Readers want to know: What was the amazing music played during the designers’ Olympus Fashion Week runway presentations?

At first we thought, yeah! An easier question than “What were the judges thinking?” -- which we’ve been asked repeatedly since Wednesday night. But, as it turns out, the music is a bit of a mystery. Dish dug around and found out the following:

Jeffrey composed his own music, a song called "Swing.” Mike Coulter is the vocalist.

Sam Shaffer composed the music for Laura’s show.

Michael Knight’s song is called "Runaway,” the artist is still unknown. (If any readers of Bravotv.com know who wrote the track, let us know.)

And Uli is the only contestant who used musical assistance from “Project Runway.” She picked a title called “Doggy Fun” by Barefoot Music.

Uli did most definitely get help on her music. But guess what? When Jeffrey's models were walking down the runway I tuned out the music and glazed over a bit.... then suddenly Uli appeared and since I have not been a big Uli fan and didnt expect much, I tuned her out a bit thinking about Laura, and then suddenly BAM! her music surrounded me and I loved it! Her models walked in and I was loving them every bit as much as Jeffrey's, and more!

I think you are in love with jeffrey or something. Was there no aspect of his music/collection/presentation/appearance/etc that you did not find absolutely the best?????

You don't know what their personal feelings are with marriage, religion or anything. You know what they look like - which has NOTHING to do with their spirituality. You also know a bit of Jeffrey's history that has from what I see, made him the person he is now. I don't see a bad person. I see a passionate, caring father and partner. He nearly cried when he saw his baby on the phone for father's day! That said a lot to me!

Also, where do you get the "he won't marry her" thing? Maybe it is she who will not marry him? or just maybe a piece of paper means nothing to them?

Jeffrey and Melanie (I think that's her name?) haven't been together since he was on drugs. He's 5 years clean and they've only been a couple for 2.5 or 3 years from what he's offered to tell us.

Opinion on fashion is one thing, but attacking someone because of the way they look is prejudice. Assuming that because he has a punk style that he is a bad person is prejudice. Prejudice = ignorance.

Heidi also told the designers to not play it safe. Oh well, Michael did not play it safe and they turned around and told him his clothes were too sexy. I am still trying to figure this out. What was too sexy? He had a few short dresses, that were no shorter than baby doll dresses. Heidi wore a baby doll dress on one of the shows, so what was the problem? And Michael showed low cut dresses exposing the chest but not really the breasts. Again, what was too sexy? As far as his bathing suits, they were bathing suits. His suits were no skimppier (sp) than Uli's two-piece.

Michael waited too late to start on his work. He could've done much more with his designs but instead he resulted to making short dresses (takes no time to do), lace up the front and with a belt. But at this point, had he done more, would it have made a difference? I think not!

Heidi did indeed tell the designers not to play it safe. Michael did not play it safe. Heidi has also said on every previous challenge that taste level is important. Quite a few of the 15 designers were either auf'ed or nearly auf'ed for taste level. But some people only remember the last thing said - not all the cumulative lessons instructions given.

There are many people who can produce great work when given direction (working for others) and fail miserably when they have their own business. I think Michael has the same problem. Michael never had a taste level issue when he was given specific instructions. When given free rein he did.

It is not unusual for the same skirt to look nice on one person and skanky on another. Not many women could wear a dress as short as the ones Alison wears and not look like a [expletive deleted]. It all depends on the person , the look, and what else the person is wearing. A very short skirt works well with dark stockings, the same skirt might look skanky with fishnet or sheer stockings.

Perhaps his bathing suits were no skimpier than Uli's two piece outfit but the removable skirt gave the wearer an option and was in my opinion sheer genius (no pun intended). But given a choice, significantly more women would choose Uli's swimwear outfit over his.

It was clear when Tim Gunn visited Michael that he was in serious trouble. Sometimes people can pull inspiration out of desperation (as Uli did with the editorial challenge and Bradley did with the Dog challenge). When inspiration doesn't come, you fall back on the tried and true (your previous body of work). I think that is what happened to Michael - his previous body of work being the portfolio that got him on the show. He added a few touches (bling) here and there and then sweated like the proverbial [expletive deleted] in church.

