Eve Arden played "Miss Brooks" It was a tv show about a teacher she was awesome in the part.the full title was "Our Miss Brooks"

true. no famous teachers (except Ron Clark, maybe). a decidedly unglamorous profession. but it would be a nice thing to do for the people that shape all of our lives....

I thought so too...and the last thing teachers spend their money on is clothing!! I know....I am a former school teacher (ok, ok, so I only did it one year - but that was enough!). Anyway, with schools being so under-funded, teachers often spend their salaries on school supplies. We would even sometimes run out of xerox paper and would have to supply our own!! How do you give a test if you don't have paper to print the test on?? Good grief!

Anyway, it would be a sure treat for teachers to get a new outfit made just for them.

has anybody watched the video clip from tonights show? it was fascinating, just enough to make you want to see the whole thing lol

Hi back at you.
Cindy1692
Teachers--what a great idea. And if they don't do it this season--do it for next. Auction off all the ensembles for charities that work to get teachers better pay.

The reversible dress Michael is doing is definately for a woman with a very limited wardrobe budget(like most of us)And maybe for someone who travels as well.

Where I live, the administrators and school superintendent have always been in the top-five to ten best paid in the country, while our teachers are among the lowest.

And I wonder, is PR setting us up for a Vincent win(ugh!) tonight?

I think, without meaning to (or maybe meaning to), we hit on the underlying thread of all of our wishes of what PR would make a challenge.

We want designs that will appeal to ourselves. I love fashion. Always have, but I often thought, 'beautiful on the model, not so much on me'.

I think many designers have realized this, and that is why they are now marketing at stores like Target (and yes, I know... Target doesn't serve all sizes equally). Designers know that they need to reach everyone, not just the famous few.

While we are all amused by the designers working for Nikki Hilton, Miss USA, Nancy O'Dell, etc - most of us say we would also like to see something a little more practical. (I loved the Mail challenge from Season 1).

Wow. I am rambling. And avoiding work. Lethal combo.

Thanks <patting myself on the back - LOL>. But really, then I wonder, who is it that shows her face on the runway?? Are there any famous teachers out there that the designers would all recognize? I can't remember even a TV teacher... so, I'm probably down the wrong path and it's going to be Martha Stewart....

I thought for sure that with Tim's 'you'll never guess it' remark from the dog challenge, that surely it wouldn't be dogs - just too obvious. Could be the same for this challenge....and heeeeerre's Martha!

I barely remember the TV show, really remember it more from reruns. How about Our Miss Brooks ? She was a teacher

Miss Brooks? I don't remember her!??!!

I think the character was played by Eve Arden? She was the principle in the Movie Grease

Glad Michael won, he has done some incredable work. But thought Jeffery's was better. As for Alison getting kicked off
as much as I liked her and her past outfits, this one was awful. Truly hideous she screwed up big time. Taping it together. Bad judgement bad design bad everything. Top three are going to be Laura,Michael and Jeffery.

I must say, I am very disappointed in this show over the past few weeks. It is clearly obvious that Vincent should of been sent home since day one however he keeps getting through somehow. This past week was the last straw for me. Kicking Allison out because of one bad decision rather than kicking Vincent out who has clearly made several bad decisions is ridiculous and it defeats the purpose of this whole show only to provide "Good TV"
I am a designer here in NYC and I do not understand how the judges of this show keep letting Vincent stay. I had much respect for this show in previous season's but this season it seems like the judges/producers are only trying to make for "good television" and as of last week I will no longer watch this show. Apparently, I am not the only person that feels this way.

Alison needed to be gone. Bad job all the way around. Top
three are going to be Laura, Michael and Jeffrey. Who should have won this time (Jeffrey) awesome design. Love Michael but he should not have won.

Hi everyone,
First the menu you have all been preparing for tonight sounds great and is not only making the wait even longer but making me hungry. LOL
Just thought I would share a little more FOOD for thought before tonight. Now my scores may be off but here the scorecard for the designers going into tonight’s performance regarding wins and or being in the bottom two.

Status for the designers
Robert –In the bottom two twice. 1 as part of a group, 1 for individual work
Kayne –1 individual win - 2 in the bottom two – one as a group, one as an individual
Michael- 2 individual wins and 1 group win
Jeffrey – 1 in the bottom two as an individual
Laura – 1 group win
Uil – 1 individual win and 1 in the bottom two as a group
Vincent –In the bottom two - 2 groups and 3 individual
Angela – 1 group win, in the bottom two, 1 group and 1 individual.

