Interestingly enough, I just read an interview with Alison, and apparently, her model really is closer to zaftig than I thought. I figured she might be a 2 or 4 in a world of 0 and 00 beanstalks, but Alison claims her model is an 8 or 10 and shouldn't even be a runway model.

And let's face it, today's 8 is the 12 or 14 of a few decades ago. Being a 10 almost definitely qualifies her for "plus" size.

Personally, in the last 30 years, I have maintained the same body size, but in 1980, I was an 8; in the '90s, I was a 6; and now I'm a 4 or even a 2, depending on the manufacturer.

I read that also in the interview that the model is at least an 8 or 10 and that is large for a runway model. It is not large for a normal, everyday, non runway model person though.

And I kind of thought that zaftig was maybe german not jewish lol. Either way it sounds like the name of one of those blimps from Germany in the 40s to me.

The German blimps were Zeppelins....now, if they ever describe a design as making a model look like a zeppelin, the designer really is in trouble

Or, Michael Kors could say a design that he hates looks like a zeppelin just exploded....

Excuse me what are you talking about? When I left yesterday it was 5:30 pm I never returned back until today darling. I doubt very seriously you've been anywhere remotely close to the Essex House. Why not try reading before sending a message? I'm not entertaining the low life’s that frequent this board today. My friends and I had a good laugh last night about the people that frequent sites like this you people are just so funny. I would love to discuss the happenings of PR today not about my social status because I have nothing to prove to any of the peons on this board.

I was surprised at your point by point take apart of Gabe, I did not get she was saying we should all worry about Darfur etc or acting at all like the crazy Peta person. She was saying there has been post after post literally screaming about lets all write letters and we need to boycott the show and more. She was just saying hey it's TV. Lighten up. Save all that other for real stuff. The Essex House/LegendaryFace was to the person who posted a rude reply comparing HERr to that person when she had said nothing like that. Private posts...you may not do it but I have gotten nasty emails from people here in my email. I get what she meant about people writing to her. And the money on clothes thing. Some poster wrote a nasty note about she must be a snot for spending that much money when that was NOT what she meant at all. She was just replying someone elses post that money on clothes adds up and people do spend a fair amount. The person in question was ranting about Angela's outfit with the $129 jacket at Macy's and who would ever spend that much. Uh, duh, lots of people.

The Mom thng. You are WAY off base. Yes we do speculate about the next challenge. I think she was simply commenting that she did not think next week would be a design for your Mom type challenge because MAYBE THEY DO NOT ALL HAVE MOMS TO DESIGN FOR. Or I will go one step further. Maybe like mine perhaps they have advanced MS and are totally handicapped at this point and Gabe is right. She would not be parading down a runway. I think she meant the producers would be sensitive enough to not have people designing for their own mom since perhaps they are not all in the position to do so! I just went to a friends Moms funeral. Guess they won't be making them an outfit. Or perhaps my friend Andrew's Mom struggling with gastic bypass and weighing what she does now, I know would never do something like that. And he would not ask her to.

Many times posts are in reply to other ones. If you do not know which one chill a bit and do not see as a criticism of YOU. The Heidi note is to the post before that from a newbie saying why is HEIDI A JUDGE isn't she just some model and why does she talk so funny does she have a speech problem. Gee you people all need a chill pill and do not write me about that. If it is not you then LET IT GO. Sometimes you guys suck all the fun out of goofy TV,

The judges decision got me also. I like you am hooked so I will continue watching even though I feel disappointed in the show after last week. I was also disappointed when Malan got eliminated so quickly. I didn't' really like his dress but felt he was capable of producing interesting fashion. Vincent I find boring and the fact that he is still here is mind boggling. Remember on the episode with the dogs the judges said Allison had a vision while Vincent made a very very forgettable outfit. It doesn't compute and I too suspect producer interference. The thing I love about this show is seeing what these talented designers can come up with. This is what make the show interesting to me. The more talented the designer the more interesting the show. Reality show drama....that's a dime a dozen now days.

[My reply that went to brille, I apologize if I spelled your name wrong, but that post was for FF1 and not intended for you. My mistake.

Judges- Why don't they change every episode -??? I mean them ALL -
Suggestion -Heidi = Host, not judge (let's laugh at her speach and costume)
Tim = A real mentor - instead of a Shopping nanny (we've got a chuckle here)
And Judges that change every episode - All judges!
-

Since Heidi is the producer, she can be anything she wants around there. I find her accent charming, and she certainly knows clothes since that is her profession.

The judges: we missed Michael Kors when he was gone. Sometimes the judges are not consistent in their assessment, and if they changed the judges every time we would be upset. We like knowing the judges. When they change the 4th judge, as they do every time, we often forget who they are, or we question their ability, or they are just bad TV. We all have our favorite judges as well as our favorite designers.