He talked a good game prior to the actual show, but deep down I think he knew his collection could not possibly win.

Michael has been my favorite all season. And I liked his line. I cant believe he has gotten so much critisism from the judges and just about everyone else. I think his line was sexy without being crude, vibrant, fun, funky, and hip-hop. Then out of all of the collections in the finale, Michael's was the sexiest AND the most youthful, but at the same time some of his pieces could be worn by a little bit older, more vibrant woman and they do nothing but criticize.

Michael got no praise from these judges who have no interest or taste at all in the hip-hop style. Yet I did not see his collection as being too urban, I thought it was a nice medium. I am not a black woman, I am a white woman and I do have a liking for a somewhat hip hop flavor. If I had the body for it, I would wear most of this designs. They were sexy to me without being trashy. And I love how he fixed that white shirt with the silver sequins. The initial design of the shirt I didnt like as Tim did not either, but when it came out on the runway, I was surprised. He made VAST improvements on that shirt!

Very sad that my boy Michael did not win. He has the maturity level, he just has a little bit of a different flavor of style than the stingy Michael Kors and Heidi do. He should not be chastised because his style does not fit with theirs.

Laura's collection was nice, but I was bored with all of the cocktail dresses, and I did feel that it was lacking originality. I dont know why Michael was aufed before her.

Uli's collection was okay, I didnt care for it. There were a few pieces of hers that I really liked, but overall her style did nothing for me. I dont like really long dresses. And I especially did not like the dresses she had that were strapless and just cut completely straight across the top of the breasts, I thought that was really ugly and unflattering. In my opinion she got my hype than she deserved.

Even though I do love Michael and I did like his collection, I did think that Jefferey's collection was the best one. Although I still would have rather seen Michael win, Jefferey ddid deserve the win.

Fashion is SOOOOOOOOO subjective. That is why I cant hate TOO much on the judges for being so critical of Michael's collection and why those who didnt like Jeffery's collection can be so upset that the Judges picked him. I dont get why people come on here and scream "I am never watching again" blah blah blah. My favorite did not win this season, but so what? It is a tv show, and it is fashion which holds a different beauty and appeal for each of us. I just love fashion, period. And I like to watch this show, no matter what aholes are on it, no matter if the person I want to win does or doesnt, no matter if I think some designers have an ugly estetic or not. The process of creating the design from sketch to the runway is exciting and fasinating and I just love everything about it. So I will always continue to watch.

i believe some one will snatch up laura n uli real fast. there designs are for most woman not just the younger set. they will go far. jeffery might have his own line but time will tell who buys them. think how many younger people will have the $$$$ to buy some of his clothers hm not many. whereas ulis n lauras dssigns will be in big name stores for the women with the $$$$$$$

Katie I dislike Jeffrey because to start with I was a huge Angela fan, and Laura fan next. He terrorized Angela and her mother, and then he and his apologists smeared them and called her mother "passive agressive" (which most any female might be called as we generally are not confrontational).

I agree that he didn't handle Angela's mother well but she seemed to be part of the problem. Why complain to others and not mention her dislike of the dress to Jeffrey till there was only four hours left? Jeffrey got stuck with Angela's mom who acted like a total dishrag around him. I think most of the designers would have snapped at her - doesn't make Jeffrey right in the situation but explains where he was mentally in the moment perhaps.

Jeffrey lied about that. There were not 4 hours left.
This was a one day challenge, and in his podcast, Tim says that they would have until 1 am to finish their clothes. At 11 they went to tavern on the green for lunch, and then stopped at Mood, and then arrived back at about 1 pm or so.

It was at this time that Tim started checking on everyone.
Darlene was ALONE and Tim asked her opinion about the fabric and she told him. All she said was that these colors were not what she liked (and she had already told Jeffrey she did not like lighter colors).

Jeffrey came back and this was at the latest 3 pm. This gave him at the least 9 hours or possibly 10 hours to finish.
He didnt have to include the perriwinkle blue and all would have been ok. He instead chose to assassinate the woman verbally. Darlene may have been whiny, but she couldnt hold a candle to Jeffrey who did nothing but whine for the entire 15 episodes.

Does this mean that Darlene is perfect? Ummm no. But I am just not going to rewrite history to make an old lady into the agressor here just to place the Jeffrey crowd.

