I absolutely love this post. Oh please tell me the Grammer Hammer is watching.

Of course, I'm watching. And keeping my gloves on, biting my tongue, and working hard to restrain myself. >giggle< Just for laughs, though, I ran the virtual red pen over the initial quote in this missive!

I'm sure we wouldn't be able to read any of the post with all your red scribblings. Oy Vey!

I realize I am new to this board and that this post may be too bold, but I really want to say this. I read this board for a while before ever posting. There was a wonderful, witty spirit here. But, that spirit and many of those posters appear to be gone now.

I don't think Legendary is the whole problem. I think the attempted solution to Legendary is a good part of the problem. Legendary's first posts were aggressive, but she was, obviously, just having fun with it. IMO her sense of humor was inappropriate, but she meant no real harm. Insulted posters responded in kind. It was a game. Back and forth. A battle of wits. Then it was decided that, perhaps, Legendary was just lonely, and we should all be kind to her, no matter what she was posting. The worse she got, the better she was treated, and, eventually, it turned into her spitting in the face of posters, while others just stood by or appeared to take her side. It didn't work as a solution, and the most respected posters were left alone, when insulted, adding further insult.

MOO

As one of the insultees, I agree with your post wholeheartedly. I only had four cheeks to turn!

do you have a good sangria recipe? i haven't made it since an ill-fated paella and sangria party a few years back......

In the big punch bowl combine:
3 oranges, finely sliced
4 lemons, finely sliced
4 limes, finely sliced
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. tequila
1 bottle dry white wine, chilled
1 bottle champagne, chilled
2 c. club soda

This is a yummy and powerful recipe!

Wow! Sounds fabulous. I think I need to organize a party just to try it out. In fact, I just had a brainstorm, I'm going to a party Saturday night and think I'll just bring some!!!!!! You are great, thanks for the idea.

You're so welcome. Let me know how you like it (if you can remember that is)! LOL

"And I have to chime in to appologize to legendary and everyone here. I had read to the end of things when I made my comments a page or two back, but it was well after she had already started to make nice and Ijust missed it. (thats what happens when you skim too much )

The class structure in the country is the one thing that gets my goat every time and I over reacted, as usual!

Welcome, legendary, and please accept my sincerest "I'm sorry".

SIS"

Heya SisterZip,
While I applaud you and the others who are "playing nice" with the face now I do hope you all are not kidding yourselves. Face has not played nice yet and all you need to do is look at yesterdays comments to see what I mean. I feel almost insulted when I see so many coddling Face. Its like in grade school, you got the bully who everyone just grins and bites their tongue so everybody can play in the perviable sandbox. Face can say whatever they want, they mean nothing to me. I just hate seeing nice people go out of their way to be so pleasant to someone who enjoys being a troll.

brillke

It was not an apology for what I said, it was for over-reacting to the whole thing. I still have issues with people who are "at the top end of the class ladder" and think their lives are sooooo much better than anyone else's. I was apologizing for the overeaction. I don't know if it the case or not with LF, but some people just enjoy stirring the pot and I should know better than to take the bait.

A hormonal thing, I think!

Mix all ingredients together and let stand in a tightly sealed container or pitcher for at least 24 hours in the refrigerator before serving.

24 Hours !?! I don't have that kind of time!! Only a few hours to go....

Always on my menu for PR - a couple of yummy cheeses - Humbolt Fog being my fav; some fruit; some friends; and whatever we feel like eating. (Last week was chicken skewers and grilled peaches, and the week before was smoked salmon and creme fraiche). Dessert seems to always be [expletive deleted] flakes that are served by Bravo with almost calculated regularity.

Damsel - you should come down and join me and the former roomie for one of our PR parties. Do people get baby-sitters for 9 month olds? I don't know proper childcare rules....

Not to but into your business and you can tell me to go take a flyin leap but have you considered getting your thyroid checked?

Unfortunately, I have the joy of a hypo-thyroid. That is an underactive thyroid gland. At first I was hyper- (overactive), but now I have to take a pill everyday to suppliment . It is a simple blood test to determine if you have a problem.

An Endocrinologist is the specialist you might be sent to. My dr sent me to one & he is just great. He told me that it doesn't matter if you are hyper or hypo, the symptoms could be the same. Weight gain or loss, a general run down feeling, unusual anger...go to webmd.com and type in thyroid and it will explain this better.

