What other design of hers did last night's dress resemble?

I'm replying here because I don't want to go back to look up the original post.

But, ITA with you... So far Laura has designed:

a fabulousl coat
A scoop necked, no back evening gown
A very tailored jacket and pencil skirt
A great hip short jacket
A retro top and pant ensemble
A v-neck short high waist dress (with a joke on the ass no less!)

Pretty versitile, I think!
Aprily
you're welcome !!! =) maybe someday we can all buy some of Alison's clothes

Its called passion. People, myself included, get so emotionally involved in these shows and sometimes ya just gotta express yourself.

brillke

I know, I'm very emotionally involved also. (Can't you tell?) But, once the decision has been made, I accept it and don't rail at it angrily. As another poster mentioned, none of these candidates so far would be in the final three anyway, so does the order in which they are auf'd really matter?

The only time I'm ever going to cry "he wuz robbed" is if Michael doesn't make the final 3. Then, you'll be seeing me change my tune really fast and start beating my chest, pulling out my hair, and wailing loudly.

If I'm such an embarrassment and you don't care about what I write then why bother using the energy to type? How about putting that extra energy to proof read before you send. Usually if someone is annoying to me and I don't have a reason to converse with them I ignore them like I'm about to show you.

How to respond to this? Let me count the ways.

1. I'm probably old enough to be your grandmother. Thanks for the compliment that I sound so young. I do think I'm a cool mom and a with-it broad.

2. You've worked at one of the top fashion houses in New York with haute couture? Gosh. Let's parse this little brag. Exactly how long were you there? In what capacity? Any secretary or receptionist at any fashion house in NYC could make the same claim.

4. And what is with this "I've been in and indulged in the fashion industry" crap? How, exactly, were you "in" the industry. You haven't established your bona fides at all. And as for "indulging" in the industry, what, that means you buy some fancy clothes? Or, you finger them lovingly as they go out to the rich clientele and mutter "there, but for the bucks and social status, go I"?

5. As to your dismissive reference to the participants here as "you wholesale bargain basement shoppers," yeah, a lot of us go for well-made, fashionable clothes at the most attractive price we can find, from sample sales in NYC to various creative ways to look good without breaking the bank. You might try the same, and save those dollars for some apparently needed therapy for your patronizing hostility toward others.

I am disgusted. Why is Vincent still around??? He has yet to make an outfit that is even half way decent. Alright, Alison's dress wasn't great, but she didn't deserve to go. Vincent's model couldn't walk!!! The only reason he is being kept around is because he is a wacky character, it is not based on any amount of talent. Speaking of a lack of talent, why does Jeffrey think he can design? I am all about Uli, Laura and Michael. If there is any justice in the world these are the three designers that should be in the final runway show.

Why do people feel the need to attack Laura's mothering abilities? Why are women supposed to be sweet and silent? A woman can be both strong and gutsy at work and a great mom.

Wake up. The 50's are so over. Harriet's not with us anymore. Neither is Donna Reed or Carol Brady.

Well, I was WAY off the mark with my picks this week. I picked Allison to win and Angela to go (then again, I have been picking Angela for a few weeks now!). I agree that Allison should not have gone. I actually thought Kayne's wasn't too terrible. I think it would have gone over better if the hair and makeup weren't so out there (I mean, come on, two different STRANGE eyes??)
As for Laura's outburst, I think she was way over the line. The timing was lousy and, while with editing we don't what came before, I'm not sure why she seemed to be blaming Vincent for Allison getting the boot. It wasn't HIS decision for him to stay, any more than it was her decision for her to stay. And, quite frankly, I'm getting tired and bored to tears of her style. Everything is SO simple and it all looks the same as things that have come before. Where is the innovation and where is the creativity, shoot, where is the imagination? I think it says something that all her designs are finished ahead of time, hours in this case. If Allison staying was so important to her, why didn't she help her out with all that free time she had (per Tim's Take)? Anyway, she was out of line attacking Vincent and it's not the first time. She has jumped in on things that had nothing to do with her before (Jeff and Angela) And her comment to Kayne about questioning his choices was WAY out of line! I don't think he asked her opinion and I LOVED his answer. It was dead on and I love that he addressed the issue of being attcked on camera.
As for the win, I totally agree with Michael's win. Jeff's dress moved because it was over muslin (Chloe's floral dress, remember? Tack stuff on muslin and it will move. apparently-hmm, maybe someone needs to tell Vincent-LOL). My issue with Jeff was the hairstyle. I thought that looked horrible! Even Minnie Mouse was better, sort of. I don't know-that was pretty bad. By the way, what happened to the green paper Allison had. She was gong to mix it in with the gold. I think that would have made a huge difference!
you know, Tim even said that he thought she was going to win! Shows what goes on, doesn't it?

