While growing up my friend Harry used to refer to Ursella Andress as Ursella Undress for very obvious reasons. I never thought she could really act properly, but she was always someone you wanted to look at, and that's what makes a star a star, in the same way that Marylin was a star. She was charming.

Ursula was the 1st Barbie Doll type John Derek created! He was a "Svengali" for her as well as Linda Evans, then her clone Bo Derek! He's quite old, so Bo was his last triumph earning her notoriety even without a smidge of talent! I can only remember 2 movies, but I suppose she could have "cameo'd" some; "10" and "Tarzan!" Besides being a bit slow, part of her black-listing in Hollywood has to do with her being a "conservative!" If you are a "right-winger" in California, ya have to keep it to yourself! lol!!

Jon Voight (Angelina Jolie's Dad) certainly isn't keeping his conservatism to himself.

You won't see him too much either! The last movie I remember him in was with his daughter! lol! It also helps to be old and have an Oscar or 2! lol!! Charlton Heston made a nuisance of himself with NRA, but not sure anyone wanted him anyway! The last thing I remember him doing well was playing the patriarch of the Colby family in a Dynasty spinoff called "The Colbys!" I really liked it, bringing back all those old stars like Katherine Ross and Barbra Stanwyck!

Jay,
You should get out more often. Jon Voight continues to act in movies, despite being old. He is an inspiration to seniors and conservatives.

Voight had a big role in the last National Treasure film, but I feel that his political views have nothing to do with how often he works. He works often, because he is a pro, and brings a lot to the set. To say that its "because of" sells his talent short.

Jon Voight's professional life is entirely separate from his political life. As an outspoken crusader for conservative causes he is almost unique among the liberal Hollywood crowd.

I really don't mean to be contrary..but I just read all the posts bout JV and I didn't see anyone say that he worked or didn't work because of anything???

My mum was the bookkeeper at The Stonehouse for
years...a really cool old house / restaurant from the 1700s with a deep cave wine cellar in Blauvet when I was growing up and he used to go in there all the time as did so many of the local stars..Bill Murray..Al Pacino..Ellen Burstyn(name dropper me tongue.gif ) He was gorgeous..He has luminescent skin..And those lips. Oy..He is SO talented..So very. But as of late he seems to have flipped his freekin' lid! Not 'cause he's a conserv either.

If he never did anything else other than Midnight Cowboy ...Deliverance and The Champ he could die mega respected and as one of the finest actors
alive. Or rather just dead lol

I just now read he and Angelina are making amends and good on them..... Kiss them if you can. wink.gif

As long as they do a good job, as an actor, I couldn't care less what their political views are. I know I was torn up when Ron Silver passed away, and he was about as conservative as they get. The only thing that mattered to me was the work.

It makes no difference to me whether they be liberal, or conservative. I know when Clint Eastwood made Million Dollar Baby the right wing turned against him, en masse. What nonsense. Till then he had been their poster boy, and now he was the anti-christ? It's all about the work.

I remain a huge fan of Ron Silver's work, and to be honest, I never knew he was such a staunch conservative until after his death. I think that's a testament to his ability to have separated his life as an actor in the public eye from his life as a private individual, and I admire that.

That seemingly facile separation is something that seemed so much easier to accomplish in decades and eras past, and while I believe that there should never be a sublimation of belief among those whose preferences and proclivities are more public than private, I also feel that public "personalities" have an obligation (to a degree) to temper what they choose to put out on the "potluck" table with what's best left to the high-rollers who've paid for backstage "canape tray" access.

I guess, although I like the ability to change things up depending on my fickle whims and revolving interests. I just wish it wasn't perceived as such a horrible and deceitful deed, that's all. I see it as just another fun option the BBB has given us, like changing your avatar or your signature. Regardless, it's not a very welcome option, so I'll just stick to what's expected from here on out. dry.gif
