This season's designers have been labelled the best yet. What do you think about that?
PJMNYC2006
Already commented on it but I don't know that it will make the show more fun to watch but it will probably make for better clothes. Perhaps the fact they are more settled in their styles and views will make for more friction and more friction makes GREAT tv!! Its all about schadenfreude!

They should do a show that is nothing but follow-ups on past contestants and not just the top three or four.
ToddinPVD
YEAH BABY YEAH! Do I make you Randy?

Ok, so the very beggining of the episode with his laugh had me thinking....this guy sounds alot like Austin Powers' long lost brother. Anyone think the same?
DanielLovaForeva
Hell no I think that this season is not the best yet but they are good. Jeffery and keith are my men let me tell you <33

I can not wait to see what this season has in store I wonder what that thing is where someone has to leave. well im gonna watch it again
IronChef
It's not easy to peg the contestants this early on, but right off the bat, I've gotta say that I agree with those who've said Malan's rubbed them the wrong way. Something about him just seems all affectation and little substance, but like I said, it's early yet.

And I adore Keith, but who knows, maybe it's just because I think he looks a lot like Jude Law!

Already can't wait for next week's ep!

I like the show so far, but not sure if these are "the best" ever....

I am not a prude - but I hope that these designers will keep thier mouths clean - why do we need to hear them "bleeping" all the time.

I stopped watched Top Chef for that very reason. You can make a point without resorting to foul language!

I'm looking forward to this season!
PJMNYC2006
I was just saying on the other board that he reminds me of Dr. No or Heinz, the Baron Krauss von Espy from Intolerable Cruelty.
janie611
I like the show so far. I have been looking forward to it!!!! I'm not sure who wrote this but I agree about Malan sounding like a bad imitation of Austin Powers...ugh!!! He just seems so smug....I really liked Robert's dress...it's too bad he lost.
joy00923
My favorite so far is Laura. Loved her coat and i thought she should have won.
Keith was boring.
lala3170
So, on that one Project Runway commercial it has Tim telling someone to leave because they broke a rule (or something like that). What do you all think is going on with this. I don't really know. I was thinking that maybe one designer sabatoged another. I can't wait for that episode to air!
ny1230
I think Vincent's dress was good. It's a shame he used that hat, it took away from the dress. I think he has potential.
hettar7
i can't see it yet.
then again, i think season 1 designers were better than season 2. (top examples, not overall)
victorianartist
Well, the show is interesting and has colorful characters. It should be interesting; however, there seems to always be a Santino/Wendy Pepper character. I like the showmanship, but I really enjoy watching the designers create something out of very little. I sew and design myself, for myself, so it intrigues me each week. There is definitely some talent on this show, it is a bit too soon to make any presumptions. Looking forward to next Wednesday.

I wasn't sure that I would like it, but I loved Top Chef... as for foul mouths, Chefs are notorious for tempers and foul mouths. However, there are some that have a touch of class and don't require an expletive to get their point across.
BSsewer
I would hope they are the best designers so far. Most of them are either working out of their own store or had their own line at one point. I thought this show was about up and coming talent, not already been talent.
anonymous41
I think Vincent has potential, the hat was little ..much. i also like alyson. i think she could go far.
TylerGriff
These Designers delivered! I thought Laura should have won instead of Keith. I really don't like him! Also Jeffrey, and I was saddened that he stayed instead of Stacey, but good riddance. If you don't know how to sew, then you gotta go!

Vincent seems like he’s had one to many nervous breakdowns, that or he drinks too much coffee. What does cashing in his 401k have to do with anything? Does this mean it’s his last attempt or else? I'm afraid for him I think he has talent but he seems to be fragile and maybe unstable.
glory
i mean.. what it up with breton's accent..

is that british accent for real...?

and god..they way he laughs...

i swear everything about him seems so ugh~
glory
wow..that is so true-0-
Cadiev
Keith and Jeffrey are Santino and Wendy on one show?? I bet one of those guys is the one kicked off for sabotage. The HUGE egos make for good drama, but if you truly have class, you don't have to go around telling everyone you do. Look at Laura...there's a classy lady.