Sorry this was so long. Have a great day all!

I'll tell ya, I know who I'd want on my side in a fight (verbal, designer or physical) and it's not Jeffery! Laura kicks ass when necessary.

Thats cool. It's nice that someone values what everyone has to say. I was on for a bit last night but didn't see many familiar faces so I went to bed and then read thru this morning...I wish the producers valued us enough to skim thru it. They set the board up hopefully they listen...a bit

I think that Heidi said "every day woman" - maybe that means someone that people would see everyday - like the new Today host - Meredith Viera? I hope it's someone like Emme (someone with an average woman's shape. However, they designs would still be shown by the same reed-thin models.

Perhaps something to do with Martha Stewart's Every Day whatever it is line? Perhaps designing some ordinary office attire, with Martha as the guest judge?

That was my first thought too, Martha Stewart.

I like the idea that it's their moms, but also maybe wives, sisters, girlfriends, grandmothers, etc. That would be something they could really throw themselves into. Even if it's not I think it's a good idea for a future challenge
carolinachick
You know, I have liked Robert from the beginning, but I am not so crazy about his cattiness. If he had listened to Vincent (believe it or not), he might not have done so poorly on the Macy's challenge. But, noo, he had to be smart alecky about it. Seems like Vincent's opinion wasn't so wrong in that case. But for him to want to sit around and trash the other designers, especially Laura(of whom I am no fan), I thought was tacky and catty. Kayne totally won my respect by making nice comments about Laura's dress, even though he obviously doesn't like her. He also seems to be the type that doesn't really talk behind people's backs. I got the feeling that everything he said to Robert, he would have said to Laura (he did sort of later) I thought he was going on the "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" principle. It was Robert totally attacking her. Kayne just seems like good people, even if he is a little wacky. I absolutely love Michael and his personality. He seems like such a real person and to not play the politics. These are my two favs (especially now with Allison gone) You go guys! Keep it real and keep it courteous and civil!
dlv19
ugh, can't believe that Alison was let go while Angela and Vincent remail, were the judges high or something?

and michael is just getting wins because he's ethnic. there i said it.

you're an idiot.

you know you were all thinking it. okay maybe not just because he's ethnic. that was a joke. but you have to admit that his outfit tonight wasn't really the best one out there. i think tattoo neck guy's clothes were 100 times better.

I think the judges liked it best because it was elegant and obviously made from trash. He made trash look pretty. Jeffrey's outfit, while it looked pretty, wasn't obviously made from trash. Anyone could take some paper or one of those peanut bags and paint it to make it look like it was cloth or totally change the look of the materials. I think using paint to disguise the 'trash' is what made his outfit less than Michael's in the judges eyes.

I wish Vincent had gone instead of Allison but the judges have a much better sense of who should win since we only see a small edited version of what went down. They could have spent 2 hours on the runway discussing the outfits and who should win and why. For all we know, Allison might have just been mediocre in the judges eyes all this time and they didn't see what we saw.

As for Heidi "fat" comments. I think she thought the design made the model look fat not that she was fat or that being fat was a crime. Everyone is running off and assuming that Heidi doesn't like anyone over a size 2. I think people are jumping to conclusions based on one comment. Now, the editing of the episode didn't have to include the conversation between Tim and Allison about the size of the model. That just sets the whole situation up for drama. Again, they weren't saying she was fat, just that she is bigger than the other models. I mean the girl is a model so she obviously is within the parameters of what is acceptable.
gina2
I don't understand why when I go to myspace.com i can't find allison kelly? any ideas anyone?

I agree with you Carolina Jeffs dress was nice to look at. However, Michael met the challenge in my opinion much better. I notice people on this site are blinded by personal likes rather than what the judges are asking of the designers.

Actually all of Heidi's clothes are supposedly made by Kara Saun (sp?) from the first season.

And yes Allison was ripped off. After the comment that Kayne had made better, she should have been given the same consideration. Mr. Insane is there for TV value. It sucks.

After reading the comments about how crazy Heidi looks, I hope everyone realizes that she's pregnant again so these are maternity clothes. NOT that there's any excuse to wear ugly maternity clothes. Which I think Heidi's are, God bless her.

Kara Suan makes some of the clothes but not sure if its the entire wardrobe. BTW, Heidi is not pregnant during the taping of season 3 so they are in fact maternity clothes.