Tim is really not supposed to give advice to the designers. I think he comes in more in the interest of the timeline than anything else. In his latest podcast he says that he could not resist telling Kayne to rip the original skirt off the dress, but he really should not have been doing that. Normally I believe his job is to make sure that they finish the designs in time.

In an aside, Tim really rips Vincent in his latest podcast, leaving me to believe he feels safe to do so because Vincent goes next episode.
gillisgirl
I feel your pain. I am just as outraged. Not only does Vincent not have an ounce of talent but he is creepy. How many times did he say "it turns me on" or "it gets me off" I felt so dirty after watching that episode I had to take a shower.

I had read in a post earlier that Alison had put down Down Syndrome people in an interview and wanted to see it for myself, I have since heard it. it was on her exit interview and she said that 'no offense to down syndrome people, she has a down syndrome cousin and he is cool" jeffrey and her called each other retarded and I think that is where that person(that posted earlier) got the wrong impression. I think Alison is great and I can't wait to see her line in September.

I agree with you that everyone needs to understand that's it ok to go a little crazy about the show. I have three kids, a husband, and two jobs and all the reality I can handle. I love to sit back and watch Project Runway and get away even if its just for an hour. I have also gone crazy over the judging on the show because it makes no sense at all sometimes. Last season it was Santino and the first season it was you know who : How hard did we all scream about that. Now after two seasons under my belt I have come to expect the unexplained to happen and I just don't let it get to me. (sorry for the spelling I holding my one year old granddaughter in my arms and she loves to help me type.)
My point is that these boards are great way to vent our feelings and I know what you r trying to say.

hi fit2, heidi is qualified as she makes her living wearing clothes as a model, she is also producer and the show was her idea in the first place, lol. I hope she can keep the show as exciting as it has been in season 1 and 2, and I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I do.
gina2
oh and her speech? she's from Germany so lets not make fun of her speech, it is called an accent.

I find this very interesting. I had a question on the last thread that was answered by a very thoughtful poster. I do believe that Vincent's remark is a generational thing. I am of Vincent's generation and the remarks sailed right over my head as harmless. However, I reacted very very strongly to Michael's language. I do believe that what is heard every day just loses it's ability to shock.
Witch
Yep, you are right on the money here... First they say "oh be innovative, be creative" and later they pick up booooring projects... the outfits that look like NORMAL clothes, made of NORMAL fabrics for NORMAL people... (Hello Laura!!!, Hello Michael!!) Don't get me wrong - these outfits were well constructed, well-made, but they were CONSERVATIVE, NORMAL, CLEAN-CUT, fabric-looking pieces... They were perfect charity-dinner outfits for a rich, bored wife of a bussinessman...
Instead of being somewhere between... let's say "creative" and "innovative", they were somewhere between "Desperate Housewives" and "Dynasty". Congratulations...
damselfly
I will say the same thing to you that I posted to her...It's in the tone. You may have gotten all that from the post...I got something different. If you get a nasty private post from someone the correct thing to do it take it up with them not post something with such negative person tone for everyone to read through. I think I did say she had some good points and I wasn't pushing anything about the mom idea. It was a thought some people had about the next challenge, Gabe made it a personal "what-there-relationship-with-their-parents-do-they-have-parents-etc" thing. I'm sorry to hear about your mom's situation. I'm sure it a rough deal. I don't think anyone was neglecting the designers personal situation with their moms or anything. I think I'm very clear about leaving the designers personal stuff out of posts. Actually if you read back over the many pages on the board you will see that on more than one occassion I responded to people about their rude comments about Laura's children.
So we can make this personal or we can keep it light. I don't think there was anything heavy about my response to Gabe. She put that post out there for all to read...

I so agree with your assessment and think the judges should all be forced to wear Vincent's outfit for letting him go through and not giving Alison a pass. The producers must have had some input and thought Vincent provided more drama. It's so unfair. The only saving grace is that now Alison can quickly launch her own line and we can all start wearing her designs. You go girl!

Unfair yes, but this is television, where ratings are the most important.

For those, like me, who only caught "Winstons up your nose" from Vincent on viewing of the episode. Where are the subtitles when we need them?

Winston-Salem--cigarettes(what I first thought hearing him)
Harry Winstons--okay, yeah, that makes sense. Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend. Bitter, Vincent, Bitter. I can see your point since Laura is rich and in a lot of eyes could probably start up her own business with $100,000 in a minute. Why does she need this show in some viewers' eyes. This attitude would make sense if you weren't always in the bottom three.

Winston Cup--Fill me in here--is it a trophy or award for getting the most points in a series of NASCAR races?

