Thanks so much for airing this episode!!! I am so excited to see a transgendered guy represented on queer eye! Furthermore, it was treated intelligently and sensitively. Bravo rocks!!! Congrats, Miles!!
QueenAretha
bravo, queer eye, for this absolutely groundbreaking episode! it is so rare to see a well-adjusted transgendered person on television. miles was eloquent about his experience and the fab 5 were super supportive. america needs to see more of these points of view.

fantastic work! keep it up!

aw..Miles was super cute. I'm really happy for him. And Queer Eye/Bravo is awesome for having a transman on the show. The trans community needs more visibility and I'm so glad that they did this episode.
Who else thought he looked totally hot at the end?

I am a huge fan of the fab five. My 11 year old daughter and I watch it religiously and always enjoy the miracles worked on the show. I must say that Episode 302 bored us to tears. Miles is a lovely person and I respect what he has gone through, but the thrill was lost for us. I guess I miss seeing the uncomfortable straight guy being won over by the Fab 5 and their talents in the end. The beauty of the show to us is the contrast and collision of the two worlds... straight v. gay and finding mutual respect for each other. I would love to see a teamster or an oil rig worker being fabulized. Love the show... this episode just didn't connect for my family.

A heartwarming episode....snaps to Miles parents and family for the support they have given their child..Miles was very confident of himself,he needs that and more in todays world...great episode.....lets hope Bravo aks for more QE episodes in the spring!!!!!

I haven't watched the show in ages; it long ago lost its magic for me. But a friend alerted me to last night's topic and I just had to check it out. Thanks to all who played a part in making this show happen. Having known quite a few transgendered people in my life, I can say there isn't a group more discriminated against by straight--and often moreso ironically by gay--people than they are. It was wonderful to see a show with such a positive image of transgender people, and to see the QE guys interacting with Miles and his roomate with sensitivity and understanding was especially touching.

like someone else around here, i hadnt watched in a while. i was thrilled with last night's ep. as a nyc-transguy myself, i was impressed with the respectful and caring way that the "trans issue" was handled by the fab five, and by the way the whole ep was done. bravo to bravo and the queer eye team!

OMG! This was absolutely a fabulous episode... Mostly becasue I'm also FTM, but still... I just wish that Miles' roomate was gay... Austin was cute!!! ;3

I am so happy to see the support and acceptance for Miles as he travels this long road. Kudos to him and his family for being brave enough to be spokespeople for such a difficult topic for many. There as so many who are dis-owned and cast out because of the family and friends' personal issues. I'm so proud of Bravo for not shying away from such an important topic. Yea!!!

Hi. Does anyone know the glasses(brand) Miles was wearing when he was taking pictures and loading them on the computer? Not the aviator style he wore later on. Thanks!

Does anyone know the name of the song that was playing over the boat party at the end?

I lovedloved this episode! Miles is so cute and hyper, and his parents are great. Such a cute family. Also loved Ted's Son of a.... moment with the masked dude

Anyone know when this show will be available on iTunes? The last one listed is Anne Marie & Michael. I don't have a TV, so I've been following the season via iTunes downloads.

I love the Fab 5, and I think their transformations of Straight Guys with unusual circumstances (the burn victim springs to mind, as does the hunky model with long hair/beard -- sorry, can't remember any names today) are exceptional. This one, however, went so far beyond my expectations. I was moved to tears.

The best thing for me was Miles' haircut. His previous longish mop was cute but too young. Kyan's choice of stylists made him look mature and more male.

Loved the tips from Carson--long sleeves hide thin arms; stripes and ties that broaden chests. Wish more straight guys had a clue as to how to dress. I wish the Fab 5 would take on a few of the teachers in my building. Cute but clueless guys in the wrong pants, etc. I also wish they'd take on a baggy pants/oversized clothing guy--it's not chic if you have to hold onto the crotch of your pants to walk!

Thanks for the line at the end about tolerance and acceptance. People should be accepted.

Wow, look at all the new posters! I liked this one a lot too. It was really interesting, as I don't know any trans-people. Very eye-opening, and Miles family was so great and accepting. Quite the transformation too, as he looked much older, and much more confident.

I'm also impressed with Bravo's nerve - it makes up a bit for all the straight wedding episodes!
candozier
I thought this was a nice episode too...

Loved the PSA at the end about tolerance and acceptance.
I liked that Kyan asked him what his mother felt at the idea of her "little girl" no longer being her little girl anymore.

It's great to see lots of newbies.....and I'm already feeling guilty about what I'm going to post because everyone else said so many warm, fuzzy things. I love you all for your sweetness....I'm usually one of first peeps to ooh and aaahhh over the transformations but not this time. Okay, now that I've prepared you.....here goes: I thought Thom seemed withdrawn and uninvolved. Except for a couple of perfunctory hugs, he just wasn't his usual affectionate, touchy, feely self. (Let me take a moment here while I drift into a daydream about touching and feeling Thom.......okay, I'm back.) The rest of the Fab 5 were fine but Thom seemed turned off and uncomfortable and not in a funny, humorous way like in the James Boyd (forever remembered as "the nudist") episode. Even in the furniture store, it was like, "here's a couch/bed, here's an ottoman/coffee table/chair.....okay, we're done here. See ya." Night and day from the Anne Marie & Michael G. episode. I wish I could say I picked up on oodles of enthusiastic commitment from Miles but to be honest, I thought he seemed tentative at best. Fabulous family though and I really do want to send out pretty pink thoughts that it all works out for him. I could be wrong about this whole thing.....I live in fear of the day I make a mistake.....so I hope I don't get crucified as being too poopy. I just wondered if Thom didn't pick up on the same tentativeness that I was smellin'. Okay, I'll crawl back under my rock with Cruella DeVil now.

