CALady...thanks for the heads up on the video. It was so fun to watch.

I just had an idea. Wouldn't it be fun if PR did an "All Stars" kind of show where they brought back some of the designers we love that did not make final three. My picks would be Austin Scarlett, Daniel Franco, Andrea the Magnificent, and of course my secret TV love (ha!) Nick Verreos!

Who would be your picks?

What a great idea. Of course I would want Nick. LOVE HIM!!! but would also love to see Jay and of course Andrea. I miss Andrea. I was also thinking it would be fun to see them bring back former designers to assit the three finalist. That would be wonderful to see what they do together. Three from last season helping the final three of this season. Oh there is so much that Bravo could do and we know they read the boards so write these ideas down Bravo!!!

Oh how fun... definitely Austin, he was so talented and creative, entertaining also. I would also like to see what Malan would have to offer.

Oh yes, Malan! He'll be showing at Fashion Week next month so I'm very happy for him. Kara Janx too...I love her stuff and I think she had way more to show us.
MissOtis
I wonder if this New Jersey challenge is going to be another team challenge. We haven't had a team challenge in, uh ......... a week. This occurred to me because of Laura's "Sometimes I wonder about your choices" comment to Kayne and his "And sometimes I wonder about your character, which is worse" response. Although I can't imagine them being on the same team, what other stressful circumstance would produce such personal remarks?

I really liked Kara's collection last year. I was sorry she wasn't in the top three. Although I love Santino, I couldn't believe Kara was defeated by that gold dress.

I posted this on the designers post also but wanted to know if people agree or disagree with me.

I also was very pleased that Michael won this week. He is very talented and always presents himself well. IMO some of the designers are dressing so tacky. In "Andy's Blog" he interview Mr. Blackwell and he makes a very good point about the designers appearance.
"Can I be honest? What would really impress me, is to see some of your designers take more pride in their own appearance on camera, especially when they are presenting their clothes on the runway. Their personal wardrobe should reflect what they would like the public or judges to perceive in their work. For example, Heidi and Tim always look good and professional. I think that fosters respect and even commands the viewer to take them seriously as a designer. "

I highly agree. Remember Austin Scarlet and his suits? He was always dressed to the hilt. It is difficult for me to take some of these designers seriously if they aren't even willing to comb their hair.

I agree! I think some have a hard time leaving their artist selves in the workroom... they do need to be a bit more professional when trying to sell their vision to the judges.

This doesn't mean 3 piece suits. But clean up a little!

On another note, I really think about 1/2 of the designers don't go into this expecting to win. Come, on.... if you're Katherine or Bradley, you don't really see yourself on the same level as Michael, right? I think they go into it knowing they're not there for the long haul. That it's a good bit of advertising/marketing for them and maybe it sounds like a fun time (until they actually get there).

I really felt Kara's collection was more interesting and cohesive than those of the three finalists. It's too bad she couldn't bring more of that into the challenges. I do, however, believe she was rooked on the Garden Party challenge. Here dress was amazing and better than Daniel's.
Cindy1692
Probably it is just me, but there seems to be more commercials and less content this season. I think the show could go to a 90 minute format and then we might actually get about 56 minutes of content. And we would see more of Tim Gunn and his workroom comments, I think.

As to the grooming of the designers, they are working up to the last second and maybe some of them don't have the income or luggage room to look good on the runway too!

Last year, the Final Four/Five, wanted and got some personal makeover time for that makeover challenge, even though it took away from their workroom time.

With one less challenge(with Keith sent packing and Bonnie eliminated)maybe the Final Four could all get an extra day and makeovers as reward for making it so far. Also could be nice product placement for Macy's, Tresemme, and L'Oreal on what those stylists could do for real people as opposed to "perfect" models.

Okay, you can tell I've become a "Not What to Wear" on "The Learning Channel" fan.

Since one of the perks of my job is doing my own interlibrary loan, I requested two of the books shown for purchase on the PR shop site: the fashion draping and patternmaking ones(although earlier editions)and boy, no wonder Keith got kicked off for being in possession of them! These books will be no end of help for me in dressing the Tonner dolls I collect and the porcelain dolls I make.

