lol here we go again.

Looks like we are all in agreement that it was a very poor decision to give the boot to Alison. I'd like to know at what point in a designer's career they would be asked to design a dress out of PAPER !!! Okay, so it was not her best work. And I'm SO in agreement about Heidi's words. I'd like to give HER the boot. How dare she say that her model looks Plus Size. Her model is probably puking into a toilet as we speak at her harsh words. I think that Alison was one of the top designers on the show and Vincent needs the boot quickly, so as not to prolong our agony . I think the top three now are: Michael, Kayne and Uli (my personal favorite is Kayne)

I've watched both and prefer Stacey and Clinton, sorry. although I have to admit the british pair do have their moments lol.

Yes, I prefer Stacey & Clinton, too. Although, I did skim one of the books from the British duo and they are right on the money with how to dress for your figure to look better. And, geez, they put it right out there and even use themselves for examples.

BTW, be sure to read Andy's blog. Hurray to Kathy N. for sticking up for the real size women of America! I have been a size 12 for a year now -- this is the largest I've ever been -- and I feel awful about myself! I won't even let my picture be taken anymore b/c it disgusts me! And the thing is, I do go to the gym - 2 to 4 times a week. I even have workout partner for two of those times. Before that, I had a personal trainer. And nothing seems to work. My workout partner and I have the same weight issues -- want to lose it, are working on it, but no success (and she's still working with a personal trainer). We're now both considering hypnotherapy!!! Aaaggghhhh!

Not to but into your business and you can tell me to go take a flyin leap but have you considered getting your thyroid checked?
gina2
I think the reason to design out of paper is to explore their range as designers. I think its pretty cool and definitly not boring!! Like in season 2 when they had to use plants and flowers. I still think kara's dress should have won that one.
welcome to the boards vandy!!

I like the BBC version better too but that long haired guy who was before Clinton (american version) was better I think. I see someone mentioned him and cant remember his name. I cannot remember it either but was watching something on tv once and they showed him, still has the great hair, and he now dresses Justin Timberlake. Not sure if its only JT but it was the only person he mentioned.

Gandm, you cant fight genetics. If youve tried everything, sounds like you have, maybe thats the body shape your supposed to be. Love yourself ands love life,

good idea damsel, I might have to do that too. My mom had a problem with hers a while back so it might be hereditary.(I know this was for gandm but I had to chime in)
gina2
glad to hear that the guy is still around. Kind of miss him on wntw.

I totally agree, gina...I think Dan's dress was so shapeless and Kara's dress looked like a Giuseppe Arcimboldo painting with how sculptural and beautiful she made nature...

Does anyone remember the first guy on What Not to Wear? He had longer gray hair. I really liked him.

So does anyone have further speculation on what will happen with tomorrow's episode? The Yahoo link that was posted entitled the Episode "Sacred". And that the designers are creating for "an unusual model".

Let me know if this has already been beaten to death over the weekend. That way I can go back and read. When I left, everyone was still just bashing the judges and talking about how much they will miss Alison.

His name was Wayne Scot Lucas. He is now the "stylist" for Spiegel. you can check his fashion forecasts out on www.spiegel.com

From the picture, it looks like his hair has been cut, or it may be in a ponytail and can't see it all from the angle of the photo.
gina2
thanks damsel! did you watch her video on the main page? the one where she talks about how she uses nature in her designs? She is really in touch with her artistic side.
legendaryface
Oh you poor thing you mentioned grade school, but trying to turn other members of this board against me would be kind of grade school too no? I think those cheap wool panties are on to tight, you’re being pretty hypocritical
gina2
thanks karing!! will check it out.

God I'm sorry. I hated him. I used to look at him and think "Have you looked in the mirror yourself? Who are you to tell someone they dress bad?" His hair was always hanging around his face, and don't get me wrong I loved me some hair band rockers in the 80's, but would I take fashion advice from them? I don't know...but he also wore oversized everything. It's his style sure but if you're gonna make your job telling people what to wear on tv you have to be accessible

No she doesn't qualify but we all know she got her idea from Ms Tyra banks. Tyra is smart sexy and successful. Her show Americas Next Top Model is HUGE and Heidi just spun the idea and came up with an America's next top Fashion Designer show. "

Is Americas Top Model a big hit? Ive never watched it and cant believe it would be bigger then PR. I seriously doubt Heidi stole anything from Tyra. Heidi has appeared on Tyas talk show and they discussed PR. If Heidi had stolen the idea from her I dont think they would have been so friendly with each other.

brillke

It's going into its 6th season? It was a huge hit when it came out and I don't really think she stole the idea. I was just being a brat. The shows are very similar though and Top Model has been around longer. Watch it and see for yourself.

I just wanted to add to this. ANTM was my first reality TV love. PR is my second.

ANTM 6 averaged 5.3 million overall viewers, while "Bravo recorded series and network highs with 3.4 million viewers for a much-anticipated episode featuring the expulsion of Michael."

So even with its most popular episode, ANTM still has about 2 million more viewers than PR. This is probably because Bravo is cable. At least when watching PR, we aren't bombarded with Heidi modeling pictures. (Which is what happens with Tyra on ANTM....)
gina2
Hi again karing, it doesn't even look like him lol. he looks so hip and modern now. I liked his old look and I hope he didn't cut his hair but I'm afraid he did.

Just accessing...

