Discuss the new British invasion and their answer to the Fab Five as they transformed Barra, the voice-over announcer trying to cross over to the world of presenting.

Ok... I'm saying it along with (I'm sure) several others...
When OUR boys go to England... they need to take the QE UK cameramen and go get a spray on tan - just for us.

WHEW! --De
Depoetic
Ok... I decided to just sit back and enjoy it. I knew I'd miss OUR boys... but I decided to give the QE UK boys a chance. **Wild little giggles**

Ok... I WOULD watch this show - if it ran, like, late night after OUR boys. I thought they were completely charming gents - and I AM a BIG fawning dweeb when it comes to men with accents!

I died when I saw the whole spray on tan scene - and again when they "demonstrated" Barra's tan lines!!! ! (Come hither Carson, Kyan, Ted, Thom and Jai... we need to update your look... this way for a spray on tan... no, Carson, you're not too tanorexic already... don't mind the camera boys... here's the "pants"...!)

I loved the tea shopping - and yeah, I sing, so I have used all those elements to help when having trouble with my voice - so it does work! I would add one last thing if experiencing a sore throat... China Jasmine.

I wasn't crazy about the clothes... but that strange jacket? I've seen a picture of Carson wearing it, so I can't really guage if these would have been clothes HE would have picked or not.

Their designer has a different flair, and I loved seeing his personality in their colorful mod loft. Their grooming guy was SERIOUSLY hot! (The blonde one.) I swear I'll learn their names before I do one of my long diatribes.

It's easy for me to relax and enjoy this episode, because I know OUR Gentlemen Five WILL be back next week. If I were overseas - I would have been really uptight about these guys.

I loved the backyard - very kid friendly, I loved the clothes, I wasn't totally keyed into the humour, I loved the wife and the hot Access Hollywood guy! And hey, wasn't that SG Mark Finnegan's long lost twin at the Access Hollywood Studios during the screen test?

**Snaps** to Barra Fitzgibbons for doing so well as to land a re-occuring spot on Access Hollywood UK!

I have to admit - I laughed and was really able to enjoy this episode... but I AM heavily medicated. (Just kidding.) Laughter is the best medicine and I do feel better.

Peace pets! Can't wait to see all of y'all's take on this little peek across the pond!

OK, now I really haven't seen this episode yet because I was watching something else, but I did flip over during commercials and managed to see the spray-tan segment. All I could think of was how freaked out John Verdi was compared to this UK straight guy when he had to change into those skimpy shorts.

I'll have to watch my tape tomorrow. I'm anxious to read what you all have to say.
Nonsense05
Ok, so at first, this wasn't my favorite episode ever, but it sorta grew on me as time went along. I wasn't wild about the first part - the entry of the house, but i guess there's just no comparison to our boys. I have to admit though, after that tan and with those beautiful blue eyes, Barra was quite hot!
My personal problem was, I could never tell any of the UK boys apart, so i eventually resorted to identifying them by outfit. Barra was easy to pick out though in that (no offense to him) hideous sweater.
I have to admit though, that the reveal on this one was great. I don't really know what to say about it other than it was emotional. The only problem was, that there wasn't much in the way of cooking, but i guess one can only do so much without Ted. If I think of anything else to say, I interject it at other random points.

Hmmmm....ok

I like Tristan - like him alot and love his looks...he'll never match my husband Thom but I like him. My daughter liked Dane because he looks exactly like Nick Carter from The Backstreet Boys...he really does! The group is not NEARLY as funny as our boys but that just may be because I may not get U.K. humour.

I liked seeing Tristan actually working with the hair and it came out great! The shave topped it off, he came out to be quite a looker. And the home looked very nice - I really REALLY missed Thom and can't wait to have him back next week - but the home looked nice. The bedroom was beautiful and I liked what he did with the garden, colors and all - everything looked like it had more space.

I didn't think much about the fashion guy but I liked the clothes he put Barra in - especially that white textured shirt, REALLY liked that shirt. Combined with that black suit, he was set!