The books and mags should be either available to all or banned.

As for the next challenge, just maybe what is in the crate is the latest model of a Saturn car and maybe they have to design a dress for the obligatory beautiful girl that has to "present" the car. This would explain both Michael Kors remark about being beyond the bounds of decency(although this could be from a more in the future episode).

In the preview, Heidi has said that so far the designers have had it pretty easy this season. I suspect that has to do more with the glamour of most of the challenges, and field trips confined to Central Park and Mood so far.

Also the designers look pretty pleased about whatever's in the crate at the docks, not disgusted if the design element was rags, trash, or tossed-out clothing. So I'm betting it is a Saturn.

That's a good guess, but the camera is looking up at the designers from practically ground level, and they are bending down to see whatever it is. What could possibly be that exciting that is so far down on the ground?

You're doing just fine. Your posts are insightful and thoughtful, and you're a wonderful new voice on this board.

But please, do take the proper time to study rather than gab with us here. We'll save some punch for you for whenever you come up for air.

I've thought about this, myself, Cindy. They certainly have the viewers to support it. I would like to see more of the individual designs and the thinking behind them without losing what we now have.

I have to say, the producers of PR are deliberately editing the show this season to make us love or hate a particular designer and then contrasting it with the surprise revelation later on that the designer actually is good and occasionally very nice.

What surprise awaits us next? I am suspicious of those designers that the editing has consistently portrayed as talented and self-confident. Or nice.

I can't believe that the producers have used up all their surprises in the first five challenges. And, since some of these personality issues seem to be exaggeraged or just plain created by slick editing, I wonder if we can trust our instincts about anybody we've seen in this show.

This bunch seems far more competitive than in prior seasons. To me, that looks like a recipe for lots of fireworks and squabbling as we get down to the finish line.

I agree with you FF1 (loved reading your take on everyone btw)

remember that it makes "good TV" lol

truly... even as opinionated I might be in my posts (choosing favorites etc) I just love to watch it all unfold and that's why I'm watching.

I don't think there is any way in h*ll she'd have won the Macy's challenge without Laura and Michael. Yes, give her points for selecting two of the best people for her team,

I wasn't here to read/contribute to that show here with everyone but I liked Keith's design that Alison and Jeffrey pulled off much better (the pants I would have bought in a second!)

I was really surprised to find Angela's outfit in the window and being sold by Macy's now. It reminds me of an old fad that was going on at the time I went to design school in the early 80s that I didn't like (short jacket is only okay for me with a dress. looks silly with hip huggers)

I entered the sweepstakes they had on the site and I had to laugh at myself "what am I going to do if I win this? teach Angela while we shop?" I didn't win though.....

She did pick some good people to team with but that was part of the challenge (being smart)

NEWS FLASH!

See the Bravo store for the current auction of the Episode 305 outfits. With a little over two days to go, the shocker is that Angela's outfit is the most highly sought after.
I guess the second real shocker here is that Vincent's outfit is so highly prized.

Update FEATURED AUCTIONS

1. Angela's Design Current Bid: $ 710.00
2. Kayne's Design $ 350.00
3. Michael's Design - Winner $ 315.00
4. Vincent's Design $ 270.00

very interesting but Angela's would be more consumer friendly.. they want to wear it right? Not many would want pink hot pants in their wardrobe even if Michael won. Kayne must be getting the goth vote (I would agree it's second most wearable).. but Vincent in 4th is odd.

FF1,

After reading the posts that have been going on for the past couple of days, some have said that the college OT has been, paraphrased on my part, wrong and unwanted. It was me who started it and I take full responsibility for it. I apologize to those to those I have offended.

I say this to you because I have enjoyed your poetry, banter as well as that of many others who have kept their hearts light, and an understanding that people can agree to disagree and still laugh WITH one another, not AT one another.

