I'm plus size and I think it's silly for a plus size person (or a normal size person for that fact) to watch a show about runway fashion, where the models are usually size 0, and get sensitive about body image. Of course it's outside the realm of real women, but being able to flatter the female form is pretty much imperative one of being a designer, regardless of the size you're designing for.

Bravo honestly shouldn't have to tiptoe around and pretend that "excess" fat is universally attractive in the fashion world.

How about Project Runway design for plus size models next year - kind of add a new dimension to the show.

Being plus size - i understand the need for not looking any bigger than i am - i'd prefer to look smaller - so i understood what they were trying to say. However, they said it horrendously. Shame on them for not knowing how to be...let's say...tactful.

Nini

I know my dander was up because Allison did not deserve the loss....and it made me even angrier that posters were making statements that it wasn't Allison's fault her model was fat. I don't expect to see the designers do fashions that I, as a size 20, would wear. I do expect a reasonable awareness of the audience from Heidi and people not to jump on the "well, her model was fat" thing. My apologies if I offended. But I still am unhappy Allison was auf'd over Vincent!

Its a shame the show ended the way it did! After reading 32 plus pages of posts, I hope the producers read this board! Maybe its me but PR feels like its about to sell out! To INC, Saturn, Macey's etc etc.

What the bleep is Heidi's job on the show???? ..... To say go to Tim to find out your task and then to say "Aventisen" at the end of the show?????

Heidi is the co-owner of the show. Her job is host and judge, as she has extensive modeling experience, business acumen, design and fashion licensing experience, etc. Her job also is to shamelessly flash those spectacular gams. She's no dope, and knows full well that the show has to have some sex appeal to help grab those ratings.

And, not liking the harsh sound of the planned "You're cut," or whatever the original statement was going to be, she came up with the "Auf wiedersehen."

I'm sorry if I sound overly redundant with what everyone else is saying, but I'm one of those viewers who created a new username just to express the extreme disappointment I felt with this episode as well as the direction of season 3.

I wonder if the producers are checking this out right now, and how many people are first time posters tonight.

And... as much as everyone is saying they arent going to watch again I would be willing to put money on the fact that next weeks episode will probably have some of the highest ratings ever because like everyone else on here I will be talking about this at work tomorrow morning!

no, i think they really went too far with this one. they think they are making alison a sacrificial lamb for good ratings, but i think this one is going to backfire on them. when the flack over this episode has subsided in a few days, i think a lot of fans will be left with a really bad taste in their mouth when thinking about PR and how corporate it has become, instead of being hip and young, like it started out. PR has definitely jumped the shark.

I absolutely agree. They have really insulted us and I would like to think that most people have a little more integrity than they do. They messed up BIG

I too created a log-on to say how uphalled I am that Allison was kicked off. I am done.

I'm part of a Navy Wives Group for my husbands boat. We have book clubs, pot lucks, fund raisers, etc... We also have a program we watch every season. PR has been our show since the first season. It has been very obvious that this season is more about personalities and drama (aka good tv) then it is about talent and fashion. After this episode we have decided to drop PR from are viewing list. There are different wives clubs for different sections. My husband is on gold crew and we have around 200 women/ wives in our wives club. Other clubs on our boat and other boats are feeling the same right about now. PR is not worth a second glance. The judges are not to be taken seriously and I myself have lost all respect for them. So long PR you will not be missed.

Oh, come on people. If they didn't keep some people for their entertaining personalities everyone would be complaining about how boring the show is!

Not if you really enjoy fashion

I seem to remember one of the complaints about this season was that everyone was too good and there was no one like Santino or Andrae to spice it up. I think that season two was the best. I was cracking up every episode.

I miss that. What happened to Andrae???
CarolinaGirl
I like Laura...very much! Yeah, she's bitchy and seems to enjoy picking at some of her competitors (some more than others!) It was too bad she didn't hold back and yap at Vincent later on...she was pissed Allison left instead of him.

Michael can really design a well-fitting dress, can he not? Wow, he's just genius at getting the fit perfect no matter which model he has at the moment.

Also like Uli and Kayne...think 3 of these 4 will make it to Fashion Week. Hope so, anyway!
pj_runaway
michael does make an excellent presentation. the top he made was exquisite. not sure about how the skirt came up in the back, though, that seemed kind of weird.

of course, we only get to see each design for like 5 seconds total. they do that on purpose, too, so we can't really get a good look and make an informed judgment. keeps the "suspense" factor higher. rolleyes.gif

i am sitting here thinking that the judges horrible decision was a dream and that next week alison will be back on. i cant even believe that they would keep basket head over her. the only thing that will make me feel better about this gross misjudgement is if the judges renounce their decision and bring her back. i cant even imagine that the producers are even gaining from this ERROR because vincent is not even appealing. i feel bad for the guy if he cashed in his 401k because the dress he made for tonights viewing reminded me of a kindergarten project i did. Seriously, i am not trying to rag on him so much as just trying to explain how angry i am over this elimination. and from the looks of it, i am not alone. this show rarely disappoints me with eliminations, but this one time has affected me so much, that i have really lost respect for the show. Tim Gunn even questions their decision!!!!! Please, if a producer is reading this, do all of us fans a huge favor and admit that this is so wrong and bring her back. Alison is on the cutting edge of fashion and i would wear her clothes every day of the week. I cant believe they busted on her for being a female designer and not getting fit right for the female body, but i wouldnt wear the "garment" that vincent made even if it fit like a glove...it was just plain laughable.

