Gina I respect the working woman and what she does for her family, I could never see myself doing that but thats just my preference. But PR is about fashion, not slippers and moo moo's.

Thats offensive. I'm now a stay at home mom...I don't even own sweat pants and wouldn't be caught dead in a t-shirt and jeans non-the less a moo-moo! Legend you watch to much bad TV. I wear skirts and dresses almost everyday and my home is impeccable. I also take very good care of myself and have stayed in great shape (I like my body more after kids then before). I particapate in charity events and do volunteer work on a regular basis while being a dedicated mother and loving wife. I'm also educated in the arts and run a catering business from home. We're not all couch potatoes who sit around watching TV eating junk all day while our kids run around unbathed getting into trouble. I'm very involved with my son's school (he has Aspergers Syndrome) and my daughter is just a baby but I take her to the baby Gym every week to encorage her social development. In simple words, "How dare you sterotype all stay at home moms!" Your mom obvisouly failed with you. Even if a mom is not as "busy" as I am they all deserve more credit then they are given.

Am I the only person here who doesn't care for Martha Stewart? lol

I have never been a fan of her shows or all of the home stuff. I am not Harriet Homemaker and don't pretend to like anything about taking care of a home.

I have studied her some though because of her work and success. The woman knows how to run a business and make money. She is fairly ruthless and that is what it takes.

I never really liked her either, but felt they overkilled her crime, making her an example. I just never could understand her making money doing many of the things my mother taught me as I was growing up. Some of the stuff is just so common sense to me I crack up. I know many have determined her the guru of the home but as I said I knew much of that stuff before she hit the scene. From the movies I saw about her, she was ruthless and very driven. I don't know if I could do that. Possibly her jail stint made her become more humble and appreciate what she has instead of just out to make the almighty buck. Now making the buck is not bad, it is how you do it.

Oh I thought her being sent to jail was a crock of c**p but they didn't ask me what I thought. They cleary used her as an example and if anything I think it may have made her more determined than ever, it sure would me.

I sat and watched the night they released her from jail. That is the kind of thing you do when you don't sleep much lol.
gina2
Sorry, I felt Martha got what she deserved. All she had to do was tell the truth and she wouldn't have gone to jail.

My kids all have blonde hair and while the boy never had anyone think he was dumb my two girls did. No one ever took them seriously. It was really difficult for them at times because of preconceived ideas some people had. They both are A personalitites well all three are in the fact they are self motivated. I will never forget when the last one graduated from high school when they announced her grade point at graduation one graduate turned to her and said I never knew you were that smart. She really shocked a few. I have to laugh she went to her high school 10 year reunion and she was one of 5 phd's in her class and was still having to fend off that, "I may be blonde but I am not stupid, stupid."

You gotta be kidding, Pet Fashion Week. Guess their must be some idle people in New York, cause they thought this up.

Pet Fashion Week, I love it. In Dallas and I hope I do not offend anyone, I think they have Diamond Fashion Week.

We sure do have Diamond Fashion week here in Big D. Have you ever been?
My next door neighbor was a jeweler when I was growing up and he took me with him one time. Totally cool!

Thanks for the link. I read the article and am convinced she required the reporter to submit his questions in writing, and then replied in writing. I thought it sounded pretentious. Maybe that was just me. What do you think?

She actually sounded that way on the show, too. She had a highly intellectual and analytical way of expressing herself and an intersting command of concepts. This seems to me to be more of the same.

Gad, when my mother closed her business and retired she starting wearing moo moos and I hated them. I would go to pick her up for lunch or something and she would have one on and I would make her get dressed before I would take her out.

Laura talks about the slippery slope to sweats and a mini van, someone needs to think about the slippery slope in retirement. I think it is far, far worse.

When I first graduated college I was the events manager for local college arts center. I had to work with a lot of men from the local theatre unions not to mention guys on tour with the shows that came in. I discovered my blond hair to be a hinderence and though I was looking for a change decided to dye it red and do you know the way I was treated changed instantly...crazy

I love the life I lead to much to have children, I don't think it would be fair to them. My husband doesn't particular like kids. He thinks they are a liability.