There are at least 2 separate, mean, tit-for-tats and (at this point OT spats) going on that have turned the board ugly. I have stayed out of it, but have tried to inject some levity back into the board by other means and been called on the carpet for it. I am placing blame on no one and don't want anyone to take it that way. I just want everyone to see what is happening.

I will go back to my paperwork and not bother anyone here again so that I won't offend someone with what may be OT. Life for me is too hard without that added burden on myself. I don't want to place any added burden on others on a weekly basis to have to listen to my unwanted OT.

I will miss the poetry, the upcoming best seller, the friendly discussions, ducky banter, and will leave with my last posted question still unanswered.

Please pass on to the others that I thank you for making me feel better when I really needed it. I hope family mends without setbacks, broken hearts heal quickly, and you all remember to stay safe.

Now just Plain Pooped

I have not been on the board this weekend and haven't gone through all of the posts yet...but for Pete's sake people...what is in the water?

2P2S, don't go...I have enjoyed all of your posts, OT or not. When it gets close to the next episode, we tend to go OT...we are getting to know each other and no matter where in the country you are, we have similar experience to talk about. But there is no need to bash someone for OT. Just skip over it...you don't have to read it. When I get to a post expressing an opinion of an episode that has been expressed by 15 other people, I reply to it or scan it or skip it all together. But I don't yell at someone just cos their opinion is a repeat.

JMHO!

OT - And I'm one of those sending my son off to college in ten days. A'm tearing up already. Will really miss the little fella (joke - he's 6'4", big and gangly like a baby St. Bernard).

The entire summer after my daughter graduated high school and before she went away to college, I was a real live b***h. I would cry (alone by myself) and then turn around and yell at her. She would get so mad and hurt, but my husband (in a rare moment of compassionate insight to my suffering) explained it to her. Once we got her to school, I was fine. For 20 miles (of a 365 mile/5 hour drive)on our way home, I sobbed like a baby. After that I was fine. It took my husband 3 days after we got home to start his 3 month "my little girl isn't here anymore" term.

Has anybody noticed that in one of the promos for the next episode, two yellow construction hard hats are clearly visible in the background?

What intrigues me is that the designers go to New Jersey, to some industrial loading dock or warehouse type location, yet they're all SMILING as they are opening up what looks to be a garage door, as if they are all getting cute little doggies again. Smiling? In New Jersey? This does not compute.

SORRY, SORRY to all you New Jerseyians. Just couldn't resist, being a Noo Yawker and all! The devil made me do it!

there was a new preview on Bravo for Wed episode and VERY briefly showed the guest judge. anybody know who it was. I didn't get to see it.

As one who lives in Atlanta, I would like to address this issue. If you notice, many times Michael has said "mother f***king". Yet you hear him being perfectly darling to his Mom on the phone. I honestly think young black males say these words all the time and never really think about what they actually mean. If you pointed out these phrases to him and asked him to take them literally, I think Michael would be offended. The reason I point out, in this context, that I am from Atlanta is that I don't know if this is regional or not. Certainly I see a lot of it in movies also. It is really one of my pet peeves (as a mother of a young man, I would have smacked my son a good one if he ever said such a thing.)

I don't think it is so much regional as generational. My daughter (21 Senior in college) has the same 'problem' with foul language. It is no big deal to her. She gets offended by the "feminazi" and "[expletive deleted]" comments, but she knows the person saying it doesn't always mean anything by it. I am on her all of the time to get out of the habit of saying that, because one of these days it will slip out in the wrong situation. Like a job interview!LOL! In a way, I suppose, it is a good thing to not be offended by these words, but you never know who will be.
McMel
You have dachshunds Food Pro?!? I have three of them. They are the greatest!
My guess for the challenge this week is Cirque de Soleil costumes. Bravo is always airing Cirque shows. They did an ice skating costume last year. They would need to practice someplace large like the warehousey place you see in the preview. I have no idea where their home base is but surely they have a tour of some sort that *could* be in Jersey. Quite a stretch I know but it's a guess...

