I'm plus size and I think it's silly for a plus size person (or a normal size person for that fact) to watch a show about runway fashion, where the models are usually size 0, and get sensitive about body image. Of course it's outside the realm of real women, but being able to flatter the female form is pretty much imperative one of being a designer, regardless of the size you're designing for.
Bravo honestly shouldn't have to tiptoe around and pretend that "excess" fat is universally attractive in the fashion world.
How about Project Runway design for plus size models next year - kind of add a new dimension to the show.
Being plus size - i understand the need for not looking any bigger than i am - i'd prefer to look smaller - so i understood what they were trying to say. However, they said it horrendously. Shame on them for not knowing how to be...let's say...tactful.

I'm sorry if I sound overly redundant with what everyone else is saying, but I'm one of those viewers who created a new username just to express the extreme disappointment I felt with this episode as well as the direction of season 3.
I wonder if the producers are checking this out right now, and how many people are first time posters tonight.
And... as much as everyone is saying they arent going to watch again I would be willing to put money on the fact that next weeks episode will probably have some of the highest ratings ever because like everyone else on here I will be talking about this at work tomorrow morning!
no, i think they really went too far with this one. they think they are making alison a sacrificial lamb for good ratings, but i think this one is going to backfire on them. when the flack over this episode has subsided in a few days, i think a lot of fans will be left with a really bad taste in their mouth when thinking about PR and how corporate it has become, instead of being hip and young, like it started out. PR has definitely jumped the shark.
I absolutely agree. They have really insulted us and I would like to think that most people have a little more integrity than they do. They messed up BIG

I'm part of a Navy Wives Group for my husbands boat. We have book clubs, pot lucks, fund raisers, etc... We also have a program we watch every season. PR has been our show since the first season. It has been very obvious that this season is more about personalities and drama (aka good tv) then it is about talent and fashion. After this episode we have decided to drop PR from are viewing list. There are different wives clubs for different sections. My husband is on gold crew and we have around 200 women/ wives in our wives club. Other clubs on our boat and other boats are feeling the same right about now. PR is not worth a second glance. The judges are not to be taken seriously and I myself have lost all respect for them. So long PR you will not be missed.
Oh, come on people. If they didn't keep some people for their entertaining personalities everyone would be complaining about how boring the show is!
Not if you really enjoy fashion
I seem to remember one of the complaints about this season was that everyone was too good and there was no one like Santino or Andrae to spice it up. I think that season two was the best. I was cracking up every episode.

i am sitting here thinking that the judges horrible decision was a dream and that next week alison will be back on. i cant even believe that they would keep basket head over her. the only thing that will make me feel better about this gross misjudgement is if the judges renounce their decision and bring her back. i cant even imagine that the producers are even gaining from this ERROR because vincent is not even appealing. i feel bad for the guy if he cashed in his 401k because the dress he made for tonights viewing reminded me of a kindergarten project i did. Seriously, i am not trying to rag on him so much as just trying to explain how angry i am over this elimination. and from the looks of it, i am not alone. this show rarely disappoints me with eliminations, but this one time has affected me so much, that i have really lost respect for the show. Tim Gunn even questions their decision!!!!! Please, if a producer is reading this, do all of us fans a huge favor and admit that this is so wrong and bring her back. Alison is on the cutting edge of fashion and i would wear her clothes every day of the week. I cant believe they busted on her for being a female designer and not getting fit right for the female body, but i wouldnt wear the "garment" that vincent made even if it fit like a glove...it was just plain laughable.
Quote:Quote:
Yes, Vincent's dress was a sack with trash all over it, but if you looked carefully, the lines of the gown were exquisite and the bodice was quite arrestingly cut. In real cloth without the trash doodads, this gown would have been worthy of Laura, Michael, or Kayne. The judges do see something in him, it's just hard for us out in TV land to see it as well.
Question: What was the Black Sports bra thing Vincent also used in the dress? Was that Legal? Was it something from the Recycle center? If it was there how come we didn't see any other designers use it. Come on, black clothlike, they would have been fighting over it and that would have made good tv!

Did anyone get next week's challenge hint? Heidi said something about "real life woman"... So I'm guessing that means a plus sized (normal sized) woman. Ironic given Heidi's apparent revulsion of women over a size 2.

I'm so upset that Alison's gone... was anyone else just waiting for her and Jeffrey to get together? I'll admit he's an ass, but I like him anyway, and he looked really affectionate towards her.
and Angela needs to go, completely agree that she has no taste whatsoever. ditto Vincent.
Alison showed Jeffrey's redeeming side. He seemed very tight with her from the last challenge. He definitely respected her ability, too. Of the remaining female designers, I don't think he'd been nice to any of 'em. He's not the badest dude in the world but he definitely has a bad side that's prominient.

As far as people being jealous of Laura; it's not a matter of jealousy, it is a matter of poor manners. Laura is talented, but she is all about herself. She even tried to manipulate and dominate the goodbye time for Allison by starting another raving drama with Vincent. I am glad that Kayne took the attention back to saying goodbye to Allison instead of Laura trying to steal the spotlight. Her fashions are classic and she has talent, but her choice of words are poor taste. I'm sorry, but my mother never talked trash like that about or to other people.
I feel sorry for that woman's children. They have got to be messed up.