Hellooooo, this whole season is in the can already.

Yes, Vincent's dress was a sack with trash all over it, but if you looked carefully, the lines of the gown were exquisite and the bodice was quite arrestingly cut. In real cloth without the trash doodads, this gown would have been worthy of Laura, Michael, or Kayne. The judges do see something in him, it's just hard for us out in TV land to see it as well.

Question: What was the Black Sports bra thing Vincent also used in the dress? Was that Legal? Was it something from the Recycle center? If it was there how come we didn't see any other designers use it. Come on, black clothlike, they would have been fighting over it and that would have made good tv!

Did anyone get next week's challenge hint? Heidi said something about "real life woman"... So I'm guessing that means a plus sized (normal sized) woman. Ironic given Heidi's apparent revulsion of women over a size 2.

the everyday woman *

Yah know I resent and resemble that remark. I may be more average that Ms Hiedi but that doesn't make me everyday. I had a baby 2 months after she did and just because I didn't flatten out my tummy perfectly 3 weeks afterwards doesn't make her any more rare or different...in the end we're both moms...why and I everyday...god I hate terminology

I'm so upset that Alison's gone... was anyone else just waiting for her and Jeffrey to get together? I'll admit he's an ass, but I like him anyway, and he looked really affectionate towards her.

and Angela needs to go, completely agree that she has no taste whatsoever. ditto Vincent.

Alison showed Jeffrey's redeeming side. He seemed very tight with her from the last challenge. He definitely respected her ability, too. Of the remaining female designers, I don't think he'd been nice to any of 'em. He's not the badest dude in the world but he definitely has a bad side that's prominient.

Not to take anything away from Alison because I think she was one the truly great, if underestimated, designers this season (I put her above both Kayne and Robert), but she was one of the few who was tight with Keith and Jeffrey and actually voiced disappointment over the decision to kick Keith off. Check photos on Jeff's myspace to see this fraternity. It's the one thing about Ali that made no sense to me. It's just who she rolled with on the show.

She even tried to manipulate and dominate the goodbye time for Allison by starting another raving drama with Vincent. I am glad that Kayne took the attention back to saying goodbye to Allison instead of Laura trying to steal the spotlight. Her fashions are classic and she has talent, but her choice of words are poor taste. I'm sorry, but my mother never talked trash like that about or to other people.

I cannot believe Allison went home! I'm just so upset about it. She had more passion and TALENT than any one on the show this season. Regardless, she is already a star and will go very far as a fashion designer. Why is Vincent still on the show?! Have the judges forgotton what this competition is about? Yeah, talent. The guy is a whack job and I think he lost his marbles in the 80s.

Allison, you have a great sense of style, grace and passion for what you do. I cannot wait to see what amazing, beautiful designs you give to the world. Best of luck.

"I think someone said it earlier. They think Vincent may have a breakdown very soon and they want to catch it on tv."

this is the funniest thing i have read all night. i like vincent. people need to realize that he is older and feels his time is up in the business. this is probably his last shot, plus he cashed in his 401k, thats a big deal. its not like he's younger and have time if you will to build his 401k up again. vincent designs are too over the top f0r me, much like dolce & gabana (sp). i can't stand most of their designs.

I don't watch much reality TV, because I can live without the drama, but this show is becoming just what I dislike-a drama filled pool with a bunch of whining designers swimming around while drowning one another to save face. Most of the time I have agreed with the choices that the judges have made, but this one clearly proves that they are being puppeted by the producers so that the show will get an Emmy nom or two once again.

Couldn't disagree with you more. Season 1 was filled with whining, crying drama queens, and Season 2 had only about 4 competent designers. This season has a very strong field of more mature designers who can concentrate on the challenge. They don't whine at each other or burst into tears in the workroom, they just work with fanatical concentration. They just stop to take the occasional swipe at each other when the cameraman is going around collecting sound bites.

And, I don't think for a minute that the producers intervened to influence this desision. Michael Kors is very partial to the good gown-maker, and this may be what saved Kayne. While there is a huge disagreement among the posters here as to whether Vincent's gown was junk or art, few defend Allison's dress. It was an unfortunate disaster and Allison knew it. She did deserve to go, IMO.

Kayne was warned that he just barely made it, and by Michael Kors, no less. And Vincent quietly fought back with Santino-like courage when faced with criticism of his outfit. He was the only one in the bottom 3 who did.