If nobody has said it yet, welcome to the board! Get comfy and have some "Project Punch."

Welcome into the water, Mel. I am delighted to have someone from Oklahoma on the board. I have been defending Kayne because he is from Norman and I went to school in Stillwater. Lots of people here like him, but many don't like him and I am kidding them that they don't like him because he's from Oklahoma and can show that talented people don't have to be from NYC or LA. They can be from NOK. (Norman, Oklahoma!)

What I want to know is what, exactly, would prompt Michael Kors to say that the garment goes beyond the boundaries of decency. He's commented in prior seasons about outfits looking vulgar, but has never said that something is beyond the pale yet. We can guess from his prior comments that he doesn't like skirts so mini that the butt cheeks are peeking out, or side leg cutouts so high that the top of the thigh is exposed. He doesn't seem to have a problem with exposing a lot of chest, although he didn't like Wendy Pepper's see-through bodice on one of her finale outfits. So, what are we talking, here? As Tim Gunn would say, "It eludes me." Short of a peek-a-boo cutout at the points of the holy triangle, I'm wondering just where decency ends for him.

LOL. As exciting as it will be to see where they end up in New Jersey, I am even more interested in what sets Michael Kors off or even better who.

I got really iritated with MK during one of the challenges last year. It was when Nick lost his model and the "blonde who couldn't walk" wore Nick's black & white outfit. MK said that there was always something obscene about Nick's designs. That irked me...I didn't see that in Nick's designs. He never mentioned it on air before...I wonder how many times they cut it during editing.
tamarenne
Did anyone else notice the bad fit of Lauras mongolian neckline her outfit for episode 3? (think it was episode 3, Laura does a lot of mongolian collars apparently). It puckered up badly and you could see the bra on the model on the catwalk. tsk tsk Laura you can do better than that

I believe he said something similar, but using the word "vulgar", about Nick's designs during the flower challenge. I must have a vulgar streak, myself, because I liked Nick's outfit in that challenge.
McMel
Thanks for the welcome everone! Carole I am in Stillwater almost every weekend at the lake. While there certainly are some backward people in Oklahoma there are also some very fashionable forward thinking people here. I totally understand Kayne's design aesthetic and think he is very talented. I wouldn't wear his clothes though. Being the Virgo that I am I prefer clean lines and no fuss. I honestly haven't decided if I like Kayne or not. I really really want to like him. It is not easy being a flamboyantly gay man anywhere in Oklahoma so he is obviously very tenacious. I don't really like the way he treats Laura. I truly think that he and Laura have a lot more in common then he thinks. They are both fabulous divas! I do think however that he is getting a bum rap for "ratting out" Keith. There is a lot on the line for them. If Keith broke the rules with that much on the line it would be really hard to keep your mouth shut. Keith is so talented though that I think he just made his road to success a little bit longer. If Kayne hadn't tattled I really believe someone else would have eventually.

As for the punch I'll take a double T&T in a tall glass with extra lime. You don't have to worry about trying to go on the wagon with me around!

49.5 hours and counting . . . .

On the website for the Olympus Fashion Week in New York City, Project Runway is scheduled for 9:00 am, Friday, September 15. Jay MacCarroll is scheduled for that afternoon. That's the very last day. So, how soon after that will we see the finale?

By my calculation, they won't be down to the final 3 until the end of September, then will string out the "Tim Visits the Designers", the reunion show, and the 2-part finale during the month of October.
MissOtis
Hi McMel! What would have happened if Keith had won? It would have been unfair to all of them, if he hadn't told. Kayne isn't the one, who threw Keith off the show. The producers did. Keith is the one, who put all of them in this position.

Sorry, but I don't really come to Project Runway for men's fashion. As for the guys with 6 pack abs. Hello? Bear, here! Not interested. I want a little tummy, a little muscle and a whole lotta fur.

I laughed madly all through "Manhunt". Damn, male models are dumb! So lame.

So, you're a guy. What about all the women who have to stare at these undernourished female models the entire season? Give me a men's swimsuit competition any day.