One quick question, if you're going to say how lame the show is and act how above it all you are, why even try out for it?
bleep573
no last season was better. there are only a few on this one that are really good, most are just playing characters. malan is sooo off the wall and jeffery needs to go home(as does vincent) but that is just my opinion
nnglas
Let the games begin!!!!!!

Ok you guys. This is what we have been waiting for. I only have a couple of things to say about the designers. Vincent.... is it just me, this guy for some odd reason really scares me. He seems to have this air of desparation. Almost like if he were to get voted off he might be up in the tower with a rife..... Anybody else feel this way? I'm telling you this guy scares the sh** out of me. If I hear one more time that he cashed out his 401k.... Do they do like a psych eval before they are allowed on this show?

Ok, next up. The person who I think is going to be the "Santino" of this season. Not because she is going to put alot of sh** on her designs but I just think that she is going to be the one to argue with the judges this year.

Mulan....... What can I say about Mulan, except that I read his bio and I don't see any reason for him to have a British accent. Taiwan, Australia..... maybe I am wrong, but Long Island, NY...... enough said. Well maybe not enough, I think he is this years Daniel Franco. I think he is going to make elegant clothes no matter what.

The other "Santino," Jeffrey. He is going to have feathers and glitter, and birds, and beads...... You know what I mean.

This year Cloe is going to be Alison. I don't know but I think that she is going to be the one to watch.

Ok, one more comparison......Uli, this years Kara? Something tells me she is going to fly totall under the radar.

Ok, I am done. See you guys next week.

i actually like vincent. he's just being honest and sincere. cashing in on your 401k to do your dream isn't desperation. it's courage. not everybody can do that.
choptt
I think these designers look like a better and more interesting group than last season's. I was disappointed with last season, everybody playing it safe, talent pool seemed shallow. I always found Chloe less than impressive, boring even, and Santino wildly overrated.

Now if there were only some real integrity in the judging...Michael (fabulous all white dress, very creative) or Robert (red bows in back, built in necklaces) should have won tonight, and that comforter skirt outfit should have been auffed.

I can't sleep so I looked in again. I like Vincent but he seems a little too shakey and it might be being on tv. I would not want to be on tv. The hat thing was just too much and he lucked out. I hope he succeeds even if it doesn't work here.
eyelikepr
Michael (fabulous all white dress, very creative)

...and it was made from coffee filters. BRAVO
Ducky29
The best season is whatever one i'm watching at the moment. (Kinda like my favorite pizza is whatever i happen to be eating) The dynamics change each season. Putting different characters together evokes different "Clash[es] of the Titans" so to speak. For example, could you picture the end result of Wendy and Santino in the same cast? I think this season's designers backgrounds are very diverse- so we're off to a good start. There's no telling what sorts of fireworks we'll get to see- but we know they'll be fireworks! Me? i'm going to sit back and enjoy the show!
mickhyperion
Robert is dead sexy!!

Malan is interesting. Fake accent or not, he has tremendous style. Time will tell if he's a talented designer or a fraud, a nice guy or a villain.

Jeffrey is a scary rude egomaniac and I can hardly wait until he's gone. At least Santino was funny. I would be afraid of this guy with scissors in his hand. Hide the needles.

Vincent might be alright, if he can get past his apparent leaning toward complete tackiness. He's a character, but his first design was horrible.

