thanks MissOtis, I don't think legendary is trying to put me down for shopping there lol. I like the clothes there and feel comfortable there. I even work there, lol. No shame for me. if we are all honest, we have all shopped at Wal-Mart, they have great prices and even if you are rich, why pay more than you have to? I live in a tourist town now and alot of rich people come in to the Wal-Mart although I do admit they bring their attitudes with them. =o)

I think the worst dress was Laura's - its always the same- such as the clothes in her back with different colors. Too boring!

Who I thought should be taken out was Laura. And Laura, enough of the slit to the tummy dress- its not flattering to you,I can see half of your small boobs plus some wrinkled tummy. I hope she can wear some jeans and loosened up a bit! Her clothes looks similar. She doesn't have a creative design bone in her

Sorry, but I have to disagree. Laura has a STYLE -- that's why her clothes have a similiar feel to them. Go look at any designer and they all have a certain style and feel to them. Tommy Hilfiger's stuff all looks like Tommy Hilfiger. Ralph Lauren looks like Ralph Lauren. D&G looks like D&G. Chanel looks like Chanel. ETC!!

She has designed a fur trimmed coat, beautiful nude colored-sequined gown, suit jacket with skirt, pants and shirt, and dress --- all are different but have her style about them. Even Nina remarked that she could tell when an outfit was 'a Laura' b/c she brings a certain graceful style to whatever she designs.
legendaryface
And I thank you.
gina2
I agree gandm her stuff is definitly her style, elegant and refined. Luckily though no cleavage in the stuff she designs. well except for the one this week, I'm just watching it again and I still think jeffrey got robbed this week.

"I know Gabe has ruffled some feathers, but she has some very good points and I'm going to concentrate on analyzing them (in several posts, so it doesn't get too long, here).

First up, this economic sensitivity issue. Gabe makes an excellent point. This show has really pushed our buttons this season about the haves and the have-nots because of the inclusion of a very wealthy contestant.

Further, the personal comments from many of us on this board disclose that most of us just don't have fancy stores near them nor a huge budget to indulge in the really good stuff very often or even at all. Many of us are penny-pinchers, sale hawks, and just trying to keep the budget from cracking. I personally struggle to make sure that the electricity isn't shut off and that I have oil in my tank in the winter so that I won't freeze to death. So, when we see Laura's wealth displayed on TV, it highlights our own situations a bit. Not that we begrudge her -- it is what it is. Great for her that her circumstances are very fortunate, and leave it at that.

And Gabe is right - clothing really does add up. I find myself in the position of having to completely re-outfit my son, who lost almost 100 pounds this past year, for going off to college. My goal is two weeks' worth of clothing and underwear, since I despair that he'll actually be able to do laundry every week when the exams and papers really hit. I have to get him new everyting - underwear, jeans, t-shirts, shirts, hoodies, warm weather and heavy winter jackets, etc. plus the annual gym shoes and waffle-stomper boots. GADS, it really does add up. I'm astounded. So THAT's where all my pennies are going. When you buy it a little here and a little there, you just don't see the impact as clearly. Plus, prices of some of this stuff has reallly skyrocketed. Two years ago, when I bought him underwear, it was 3 skivvies per $12/back. Now, these boxer briefs are (gulp) $18.50 per pair, and I consider myself very lucky if I can scoop them up at the discount store for $7.50 per pair. And, I'd like to send him off with just one nice outfit for good occasions - a navy blazer, nice white shirt, good slacks, and "church shoes." But, it's just not in the cards. Way too expensive. He probably doesn't need it, but my pride is hurt that I can't do that for him. Oh, yes, boys and girls, gasoline isn't the only thing that has quadrupled in cost recently.

So Gabe's comment that we all spend a lot more on clothes than we would think does not paint her as an insensitive jerk. She made a very real and honest observation that we may well be spending a LOT more than we think on clothes. Please let's read posts carefully before slamming the other guy, ok?