I loved his wife's reaction, she was so touched and grateful. And the story of how she first met him was cute

Funniest part of the show? When Tristan took him to the Access Hollywood/Access U.K. studio to meet - whoever that was - and they all began hugging each other...and the camera, lol

Ok, so now that that is over...

BRING BACK OUR BOYS!!!

Business cards? Tea? A sandbox and (yawn) photos on the wall? Some sort of product in his hair? (Maybe that was exciting...I'm not sure...I think I nodded off at that part....that's NEVER happened during the show before!) THOM? WHERE ARE YOU? THOM? ARE YOU THERE? BRITISH ACCENTS OR NOT, I REALLY DON'T HAVE MUCH TO SAY ABOUT THIS EPISODE. I'M SORRY BUT IT'S SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT....BRAVO, DON'T YOU GET IT? THOM, KYAN, CARSON, TED, JAI....THERE ARE NO SUBSTITUTES! CALL IT CHEMISTRY, KHARMA, WHATEVER...IT'S NOT JUST ANY 5 GAY GUYS...IT'S THOM, KYAN, CARSON, TED, JAI!!! PLEASE, SCOUT OR BRAVO, CONSIDER MY SCREENPLAY OR SOMEONE ELSE'S SCREENPLAY. PLEASE REALIZE THEIR POTENTIAL. IT'S BIGGER THAN QE, IT'S BIGGER THAN BRAVO. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION! APPRECIATE! WAKE UP! REALIZE! (BBB: ALL CAPS ARE INTENTIONAL....I AM SHOUTING!)

I really liked the UK edition. One notable difference is that they all seemed to work as a team - each one contributing to the overall make-better of Barra. I particularly like Peyton, who was genuine and not at all over the top. Bring on more UK editions!
Meghz
I will say to the positive, I loved Barra and his family.

That said, I hated it. *curls into a ball and dies* Meep. Not funny at all. I chuckled maybe twice. I'm so incredibly disappointed. I'm leaving for 3 weeks on Friday - I'm not going to see QE for THREE WEEKS! And this, this abomination, is all I have to hold me over for three whole long weeks!
mjjgavaghan
i saw the UK version and i loved it, i wish bravo could show more of them and also the regular fab 5. it would be interesting if they all got together.
tomasulo
On my previous post I said "kharma" when I actually meant "charisma".....my bad.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that!! The resemblance was actually freaking me out a bit too much. I must confess, I couldn't watch the whole show. I turned it off half way through. I just couldn't get into the fake fab 5 last night. Maybe I'll give them another chance if they show a repeat.
ThomFoolery1
To put my two cents in on the episode:

I wasn't excited about it at first- I thought our guys do a better job of messing up the houses when they first walk in. I missed the one liners and crazy items the boys pick up in the beginning to play with.

But it grew on me. I liked the SG and his wife was really funny. Congrats to him for getting the job- he had the reporter speak and head movements down pat. (Not to mention the eye bulge!)

None of the British QE stood out to me, but they more funny moments than I expected and I enjoyed them. (The designer DID look just like the Backstreet Boy, and the bald one looked like Colin Farrel without hair!) I liked their hip tips because they interacted more with each other in them, using each other as props.

The major differentce was- the dog!! What's its name? It was so cute!

I wonder if they have shown our guys over there?

In conclusion- it was a nice change, but I missed our crew.
lewisifer13
How I hated it!!! Words cannot express my disappointment... nay, my utter DESPAIR upon seeing this episode. What makes the true Fab Five fabulous is their uniqueness as individuals, their enviable talents (except for Jai, who is probably just there to look pretty), and the fact that they come across as REAL people and not just a bunch of annoying little queens you might meet at the club some night. Ted, Carson, Thom, Kyan, and Jai could, I think, make the most obnoxious homophobe on the planet think twice about stereotyping gay men; the UK QE bunch would probably make that same homophobe shake their head in disgust and mutter "Just what I'd expected."