You should never have kids if you don't want them but you also shouldn't downgrade what a mother does. Having a family is not an easy task but it is very rewarding. My husband and I are very successful in our business lives and our family lives and I wouldn't have it any other way. Honestly kids bring so much joy and love into your life I can't imagine not having them. My husband is a Naval Nuclear Officer and I'm a work from home mom. Before I had kids I was part of the Creative Design team for the GYMBOREE (if you're a mom you know what the gymboree is). I loved my job and for years I wondered should I have kids. Finally we decided to and I have to say kids bring so much meaning to your life more then a successful career and money. I am able to say this from experience. I'm very grateful to have had the chance at both "lifestyles" and given the chance again I wouldn't change a thing.

Is Edith Head the person they based that Incredibles character on? Do you know the one I'm talking about, with the short hair (a bob) and big glasses?

Oh, and about the Pet Fashion Show, my hometown has one every year...only ours is a "haute dog" parade...it is super cute. Everyone brings out their dogs in Halloween costumes and parades them up and down Main Street.

----------------
Edith Head in real life had big round glasses and as I remember a bob like hair style.

They have a Pet Parade Show here too and everyone dresses them up for Halloween. It is cute, but the dogs are so funny trying to get the clothes off. Cats usually just lay down and refuse to move. I just laugh.

It all started out to keep the kids safe on Halloween. Organized activities that the kids would like so they were not walking all over possibly getting into trouble or kidnapped.

Yep, Edith Head. She did have the big round eye glasses and she usually had her hair pulled back but it was cut in a bab.
Here is a link to pictures of her.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No she doesn't qualify but we all know she got her idea from Ms Tyra banks. Tyra is smart sexy and successful. Her show Americas Next Top Model is HUGE and Heidi just spun the idea and came up with an America's next top Fashion Designer show. "

Is Americas Top Model a big hit? Ive never watched it and cant believe it would be bigger then PR. I seriously doubt Heidi stole anything from Tyra. Heidi has appeared on Tyas talk show and they discussed PR. If Heidi had stolen the idea from her I dont think they would have been so friendly with each other.

brillke

It's going into its 6th season? It was a huge hit when it came out and I don't really think she stole the idea. I was just being a brat. The shows are very similar though and Top Model has been around longer. Watch it and see for yourself.

I too worked and then was a stay at home mom and then I went back to work. I found both "careers" rewarding and would never change anything about either careers. Life is what you choose it to be, I totally respect the women who remain at home and never work, most all women that stay at home are really household engineers. They would make more money than any of us if they were paid for their services. I made my choices and respect others that have made theirs. I personally could not stay at home and do nothing, I would be pulling my hair out. That is not for me. But just because others stay at home for whatever reason does not mean they are not educated, well versed and don't contribute. Anyone that thinks differently needs to reevaluate their lives. As for wearing a moo moo, not my style, never owned one. I personally wear Chanel but I do shop at K Mart too. Who cares where you get your clothes, if they are right for you, go for it.
I personally feel people can be poor but if they earn an honest living they get my respect.

+++++++I had a need for adult connections when I stayed at home. A group of us moms got together, babies included, and went to the gym and exercised and then we went to one of homes and ate lunch. We all packed lunches and we had a blast. Kids had a riot and it just was our, "Great Escape." We learned to do many things, crafts, etc. I know the need for the adult connection. When you start responding goo goo for goo goo, it is time for a Great Escape.

Well considering what they look like I like the other spelling lol

Auf wiedersehen is not the catch phrase of the show. Its "YOURE EITHER IN OR YOURE OUT" Auf wiedersehen just caught on with the fans but it simply means "Goodbye" in German.

Exactly like 'Au revoir' or 'Hasta la vista': 'Until seeing [you] again'.

I think that because 'auf' sounds so much like 'off' we sort of latched on to 'auf'd' as being like 'offed'.

Whatever -- it still means 'gone'!

