That is so WAY cool... I love that idea...I could never pick ONE. But *I Will* is WAY up there..It's simplistic perfection. The clucking bongo or whatever that is
at the the end just kills me.

Today I think it's this......Yes.. sumpthin' gonna' change my/our world. smile.gif

*I believe in the Beatles* wub.gif

(Lennon/McCartney)

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup,
They slither while they pass, they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my open mind,
Possessing and caressing me.
Jai guru de va om
Nothing's gonna change my world,
Nothing's gonna change my world.

Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes,
That call me on and on across the universe,
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box they
Tumble blindly as they make their way
Across the universe
Jai guru de va om
Nothing's gonna change my world,
Nothing's gonna change my world.

Sounds of laughter shades of earth are ringing
Through my open views inviting and inciting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a
Million suns, it calls me on and on
Across the universe
Jai guru de va om
Nothing's gonna change my world,
Nothing's gonna change my world.

You're comparing beautiful music to muzak, which is kind of blind. Not everything needs to be danced to, you know. Some music just needs to be experienced, and to have the wisdom to experience it. You don't have to like everything, but you should keep an open mind. I mean, I loathe Yes, but I do get it.

OHMG I am sooooo sick of reading all these
lyrics!!!!
tongue.gif

Au mon cherie You can do many things in an elevator Especially if we are in tall buildings... Because that gives us much time to talk ..get to know one another intimately.Rip our clothes off and make mad passionate love with strangers we will never see again before we hit the 22nd floor.
Zip less bang boom... Not that I ever did that.

I only did that with peeps I knew!! tongue.gif

I wonder how many elevator songs there are and why is the elevator such a world renowned pick up place???
It's the straight man's sex haven.... Up and down and in and out.......... QUICK!!!! tongue.gif

I do know you can surely push someone's buttons in one.
You might even break out into a rendition of
Love * lift * me UP where I belong!!

You can take me higher??

Your dare is accepted... I COULD very well dance to
many Beatles songs in an
elevator or in a box or with a fox..well I have done that lol

I would dance

v-e-r-y......................s-l-o-w-l-y!!!

*Life is a dance.....Feel the beat and boogie down*

Me ........2009

Darlin' not only am I dancing right now I am singing too
wooooooooooooooooo

ONE TWO THREE FOUR!!!!!

Thanks JustMe. It is on my Christmas List.

Oh, Kristy, I agree that the Beatles had genius. But they are for listening to in the car, not dancing. And the music is not intricate enough to do nothing but listen to it, as classical. So, it just is not my thing as much as..

Lola (The Kinks)

I met her in a club down in old Soho
Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry-cola
See-oh-el-aye cola
She walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said Lola
El-oh-el-aye Lola la-la-la-la Lola

Well I'm not the world's most physical guy
But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine
Oh my Lola la-la-la-la Lola
Well I'm not dumb but I can't understand
Why she walked like a woman and talked like a man
Oh my Lola la-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola

Well we drank champagne and danced all night
Under electric candlelight
She picked me up and sat me on her knee
And said dear boy won't you come home with me
Well I'm not the world's most passionate guy
But when I looked in her eyes well I almost fell for my Lola
La-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola
Lola la-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola
I pushed her away
I walked to the door
I fell to the floor
I got down on my knees
Then I looked at her and she at me

Well that's the way that I want it to stay
And I always want it to be that way for my Lola
La-la-la-la Lola
Girls will be boys and boys will be girls
It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world except for Lola
La-la-la-la Lola

Well I left home just a week before
And I'd never ever kissed a woman before
But Lola smiled and took me by the hand
And said dear boy I'm gonna make you a man

Well I'm not the world's most masculine man
But I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man
And so is Lola
La-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola
Lola la-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola

You have some good taste wink.gif
But I heard this the other day and thought of you!

I hadn't heard it in a very long time.
It kills me it's so beautiful......... So very !!

YouTube - i am sorry - john denver wub.gif wub.gif

I am very serious when say how happy I am to see everyone talking about music.

It is truly the universal language of everything.

Expressions of love hate anguish.....rage against the machine ..Spiraling love and desperate heart break....Melodious harmonious riffs of joy sorrow and everything in between..Even without lyrics the instrumentals bring life to art and art to life and let your imagination fill in the spaces between. Bring you sweepingly to your knees

The soundtrack of our life.