In addition to being a pack of nearly indistinguishable "screaming queens," these fellows just didn't strike me as funny. Gone was the over-the-top yet tongue-in-cheek humor of Carson, Ted and Thom's dry wit, Kyan's bitchiness, and Jai's chidlike goofiness. What did we have instead? A bunch of over-the-hill club kids who dressed a straight man up in a suit that was too small for him. Ugh!!!

Please, oh please, let's not have any more of this foolishness. The original, and to my mind the ONLY, Fab Five have those British fellows beat in all areas -- intelligence, talent, humor, uniqueness, and looks (even Carson -- at least he has that athletic build from all those years of horseback riding). Let the US boys continue to make the world a better place; the "other" QE guys shouldn't give up their day jobs.
ThomThyme
Hallooooo BOYS where are you?? I miss you!!!!

This was a really interesting episode. I loved the intro "All Things" and how they customized it to the UK edition with the same poses as our boys.

I almost fell off my chair when they showed Barra (who is very cute!) changed into his g-string for the tanning.

Now Thom Wives...I am sure you would love to see Thom doing this activity! hee hee! Not to mention Ky-ites!

I also got a kick out of the wife patting Barra's butt as they went up the stairs when he was showing the apartment.

That jacket did not suit Barra, a nice tailored suit would have made him look much better. I loved his hair!

I liked these boys but with their thick accents I really could not understand what they were staying. They obviously thought Barra was quite sexy!

I look forward to next weeks when our boys make better a sixty something year old!

I also liked this edition. It did have a slower start than our faster paced american style, but that's a cultural difference as far as I'm concerned. I also loved Peyton -- his sincerity was so heartfelt. I would love to see more of these in addition to our american episodes. But what I think would be really great is to see either a showdown between our boys and theirs or a sort of international exchange...
big_fan_of_Jai
Okay, our Fab 5 are much better than U.K's, but hey, that's just my thought. They weren't as funny or as good as Ted, Thom, Jai, Kyan, and Carson. It just didn't click with me. They didn't do as much either. I think my favorite part was watching the wife's reaction to the changes. Did you see the hammock? It was Rainbow Pride! Bravo, please just stick with the orginal Fab 5. Ted, Thom, Jai, Kyan, and Carson are just better.

Hi

It's good to have you here.

You're not from the U.S., are you?
tomasulo
Good grief, I'm replying to myself! I've lost my mind or else my brain is still numb from last night's show. Looks like I was almost the only one who was totally bored by this ep and less than thrilled by the UK guys lack of imagination. This is the first time I've ever posted anything this negative about the show but I swear to ghod, I was fighting to stay awake. Thom, wake me up! (With a kiss would be my preference, Pumpkin)
Jujubee419
As much as I missed our boys...I kinda liked this ep. I'm a sucker for British accents and I've always wanted to visit London.

Anyone else think Peyton (the food and wine guy) looked kinda like Moby? And I think the grooming guy (forget his name) looked sorta like Johnny Depp in From Hell, with the facial hair.

I liked the culture guy, though, because he really reminded me of one of my friends from high school. Same voice, mannerisms, etc. But that Nornam Bates impression was really creepy.

Not a bad ep, but I can't wait till next week when we return for OUR boys.
ted_n_kyan
OMG I missed our Fab 5, but I loved the British guys too. I am fool for accents so you can imagine how crazy I was going. But I absolutely love Barra he was such a cool guy. Dane and Tristan are definitely hot!!! Dane was just beautiful. I wished though that Kyan and Ted were getting the spary tans. Oh well. That ep was just fabulous, but I still love Jai, Carson, Thom, Ted and Kyan and I can't to have them back.
Kyote
A lovely couple. An okay show, but not the Fab Five by any stretch of the imagination. I wish the Brits continued success, but I don't care to see them again. I missed my Carson, Thom and Ted fix way too much!
raindog
Well, it was watchable just for kicks, but I really doubt I'd ever watch a UK one again. These guys were ok (I can NOT remember any of their names, and kept getting confused about who did what) but I missed the hilarity of our guys. And the chemistry. And let me just say that when Kyan appeared for the hip tip, my husband and I both shrieked, KYAN!!!! simultaneously.

