Thom is not only intelligent, sweet, and sizzlin' hot, he's also a good sport! Although poker is obviously not his game, he took on the challenge for charity.....and he even won a hand! That definitely called for a "Cabbage Patch" dance moment. I think that dork, Penn, could have been a bit less snarky when Thom showed his cards by mistake. All the guys did a great job on Ed and his apartment was great. (Thom, you're forgiven for that shower curtain.....blame it on Las Vegas.)

Thom was a great sport...it took guts to do something with very little experience or knowledge. It shows what a very big heart Thom has and will do most anything to help others. No matter the out come...3 cheers to Thom!! Keep on showing the world, Fabulous Five that ALL people can come together through laughter, tears and sharing life experiences.

Do you know the name of the sparkling rosé that got a mention on this episode? I own a wine shop in Seattle and the people are asking for it!
Thank you!

The wine was an Italian sparkling wine called Brachetto d'Aqui. I do not, however, know the name of the voneyard that produced that particular one. If you find out, please let me know and I will do the same.

It's a shame they cut out him saying "We aren't playing Uno????" after he did that - it was one of the commercials but they cut it! He was a good sport about it. Penn and Teller creep me out, so I wasn't happy to see him there. And I have to admit to having no idea who Susan Anton was, despite her name being slightly familiar.

When I saw that shower curtain, I was shocked - but okay, it was appropriate for the circumstances.

I thought Ed did a wonderful - perhaps even fantastic - job as the ...announcer of the game, or whatever they called him. I really don't know much about poker. But he could do that for a living.

Did anyone else notice, though, the weird way they seem to insert voices? Especially right at the end of the first segment, where Ed asked if they were all going to play in the tournament. This mysterious, loud voice says, "We've nominated Thom and you're going to have to teach him how to play!" and it was just like one of those gameshow voiceovers. Or perhaps God chiming in.

Upon another listen, I think maybe it was Jai - he also said something at the very beginning about Thom being the best liar, and that sounded dubbed in too. Perhaps his mic was having issues??

I thought they did an excellent job!

Thought this wasn't a bad episode....loved how they were all rooting for Thom back at the loft. before he left, Kyan told him, "Stab him in the forehead at the game if he says 'fantastic'!" lol Carson was SO excited...but only for Susan Anton! And Kyan and Ted's mocking Thom doing the 'cabbage patch'...

I'm working on getting a webpage started for Kyan Douglas and I actually got Ed Miller to sign it!

http://www.freewebs.com/queereyelove/guestbook.htm

"I thought Kyan was a terrific guy. Due to the filming schedule, I spent more time with him than any of the other Fab 5. We had a lot of similar feelings about New Orleans and I thought he was a talented, supportive and positive person."

There's another article, "Queer Eye for the Straight Flush Guy", where they talk about Ed's decision to become a professional poker player. But they also have a side story on Kyan Douglas' life in New Orleans, in particular, about a tragic incident that occurred to three friends he used to work with. It was after that he went to New York. He returned to get his degree from Loyola University (one of his friends who was killed was a teacher).

"We didn't want to jump on the Katrina bandwagon. We'd thought we'd go down there and make over some homes or something. Honestly, anything that you do feels like not enough," said Douglas, a Florida native whose New Orleans years, otherwise happily recalled, ended in tragedy. He worked at the French Quarter Louisiana Pizza Kitchen at the time of the 1996 tragedy there, when three co-workers (one was shot in the neck and survived)were killed by armed robbers. He wasn't on duty that day. "My memories of New Orleans are definitely a mixed bag. I've only been back to the city twice since I left seven years ago (neither time since the storm). The interesting thing is that about two months before the storm, I was getting strong urges to go to New Orleans, which was catching me off guard, because I honestly haven't had strong urges to go back. I was dreaming about the city, remembering things like sitting in my PJ's, writing in my journal, the streets and the architectureand my friends and just the whole thing. I was getting so nostalgic for New Orleans and wanting to go back and you can imagine my schedule is a little bit crazy at times, so it's very easy to put things off. But when Katrina hit, I couldn't help but wonder if some part of me connected to the great scheme of things wasn't sort of telling me, "go, go, go, it's going to change."

Candy, I can't see anything in that guestbook.