I can't stand it anymore. I've watched the show since the beginning, and LOVED it. A true reality competition show with people who have REAL talent. It amazes me how these guys & gals can take practically nothing and make something beautiful out of it. So much talent. But this last episode,... I can almost hear the crap coming from the producers on how to "ramp up the drama" on Runway. Eliminating Alison was a serious mistake. Vincent is a joke,... he is basically drama fodder. No talent, no vision,.... he produces crap. I can see the hand-writing on the wall,... the "drama-monkeys" have over-taken the show,... now it's down to the personalities of the designers. Granted, Alison's piece wasn't good, but worse than Vincent? I think not. She's been consistently talented,... while Vince has just..... sucked. Jeffrey should have won. And Uli should have been a close 2nd. But it seems, this show is de-evolving to the level of crap that other "producer-driven, drama-evoking" reality drivel that is out there in TV-land already. I believe real talent should prevail. I think most people would agree with me. If this kind of nonsense judging continues, 2 seasons tops,.... and bye-bye Runway.

I think many would agree with you on most points. It just seems Project Runway and their producers are more interested in the ratings. It has been said many times before, "Success Spoiled Rock Hunter." The Emmy competition seems to have made them loose their purpose and their touch with reality.

Well said. Even my 10 year old daughter has had an experience where one of her friends misinterpreted the tone of her email and they had a spat that lasted approximately four minutes. No big deal, but I did give her the lecture about the way it sounds in your head isn't always the way it sounds on paper. Legendary, I apologize. I am not, by nature, a catty person and should not have responded in a rude manner to your post. On a lighter note, I would like to report that one of my fourth graders showed me his handwriting paper and I gave him the necessary corrections, sent him back to his seat and without thinking, told him to "make it work". I believe I have an addiction. PRA meetings will be spring up in church basements and community centers all over America. On topic, I will be ever so disappointed if next week's challenge isn't something for a larger woman, It certainly seemed to be alluded to and the sillouette(spelling anyone?) did appear larger. However, they have been known to mislead.lol

We've had a few debates on this one...I'm thinking it is a clothing line for an everyday woman because each designer seems to be making something distinct. I think this is what each designer is doing:

[*] Angela is making linen pants with an alpaca sweater--with an Audry Hepburn vibe
[*] Kayne is making a poncho and jewelry
[*] Michael is making a black tailored jacket which is lined with a white graphic fabric
[*] Uli is makinga paisley patterned blouse

So, with that in mind, it didn't seem to me that they were working on one piece for one woman (like the Niki Hilton party dress challenge last season). It felt more like a collection.
Parnell
Thought I'd get some punch flowing. If you had to be a designer, who would it be, and why??

I think I would have been Katherine Gerdes. Mellow, out-of-the-way, not out for blood, just trying to hang in there.

Yikes...so far it sounds like taking in the panorama stationed at the slot machines on a Saturday afternoon in Atlantic City. What, no rhinestone studded track suits?

LOL. Well, I didn't get a chance to catch what Robert or Laura were up to, so there's a slight possibility. That disco ball dress might actually make it out onto the runway yet!

Oh, and I finally figured out what Kayne's last mess, I mean dress, looks like: A bag of Jiffy Pop Popcorn exploded in the microwave with green food dye!

I think you were very generous in your assessment of Kayne's mess. Looked like cow discs to me when the cow has eaten too much grass.

Back to bed...

[Frankly, I dislike any designer being auffed over a dress made from paper, or flowers, or food.. especially Andre!

I agree with you in spirit; that is to say, it sucks someone has to go during the duct tape/paper/perennial/tube sock etc. portion of the series. It should be about clothes and clothes only, right? What is unfortunate for cuties like Alison and Andrae is that other designers, with the same perimeters and restrictions, manage to make an outfit so much better than those who get auf'ed. If someone doesn't lose a challenge like this, then someone can't win a challenge like this, which is unfair to Michael or Chloe or whomever wins in the future.

Good point.
In Season One, it was the annoying Daniel Franco who lost such a challenge with his tailored butcher paper suit dress. I would have auffed Wendy Pepper on that one, for basically giving her model a string of candy to wear. Her model had to wear her own thong underneath for decency.