The design guy was NO Thom, either. I kept thinking I could have done as well as that, and for the garden they should have just called in Ground Force.

On the plus side, they had very cool accents and it was lots of fun seeing London. And they certainly didn't do a bad job, but it just paled in comparison with ours. The REAL one.

But I have to ask... what was with the sporadic subtitles??? That was weird. I do watch a lot of BBC but they didn't seem the slightest bit difficult to understand, and why did they just do them occasionally??
LilQueerEyeFan
Okay....what i'd like to say about this episode is that not much about Barra really changed that much. I mean, sure he got a little bit of change to his house, some tea, and a haircut, but they didn't do nearly as much as the US Fab 5 does. They work more as a team. Also, there wasn't that much humor. It sure seems like they were laughing a lot...maybe because it is hard to figure out exactly what they are saying because of the accent, or maybe they find that different things are funny. I don't know. Maybe if I lived in the UK and had never seen the US version, I'd eventually get used to Uk guys, but since I am a fan of the US version, I think nothing can replace our Fab 5.

~~~Have a good day! LIZZY
Meghz
Well, I watched it again, and I liked it better the second time. Still not as much as 'our' Fab 5, but it wasn't so terrible. And they did do a very good job - the house looked amazing and obviously Barra looked a hundred percent hotter. *drools at spray on tan* I think I had to watch it more than once to catch all the funny parts underneath the accents (although I loooovved those). So it wasn't too terrible. This Peyton person didn't do nearly as well as Ted, his segment was really short and he should have made more than just tea. O.o I am mildly Ted-obsessed though, so that might have something to do with it. The culture guy grated on my nerves a little, but I really liked the grooming guy (was it Tristan?) and the interior design guy (no clue what his name was; I couldn't keep track!) Still, I WANT TED, CARSON, JAI, KYAN AND THOM BACK NOW!!! *pouts*
Believe me, Tomasulo, you are not the only one who was "less than thrilled" (What a positive euphemism, much nicer than what I would've said.) by this episode. It is only the next day, and I already have absolutely no memory of it. I found myself wandering around the room and answering email during it, which is definately a first for me. One of them was from a British friend; it had only one line, "See, I told you."
By the way, your "Good grief, I'm replying to myself" had me in hysterics! It pretty much summed up how I feel about the whole episode. Thanks for the giggle. I needed it.
BRAVO! While we appreciate your somewhat feeble attempts to broaden our horizons, please don't ever do this again.
I seriously dug their groovy loft! As for the grooming guy, he was a brunette: Tristan. And not my type. The blond was the decorator, Dane. I felt weak looking at him, but I can't fantasize about him because he's too flamboyant. The fashion guy was so lispy and flamey and made Carson and Jai seem burly by comparison.
TTB: You loved the mirror Hip Tip so much, that Bravo decided to give you one with the English decorator.
I HATED that, too. British English is English in it's purest form. We shouldn't need subtitles unless it's something too slangy.
i agree with you. a complete bore. not funny. not innovative. no personality. i couldn't tell who did what. yawwwwwnnnn!!!!!!
They seemed INCREDIBLY VAIN and self-conscious. why were they wearing sunglasses inside? why were they wearing sunglasses at all? it freezing bloody London, people!!!
Ok, i live in the UK and i have to say i find Queer eye for the straight guy UK deeply embarassing! The guy who does the clothes is a fool- carson is camp in a strong, dignified way whereas that guy is a complete mess. I don't think i've seen that episode you guys have seen but i've seen bits of a few and they are all so amateurish! They don't take them to nice food shops-they take them to supermarkets!!!!!!!They also seem to be able to pick the most lifeless straight guys ever.
Ok-well that was a rant and a half! But seriously, be proud of your guys and please beat off this nasty British scum!haha!
tomasulo