Also, let's please try not to get our feathers ruffled over this economic issue. I do enjoy commenting on where we shop, etc. but I get distressed to see others reading too much into these discussions. Most of us are adult enough to just enjoy the fashions on the show while knowing that we will never be able to afford them.

We are not trying to one-up each other here and are just trying to have a good and interesting dialog. Yes, having somebody like LegendaryFace just rudely and deliberately rub our noses in it is galling, but she is a minority of one on this board in that department. We can ignore her or gang up on her and get her dumped from the board if she becomes too obnoxious for us to stomach. But, look it up. She is a twit. The quintessential twit. Don't encourage her and maybe she and her hot air will just blow away to somewhere else."

FF1, I applaud you for trying to [censored] a fight in the bud. Im not trying to pick one I assure you. You and I have disagreed in the past and NEVER insulted each other in the process. We have the ability to disagree yet see the others point. We have never told the other to get a life, save starving children in Africa, told the other to pick up a book,etc... No, we would never stoop that low.

Tone in a post can be misunderstood sure but when the same insults are being flung then there is no misunderstanding. To imply you are somehow more educated, have more money, have class to spare,etc... is insulting.

To assume you know me or anyone else is silly. You only know what we tell you. Am I really in So.Il.? Am I really female? Im as honest as the day is long but nobody knows for sure. We go with our gut.

If Gabe had said anything in the tone you used I might not have gotten so upset. She chose a tone that was condescending beyond belief. If I had misunderstood Gabe I would have owned it and apologized. I did not misunderstand her tone.

So what if people get upset and say they are going to boycott a show? Do they mean it? Will it have any effect? I dont know. They were upset over a show and posted. Life moved on. Allison is off the show. If those post upset you, scroll past. Dont point a finger and call them silly and tell them to get a life. As someone put it so well, the show and our time on these boards is our way to escape reality for just a bit everyday. We are surrounded by all sorts of horrors daily and why begrudge our little vacations from them?

I do not judge anyone for what they do or do not have, how much education they do or do not have,by where they live,or anything else. I do judge those who consider themselves better then others. We are all equal in my book. I dont care what race, religion, serxual orintation, income level, educational level, etc... you are you are my equal. Disagree with me,thats fine.

I dont mean to get al preachy on yall. Its just we do in fact whatch a silly show and post on a silly board, both the have and have nots. To have a few try to belittle others for doing the exact same damn thing they themselves are doing just annoys me.

Ok, said my piece. Pass me some damn PR punch and a cheeseburger. Lol, where is my dern train? we need another vacation away from reality.

I can't believe all these talentless bitchy morons are still on the show. When they got rid of Malan, I was shocked. When they got rid of Alison, I was appalled. How in the world are morons like Vincent, Robert and Kayne still on the show? Do the producers think the viewers like seeing gays acting gay? And kicking Keith off for having some books he didn't even try to hide? Why was it when it seemed like he would win that the other contestants went and cried to the producers? If Uli doesn't win, this season will be a sham.

I love that Uli isn't afraid of color or pattern. But I also find her designs a little too quiet or safe. I don't see the fashionable WOW there either.

They're both nice and pretty and wearable. Of the two, I'm starting to favor Uli. Laura's "classic" is starting to seem to boring and repetitive to me. And would it be possible for her to wear a dress that isn't cut down to her navel?

I liked Uli's last two.. her Diana Ross dress was beautiful ("loved the buttons") and I thought she should have been in the best three this week instead of Michael and won

but I just wouldn't want to see her "collection" if she was in the final three.

Now that Allison is gone I was trying to find a replacement for her in my final three and I still can't decide.

No offense and no shame to you for shopping there (we all shop where we are most comfortable and can afford) but I must say, I have never purchased clothing from Walmart. In fact, I haven't been in a Walmart in years. I just detest going to stores like that!! When I need tp, paper towels, and laundry detergent, I head to Costco and stock up so I don't have to go very often - maybe 2 or 3 times a year. BTW, if there's a Costco near you, that's where you should apply. They pay their employees very well and, from what I have read, treat their employees very well --- much better than old Sam Walton (god rest his soul) and his horrid marts.