Because of other issues, even though my thyroid is right on target, I still am having trouble losing weight. But one of my sisters has had some success now that she is on medication for it.

www.webmd.com best place ever for explainations of things.

Emmy coverage is on NBC so I'm guessing Tim will be on the preshow covering fashion, Bravo being owned by NBC and all.

Maybe you could try Acupuncture a friend of mine had issues with her weight and she had it done and she looks fabulous you should think about it darling.

Really? How in the heck does acupuncture help?? For weight loss? It's helped with my earlier back problems but hadn't thought about it for my weight...

And after watching all the plastic surgery episodes on discovery channel, I think I'll skip the lipo -- too painful and I'm too much of a wimp for that!!

BTW, this month's Real Simple had an article on jeans that discussed weight trends. Compared to 30 years ago (or something like that), women are 1 inch shorter and 25 pounds heavier, on average. In 2001, the average woman was 5'2" and 164 pounds.

there are places here in St. Louis that offer "Lipo-Disolve". I guess it is a pill and it gets rid of the cellulite without lipo. Their motto is.....It doesn't suck!

Pierre is married to my friend Kim. He's from Belgium and works for an NGO helping women in African countries to create cottage industries and small farms. He is an awesome man. In all the moves I have made I have missed the seasons of northern Illinois the most. It will be like getting in touch with my roots. Cannot wait to sit on the rocks and watch the waves come in on Lake Michigan. Go to the concerts in Grant Park, enjoy the fabulous museums of Chicago. I see King Tut is back for the third time, have been gone way to long and never have seen it yet. In Kansas when it came the first time, in California the second time but going to catch it this time. I always wanted to be involved with antiquities excavation but my mother said, "You riding around on a camel with those funny hats and scarf blowing in the breeze, I am laughing at the image." When I stopped to think about it she was right. Don't want camels spitting in my face.

I have no more confidence in the show and am sorely dissapointed. Poor Allison, I wish you well...snip /quote]

I am not a fan of reality shows since I find them trite and filled with drama. But I've been a fan of PR since early in season one because I found the show to be quality and actually taught me something about sewing and design. I like the judges and I think Heidi Klum is darling and has personality.

All that said, I'm dissapointed about Alison being kicked off and for the first time find the integrity of the producers suspect.

I understand choosing those with personality and design flair for good viewing reasons. And now I understand why in season two Daniel V. got almost zero camera time for serveral weeks. His designs were all great, but he was polite, professional and without drama. In fact, I wonder if the producers asked him to ramp it up a bit.

So OK, fine. Got that. I think keeping Santino in the mix was a good idea. But kicking off Alison was, in my opinion, a serious gaff. The producers in that one decision reduced PR to a low-end, dramatic reality show, instead of the quality it has been up to now that has been gifted with an adoring and smart audience. They showed a little too much of their thinking and let their viewers in on it-- that the viewers aren't that savvy.

I won't stop watching PR because I love it. But I'm writing a letter to the producers explaining my sincere dissapointment at their decision which was not just a mistake of taste, but an underestimation of what their viewers expectations.

Yeah I know, Vincent is wired for a freakout plus lets face it, he's pushing fifty and going nowhere. Alison's world is her oyster. There is no doubt she'll go far with her youth, looks, sweet personality and style. I'll be looking forward to the reunion show.

And the comment about the larger model? Fashion is about sales and clothes look good on girls built like hangers so those of us 5"2, 125 pounders with short legs can dream about looking good in clothes, although I'll pass on being emaciated. Yuk.

Swiss you leaving out area? Hope you are heading to much cooler weather.
When do you actually move? Are we going to lose you for a while on here?

Here's an excellent, fairly traditional (i.e. no fizzie water) recipe for sangria...

2 bottles rioja (or any red Spanish table wine)
1 cup brandy
1/2 cup triple sec
1 cup orange juice
1 cup pomegranate juice
1/2 cup simple syrup, or more to taste (equal parts sugar and water, heated until sugar dissolves, cooled)
Orange slices
Blackberries
Pomegranate seeds

Mix all ingredients together and let stand in a tightly sealed container or pitcher for at least 24 hours in the refrigerator before serving.