Enjoy. Have to get back to work for now.

On an unrelated note:

Is anyone else thrilled that there is finally backlash against Tom Cruise? I read the Dish posting about Paramount letting him go....brilliant. He has alienated too many people with his opinions about women and belief that he can heal people.

"Doncha think they would employ Crazy Von Nutterstein and his army of batsh*t hunchbacks if they turned a tidy profit?"

I just wish there was someone at Paramount who said, 'Tom, in this industry, you're either in, or you're out...and honey you are out....of touch with reality'

I am glad someone is keeping score, though I want to suggest a correction. Kayne won a group challenge with Robert. (Miss USA had two person teams.)

I realize I am new to this board and that this post may be too bold, but I really want to say this. I read this board for a while before ever posting. There was a wonderful, witty spirit here. But, that spirit and many of those posters appear to be gone now.

I don't think Legendary is the whole problem. I think the attempted solution to Legendary is a good part of the problem. Legendary's first posts were aggressive, but she was, obviously, just having fun with it. IMO her sense of humor was inappropriate, but she meant no real harm. Insulted posters responded in kind. It was a game. Back and forth. A battle of wits. Then it was decided that, perhaps, Legendary was just lonely, and we should all be kind to her, no matter what she was posting. The worse she got, the better she was treated, and, eventually, it turned into her spitting in the face of posters, while others just stood by or appeared to take her side. It didn't work as a solution, and the most respected posters were left alone, when insulted, adding further insult.

I was sad to see Alison go. I thought the judging was unfair. Vincent has made many many mistakes and Alison made one. Vincent should have been sent home. In my humble opinion, Alison is a much better designer than is Vincent. I do think Vincent makes for better TV and I believe the producers/judges made their decision based on that fact. Bummer

I am just surprised it has not happened before now, guess since the contract was not up yet they waited so he would not sue them.

His movies have not been doing well here in the states but still bringing in tons internationally.

I think the last really good movie he did was "A Few Good Men" and it was actually Jack Nicholson that made that movie.

**O/T**just my two cents about Tom Cruise? no great loss, I think he has been over-rated and overpaid for quite a while now. An actor should continue to grow in their craft and he seems to think he is better than that.

I soooo agree. I don't get all the fascination with him!! His best movie was probably Risky Business! Ok, maybe Jerry Maguire.

But lots of dogs....Vanilla Sky, Magnolia, Eyes Wide Shut (what the he** was that!?!?), Days of Thunder...

I wish I knew. There appears to be no moderator. Maybe try to post to her on neutral subjects. She likes to talk about the show. And writes good posts about it. But, I don't think posters should be asked not to defend themselves or others. That isn't fair to anyone, including Legendary. I know I was hurt when she kept calling me MissOtistic. I was autistic, as a child. She didn't know that, of course, but it hurt, anyway. After a week, I spoke up. But, that is my right. Or should be.

Actually War of the Worlds has done over a billion dollers in total according to CNN. All his movies up until MI3 have done well. I am a Tom Cruise fan as far as his movies go but his personal life ,which he has chosen to make public to an extent, is way too strange for me.

Legendary - I wanted to ask - what is Value City? There don't seem to be any of them where I live, or have lived. Could you enlighten me? Is it a mid-west/west coast company? Is it like TJ Maxx? or Ross? Their website just says it is a designer department store...

I had forgotten about Risky Business. I think I was one of the few that really did not care all that much for it.

His ex wife Nicole Kidman is not all that either in my opinion. Probably her best role was a little known movie with one of the Baldwin brothers. Malice was the movie and was by Aaron Sorkin.

I have a really good friend that lives in Australia and she told me that they do not care for her at all over there.

Not that this was directed to me, but, honestly, I think when you respond to ridiculous name-calling and cattiness from others, it just keeps it going and fuels the fire (ridiculous is not describing you, it's too describe the person writing those things). I believe when people throw blatant insults out there, it is to get a reaction out of people. If you don't react to them, they can't react to your reaction to them...know what I mean??

Loved Malice! But OMG! I thought I was the only one who didn't like her! I can't put my finger on it exactly but there's something about her that just screams LOW-CLASS SKANK!!! LOL. I just will not watch any movie that she is in...I don't care if it's the movie of the year, if Nicole is in it, I'm not watchin'!!!

