laura's an architec trying to be a designer. Michael's young and still has a way to go and uli designed the same dress in EVERY show, the same as Laura did. Jeffrey was the only one that is an actual designer and that has an actual eye for trends. Yeah, he's a bit odd, who isn't? Just because he busted his butt and finished at home and then Laura, who showed her jealousy throughout the show made a comment, you really think Jeffrey lied and tried to pull a fast one on everyone? The guy sews for a living! On the show the designers have design and make a dress in 1 or 2 days. They had 2 months to complete 12 pieces and you don't think he could have done his collection in that amount of time? Think again? Before you attact someone you should really know all the facts and I do mean ALL the facts.

"laura's an architec trying to be a designer. Michael's young and still has a way to go and uli designed the same dress in EVERY show, the same as Laura did."

I disagree w/ the above quote however, I'm in total shock....I don't think this season was fair in a many ways esp
pulling this four way crap; the way Allison was Auf'd so quickly when other's had more chances. Even though Uli stepped up she was given many chances after designing the same dress over and over; even the one w/the big Afro was basically the same dress; I think her photo had a lot to do w/the win and the model. Its true that Laura desigened variations of the same theme esp. the baby doll # w/the shimmers but Michael and Jeffrey were more versatile, and innovative...
This show is about people who can design no matter what your career is has nothing to do with it!
you don't have to be a "professional" designer who already designs for hip hop or rock stars. Jeffrey said that he can design but he had problems w/the time restraints. If you looked a his studio it was bigger than Parsons. He appeared to be very successful; that French designer was all over him; I knew then something was up. I am shocked he won; I don't think his designs were "all that" I liked the "green stripe, zipper number. Uli stepped it up big time. She went beyond her one note, I just didn't like the four going to Fashion Week ...Michael's was fine but I think he dropped the ball on a few (and so did Jefferey who had some baby doll looking peices! I am glad MK won the $10 grand so he didn't come out empty handed. I'm skeptical of this show and I don't think I'm watching next season so Auf'd Project Runway....
stick a fork in me I'm done for good....I'll try TopChef

Being in Asia means we get to see Project Runway episodes much later. So I have only learnt that in Season 3, Jeffrey not only made in to final 4, but also the surprise winner of the season. Can’t tell you how disappoint I was. His works throughout the weeks were often rated the lowest on the show and on the website. He did not show his talent to us in front of the camera during the show, yet all of the sudden when camera was not on him he could produce a collection that was above himself?! He was unpleasant in most episodes and extremely rude in the episode where he designed an outfit for Angela’s mother. If this is the representative of a winner of Project Runway, I don’t think I would like to see any more of the show.

Poor Jia Santos...It was sad that she couldn't make it to Bryant Park. I mean, sure, her designer was booted before the finale, but still, someone might have picked her. And if if someone didn't pick her, she'd still know that she COULD have made it to Bryant Park.

Anyone knows if we will get to enjoy PR twice a year at this point? I only got cable to be able to watch Season3 and I need to cancel if we'll only get to see PR4 next summer.
My feeling is we'll get 2seasons/year since PR3 aired this Summer. Anyone has any idea please advise...

tim gunn will be here in Dallas @ Macy's NorthPark for a fashion show of new designs---show starts at 6:30pm its free but you have to call 866-226-0449 for reservations!

I think she was at Bryandt Park, she walked in Malan's show I believe. And the only model she may have been picked over was Clarrisa since the other designers wanted their usual models so much, except Uli who went for Nazri for obvious reasons.

Watched quite a bit of Season I!! Like Top Design in it's 1st year, it started out kinda slow, production values wasn't up to par, and you had the usual villian!! As usual they kept saving someone who should have been auf'd weeks before!! I still don't and can't believe Wendy made it to the final!! She was sad and pathetic to the last; style was so OLD!! What is wrong with these judges!! A consistant designer who slips up once is "castrated," but they let someone very mediocre go on and on and on until they "have to" Nix them!! Kara Saun was robbed even though she slipped up a bit at the show!! The shoe thing could have been avoided and the dresses didn't need to be tripping up her models!! I felt so badly for Austin Scarlet!! He blew it when he just didn't listen to the final challenge!! He loves coutour and just can't help but make everything a bit too glam and costumey!! It was the Grammy's not Oscar's babe!! Poor thing!! Is Jay actually working?? lol!! Even Nick gets more exposure!! I see his name referenced, but not from really doing a show!! Season 2 was much better, but how did the villian, Santino make it with all his BS crapola!! Daniel V. should have won, but I wasn't unhappy for Chloe!! Season 3 was very frustrating with idiotic challenges!! How could they choose Jeffery over anyone?? Keith should not have have gone anywhere with his rotten attitude about rules!! I could have been satisfied with Uli, but I thought all of Laura's creations were a cut above and quite stylish!! No accounting for taste huh?? lol!! I can't wait for Season 4 to start!! When?? When?? When?? lol!!
Brightsun301
Anyone know if there's ever going to be another season?? *pout*

