Talk about everything under the sky about this third season here.
IronChef
I'm really glad they've seen fit to add this "anything goes" subheading this season! We've been crowing about a place to put "OT" threads for two seasons now, so here it is, yaaaaaay!!!!!

Glad to see the winner gets immunity in the next challenge again. Seems to stimulate much more creativity and more well-executed garments.

It makes me wonder whether Keith will be a good boy and play it safe next week, or "act out" and create something completely off the wall just because he can without fear of repercussion.

Hmmm. I typed a reply and it isn't showing up on the board. What the heck. Anyway, maybe Keith will just use his freebie to continue learning how to really fit a garment on a woman. Seems like his background provides him with all the other skills necessary to "make it work."

And, did you catch that oh-so-cool self-congratulation! I think he was trying to hide the fact that he was internally jumping up and down and yelling "yipee, yippee, yipee." Kinda an interesting guy.

I did catch that, and giggled, because I'd probably be doing even more if it had been me! If I'd been grilled so hard and made to explain my reasons for even being there at the auditions, then ended up winning right out of the gate, I'd probably be doing the self-congratulation dance all along the runway!

Maybe it was just me, but for a moment I thought I saw a flash of bad-boy Santino in his eyes, like he was debating whether to make a really outrageous comment or deciding to rein himself in for now.

Was anyone else annoyed by the promo in which viewers could vote for which of the 3 contestants would be voted off that night? Anyone else notice that the three they offered ended up being the bottom 3 contestants, but that this fact was revealed BEFORE the show reached that point? I hope that each week we won't have a promo for viewer participation serve as a spoiler for which contestants are in the bottom ranks. That's part of the fun is being surprised when the judges make their announcements.

I'm kinda hoping he *does* have some of that "bad boy" attitude in him. He can obviously express himself well, even when put on the spot--I thought the "Scarlett O'Hara vs Carol Burnett as Scarlett" reply was brilliant and completely effective--I can see him being very witty and slyly sarcastic when he want to be, so I hope we see more of that in the future!

i totally agree with you.. i thought it was very annoying for them to reveal the bottom 3 BEFORE that segment even aired.. i can usually tell who the bottom 3 are, but i'd still rather the definitive results NOT be revealed before that portion of the episode has been broadcast.. hope they'll fix that next week..

For some reason I don't trust this guy. He seems too smooth, like he could talk his way out of or into anything. Anyone else have that impression?

I agree he seems a bit shifty to me. I don't trust him but his garment was beautiful. I loved his and the "noisy coat"....I wish I could have heard thoughts about some of the designs that were judged good enough to make it to the next round. I would have gotten rid of ole dude because of that basket hat though...even though Stacy's gown wasn't well executed it was better than that to me...I'm so excited for this season and to be on this board!!
Kathe123
This may be an old question, but who supplies the music for Project Runway? I love it! I love the gritty opening number, the Jeopardy-esque techno beat during the judging, the joyful acoustic guitar when the winner is announced and the instrospective piano piece when the loser says goodbye. This is great stuff!

Hello, all, I am pretty new to the PR boards (tho I watched all last season), but some of you (e.g., Iron Chef) may know me from Top Chef boards, where I sometimes, ahem, ran on a bit.

Listen, I see there are already 400 comments on the episode board, and I can't run thru them all, so I am hoping to get help here.

Has any info or consensus emerged on interpreting precisely how the top three and bottom three people placed in the episode contest? For example, I know everyone left on the runway after those whose "scores qualify" them are dismissed has either a higher or a lower score than the middle group. But, is the first person sent out after that--in this case, Laura--the number one runner up, or the number two runner up? It seemed like Robert was the number two choice for winner to me from judges' conversation, so that would mean the person sent out right AFTER the winner is named is the number one runner up (here, Robert), and the person sent out right BEFORE the winner is named is the number two runner up (here, Laura). Is that right?

Also, from the way they do it I can't tell, but it sure seemed from conversation (and my own eyes) that Vincent was in the bottom three--top of the bottom three.

If anyone can explain what is known or supposed about where each contestant actually ranked, I'd love to learn more.

Cheers,

Not sure that the formula holds true in every case, but yes, that's essentially it. After the obviously good ones are dismissed, then the nerve-wracking countdown to the loser begins. Although, in this episode, Heidi did it differently. In the past seasons, the loser was always left standing when the second-to-last person was told he/she was still in, and had a moment to compose him/herself while the other person was leaving the runway. But, in this Season 3 episode 1, Heidi actually named the loser FIRST when only two people remained. A nice twist. Wonder if she will do it all the time now or switch it up.