I think the producers may have a voice if the judges are undecided about who is "out" each week. Heidi is a producer as well as judge, so it may be as simple as that.

These judges give hours each week to judging and maybe one or two percent makes it to the show for what we see.

Also, unlike Season One, actually being this week's Out designer, or kicked off, like Keith, everyone knows that just being on the show and getting exposure will open a lot of doors for any designer. Keith certainly landed on his feet(his cheating isn't viewed as such in the real world, naturally), and Malan and Allison will see their creations at Fashion Week.

As for the winners of PR, $100,000 isn't enough to really start their own line, if they want to do it big-time in New York or LA. $1,000,000 would be more like it.

There has been the same outrage on the boards when Wendy kept scraping by in Season 1 and Santino in Season 2. So let us all sing the Santino Season2 Hit :"Lighten Up! It's Just Fashion."

Is everyone sure that Keith is this season's real villian? After all there was a clip very early on in the first two shows where someone(Jeffrey?)interviews that "Sabotage happens"

I think Angela is next to go, now that things are starting to get serious.

Also get or flip through the latest issue of Vogue. There is a three page spread of Fall Michael Kors fashions. Think he has given up the title of "King of Amercan Jet-Set Fashion"(moi was wondering why Heidi wasn't using this for his last two appearances) for "King of American Small Private Plane Fashion because Jet-Set Fashion is not PC"

Also see Vogue for the most fashions that look yummy but only look good on size 0 models. Especially very wide legged pants. Not good for anyone less that 6' and lives in an area where you do get real ice and snow in fall and winter. Also many page spread on the upcoming "Marie Antoinette" film, book excerpt on the fashions of said queen and Kirsten Dunst in some wickely impractical MA inspired fashions made just for Vogue. Wonderful fantasy, but makes PR entries look relatively sane by comparison.
gina2
I beleive that in an earlier show heidi did call Tim a mentor to the designers, to help them out with ideas on finishing and what "works",and what doesn't, which would make sense since he teaches at parsons.

I can’t believe people have never heard of Harry Winston jewelry.
gina2
the only reason i've heard of it is because I have watched a couple of awards shows in my day, certainly not from buying them! lol

That wasn't directed to you Gina.

Gina every woman needs a little Harry Winston in her life, we need to find you a rich husband.

What becomes a legend most?

Living off a rich husband?

I have a husband who cooks and cleans, the jewelry can wait. alot of women feel that a man who helps out around the house are worth their weight in gold(and I am one of them) =o) although before I got married I was buying myself jewelry lol gotta admit i do love it
carolinachick
I've been thinking about the MK comment about Kayne as well. I think he was referring to the fact that, ugly or not, the dress was well constructed. Not to mention the fact that I think both he and the guest judge (her name escapes me right now, except her last name was "Zoe") were very impressed that he put it together in literally no time. I think Nina's comment was more surprise that he made the skirt in minutes. I mean, that takes some talent. If you look at the structure of the "garment", it looks pretty solid, especially in light of how long it took him! I think Alison's would have been better had she left off the origami bustier. I also still think she should have kept the green in there. I read her EW interview and agree with whoever posted that she isn't as sweet as she seemed on TV. I mean some of her comments were as sour grapes as Jeffrey's comments whenever he loses. I also didn't like the comments about the models-one had scholeosis, one had a shoulder that was 3 inches different than the other, Alexander shouldn't be a runway model because she is a 8 or 10. She thinks that PR does that on purpose and only 3 of the models are worth anything, anyway. I don't know about that. Her comments were really catty. And, she actually thought she was going to win! Well, at least we know she didn't INTEND Alexandra to look like Minnie Mouse. But, I would have let the judges know that the huge Minnie Mouse hair bow wasn't what I had intended. I would have said, "Hey, it was supposed to be TINY. Talk to the stylists you hired" That said, she probably should have just taken the whole hair bow thing off.
BTW, did anyone else think Kayne's dress made his model look large as well? I loved the comment about it looking like TInkerbell gone crazy! Too true!
Anyway, after reading that interview, I have less respect for Allison and am not as upset that she is gone. I still like Michael, Kayne and Robert (sort of) Uli and Laura need to mix it up more (good job, Uli-no halters this week!) And Vincent just need to go (sorry to my 10 yr old-he loves Vincent, but more because he's "kooky"). I do agree with Allison that Laura is a great seamstress. I just don't see where she DESIGNS anything! I can get patterns or things off the rack just like what she cranks out.
Any good speculation on next week? I don't think it's Martha Stewart, but someone on another board made a good point that she is affiliated with Macy's and NBC now. So, who knows!
See ya!
Jaelvis
Well said, Gabe. It is just a TV show afterall and no one was harmed in the making of the show. If anything, Allison probably has gotten more attention for being kicked off.
legendaryface
I don't think it's anything wrong with a lady who makes business decisions when it comes to whom she spends her life with. I just happen to prefer men that can give me the "Four Cs." on my finger and around my neck.
dogabone
Uli's dress may not have had a halter top, but it was still, like all her other creations, an Empire waist dress, and I wonder whether she is able to make a natural waist or even a dipped-waist dress. I also thought her dress looked puffy and balloon-like, although it was very well made.