How true! It used to be that fashion and fashion shows were all about showcasing the latest, up-coming trends in clothing styles that were actually meant to be accepted and worn by the majority of "fashion-conscious" individuals. Somewhere along the line, things got sidetracked and the emphaisis was now more on being considered "art" rather than wearable, functional garments. While I can appreciate the modern-day artistic elements, I simply wax nostalgic for the days when fashion was both artful AND wearable... and for more than just a select few young twenty year olds at that. Hopefully that humble opinion and wistful wish is not to be considered too heinous a crime on these boards!

Two days later and I still can't believe the final judgement. However, I think I've come to understand the reason for Michael's undue criticsm: his collection was too "ethnic" for the judges. Heaven forbid that a collection be designed for a demographic other than gaunt, pale-faced, caucasian women! Oh no, that would leave Michael Kors' panties in a bunch! That innefectual, milquetoast, aspiring drag queen wouldn't know fashion if it was served to him on a silver platter with fois grois. The same goes for Nina Garcia, whose quintessential "point of view" apparently consists of Jeffrey's Bride of Frankenstein cum Candystriper motif.

Michael had a better shot if he outfitted his models with the Fall collection from The Gap, had them strut out in blackface and prefaced his answers to the judges with a "Yessum."

Perhaps the producers should quit the charade, dress up Heidi in an SS uniform and change the name of the show to Prject Reichland.

I do not excuse Jeffrey's behavior - - but do believe much of it was an act to be noticed (smart move if you ask me). I try hard to take editing and shove it somewhere . . . . (re: vision - a creative person knows they don't always come out like you hoped).

Still - passion - creativity - sensitivity - emotion will always be a part of any true artist. Making that plus size dress was in his creative mind - - an insult. He "turned off". In his real world - - I doubt this scenario would ever be presented.

As far as who's clothes I would like for me at my present age and body type. That would be Uli's. Out of all the designs - - Uli is the only clothes I would buy.

However - - that is not an objective point of view as to who is the best designer.

The objective viewpoint would be: which designer showed - Range - Diversity - Use of Color and Textures - Creativity - Inspiration - Innovation - etc - - with in their own style.

Not quite understanding your post, Alice, but I think we think along the same lines. Talent and "niceness" do not have to go hand in hand, but lacking in both should b a strike against someone. Especially if you are going to preach something but not act it.

Sure his "creations" are young and innovative......young because my toddler could have come up with some of his shapes, and innovative if you actually mean random as hell. How many things have I seen on runways that no one in thier right mind would actually wear? Not many. So I guess his winning made some form of sence. Still, I was dissappointed.

Throughout the show, I never really had one particular favorite. But I certianly disliked most of Jeff's stuff. Yes, there were a few that he did good at. I LOVED his recycled dress. But it actually looked classy. (Go figure.) Of course, I hated most of Vincent's crap too.....and he hung around way too long.

I probably won't get too hyped up for next season, unfortunately. I loved this show and enjoyed watching it until right at the end when I found out who won.

But I guess I (as the consumer) is a dummy who doesn't know anything. *rolls eyes*

Sorry, Jeff, you won't catch me (or anyone I can think of) buying your crap.

Uli and Laura......just tell me when and where, ladies......you guys rock!

I must say, I'm honored that your very first post was in response to one of mine . . . and so right on target to boot!!! LOL!! I couldn't agree with you more. The thing that really gets me is the fact that all season long Michael Kors and Nina continually espoused that the designers needed to create clothing for "real" women, then chose Jeffrey as the winner because of his "innovative" point of view. I find this laughable, considering the average American woman is NOT 5'11 and a size 0 (after all, 0 is the new 2 >-< ) although fashion is designed for models that are. I thought Uli's collection was the hands down best because she made clothes that a wide variety of women want to wear. Jeffrey's clothes are NOT creative, NOT original, NOT innovative and definitely NOT marketable to a mass audience. If Kors and Nina had listened to what they had been saying the whole time, they would have chosen a winner who had the ability and talent to design a collection that will actually sell. I'm brokenhearted too, but thinking of Jeffrey crashing and burning professionally is helping me through it . . . along with some tequila ;-)