I've actually only been to Wal-Mart once. I don't live anywhere near one, but a poster on the CTV board was talking about something that sounded (and was) perfect for my nephew's son's birthday. It was a rocket that shoots way, way, way up in the air and, at it's peak, takes a photo. It was a huge hit.

Frankly I could care less what you or any other of these people think about me. If you think I live in squalor or in some god forsaken neighborhood so be it, it doesn't really matter to me. I have the comfort knowing that people like you will never have the joy of experiencing my life. Now please reframe from having LegeadaryFace in any future posts.

Wow. Let's parse this load of codswallop.

1. "Frankly I could care less what you or any other of these people think about me." Since you are so big with the fake dearies, sweeites, etc., that should be "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."

2. "If you think I live in squalor or in some god forsaken neighborhood so be it, it doesn't really matter to me." True, our personal circumstances don't matter to you. All that matters to you is that you persist in provoking people until they get their dander up, whether that dander falls on a dirt floor or an Aubusson carpet. You take joy in making other people feel pain. Makes me think of a t-shirt that my son just added to his college wardrobe: "Jesus says: Don't be a [expletive deleted]!"

3. "I have the comfort knowing that people like you will never have the joy of experiencing my life." BOY, gotta tell ya, not one single person here would WANT the "joy" of experiencing your life. What comes through here is the clear impression that you are a poseur, offensive, insensitive, and boorish. When people start asking you to leave the board, don't you get the message about how you come across?

4. In my experience, those who act that way are in deep pain inside. My best friend is a psychatrist who specializes in, among other things, treating executives who are absolute bastards (b-a-s-t-a-r-d-s, just in case that word gets bleeped out) to their staffs, and tells me that those individuals abuse others because they are full of crippling pain and loneliness inside and can't face it. This board has held out the hand of welcome to you, but you've bitten it off repeatedly. These are very nice people and we hold it out to you once again, if you care to take it. And, you really should see a good therapist. But, if you continue to act the way you have been, you'll piss away the ocean of good will here for good. And that WILL be truly sad.
gina2

Just a thought...but some shallow females react strongly when they perceive another female can give them a run for their money. Maybe Heidi felt that Allison being attractive (similar to herself) and then also extremely talented was too much to bear so she had to rid herself of her. I read Andy's blog and it seemed he held Allison in high regard also (hmmm???). From what he said she will be showing at fashion week on her own. Project Runway gave her some exposure; I am sure she will always come out on top. I hope she reads the boards to know how all of us have her back.

I love Michael and want him to go far in this competition. When I saw his dress I said uh oh...There must have been some fabulous qualities that were more apparent in person.

As far as the comments about Laura, I think she is a strong woman with a strong sense of self and confident in her design esthetic which historically translates to %itch. I hope we are not confusing standing up for ones principles as %itchiness.

I would have voted Vincent off...it is sadly pretty clear that the judges are deliberatly affecting the outcome. It was more understandable with Santino because although his designs were sometimes out there, it was clear he had a vision he was trying to demonstrate. With Vincent, it seems he is struggling to get something out there...I don't see a defined esthetic; it is all over the place.
gina2
FoodFan, we get that you don't like legendary lol by the way, can you tell me when Top Chef starts again? I notice that you are a fan and thought you might know. I figure it must be soon as they are re-running season one on Bravo. I really liked the first season.

Well said. Even my 10 year old daughter has had an experience where one of her friends misinterpreted the tone of her email and they had a spat that lasted approximately four minutes. No big deal, but I did give her the lecture about the way it sounds in your head isn't always the way it sounds on paper. Legendary, I apologize. I am not, by nature, a catty person and should not have responded in a rude manner to your post. On a lighter note, I would like to report that one of my fourth graders showed me his handwriting paper and I gave him the necessary corrections, sent him back to his seat and without thinking, told him to "make it work". I believe I have an addiction. PRA meetings will be spring up in church basements and community centers all over America. On topic, I will be ever so disappointed if next week's challenge isn't something for a larger woman, It certainly seemed to be alluded to and the sillouette(spelling anyone?) did appear larger. However, they have been known to mislead.lol

Again another great episode. It's definitely a show you can never get bored to watch.