Ok this show only shows SKINNY no meat or anything people, what about the plus size people, I think that is not fair. I would like the show if they showed real people. And everyone looks so ATTRACTIVE you never see none gay or ugly people.

Like in season 2 that guy andre what was he kept in show. My baby sister could design the same thing like that.

I'm glad Project Runway is back! However, I must say, I'm not a fan of the new web layout they are using. I think the Season 1 & 2 layout was much more "user friendly" and the pictures of the designer's work on their Bios gave me a better idea of who they were...I miss it!
In addition...I just love Tim Gunn!
laura_lee
I'm not sure which category this goes under, but I just wanted to comment on the Project Runway web site. I'm hoping you might rethink the color scheme. I find the small, light blue text in the blogs hard to read and I'm not that old. Just a little useability suggestion.
laura_lee
I'd have voted to off the duvet dress that looked like a duvet dress. That was a mess.

We no longer have cable, is there a way to watch the episodes on the web or after they air via this site?
Thanks !!!
We have watched every episode since season one started and hate the thought of missing even one episode! We're dying here!

You can purchase Episode 1 on itunes for $1.99 and for a limited time the preview episode is free. I'm not sure how to do it but if you do, enjoy!

It usually takes me a while to warm up to the designers, but this year, I already have a clear favorite after the first episode. Robert Best...he seems classy and nice and talented...what a combination. I'm looking forward to watching him for the rest of the season.
Fashion_Diva
My favorite is definitly Allison, the cute little blond girl. I love her work and I love her style, and she's not obnoxious or cocky. And what is up with Millan and that dracula laugh he's got going on....lol

Is it me, or should robert with white dress, and red ribbon have totally won the last episode? and Bradley's design, the ugly comforter thing with that black blob on top should have been voted off. I actually likes the girl's design who was voted off. She's obviously not the next big american designer, but it was not her time to go, she could have still ahd time to prove herself
Kathe123
I totally loved Robert's dress. it had the right elements of being beautiful and whimsical at the same time.

As for Bradley's dress, I'm still on the fense about it. After watching PR 5 times now (and counting!!), I think the dress *might* have been prettier if it wasn't covered with that gawdawful shawl. I would liked to have seen the model remove it the same way that Jeffery had his model remove her coat.

I agree. One of the failings of high fashion, imnsho, is that the the fashions are designed for size 2 models. I used to be a size 4 and I can tell you that EVERYTHING looks good on a tiny body. We have an aging and expanding population. Translating high fashion into the general public requires that the designers begin to design for real women's bodies. I'd love to see some of the fabulous creative energy of the young designers put to designing beautiful clothing for women who have big hips, thunder thighs, a tummy pooch...you know. for your sisters, your aunts, your mom...This would make high fashion more accessible and more possible for the general population.

Since the competition takes place in the summer (while Parsons students are on break) and the three finalists' collections are being shown at Fashion Week in September, does that mean the three finalists only have a few weeks to create their collections?

In past seasons, they had the main competition during the summer, while Parsons students are on break. They narrowed the field to three finalists by the end of the summer, and the three finalists then had a good six months to produce their lines for Fashion Week the following February.

This compressed time frame must be horrible for the three finalists!

I was disappointed with Stacey being voted off. Vincent or Jeffrey should have gone first. Is Jeffrey going to be the next Santino? If so, then they'll keep him around for the drama, not for the designs.
Cindy1692
I have a new theory why Tim Gunn calls all the designers together and says something including the "this is totally against the rules"

Why does he say this? What do you think of this scenario:

Designers return to those "luxury Atlas apartments" (which may be luxury in NYC but are laughably overcrowded and borderline tacky in the eyes all of viewers west of the Potomac and east of LA)and find out the the decorating fairies, Ty Pennington and crew(sorry, wrong parent network), or anyone from HGTV(still wrong parent network)haven't appeared and redecorated those apartments for the second day in a row.

Totally pissed off as a group, although Malon is still bleating about bad feng shui, they first get drunk on the leftover champaigne from the first challenge roof party someone had the sense to pinch figuring they'ed be the last one down to the apartments with nothing decent left to choose from and everything looks better after a drinkie poo or two or three .Then they decide to call up and get all those aforementioned persons and show crew over to their apartments for serious redecorating. Malon stops complaining long enough to act as caller to said persons and show crews because faux Brit accent or not, Brit accent plus snooty attitude gets stuff done.