This is the most touching episode I've seen of Queer Eye. I don't think I've ever cried at the end of an episode...I am so happy for Miles!

You know, I picked up on the same thing with Thom. He did seem kind of uncomfortable and not himself. And it didn't seem at all like he disapproved, but more like he didn't get it, the whole trans thing. And I didn't say anything because I didn't want to sound like I'm being judgmental ... but I don't get it either!

And let me just say I'm ALL for Miles and Austin and every other trans person out there doing whatever they have to do to be themselves instead of living a life that's not true to who they are. I just am confused by transness! I understand gay, I understand straight, I understand people who have sex-change operations... but I'm really confused by people who were girls but are turning into boys but aren't actually getting sex-change operations apparently but they like boys AND girls...it's baffling! And just goes to show even further that you can't stick people into one box and expect them to stay there.

So I think my point was I kind of got the impression that Thom perhaps didn't get it either. And I think out of all of them, he's the one who has the hardest time with not getting it - with carrying on despite not understanding someone's lifestyle. I think with the James episode, he didn't get the nudist lifestyle at all, but it was hilarious because it was okay that he didn't get it. He could be very upfront with his horror at people who run around stark naked, but I'd guess he was having to be really careful about what he did and said around Miles, so as not to seem to be making fun of him and his lifestyle. Aside from the fact that Thom's gay and has had way too much experience with people judging and being disapproving of HIS lifestyle. So it would be really hard to say much about it without seeming hypocritical.

And tomasulo, thank you for bringing it up! I really did want to say something about my own confused reaction, but hesitated because I didn't want to be misunderstood. I thought Miles and Austin were fantastic, brave, admirable people, but I don't understand the whole trans thing. BUT I really appreciated this episode.

And now I'm done with my essay!

raindog: Thank you!....and bless your heart for understanding my post and for adding your own thoughts so eloquently. I really felt like I was alone in the "vibe" I was picking up from Thom but you really nailed it. He just wasn't smellin' it and, rather than say something that could have been misconstrued as negative or critical, he just withdrew. He was more affectionate with the "alien" self-defense guy at the end of the show than he was with Miles.

Its funny that you mentioned it I didn't noticed the first time around but the second time Thom seemed a little stand offish and not as funny ...guess there are things we don't always understand ....a real eye opener on what transgender people have to go through to get help....society does not make it any easier.....

Excellent point, designercat. I hadn't even thought about that. If a person as open, intelligent, and non-judgemental as Thom can be put off, then it's just the tip of the iceberg of what Miles (et al) have to face every day. And Ghod knows Thom was trying to do his best, it's probably just us die hard fans that even noticed that it wasn't his normal level of energy and warmth.

I am SO happy to have seen this episode because I was Miles' first roommate in college! I lost touch with him after graduating and have been trying to find him to catch up, and what a wonderful surprise it was to see him, looking handsome and so happy on your show! Thank you so much, BRAVO, for being so supportive of such a wonderful person. Congratulations, Miles on your transformation!! I am so proud of you! Love, your first (and third?) MHC roomie who misses you.

Wow, how cool is that, to find a long lost friend on QE! I hope this makes it easier to get back in touch with him.

Does anyone know where to find the recipe for the fish and noodles that Miles made?

Hey Everybody,
This is Auston from episode 302 Miles' roommate. I have gotten so much positive feed back on the show, and people want to know where they can find me and my clothes. So It was suggested I post some information. My website is underconstruction but I will send information on that soon.
Otherwise you can email me at ag.loverboy@gmail.
I have to say, Miles and I had a great time with the Fab 5. They were all super sweet and very silly. We both thought the show went really well. They did a great job of making sure we were represented as our selves. I hope they upload some out takes because there is so much good stuff that didn't make it in the original episode. We had such a good time hanging out with all the guys. Thanks to QE and everyone who enjoyed the episode.

Auston! How nice you dropped by! I'm really glad to hear you and Miles have been getting such good feedback. That's got to have been scary. The clothes you designed were fantastic - no wonder people are trying to find them. When you get your site up, post the link - I think more people read these boards than post, so it might generate even more business for you.
designercat
Hey Raindog...that was very nice of Auston to send word out about his clothes line...I'm sure there will be awaiting list. I hope Bravo puts the Miles episode on apple i-tunes. I am at a loss as to why it was not out on...after all if people do not want to purchase the episode they do not have to do so,while others would like to. Auston you and Miles are a great example for others to follow... continue success to you both.

This episode was important to me because I am a male to female transsexual. I'm in the early stages and take hormones but do not dress--mainly because I don't know what looks good on me. I loved this episode because it brought up concerns of my transbrothers. This show meant so much to me. Carson is in town for the State Fair horse show. I wanted to pick his brain about how to feminize my body and wear age appropriate clothing but I am trying not to be a stalker. Southern Comfort is happening in Atlanta soon. I'm sure the transgender women would love to get some advice from Carson. They have many heterosexual males who dress in femme and are always looking for beauty tips. This conference has facial feminization surgeons making presentations, classes on anything related to transition. It could be a cool show too.

Hi I wanted to add my voice to the thread.
I am Miles roomate Auston's brother. I am very very proud of my youngest of siblings and wanted to thank the Fab Five and fans for the huge support and possitive feed back given to Miles and Auston. I have not yet seen the episode regrettably but am waiting for the pod-cast. But I did read the posts on this board. I have also not met Miles. But I wanted to say to Auston, I love you and miss you so much. I can't wait to see you again and thanks for the birthday phone call. I am also happy to hear that Miles family was so supportive.
And Auston, I hope that you will always count on me and know I will always support you. I just think that it is important to let you know how proud of you I am.
Your favorite Brother
Arnt
P.s your my favorite brother too.
Pseunsestence