I am a straight female and here is my opinion: In general, men look better with more clothes on and women look better in less. I would rather see a man in a tux, a business suit, or a military uniform than a Speedo.

OFF TOPIC.. and an FYI

I noticed that there was some snippiness on the board this past week... well folks .. it was Full Moon week. For those of you who aren't aware... even "normal" people have a tendency to act ...ummm.... different LOL. I have worked with the public for over 40 years.. and when there is a full moon "the nuts come out to play!" .. but I have seen perfectly nice people suddenly go without sleep and blow a gasket over some trifling little thing. Anyway.. thought I would let everyone know.. probably perfectly nice people.. but that old moon will do strange things to a persons brain! (That includes me! LOL)

Maybe that explains why I came home from work and all of my husband's stuff was gone...

I'm still crossing my fingers that BettleJeff gets auf'd this week. Please oh Please Fashion Gods!

And now for something completely different. I don't have kids and so I have no college worries (unless someone wants to create a scholarship for obedience school for my unruly dachshunds!) but that kind of OT doesn't bother me at all. If I don't want to read it I just skip it. No big whoop.

Back to PR. I think as the field narrows we'll see more Tim. At least that is my hope. I LOVE Tim!

Also it occured to me today that Bonnie kinda got screwed on her exit interview. Even Madly Bradley is on Bravo's homepage. Last wekk was all about Keith. Poor Bonnie.

Well said. I like your name for Jeff, and I agree on the off-topic stuff. Sometimes I'm in the mood for it, sometimes I skip along.

I hope they arent' trying to make the show more like Top Chef, which has no mentor figure. In my opinion, Tim Gunn is one of the best parts of the show, and he seems like he is enjoying it, too.

Maybe that explains why I came home from work and all of my husband's stuff was gone...

Cheryl, reminds me of the time I came home from work, parked the car in the garage and went in the kitchen door. First thing I noticed, there were pine needles all over the floor, so I followed the trail. He even took the Christmas tree - lmao

Sounds like he was a real Grinch!

Thanks, it makes me feel better to know that other people have gone through it, too, and survived. Right now I'm just using Project Runway to avoid reality.

I should have mentioned that it was a fully decorated and tinseled tree - bah, humbug

We've gotten a few new posters in the last few days, so I thought I'd post these sites for them. They are both hysterically funny.

Scroll to the Arts & Entertainment Box on the opening page to Michael Kor's photo for Dave White's article. You can read all his previous ones, too.

Be sure you type runGay instead of runway. Their motto is "They Sew. We Rip".

Thank You! Thank you! Thank You! I haven't laughed that hard since I saw Corky's Twiggy. I can now look at these boards with a lighter heart. Thank you!

Ok, now I am REALLY pissed. I just watched Episode 305 again, and it has been altered. Remember that comment from Diane von Furstenburg to the effect that Jackie O would have worn the outfit that Robert designed (not the fabric, but the style), that comment that saved his butt? It isn't in there any more! WTF????

This is the second time that I've seen something being cut out of the episode upon rerun. Are the producers trying to grab more time for commercials to make a buck? Every time I watch the episode it seems shorter and shorter, for God's sake.

I am really feeling manipulated as a viewer. Criminy!

You guys have just GOT to see the "Interview With the Gay Boys" on http://projectrungay.blogspot.com/

Make sure you type rungay, not runway.

Kayne and Robert dish on their fellow designers and their creations. A lot.

I am a straight female and here is my opinion: In general, men look better with more clothes on and women look better in less. I would rather see a man in a tux, a business suit, or a military uniform than a Speedo.

Sorry, all, haven't been hear for a few days. I guess I missed a good poetry session last night?

Well, I'm a gay man so I would rather see a naked man, but then that's just me. LOL. Truthfully I'm not one of those gay men who can't appreciate the female form. I think women have beautiful bodies. I can definately say there are times when I've said "I wish I was straight so this wouldn't be wasted on me". Unfortunately you like what you like.