All the ruined stuff from apartments gets pitched off the apartment roof, liberally doused in alcohol and set ablaze, because aparently there is no elevator to get stuff down to ground floor and everyone is too drunk to get it down the stairs(although they try at first)

I was upset they showed the bottom three all of a sudden before the final commercial break. Hello....I did not want to know before the judging who the final 3 were!!! I thought that was more annoying then the little Washington Post thing. I read the NYT's so it did not matter.

Now..WHAT is up with the stolen/copied portfolio designs in one of the bad boys books!!??? Keith Michael has some trouble ahead it seems!! Will he be thrown off the show?
Here is the posting from the Defamer website:

tips on Television Without Pity accusing last week's challenge winner Keith Michael of having stolen several designs in his audition portfolio led commenters of bulletin board the Fashion Spot to do some digging. Amazingly, what emerged was that the thieving designer was also a lazy one: Michael's sketches are almost exact copies of the original runway photos lifted off fashion sites such as Style.com and Elle.com.

I would think for the integrity of the show that he would be sent home pronto. Designers were chosen to be on the show on the strength of their portfolios. Tim Gunn did NOT bring their clothes back to NYC to review. Their books came back and that is what Kors and Garcia etc were judging. Now I now someone can just take someone elses clothes, claim them as theirs, show up with a fake book and get on the show. Until they find out I can't thread a needle who knows!!

All I can say is that PR3 is off to a bodice ripping start as far as I'm concerned. I for one can't wait until tomorrow and have colored myself happier than heck that a) My job responsibilities have been shut down since Friday and cool.gif there has also been a freaking heat wave which means no going outside for any appreciable amount of time lest you fry. Summing it up, this has meant wasting an incredible amount of time on my computer, shamelessly googling anything remotely connected to PR3 and staying awake until 2:00 a.m. to watch for the gazillionth time the first episode and Bravo...I just want to say THANK YOU!!!!
Kathe123
Amen to that! I can't get enough PR!

Sheesh....and I thought I was alone! And to think we've ONLY seen he first episode of the season!

I have a feeling the execs over at BRAVO are either:
(a) laughing their collective culottes off, or
(cool.gif busy with their editing staff and corporate lawyers.

well, I am not saying it is right, but that is the fashion world. All the models are size 2 or 0. But I think that for this season, that would be a great challenge. For them to bring in new models, just for one challenge, of various shapes and sizes, randomly assign each designer these models, and have them design a dress that fits their proportions correctly. That would probably be quite a task for most of the designers.

I've brought this up as well. Doesn't seem entirely out of the realm of possibility either. It would be quite amazing to see some edgy new looks on plus-size models. Perhaps they could even get someone like Oprah (I think she's a size 14 these days?) or Elle what's-her-name as the guest judge.

One thing though, I'd love to be the proverbial "fly on the wall" in the workroom, just to hear the snarky comments from some of the designers!
LHalbig
Could someone tell me who designed Heidi's creme colored skirt and jacket/ skirtsuit that she wore for the tv spot/commercial which airs for PR? It has long sleeves, is fitted and the skirt is short.
Help!
wytwch
I agree that the size 0 model is the norm for HIGH fashion but isn't it the dream of most designers to see their POV translated into the general public, to make everyone more beautiful? Many of the designs you see during fashion week would only look good on Models. Unfortunately, ideas from high fashion get translated pretty badly into RTW. I think your suggestion of having at least one challenge with normal sized women would be a good test of the designer's talent. The average size for women in the USA is 12/14. These are just NORMAL women. I think a challenge like this would appeal to the viewers as well. If the designers make "snarky" comments it would only confirm what many people believe...that fashion designers really hate women!

Milan! You are such a talented designer. Don't give up! You are amazing!
stylykat
Angela, you should be ashamed of yourself. You have advertised yourself in this past show as useless! How did you skate through! I can't wait to see the next shows to see how the other designers treat you now...hope you don't last long...wow...talk about bottom of the barrel performance on that last one!
amolchan001
I think that Daniel Franco should have tried out again like he said he might in the season 2 reunion episode. I don't mean that he should have really tried out but just showed up as a gag. i hope he will be brought back to deliver a challenge or something. I also thought Santino should have done his Tim Gunn impression during tryouts.