Yeah, that was a very interesting article. It's too bad that Kyan wasn't able to make it back to NOLA before Katrina hit.

I just now saw this....OOPS

Yeah, I've been having trouble with my links lately...

http://www.freewebs.com/queereyelove/index.htm

If this is still wrong, would you please let me know?

Glad you had a chance to read that article...don't read many personal things about him and that said a LOT about him...
candozier
I hope you were able to access that link.
It'd be great to have you HERE as well....

Between the group, the webpage and my Yahoo 360 page, I don't know which end is up! lol

Don't know how Naomi does it!

Have you been able to see the webpage? Did a little work on it this weekend. Did a pretty good job if I say so myself. I know that Ed liked what he saw! lol

Would love to hear from both you and my_guy_ky....

.....and from anyone else!

Looks great! I have found that I have to turn off my pop-up blocker to access some of the things on your site. (Turned up too high, I guess.) Might be why I couldn't see some of the stuff.

Candace - the best place to get a hold of me is on the various message boards. I don't use the various IM programs & have a hard time responding promptly to e-mails (Thus, that people get mad at me!) Looking forward to chatting with you here.

I'll check out the Yahoo board you've been posting also.
candozier
Oh, I wasn't aware of that...

Sorry but I just saw this! lol
I come here as often as I can but it's hard finding some through all of the posts!

That's why I like IMs and e-mails...that way I don't have to "hunt" for people! lol
candozier
I did do a little work on the page in the last couple days. I changed a couple of the backgrounds. Both of my Messengers were down over the weekend so I had plenty of time! lol

I posted the most recent interview w/Kyan in the Odds n' Ends section. I do have a collaborator but we're on different IM systems so it's hard.

I'm thinking of posting the others too because I think what they all said, especially in regards to the issue of gay marriage, was so relevant.

Hi Sean (waves)!

Was wondering...since Ed Miller was so kind as to stop by....would you also "grace" my fledgling webpage (for Kyan Douglas)with your "presence"?

Well, I got both of my Messengers back during the week and I've been making up for "lost time"! lol

Having them BOTH down was HARRRRRIBLE!

I may have the time...but she knows this stuff better than I do.

My boyfriend just got out of the Navy after 10 yrs and moved back to Baltimore, MD. He also just started a job as a first officer for Southwest Airlines, and started flying this past Sunday. He has been so busy with training that he has not been able to really look for a town house or first home just yet and moved back in with his mom for the interim. He IS going to move out as soon as he finds something. We will have to date long distance until he decides to propose, which I think could be around April 2007??? But, I do feel that eventually this will happen and I'll be out there soon; and it would be AWESOME if you guys could point him in the right direction as far as what a grown ups house looks like :-). Anyway, he is the PERFECT candidate for The Fab Five to makeover! PLEASE tell me how I can submit pics and a little blurp on him????? Thanks!

You'll have to fire up the old time machine because it looks like the FF aren't filming any new episodes. What I want to know is WHERE'S THE 100TH EPISODE SPECIAL? Does anyone know if an air date has been mentioned anywhere? We know it's in the can (or on the tape in this case) and we even know who won "Mr. Straight Guy".........but when will we be able to see it? This slow death of QE is definitely cruel and unusual punishment.

I keep thinking it is supposed to air in December - but I could be totally imagining that, since I have no idea where I got that idea. But I'm pretty sure there are episodes that haven't aired - and since Bravo made such a big deal about new episodes in 2007, I imagine they'll air in January. Have there actually been 100 episodes that have aired? Maybe that one will be the....*SOB* .... very last one.

Well, as of this afternoon....the webpage is gone. I looked earlier and saw that the photos weren't showing up. I know the other person working on it with me "bailed"...but I didn't think she would take her pictures with her! lol
I had NO idea what happened or know of a way to fix it.
And I had absolutely NO ONE to ask!

I expected this to be work....but I also expected it to be FUN and that I would be able to find someone ELSE that would think it was a good idea.

Oh, well...maybe someone ELSE will give it a try.

Could you put in a good word for ME there, please? For some reason, I can't get back IN! lol

And I know there has been almost NO activity since I left....and I would like to come back....especially NOW that this is the last season.