I have tried to figure the whats, whatevers and whys of tomorrow's episode and have come up with a big fat zero. I now have just stopped trying to figure it out. My head was starting to ache believe me. I truly believe it can not be Martha Stewart because I have a feeling she would have to figure out what is in it for her. But then maybe she is going into a fashion line for the middle aged woman. It would not suprise me but then I do not see Martha as a fashion icon. Maybe she is the everyday woman and decided that she could pick up a designer from the people on the show and that is the reason she aggreed to be the everyday woman (that is if she is). Who it is I have no clue but have disgarded Oprah as one. Guess we all will have to wait until tomorrow.
OT
I was out in the garage cleaning and pitching and finally decided even 98 degrees is too hot, bring on the trade winds and the wonderful 75 degree weather.

Naah, I wouldn't tell you to take a flyin' leap!! Any advice is certainly appreciated! What is your thyroid and how do you check it?

Somehow, I think it's just me, though....I love food too much! But the odd thing is, no matter what I do (even when I do really watch what I eat and am excercising), it seems I can only gain weight. If I'm moderately careful with food but stop exercising, I gain. Without changing my eating habits, when I do exercise, I don't lose. My body is a one way street! LOL

By the way, my mom is petite and wears a size 6. How frustrating is that!! Of course, she has little in the boob area and I had a reduction when I was 22. So we're definitely different body types...still, if I keep going at this rate, I'm just going to get bigger and bigger and bigger (like that girl in Willy Wonka who ate the blueberry gum)!!

Nope, not trying to turn anyone against you. I did say I applaud their effort. Its their business who they play nice with and more power to them I say.

Alison. Hands down. But, I she's got a very urban, hip style that is popular around these parts. So, she just looks like a regular, fashionable young girl to me.

I couldn't see myself dressing like Laura, even though I appreciate her level of sophistication. I mean, I respect that she doesn't want to let herself slide down the slippery slope of sweatpants and that she wears "classic" shapes.
But, I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing plunging necklines to work. I teach, for goodness sake! Can you imagine leaning over a student's desk in that cocktail dress???

I would not want to base my opinion solely on what the designers bring to the table on personal looks. I certainly like what Robert designs, and what Laura designs (classic) but Robert wears a tee shirt and jeans! I totally would wear Laura's Katherine Hepburn look.
gina2
Hiya MissOtis, I'm not sure what you mean? I get along with both brillke and legendary and figure its sure not to get boring with those 2 here. I guess I just haven't let anything either has said get to me. I'm here because I get a blast out of reading everyones posts. =o)

LOL gandm! I think you are great just the way you are. all I know about the thyroid is its some sort of gland that maybe has something to do with your metabolism? any doctors or nurses here? lol I just know my Mom was on medication for it and now is fine.

Oh, no, did it really? I don't like the idea of cowboy hats in any eastern city. OK for the west and southwest, of course.

"Violet...you're turning violet" One of my favorite scenes.
You general practitioner will either do the test or will send you to someone who will (I can't think of the name of the specailist right now)
It's a gland that releases hormones, I think (not a doctor). Something about if it gets the wrong singnal it can release the wrong amount and this can effect your (sorry males) cycle or your weight or your emotions...it can have a lot of effects. It can change too after giving birth or major traumas. Some people need to take things to get it back on track..
gina2
oops better clarify that. I meant unless you own a ranch or something of course.

Really? How in the heck does acupuncture help?? For weight loss? It's helped with my earlier back problems but hadn't thought about it for my weight...

And after watching all the plastic surgery episodes on discovery channel, I think I'll skip the lipo -- too painful and I'm too much of a wimp for that!!

BTW, this month's Real Simple had an article on jeans that discussed weight trends. Compared to 30 years ago (or something like that), women are 1 inch shorter and 25 pounds heavier, on average. In 2001, the average woman was 5'2" and 164 pounds.

What did I say about that word? I think LF is an aquired taste...I jumped on her at first but then one day we had a huge love-in and have accepted her for what she is..However, if she insults you, it's your right to respond in any fashion you wish. She opens that door, she knows what happens. No judgement from me.

I think the trend is mainly like straw hats that are "cowboy" in shape. I don't know..I think my husband looks good in his:)

Are you seeking approval? If thats what all the additude is about, it doesnt help. Drop the front and join in the fun. You cant deny it now, you want to be liked. You can either do an "oops" and pretend you didnt say it or have a laugh and have fun. Personally, I hope you drop the act and join in but its your call.

Laura has a cool, simple skirt that she pairs with a crisp white shirt which I think is really simple but elegant.

I haven't worn crisp white shirts in a long time because I hate to iron, and if you send them to the cleaners eventually they look yellowed. However, my great discovery is that Nordstrom's sells a wonderful shirt with great lines that doesn't WRINKLE. Take it right out of the dryer. I was blown away and in respect to Laura, I bought a white one.

Look what she has done to my name. I haven't posted since the first time she did that last week. It happens that I was autistic as a child. The autism developed into more serious neurological problems which continue to this day. Let's all be friends. Sorry.

Sounds so cute damselfly. My favorite picture of Chase is him at age 3 in his red cowboy boots my dad bought him and a cowboy hat. The cowboy boots were worn until nothing was left. He even wanted to wear them with shorts, eek!. TG he outgrew them but hes asking for a pair in black now.

anyone else noticed that in the pr commercials for "adopt a designer" the names they put up on the cell phone are laura, michael and jefrey (that's how they spell it)--kinda makes you wonder since the consensus seems to be that they are the final three. hmmmmm.....

I know this wasn't addressed to me, but I felt compelled to respond. I was in Louisiana for the weekend, and I don't know how anyone survives down there. It was still over 90 at midnight. When I arrived back in PA at midnight, it was around 70, and felt like heaven.