Meghz is right. My opinion was a bit more favorable after the second viewing. Apparently I had dozed off the first time just prior to the very important tanning scene. The UK guys were very sweet but I think my snarkiness was derived from the realization that QE (although extremely entertaining and, in my opinion, better than 90% of the stuff on t.v.) is really all about Thom, Kyan, Ted, Carson and Jai. This was somewhat of a surprise even to myself. I guess I had survived the Lawson C. episode in better shape than the UK episode only because of Carson and Ted. And this is nothing against Lawson or Barra....I thought they were both great guys.
whiskers
mmmmmm hmmmmm ... and the v. delightful UK design doctor (if dolph lundgren & ashton kutcher had a gay english baby ...) would be SO welcome to join in, and, if just UK design doctor & kyan wanted to participate -- that would be okay too. that would be very very okay.
ALSO -- have decided to call the little black thing they wear a ... "nad hanky."
Saria_Black
^^;; Actually, I found the UK edition rather enjoyable. I'm a huge Dane fan, anyway. And not because he looks like Nick Carter- his voice is very attractive. I suppose since I'm just 15 years old, I'm easliy amused, but I found the change in characters refreshing. Don't get me wrong- I love the US fab 5 deeply, and I'm a Ted-crazed fangirl, but I also love the UK and plan to live there, and have a sort of attachment to their fab 5. Enough to find many pictures and print them out at least. All the same, I found it interesting that Tristan actually cut the hair. And they all seemed to have had the ability to get him involved job wise- what with all the people they knew- rather than just the culture vulture Jason. happy.gif Anyway, I ought to wrap this up by saying I personally found the UK episode enjoyable.
Oh DARLIN! Some of you may have read - ages ago - my whimpering about missing my friend Tod who transferred from Dallas to Austin to London to continue working for Toni & Guy??!!! I didn't catch that was where they went until the repeat - and THEN I was screaming because they didn't do a walk through of the Salon! (REALLY picky place - they would never have let the grooming gent cut Barra's hair there, you'd have to use one of THEIR stylists - but if Tod is/was still there HE would have done the color highlights!!!)**De pouts**
It was a terribly wonderful treat to see the place, though!
...And Ummm... MGK? Those "nickers" are a company wide product... and Toni & Guy has a couple spots in DFW! New York, too!
Ok, Let's play "Catch Up."
TTB and Thommygirl Dane really DID have that Nick Carter look, didn't he? (A few pounds heavier, rounder face and dark eyebrows and roots and he'd have been my friend Tod... but Tod acts like Kyan and Thom.)
Welcome back jujubee419! Haven't seen you in a long while! How've you been? I agree - Peyton DOES look a bit like Moby! I was struck by how angular his face shape was... like a light bulb! LOL!
Lewisifer13, When I saw your name I burst out laughing and my first thought was: "Get thee behind me Satan!" LOL! At least we have OUR dear gentlemen back next Tuesday. (The poor folks overseas have to wait patiently for the US team to return to them, and they are WAY behind!)
Be patient, hon - the Boys of Scout/Bravo will be back. (I agree, MGK, the Whisker's quote was MORE than appropriate.)Welcome to the fray, hon.
Dahl and QEGirl Welcome to the forum, kiddos! I think our dear Fab 5 work well as a team too - but I did enjoy getting to see the NBC formulated QE team from Britain. I've been curious! It was a fun glimpse. (Still say it would be fun to see the episodes late night!) ...And HEY! Peyton does windows! He!
mjjgavaghan and Ted_n_Kyan Lawdy, peeps! Where've y'all been? Long time no post, pets! Welcome back into the mix, kiddies!
I missed our boys too - (Thank the lawdy for VHS tape!) But as for OUR boys getting together with THEIR boys? Kyan said that immediately after they shoot the QE Dallas episodes late August/September they're heading for the UK to shoot episodes THERE! I suppose Bravo HAD to let us see the UK folks in order to prepare us for this crossover! (Should be tons of fun!)
Big_fan_of_Jai I agree. The rainbowed back yard was a bit TOO Romper Room for me - but then again, it's dreary weather in London a lot of the time - so bright colors might be a cheery pick me up.
ThomFoolery1 (Still sorry you had to re-signup), but yes, OUR dear boys are seen all over the globe - and were in the UK before NBC took the initiative (Separate from Scout) and created QE UK.
Meghz I'm so SORRY you're having to run away! Please hurry back soon! I hope you'll get to see the shows via VHS or re-run... and I hope you have fun while you're away, hon! Come back soon!