I read somewhere that Tim is currently signing his contract for PR4 and discussing casting dates and such with the producer. Can't wait for Season 4!!!

CityGirl
I just saw an interesting tv special on Michael Kors. He first started sketching dresses at age 10. Sewed up a bunch of things and was selling them out of his basement to neighborhood kids. Had his first New York Fashion Week show at age 21. Holy smokes. Now, in the coming year, he is doing a major nationwide rollout and opening over 100 Michael Kors stores, mostly in upscale malls.

The most interesting tidbit was a shot of him as a kid with his mom, who was formerly a model and looked very Marilyn Monroe. Never would have guessed that from seeing her with her hair tied severely back in a ponytail when she guest-judged on PR. She was definitely a looker in her time.

I'm posting this on the TC, PR, and TD boards. The Bravo Board Boss has finally found and fixed the glitch with my old name. So, effective immediately, I'm dumping my current name CityGirl and resuming my former name FoodFanOne.

How many got their fix of watching Project Runway, Season I today?? Ran all day until the repeats of SG now!! Uggghhhh; Wendy was horrid!! It's like arguing with a Republican; you can't win!! They're always right (no pun intended) and you're always wrong (left)!! I can understand why they went with Jay, but I can't see wearing that stuff around!! Kara Saun's creations were quite beautiful, stylish, and memorable; plenty of leather and fur!! Tacky, tacky, tacky, some would say!! - Today's episode sounds idiotic!! Why cut someone's hair with hedgeclippers or anything else but normal shears?? Worried about getting stranded on Gilligan's Island without your scissor?? Stupid challenge here we come!! I suppose they can surprise me!! So much better than TD though!! Saved my wednesdays!! lol!!

This is not the appropriate place to post this question but I can't create a new topic so here goes!

Any chance of Bravo ever showing the runway shows of the "decoy" contestants (Austin and Kara, I believe) from Seasons 1 and 2? Since the designers went to the trouble of creating a collection, it would be nice for them and the shows fans to see what they ended up creating.

I mean, Bravo, you filmed all four runway shows, right? Why not air these two since you have a long time until Season 4 begins? You've already got the film and I can't imagine a great deal of editing is required. Just add in a "Where are they now?" segment on the more activer designers and, boom!, you got yourselves a new hour of programming.

a project runway revelation.

Once upon a time, in the not-so-distant past, I was in the camp that believed that fashion was a waste of time and money. Some of this had to do with my mother’s comments, season after season, about how ugly contemporary fashion is; some of this had to do with my hyper-frugal Asian upbringing; and some of this had to do with my post-conversion-to-Christianity ideas that money could be better spent elsewhere. I did my best to look presentable, but rarely did I consider what was popular at the time. My goal was a classic and timeless look, something that transcended the ever-changing norms of fashion, and something that would cost as little as possible.

All of this changed about a year ago when I started watching Project Runway – a brilliant show, one of the few reality shows that is actually based on talent. I came to see the fashion was really art, and there was a lot more to it than I had ever considered. Fabrics, proportions, types of stitches and threads – these all had significant impacts on the product that was made. Suddenly, fashion was interesting – and the show was a major impetus in what Nina Garcia called “the democratization of fashion”, making fashion accessible to the masses.

Beyond the aesthetic and the sociocultural elements, though, I realized that our interest in fashion, our desire to wear what is well-made and pretty, points to a striving for beauty. We are all interested in and drawn to beauty, to some degree. I’ve realized, in the months since I started watching PR, that there is something even theological about beauty. It’s not wasteful, as the Christian culture I find myself in would often have us believe; it is, in fact, an essential element of God’s character. That thought is making me drastically reconsider my initial thoughts on fashion and realize that perhaps it isn’t a waste after all.