You could just about die listening to Beethoven and Mozart and the like wub.gif

I could die listening to the Supremes or The Doors or Van Morrison or Elton or Death Cab For Cutie or
Jimi or Jeff Buckley... Janice....My new guy saw
her live..... I was like :

I want to eat your DNA!!! tongue.gif

I'd like to teach the world to sing????
(hey forget the world howsa' ' bout me first)
The diversity here is inspiring.
We all have our favorites but as they
say................ it's all good.

Except for David Hasselhoff and Nickelback!!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek

Oh I thought I was working for *Rolling Stone * for a minute lol

But it brings us together....... no??

They should play some classical music into the caves in Afghanistan and Bin Laden would come out a peaceful loving man.... OR some Nickelback and he would want to kill himself!!! biggrin.gif

"Cherry cola" was a change from the original lyric, which was "Coca Cola," but the Coke people got their knickers in a knot, and Ray Davies had to overdub the more neutral words. However, there are plently of places to hear the original lyrics.

I had always wondered about that. I bought the single when it first came out, and the the album, Lola vrs. Powerman and the Money-Go-Round, and the "cherry cola" was clearly an "insert" on the album. I always wondered why he did that, and now I know.

No.... some of the comments on youtube said that.
I haven't listened to much of his music really and always thought he was very different than I now come to know him.
I had never even seen a picture of him till the other day.

That type of music was never really my thing.....I do enjoy rockabilly as I mostly enjoy all music but
not that on a steady basis.

I'll let AI talk about him as she has some good stories there. Her hubby played with him.

biggrin.gif David Allen Coe....read these lyrics all the way to the end. It is a great old song!!! It is so funny (but kinda true)! My son and I love to sing this song out loud together. My son has a great voice....me, not so good. But I'm not going to let that stop me laugh.gif

You Never Even Call Me By My Name
...David Allen Coe

Well, it was all that I could do to keep from cryin'
Sometimes it seems so useless to remain
You don't have to call me darlin'...darlin'
You never even call me by my name.

Well, you don't have to call me Waylon Jennings
And you don't have to call me Charley Pride.
And you don't have to call me Merle Haggard, anymore.
Even though your on my fightin' side.

And I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standin' in the rain.
You don't have to call me darlin'...darlin'
You never even call me by my name.

Well, I've heard my name a few times in your phone book
And I've seen it on signs where I've played But the only time I know I'll hear David Allan Coe
Is when Jesus has his final judgement day.

So I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standin' in the rain.
You don't have to call me darlin'...darlin'
You never even call me by my name.

Well, a friend of mine named Steve Goodman wrote that song
And he told me it was the perfect country-western song
I wrote him back a letter and told him it was NOT the perfect country-western song because he hadn't said anything at all about
mama, or trains, or trucks, or prison, or gettin' drunk.
Well, he sat down and wrote another verse to the song and he sent it to me
And after reading it, I realized that my friend had written the perfect country-western song.
And I felt obliged to include it on this album. The last verse goes like this here:

Well, I was drunk the day my Mom got outta prison.
And I went to pick her up in the rain.
But, before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got runned over by a damned old train.

And I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standin' in the rain. No,
You don't have to call me darlin'...darlin'
You never even call me
Well, I wonder why you don't call me
Why don't you ever call me by my name?

She got runned over by a damned old train.

And I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standin' in the rain. No,
You don't have to call me darlin'...darlin'
You never even call me
Well, I wonder why you don't call me
Why don't you ever call me by my name?

If this is still the "official" OT thread then I just came here to sound off coz I'm really pissed. I spent a year of my life researching something that became near and dear to my heart... wrote an article about it, spent time recording podcasts and engaging in live segments with Deadpool about it on the radio, and everything I'm saying is just being dismissed like it's nothing. It doesn't even have to do with the food... LOL. That was SimonBao's area of expertise and as far as I can remember no one ever questioned him. It just makes me very sad and angry. I really don't want to have to pull out that article and post it here. Everybody thinks ancient cultures (all of them) were about human sacrifice just because a well-known magazine says so, or even worse, just because of hearsay in general.

Yes, I'm passionate about this, just as passionate as I was last week in the chat when that douchebag told me I "back losers" because I'm a Robin fan.

Next it'll be all about the old satanic cult scares and how so many record artists had backwards masking on their albums which caused kids to commit suicide. Where will the "village paranoia" attitude go next?

I wish Deadpool were here right this minute because he could set everything straight. Then again, maybe he shouldn't come because he wears black tee shirts and listens to death metal. He might be accused of being Mayan and playing basketball with executed people's heads. dry.gif

All right, back to your regularly scheduled song lyrics and I may add some of my own later.

--------------------

Now you're home
In heaven's light
Shining down
On a star-filled night
And when you're gone
Your soul and your spirit
Will live on