Tomasulo Hello you screenplaywritingalyou! Don't worry about the misnomers - I think our guys have wonderfully Charismatic Kharma! (Besides, who am I to judge? I just re-read my post and WHEW! there was more of my back's pain medication still on my system than I thought!)
To all the long lost children and newbies - I hope you pull up a chair and stop by often!
I watched it a second time too then my daughter put it on again this morning before I left for work. Watching it again did make it more appealing. I was better able to catch what they were saying (rewinding helps). The grooming guy is Tristan - yeah, loved him even more the second time around! But sorry Tristan, you'll never beat Thom in my heart (I think he's sighing in relief). The interior designer was Dane - I think he's why my daughter keeps watching it over and over, lol
Barra did look incredible afterwards and I loved his wife too - they make a splendid couple. So the show was not that bad BUT...next time make it an addition to QE night, don't let it take over.
5 days, 6 hours, and 45 minutes til new QE with Thom and the boys!
I think this is the first time I've EVER preferred the US version of a show to the British version - although I don't think anybody could make a different version of Queer Eye with any success whatsoever because it's not the show itself - it's the Fab 5. They ARE the show. So I don't fault the UK for trying!
But we've totally ruined enough of your shows that I think we can be graceful about this one. Did anyone see the US version of Coupling, for example, that was on the air for, oh, five minutes? Talk about embarrassing.
Waaaaaay too tame for my tastes! These guys were quiet, respectful, and kind. Nothing like our boys! I fell asleep on it! Good thing I taped it 'cause that tanning scene was wonderful!
The UKFab5 all look alike. But, it did like the culture guy. He was hilarius(sp) and very talented. I think he did the "Jai part" proud.
Hated the clothes. They look too small for the straight guy. Must be a UK think.
Loved the language lessons (translations). I never knew British English was so drastically diffrent from American English. I always thought *everybody* talked like Americans, just didn't know how to spell (guess whether or not I've been out of the US).
The babies were adorable! Especially the infant when she first saw the UKF5! Those kids were totally characters!
Bottom Line: There's no Fab 5 like *our* Fab 5! And, there are no straight guys like *our* straight guys!
What makes the true Fab Five fabulous is their uniqueness as individuals, their enviable talents (except for Jai, who is probably just there to look pretty),
All true QE fans know that Jai isn't just a pretty face - he has the hardest job out of all the guys. Thom's is the most strenuous and most noticeable change but Jai has to dig through the SG's psyche.
Gone was the over-the-top yet tongue-in-cheek humor of Carson, Ted and Thom's dry wit, Kyan's bitchiness, and Jai's chidlike goofiness.
Kyan's b*tchiness? Where did he ever display that kind of attitude?
^^;; Actually, I found the UK edition rather enjoyable. I'm a huge Dane fan, anyway. And not because he looks like Nick Carter- his voice is very attractive. I suppose since I'm just 15 years old, I'm easliy amused, but I found the change in characters refreshing. Don't get me wrong- I love the US fab 5 deeply, and I'm a Ted-crazed fangirl, but I also love the UK and plan to live there, and have a sort of attachment to their fab 5. Enough to find many pictures and print them out at least. All the same, I found it interesting that Tristan actually cut the hair. And they all seemed to have had the ability to get him involved job wise- what with all the people they knew- rather than just the culture vulture Jason. happy.gif Anyway, I ought to wrap this up by saying I personally found the UK episode enjoyable.
Welcome to the forum, hon! I just watched it again (Still trying to sort out who's who) and still was able to enjoy myself. I cannot wait for next week to see OUR Gentlemen Five, but It was good for a laugh.
Welcome to the forum, hon! Hope you pull up a chair and visit us often!
Peace and grace to you!
Time to put my two cents in on this one:
I liked the UK edition of QE. Granted, not as much as I like the US edition, but it was still fun in it's own way.