So thanks, Project Runway, for helping me realize all of these things smile.gif

Season 3 running today! I really loved this group! Many were very talented, but the bad ones were very bad! How did cookie cutter designers like Vincent, Angela, Stacey, Bradley, and Bonnie make it to the show? Others were average, but a few didn't even know how to sew! Kayne was over the top, but he was amazing at times! His Marilyn Monroe gown was classic! I loved Robert, but had nothing that was origional and memorable! I think I just wanted into his pants! lol! I thought he was so cute! Laura was great and I have no idea why Jeff had such a problem with her! He would look at her efforts and just exhale, "another high-waisted skirt!" 'Why do you care idiot? You should be worrying about those tacky outfits you were making! You were lucky to make the final, then win! Talk about an injustice!'

Michael was very consistant all season, but dropped the ball at Fashion Week! His efforts were just a little weak! Uli was good, but also a one-note designer! All her stuff looked like you should be walking along the beach! She still should have won over Jeff! Too bad Keith got caught cheating! He looked like a druggie most of the time looking so tired, but he was quite sexy! He should have been auf'd when he didn't create an outfit for his dog for that challenge! I still can't believe they kicked Katherine instead just because of a bad hem! That was tragic losing Milan especially since he has gone on to bigger and better things than this show! "Well done babe!" Loved his accent! I think I hit on everybody! How did you guys like seeing Season 3 all over again?
Kathe123
I loved season 3; especially Michael, who rightfully won the fan favorite award. I also loved Malan, Katherine, Bonnie and the blonde. What was her name? It was a shame that they got booted so soon, especially in favor of keeping Vincent, Angela & "Mr. Squid without an ocean" Bradley. C'est la vie.

What I didn't like about season 3 was its predictable sequence of winners & losers. Every even week a female would win and a male would have to pack his belongings. Reverse that for the odd weeks. I knew Keith was safe in the doggie challenge because it was a female's week to lose. Same with week #2, Malan was in trouble and Angela was safe. C'mon, Bravo! Be fair this season!!

ITA with everything you mentioned! Something else is going on behind the scenes we may never find out about! Vincent and Angela were saved over and over again while poor little ALISON was auf'd after showing she had real talent! I mentioned earlier as a joke that HEIDI probably told production to "get rid of her!" She can't be shown up like that on camera by some little chippy so pretty! lol!! Same thing happened to Alexandra in season 2! lol!! Both are stunning women with huge talent and potential!
NANCY S - MA
I, too, cannot believe that Angela lasted as long as she did. The fact that she didn't know what a jet-setter would wear - ???? Read People magazine, girl!

And rosettes on the butt??

Michael could have won, but he lost his focus. They kept telling him all the way through that his strength was sportswear, but he tried to do something else, understandably. He could have done evening wear with a sporty twist, rather than those awful evening gowns he did.

And Jeffrey, in spite of being a jerk at times, really was the most innovative, though I wanted Uli to win. Hers are the clothes I would want to buy.

The collection Austin did for PR can be seen on
http://austinscarlett.com/ I loved his collection. But what I really love are the bridal gowns he is designing for Kenneth Pool. The dresses are breath taking. My daughter tried on dozens of gowns, from different designers, but when she tried on the line of dresses desinged by Austin Scarlett for Kenneth Pool, the search was over. She looked stunning in the dress we purchased. Below are links to the dress.

I have a question about the Season 3 DVD. Does any retailer have an exclusive edition of this DVD? I purchased the Season 2 DVD at Target which had the extra Project Jay DVD.

Thanks in advance.

couldn't post a new topic, so ok you fashionistas, I need help. In the season 3 reunion viewing, as well as on season 4 shows, just B4 Tv commercials, a model, shown from waist down, (looks like Heidi's legs), is walking in front of a blue, Project Runway banner. The shoes she has on are, brown, sexy, strappy, open, high heel style sandals. I am trying to find out who makes these shoes?
bunsai63
Hi! This is my first post here, and I sure could use some help.
Does anyone know the name of the beautiful song that played during Uli's runway show? Thank you for your kindness.