The rest of the designers are a blur so far.

i thought the same thing. i think chloe is not impressive. i didn't see anything original in her design at all. i wonder why she won. she does like simple, elegant lines, but they're so plain! kara saun also likes simple, elegant lines but she adds some oustanding elements to it.

i really thought chloe was very very boring.

and i still will vouch for vincent! i don't think people should judge vincent based on the hat he wore... or whatever he wears!

jay mccaroll wears hats, furs, and once dressed like jesus... but his designs, especially the NY fashion week line was oustanding.
LaGabberGirl
Yeh, I thought they were supposed to be more up and coming, but then, past designers did have some experience too. And Keith! He worked close with Todd McGill/Wyeth? I sell that at work. So does that mean Milla Jovovich can audition too? She's a new designer at Fred Segal's with experience.
LaGabberGirl
OMG, ok, I will try to keep an openmind regarding Vincent. It was definitely the hat and his personality that is making me nauseous. I'll judge him by his next attempt. I think I would actually wear that dress w/the 'cartoony' pockets, but it just looked so homemade!
-Malan's accent is probably so unpinpointed b/c he's been raised in so many places..the poor boy is confused! I'm interested in seeing what 'Mr. Couture' can do.
-Laura is like a stylish school teacher or a fashionable nun. Very NY. I think I'm afraid of her...as a mom of the group?
-Jeffrey is going to be the 'Puck' of PR...new Santino? True, at least Santino was funny and knew he was being arrogant. You could see something deeper in Santino towards the end. Jeffrey is like a kid who was deprived of his candy.
-Kayne..will he be the next Bob Mackie?
-Alison and Bradley's stuff is cool.
-All in all, I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's work. They did a good job sorting them out!
This is going to be some season! I just hope that with all the different personalities that it doesn't become TOO DRAMA-atic. That is why MTV's The Real World got old for me after it's 3rd season. The casting agents or the cast themselves always had to outdo the previous cast members' personalities. And PR3 definitely has a crazy mix of freaks and regular folk.

Honestly, I'd rather see some good designs with drama related to the process than these crazies getting at each other's throats just b/c they don't like each other..go back to HS..this is business...I hope that's the reason why Tim steps in and kicks someone out. TIM, 'KEEP IT REAL' PLEASE!
kp2004
let me start by saying that i am biased and i love daniel vosovic, and no one will ever live up to him. that said:
there is a lot of talent going on, along with some strong personalities. my favorites so far are robert (doesn't he look like a sexy ray romano?), laura (she's so chic!) and angela (only because i literally live fifteen minutes from where she lives in ohio-middle-of-nowhere). so far, i don't like malan (seriously he looks like satan in human form, so sleazy), vincent (what was up with that DEVO hat??), jeffrey (funny how you called everyone's designs "remedial" yet you were in the bottom two, how interesting mr arrogant-pants) and keith (very talented but he's just a little too arrogant for my tastes).
crakker_jakk
keith is hottt!!!
JacksonReid
Well... I seriously doubt they'd say "This year's bunch leaves something to be desired. But we're airing the show anyway." But, after The Road To... and the Wall to Wall challenge, it looks to be a great season to watch. I don't suspect there's a dull one in the bunch.
JacksonReid
And I did a post without mentioning a singler Designer! "Bad Fan! Bad, BAD Fan!!!" Okay, here goes... We've got a lot of talent on the screen, but who's going to end-up having the most versatility? THAT'S who's going to walk away with this season. This early in the game? I'd have to say that Robert and Kayne are the ones to watch. They all kicked-out a great start, especially Keith. Face it... He made the dress that more than a few women would want to wear. But will his talents override the arrogance? Ooops! I mean "confidence"? And the rest? Who can break out of their respective molds and excel in the most varied of styles?

Oh yeah... And the "drama" promises to be excellent!

P.S. Nick V... Find a way to make Guest Appearances. You're still the show's hottest eye candy.
kristens
We're about the same age and I think we have similar styles and attitudes. My only fear is that she'll get trapped and not be able to adapt to some of the challenges. Oh yeah, she's a redhead as am I and we need to stick togther-lol!
NEXT
Michael was absolutely the most creative in this first challenge. Coffee filters?!? Everyone else used typical fabrics. His design showed true creativity! I would wear that dress.

ITA that it was a great start! Even the bottom 3 were much better than some of the prior seasons (think Wendy's candy bikini or any or Starr's designs).