In season two, it was Andrae who lost with his moss and lavender dress. I thought he should have been given credit for using lavender.. but then I focus on scent so much. It was clear to me that Nick was the clear loser of that challenge, but they sacrificed Andrae who should have won the previous inspiration challenge also with his grey evening dress with sparkling stones. Michael Kors gave both wins to Daniel V. for his "orchid" blouse and painted orchid fern dress. But he did make the statement that challenge that there was an element of vulgarity to Nick's work. That was unfair. Nick's "spice" is something that both MK's and Dan V's clothes sorely lack.
When you say "cuties", I think I agree that physical appearance is important for a designer in the beginning. I think Daniel V. got much attention for looking like an "alternate Beatle". Alison was a favorite in part for her looks and Wendy Pepper has many more fans now that she has lost weight and dyed her hair. Now she looks as desperate and fake as her fashions.
Robert from Season One was the best looking guy and a lovable goof.. remember when he cracked his head open showing off for pretty blonde Alexandra?
I think Alexandra was the prettiest girl on PR so far as well, and one of the sweetest.
I think Season 3 is more focused on talent than looks.

As far as being well-dressed.. in Season One the best dressed man was Austin and the most stylish woman was Alexandra.
In season two, the best dressed man was Emmett and the best dressed woman was Kara Janx, and also Marla.
In season three, the best dressed man was Malan, currently it is Vincent. The best dressed woman is of course Laura, and the worst ever dressed in any season has to be Angela.

What woman wears jeans with a polka dot patch on the rear? Are they supposed to mimic crotchless pants? Very sad look.

Most underrated designer.. I think was Marla in Season 2. I adored her style. I thought her muslin challenge dress was very "Lord of the Rings" and from nature. I also loved how she dressed herself. She basically fell apart under the pressures of the show, but unlike Vincent, she never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was a real lady in the old fashioned sense and I got annoyed at Tim for harping on her when she panicked on the Hilton challenge.

Well, time for me to turn in..
Goodnight all.

Honestly, what I think Kayne did to save himself in this challenge? He looked around the room for ideas that he could copy with what materials he had, and he saw Uli's silver bubbly skirt and said, "I can do that," because if you look close his skirt on the runway (SUCH a transformation from the original concept!) was almost identical to her cut and style. Hey, in Manhattan we all have keys to each other's apartments, but we don't break in to steal their toasters. lol

The best dressed woman is of course Laura,
__________
Are you kidding? How can it be stated that Laura is the well dressed when she continually wears dresses that expose her rib cage. That may be pleasing to the eye of some, but to me she would be better served is she wore garments that hid this. Now let me say, I have no problem with plunging necklines when you have the body that compliments that style, but when you are so thin as to appear anorexic and the plunging neckline exposes the bones in your chest cavity I can not believe that is being best dressed. Is this stylish in the fashion capitals of the world? I ask, because after seeing what Heidi has been wearing and some of what Ms. Garcia has been wearing, if this can possibly be fashionable. When you put the three together it really makes me wonder were a fashion model, a fashion editor, and a mother/architect are doing their shopping, Fashion Trash are Us. This is supposed to be a program dedicated to Fashion. I can see people wearing blue jeans because they are working and they can get their clothes dirty in that setting. I do not mean to sound so harsh but many of Laura's outfits really are not appropriate in the work place and Heidi's outfits are acceptable only at Halloween. The fact that Laura wears a pair of riding boots and pants really makes me laugh. I never wore my riding clothes other than to ride horses and horse shows. Now maybe I am off base or out of touch with what is fashionable but Laura's outfit would get her sent home where I work and Heidi would be given one day to adjust her wardrobe and if she did not she then she would be sent home. I understand casual in the work place but neither of them fall into that category. If you are saying Laura is the best dressed of the designers I would still have to dissagree with you. Please explain to me how Laura can possibly be labeled well dressed because it appears my education in being "well dressed" appears to have been sadly neglected.