I'm risking having random household objects pelted at me for admitting this, but Dane was HOT!! Of all the UK Fab 5, he was my favorite. However, as interior designers go, he's still 2nd place to our own Thom. (And his trusty Beagle Paco.)
Julian wasn't half-bad either, and I loved the little doggie he had. I think the dog's name was "Lulu" but I could be wrong.
Actually, the best things about the UK edition of QE were the little doggie (I just wish it had been a Corgi), the straight guy and his family (that little boy was one tough music critic), and of course, Dane. Oh, and lest we forget the tanning scene with the black G-string. That must have taken some considerable bravery, and Barra pulled it off very well. (Figuratively speaking, naturally.)
Now I suddenly want a cup of tea. Maybe some vanilla tea with honey. Or some decaf green tea with honey.
Except the honey has crystallized. Any ideas on how to un-crystalize it? Thanks in advance.
See ya round!
I admire your taste in men!
ALSO -- have decided to call the little black thing they wear a ... "nad hanky."
LOL! I know this could probably go on the H/T thread, but I tend to go off-topic anyway, so why stop now: You know that hair removal system called "Nads"? I've always gotten a kick outta their name. I wonder if it's safe to use on hairy, well you know.
... what was with the sporadic subtitles??? That was weird. I do watch a lot of BBC but they didn't seem the slightest bit difficult to understand, and why did they just do them occasionally??
think that was supposed to be funny. several years ago mtv interviewed noel & liam gallagher, and used subtitles -- that was funny, (and, um, pretty necessary).
this show -- most amusing bit (entire package ... B-, with lots of red comments written in the margins -- WAY better than 3/5 of the US premiere episode group, though) was the little boy's nasty reaction to his mom's singing ... so funny. badly behaved children -- pure comedy gold.
oddly enough, reminded me of the Ellen that the real ff were on ... a funniest kid contest (?) entry: off-camera adult singing "twinkle twinkle little star" to the great distress of a toddler who ends up spitting ... same kinda thing -- little kids getting mad because mom's not acting like mom.
They seemed INCREDIBLY VAIN and self-conscious. why were they wearing sunglasses inside? why were they wearing sunglasses at all? it freezing bloody London, people!!!
Well, in the John Sica episode, I was wondering that. I mean, first John S. puts on his sunglasses, then his poker buddies come in wearing sunglasses, which is extremely weird because it was totally dark outside. I seriously have no idea why the UK guys were wearing them. Ultra Violet rays from the sun can still harm your eyes, even if you are in london. Inside: I have no idea what they were thinking. Outside: I might be able to see that as reasonable.
Ok, I live in the UK and I have to say I find Queer eye for the straight guy UK deeply embarassing! The guy who does the clothes is a fool - Carson is camp in a strong, dignified way whereas that guy is a complete mess. I don't think I've seen that episode you guys have seen but I've seen bits of a few and they are all so amateurish! They don't take them to nice food shops-they take them to supermarkets!!!!!!!They also seem to be able to pick the most lifeless straight guys ever.
Ok-well that was a rant and a half! But seriously, be proud of your guys and please beat off this nasty British scum!haha! G.
Greetings and welcome to the forum, hon! We have several members of the UK viewing audience that pop in here regularly! ...A Brit stationed in Germany who posts over at Carson's site had me laughing. They call our guys the "Fab 5" and your guys the "Drab 5"!!!
I'll get to doing one of my heavy-multi-posting-reviews of the show (perhaps over the weekend while I'm stuck in Abilene) and then you'll hopefully be able to tell if you've seen this episode.
I DO hope you come chat with us here as often as you like!
Peace and grace to y'all! --De
Thanks for the welcome! Im sure gonna be on here often! I got kinda angry in that last post didn't I?!HAHA! Well, it had been a long day! I agree that Brit programmes are overall brilliant in quality but i think its just two different types of comedy Americans and Brits are best at. You could never do a UK will and grace or friends yet i can't ever see the US version of The Office ever bein as gud as the UK version.Ahh well, we got the first of the US queer eye new series last night-i was very happy!