I cannot believe Allison went home! I'm just so upset about it. She had more passion and TALENT than any one on the show this season. Regardless, she is already a star and will go very far as a fashion designer. Why is Vincent still on the show?! Have the judges forgotton what this competition is about? Yeah, talent. The guy is a whack job and I think he lost his marbles in the 80s.
Allison, you have a great sense of style, grace and passion for what you do. I cannot wait to see what amazing, beautiful designs you give to the world. Best of luck.
"I think someone said it earlier. They think Vincent may have a breakdown very soon and they want to catch it on tv."

I don't watch much reality TV, because I can live without the drama, but this show is becoming just what I dislike-a drama filled pool with a bunch of whining designers swimming around while drowning one another to save face. Most of the time I have agreed with the choices that the judges have made, but this one clearly proves that they are being puppeted by the producers so that the show will get an Emmy nom or two once again.
Couldn't disagree with you more. Season 1 was filled with whining, crying drama queens, and Season 2 had only about 4 competent designers. This season has a very strong field of more mature designers who can concentrate on the challenge. They don't whine at each other or burst into tears in the workroom, they just work with fanatical concentration. They just stop to take the occasional swipe at each other when the cameraman is going around collecting sound bites.
And, I don't think for a minute that the producers intervened to influence this desision. Michael Kors is very partial to the good gown-maker, and this may be what saved Kayne. While there is a huge disagreement among the posters here as to whether Vincent's gown was junk or art, few defend Allison's dress. It was an unfortunate disaster and Allison knew it. She did deserve to go, IMO.
Kayne was warned that he just barely made it, and by Michael Kors, no less. And Vincent quietly fought back with Santino-like courage when faced with criticism of his outfit. He was the only one in the bottom 3 who did.
Once again, FFI, you have noticed something I totally missed: that Vincent fought a Santino-like fight for his dress. Excellent point, and, I think, it's the reason he's still on.

They want someone whose sellable. Yah they'll keep the characters around for good TV but if you are going to win you need to sell yourself. They're all so negative about season1 winner Jay. They're acting like they learned some sort of lesson...

I mean she made it seem like the worst thing in the world is being a Plus Size Model.... Whatever... That was a low Blow.../.Any Who!!!!
Michael Rocks@@@ I love him He really rocks!!!!
Vincent should have left and not Alison!!!
Not only was it a low blow....in its own way, a slam on all of us plus size women who watch the show! I know it's already filmed and so on and so on.....but Bravo...TAKE NOTE!

PS: and would those of you who have bought into the "plus size" comment as being the model is fat, please rethink your statement. My fat little self might take it personal, doncha know! *smile*
Just a comment, in the fashion world i believe a "plus size" model starts at either a size 10 or 12. More than 50% of the women in the U.S are a size 12 or larger (it might be a 14 or larger). As a plus size myself, it always makes me wonder when i go shopping where are all the nice clothes for the majority of us out here???
If a 10 or a 12 is a plus size, what does that make someone who wears a 22 or 24? Yes, I am fat, and yes, I am plus plus, but just what is the technical term for it?

I would just like to say that I absolutely refuse to continue watching the blasphemy on project runway. [censored] this atrocious [censored]. Vincent, I don't even know what to say about the repulsive garments he makes. Are you [censored] joking. And Angela, [censored] Christ! That waste of life should jump out the window of their NYC apartment. As for giving Allison the boot, What the [censored] is wrong with the judges on that show. It is obvious that Nina, Micheal, and Heidi are now blind, of course I would be too if I had to look at Vince and Angela's outfits every god damn day.

I love Laura and Micheal's designs from week to week. I think Laura is quite smart enough to be frustrated that Vincent is still there. I think she was about ready to burst when she had to witness Allison leaving and Vincent defending his piece of trash. I have to say that I laugh at alot of the things that she says because they are true. I also think that the pressure is really starting to kick in to where these guys are getting sick of each other.

I love Michael. Man believe me i do. I think he should be in the last three definetly. But in this challenge, JEFFREY WAS ROBBED, THIEFED, PLAYED. IT'S LIKE THERE IS A CURSE ON HIM. But you know what they say. you don't need to win every challenge. you can be second in all of them and stil come out on top.
As I've said many times, Michael is by far my favorite designer this season. And, though I don't think I've said it before on these boards, Jeffrey is definitely one of my least favorites. That said, to be fair, I would have ranked Michael a very strong no. 2 this week and would have given Jeffrey the win.
As I wrote 2 weeks ago, even the worst batter occasionally hits a home run, and even the best batter occasionally strikes out. This week, Jeffrey was the weak batter who finally hit it out of the park, and Kayne and Allison were both all-stars who struck out.

Harry Winston was THE person to go for big diamonds (think Hope and Taylor/Burton). I believe the store is still in existance in NY.