I liked Keith's dress, but this was supposed to be about innovation. I don't think he should have won this challenge--sheets and a few buttons??
gem_your_face
My favorite designers so far would have to be Robert and Laura, because they are so flawless and mature. Something about them says they don't play any games and that they really are serious about the show.
I also like Jeffrey, and I'm pulling for all the younger cast members (Alison, Katherine, Bonnie, Angela) to really shine despite their possible lack of experience.
I think Keith is to arrogant, though maybe brilliant. Something about his personality just doesn't sit well with me. But I can see him in the top 3.

Hey I liked Starr.....
But I agree Keith's design wasn't as innovative as say, coffee filters, rugs, and chandeliers..
rxgrrl
I'm glad they have some over 40's designers this time. Why should younger designers get all the breaks? I think Milan is going to be the Santino of the group. He reminds me of a vampire! Jeffrey is just arrogant. I feel sorry for Vincent, he cashed in his 410K to get back in the fashion business! I think he made a mistake. Everyone else seems to have some talent. I'm looking forward to all the upcoming shows.
jmnycrkt
I think this season's designers are dullsville.Where are you Jay? Santino, save me from these duldrums!

Sorry I bashed Starr--but the jester dress from the BR challenge and the tumor dress are burned into my brain as "what not to wear!"

At least we agree on Keith

Keith's dress was beautiful but I really felt that Michael's coffee filter dress was amazing. It was simple but I believe based on the assignment probably the most innovative and creative. I mean everyone was going to go for the sheets, comforters, upholstery because it's so close to fabric but the coffee filter concept was so impressive. Robert's dress was wonderful too. The back was sexy and elegant. I would have liked to see Michael or Robert win. I am so excited about this season.
joiedevie
Michael is great! I loved his creation. I wish it would have gotten more air time. And the model worn it splendidly. I am cheering for Michael.
kcich
Looks like its going to be a great season!

My early favorites: Robert (what a cutie, and gorgeous dress), Kayne (he is so adorable), Allison, Bonnie, and Michael (that coffee filter dress was AMAZING!!)
Least favorites: Jeffrey, Malan (ahh that voice), and Laura (someting about her creeps me out).

Others: Uli looks to be the Kara of the group, will fly under the radar. Bradley reminds me of Emmett. Vincent is so clueless that it is fun to watch. Katherine has a cute personality. Angela doesn't really stand out. And Keith is hott, but could have a problem with ego in the future (much like Santino).

And I was glad Stacy left. Her lack of sewing ability showed poor form. It would be like entering a car race and not knowing how to drive. Her Harvard MBA can't help her out with everything.

Can't wait for next week!

I think it was an awesome concept and an inspired idea, but the innovation was in the embellishment of the coffee filters alone. Underneath all the filters, there's got to be a simple white sheath, probably of linen--the very same material Keith used--that gives the dress its form and framework, and allows it to be even remotely functional. Anyone who's ever made a pot of coffee knows how fragile those little suckers are! And you know the first time it gets something spilled on it, it's useless ... unless, of course, it's coffee being spilled.
DefyingGravity
Hmm people seem to dislike Malan but I think he is great! So arrogant and bizzare. Also very talented. He is my favorite thus far.
Acushla
I love Vincent. He's completely insane and reminds me a little of Woody Allen. I'm so glad he didn't get voted off this week because I really want to see what else he'll do.

I'm rooting for Michael because he's an Atlanta boy and I grew up in the 'burbs of ATL. I loved his designs on Road to the Runway and I think he's got a lot of potential.

Lara is my girl because she's a redhead like me (even though mine's not natural happy.gif) and she's got a big dose of flapper style. Her coat was fabulous.

Jeffrey's designs were good (I wasn't particularly fond of the dress but the coat was pretty pimp) but not together. I'd like him a lot better as a person if he ate some humble pie because he thinks really highly of himself but can't put his money where his mouth is.

Malan really chaps my ass. Every time I see him I just want to punch that smug look off his face.

Yep, the producers certainly know what makes for good TV. I'd like to smack him, too. Pompous pretender.