I was very disappointed that allison was auf'd. Not only does she have a great personality, but I thought she was one of the stronger designers. Vincent's "dress" was simply ridiculous and the only innovation that went through his head is "how can I make this dress stiff like a canvas so I can spew trash all over it and call it art". Made me sick because it's so transparent and a bunch of garbage, pardon the pun.

Not to even mention all his previous designs are terrible (although what would Twiggy wear? I think he had the hardest icon to design for. But the Cher outfit was HORRIBLE).

But I understood a long time ago that the judges only see the finished product, not the process. Allison's dress to them was probably unforgivable for some reason (I actually liked it in a sense, it was just unfinished. Certainly was more artistic than vincent's piece of trash). I was also shocked at how they loved Bradley's dress in the dog challenge, it seemed like a badly structured version of Daniel Vosavich's orchid dress from last season.

It's funny to see people get so irate on this board. I think the judges always pick the right "worse" two or three. Usually I agree with their decision of who gets auf'd and occasionally I think they miss the mark. that's the way fashion goes in a purely subjective contest.

I think Michael is definitely the frontrunner at this stage. I love Kaine, but I think he'll flounder ala Nick from last season (as much as I LOVE nick, he never seemed to recapture the brilliance of the barbie dress, probably my favorite PR design in all 3 seasons so far, tho Kaine's Marilyn Monroe knockout is a close second).

Uli and Laura are also strong designers, but may not be as bold as some of the other designers.

I can see Angela skating to the top 3, but she won't win. There always seems to be one person each season that manages to make it for some reason and I think she is the most likely to be that person this season.

and if Vincent makes it to the top 3 I'll puke. His designs are a minor step up from Star's clown clothes.

Finally, Jeffrey should have won. I guess the judges were put off slightly by the depressing design (hair and makeup shouldn't have made the model look like some psychotic doll). Had the hair/makeup made the model look happier and hip, I think the design would have won. But Michael's was innovative and very chic, considering the materials used. Seems the judges really go for beauty and glamour than couture.

Yes, but between posts today, I had an epiphany and now see her as a very needy and lonely person. As my contradictory views were buried at the bottom of long posts, I repeat them here, as I think it is important to concentrate less on our responses and more on her real cry for attention.

Statement #1:

We are not trying to one-up each other here and are just trying to have a good and interesting dialog. Yes, having somebody like LegendaryFace just rudely and deliberately rub our noses in it is galling, but she is a minority of one on this board in that department. We can ignore her or gang up on her and get her dumped from the board if she becomes too obnoxious for us to stomach. But, look it up. She is a twit. The quintessential twit. Don't encourage her and maybe she and her hot air will just blow away to somewhere else.

Statement #2, two hours later, responding directly to LegendaryFace:

In my experience, those who act that way are in deep pain inside. My best friend is a psychiatrist who specializes in, among other things, treating executives who are absolute bastards (b-a-s-t-a-r-d-s, just in case that word gets bleeped out) to their staffs, and tells me that those individuals abuse others because they are full of crippling pain and loneliness inside and can't face it. Great post.

I'm probably going to watch the rest of the shows, but the thrill is definitely gone.

PR has jumped the shark.

"Once we lose faith in the judges, we really stop caring about the entire contest."

Spot on point.

Agreed, Bear! Kara's collection was more exciting
and more cohesive than anything the front three put on the runway. And she had to make a thirteenth outfit as well, but without help from anyone else.

I also believe that if the three finalists hadn't been expressly prohibited from selecting Kara as a helper, Chloe would have selected her rather than Diana.