Hmmm...never bothered to watch War of the Worlds. But would have to agree with you about Tom's straaaaaange private life! Jumping on couches? How old are you?? FoodFan, I have to make a statement about note. They accused me of actually posting as two different people(this name and legendary) this morning. They may be the most senior boarder with the most posts but they sling as much c**p as some others. I have always tried to be fair and impartial on this board and have made some acquaintances that I enjoy coming and talking with. Note included. Please can we just enjoy the show and talking with each other? By the way my name is gina and this is the only name I post under. =o)

I did see that and was stunned to see that LF has so gotten everyone's gizzard that even Notevayas got sucked in to the fracas. Sorry that that happened to you. Hopefully everybody will stop with the slings and arrows now.

New show tonight! Only 6 more hours to go!!!! I will probably miss it, because I have decided on the spur of the moment to take my son to see his uncle before going back to college tomorrow, and we are about to hit the road right now. My son is losing his hair (the baldness doc says it is genetic, but still it's very tough for a 20-year old), so I've been joking that we're taking his hair on a "farewell tour." He grins and then mutters "I'm putting you in a home."

do you have a good sangria recipe? i haven't made it since an ill-fated paella and sangria party a few years back......

In the big punch bowl combine:
3 oranges, finely sliced
4 lemons, finely sliced
4 limes, finely sliced
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. tequila
1 bottle dry white wine, chilled
1 bottle champagne, chilled
2 c. club soda

This is a yummy and powerful recipe!

Wow! Sounds fabulous. I think I need to organize a party just to try it out. In fact, I just had a brainstorm, I'm going to a party Saturday night and think I'll just bring some!!!!!! You are great, thanks for the idea.

Maybe it's teachers they're designing for? The reversible shirt dress that Michael is making would certainly be appropriate for a teacher. And I don't see anyone in the previews making evening wear...and I would consider teachers everyday women and it is back-to-school time of year! watcha think?

I am thinking "everyday woman" does sound like they asked a bunch of secretaries, teachers, nurses, or such to volunteer. What a blast this is going to be. Maybe it's some of the women on the production crew. That would be fun.

I just had a weird thought.. (oh, no.. not another conspiracy theory! ) No really.. What if mother and sister is not so far off? What if a challenge is going to be designing a new habit for an order of nuns? I know a sister, and I know that some orders change their style of dress very occasionally. That would totally freak Jeffrey out at least. Especially if a teaching sister supervised the workroom with a ruler in her hand. Jeffrey would have to watch his mouth! Angela might have to lower the hem on her bubble skirt, or at least cross her legs. Michael would be the teacher's pet..

As to the other stuff.. sorry I kicked up some dust in the early AM. I sort of "overthought" the problem. I'm just glad FoodfanOne is back, and am looking forward to everyone else returning after the show tonight.
As manipulative as the show is, it is still better than anything else on IMO. And I wonder if Heidi will do anything to mitigate her poor choice of words about the model.

It's not fair to only point at Heidi whose first language is German. Last season Tim Gunn called a model "marshmallow legs" I think. And this year it was "zaftig" which sounds more like it means "daft" than fat.

Everyone sometimes says things in the heat of the moment that in retrospect sounds worse than they meant it. Or it can sound innocuous to them and irritate others, like Michael Knight and his "Captain-save-a-[expletive deleted]" or whatever. If I ever called a woman a "[expletive deleted]" growing up, I would be in big trouble!

Language creates an environment. That is why I can say "[expletive deleted]" here, but I couldn't at a job. And I won't be making a habit of using the word "[expletive deleted]" here either!
notevayas
PS I want Michael Knight to win..

Good morning all you posters out there in Project Runway land. I finally cleaned my desk out at work and brought my crap and I do mean crap home. Kind of sad to leave a place I have been working at for so long but on to bigger and better challenges. Good bye grad students, hello med students. Move to come in two weeks. I hate moving, but it does afford a change in scenery and the chance to go back to where I was born and raised. Good bye to french fries with hot seasoning on them. Good bye unbearable heat in the summer. Good bye to all my DFW friends who I will miss.
Hello to flying around the countryside to see old friends.
That looks like a great recipe for sangria, will have to try it.
As I said hello all you out there in Project Runway land.