This is not so different from Santino's remark about Chloe that he is still being raked over the coals for.

I think Uli's skirt was just beautiful. And very innovative. I wish she had gotten some mention from the judges.

hmmmmmmmm Meredith Viera and Martha Stewart don't come to mind when I think of an "every woman". "every woman" doesn't have their own tv shows, books etc. I think it would be awesome if it were their mothers(or maybe sisters)?

Wow, well it's obvious to me that some people are more sensitive than others and thats what all the weight and money etc post are about but lets be honest here, thats what these boards are for people, an outlet. You, like everyone else, obviously come here to read and share opinions and ideas.
I don't know about the personal posts you've been recieving. I woke up this morning and read the big one I'm responding to.
Having been a part of several dicussions over the past couple of days I think that everyone knows Hiedi's importance and role in the show, THAT is why they want her to be a touch more sensitive. She has a varying audience, and as someone who has a personal investment in the show she needs to be careful.
As for what people spend on clothing, I will repeat what I said in prior post. It's not what you spend it's how you use it. If it was all about what you spend designers like Issac Mizrahi or Keanan Duffty wouldn't be wasting there time with Target. You are right about what you spend on clothing adding up...I think what matters is what you get for that money. If it's a really great suit then great, or if it's 6 amazing tops for the same amount. That's the whole money thing I think it's all relevant to who you are...I think that's what you're trying to say...maybe...
As far as the Essex House post...that person dug their own hole with prior posts. NOBODY was responding to them out of jealousy or envy or even thinking that they were some better off. All the nasty remarks about them had to do with tone...tone being the same reason I felt compelled to respond to you.
Laura is great, be she a savy business person or a good mom...there have been many defending her on this board. Me being one of them.
And as far as speculation about next week, why don't YOU not assume that they don't have moms or loved ones in their lives that want to participate in something that is important to them. It may not be next weeks challenge but thats the fun on this board, we like to do detective work and try to figure it out...its called fun.

Well said Damselfly. One thing I found odd in her post was the message she is getting bombarded with. The private message feature doesnt work. I joined the boards 2 years ago, didnt work then. They didnt work months ago when TC was on air. They done work now. Only way a person could be getting bombarded is if they posted their email address for all to see.

I doubt very seriously that PR would put him in the final three in fashion week. I can’t imagine any of those hideous designs being featured in New York.
damselfly
It kind of reminded me of some of Santinos things from the start of last year. He would do braided straps and things. It was clever because it gave structure and strength to something that was weak and harder to work with. I was very surprised by the lack of structure in the clothing. There was a display at the MET I believe of gown and historical pieces made completely from paper. Now I'm not saying that they had the time to do anything like that but I was disappointed by the lack of maybe a starched collar or an interesting belt that wasn't painted on...
damselfly
Ohhh good to know...then I'm rally glad I said something...

I can't imagine it's Martha Stewart just because of how she dresses --- very plain, don't you think?? I can only picture her in plain white shirts or very pale cashmere sweaters....not exactly fashion forward. What the heck would the designers do for her?

I don't think it's their mothers either...what if someone doesn't have a mom, estranged from their mom, or has a mother who is incapacitated in some way?

But perhaps it's a tv personality that plays a mom? Like Jami Gertz from Still Standing...

By the way, who is Merideth Viera?

I personally like Heidi. She cracks me up. As for the judges, dont ever get rid of Michael and Nina. Love them. Tim is the best part of the show. Only thing they need to change about Tim and his role on the show is to give him more airtime.

I think Jeffrey should have won, it was creative and well made. Michael's was very good and I really like Michael but I felt like the bodice was so close to what Daniel Vosovic did in the garden challenge that it wasn't really that innovative. I realize it's difficult to be completely creative but that weaving on the waist just seemed really close, especially considering both challenges used non-traditional materials.

I don't understand why Vincent isn't sent home, except to add drama but I don't even find his character interesting. IMO, all of them are pretty boring to me. I guess I just keep hoping for another Santino or Nick - they had tons of personality. Kayne is probably my favorite.

I don't even get excited about Wednesday night anymore, I'm ready for next season to start.