Once again, FFI, you have noticed something I totally missed: that Vincent fought a Santino-like fight for his dress. Excellent point, and, I think, it's the reason he's still on.

Could be. A point worth pondering.

They want someone whose sellable. Yah they'll keep the characters around for good TV but if you are going to win you need to sell yourself. They're all so negative about season1 winner Jay. They're acting like they learned some sort of lesson...

I've felt for a while that they regret not considering "sell-ability" the first season and wish they had chosen the very professional Kara Saun over Jay.

Then they "over-corrected" and chose (yawn) the very professional Chloe over the more talented Santino. I think they misgudged Santino and felt he might "pull a Jay" on them. I think he would have delivered greatness.

But they erred in giving it to Chloe if they expected greatness from her. All they got was the same Lot 8 stuff with higher price tags.

PS: and would those of you who have bought into the "plus size" comment as being the model is fat, please rethink your statement. My fat little self might take it personal, doncha know! *smile*

Just a comment, in the fashion world i believe a "plus size" model starts at either a size 10 or 12. More than 50% of the women in the U.S are a size 12 or larger (it might be a 14 or larger). As a plus size myself, it always makes me wonder when i go shopping where are all the nice clothes for the majority of us out here???

If a 10 or a 12 is a plus size, what does that make someone who wears a 22 or 24? Yes, I am fat, and yes, I am plus plus, but just what is the technical term for it?

here's an idea for the producers, how about NOT encouraging people's nastiness. how about NOT showing to guys trashing laura and making fun of her. how about the contestants not making fun of anyone else at all. i am so tired of this kind of crap going on. i watch this show for the creativeness, not for the petty stuff that goes on.

last season they kept santino when he was a real creep and the nicer person was let go, even though santino's outfit was one of the worst.

here is a clue producers, nastiness does not equal good television - stooping to the lowest common denominator does not equal good television.

But you know what they say. you don't need to win every challenge. you can be second in all of them and stil come out on top.

As I've said many times, Michael is by far my favorite designer this season. And, though I don't think I've said it before on these boards, Jeffrey is definitely one of my least favorites. That said, to be fair, I would have ranked Michael a very strong no. 2 this week and would have given Jeffrey the win.

As I wrote 2 weeks ago, even the worst batter occasionally hits a home run, and even the best batter occasionally strikes out. This week, Jeffrey was the weak batter who finally hit it out of the park, and Kayne and Allison were both all-stars who struck out.

Great analogy! Does that make Vincent the water boy who doesn't have a clue?

I am soooo disappointed in the judges!! Alison was by far one of the best designers ever on the show. She deserved to stay. The judges are either blind or stupid. She made such beautiful and interesting clothes and has killer style. So she had one bad week -- damn, Vincent has had several bad weeks and should have gone bye, bye. I don't even want to watch the show anymore, I think its fixed. They are ignoring Alison's true talent just because she is young, quiet and blonde.
Alison should have stayed on the show. She's intriguing and talented and should get her own show. I'd watch that.

He was just making a rich [expletive deleted] comment and telling her to stick it up her nose rather than elsewhere.

Ok. I know Laura has ONE actual boobie cuz I just saw it popping out while she berated Vincent about his model not walking. WHY is she such a b****? She is like a dog with a bone who just will NOT let things go. Loved the remark that her dress was something she would wear. Uh, duh. ALL her dresses look the same and are something she would wear. Slashed to the waist empire style I AM AN ARCHITECT plain. We get it. Move on. Stop building A frames and branch out a bit. Maybe a little duplex next time.

Jeffrey. Talent but oh my. Is he always that nasty? He does not have one single nice thing to say about ANYBODY ever. As I watch him week after week making his nasty snide remarks about everyone else I think: Who in the business will ever really want to work with someone like that? Does he not get fashion is a business and making nice, the old iron fist in a velvet glove, will get you further. Just a nasty piece of work. Must be very insecure to be so mean. Probaly the old big neck small penis syndrome.

Michael is in a groove. Flew under the radar early. But consistently talented wonderful outfits. He glides above the storm clouds. He knows how to play nice in the sandbox while Laura and Jeffrey are wacking it out. And I just know he is nice to his Mom.

Kayne and Robert are the cutest couple and need to set up their own Barbie Pagent/Wedding shop thing going. They would be the perfect next Bagdley Mischca.

Angela shut up. You are too old to be dressing like you are in high school and your vocal enthusiasm everytime and OMG faces at each challenge are wearing thin. Gosh golly gee. Unless the next challenge is the angel Gabriel announcing it is to dress the VIrgin Mary in new Annuciation gowns nothing calls for that face at the reveal.

Allison was vanilla. Sweet but no mocha almond coffee. Yes she will be designing stuff with cute matching headbands somewhere else. But you will not be missing her at the end.

Vincent is crazy like a fox. We have all talked about how he seems on the edge of a breakdown. But he is just a menopausal guy with that little fidget going. His meds are working fine and I think we will not see the meltdown we are all expecting. I think he is guy who is giving it one last shot but is missing his kids. He would work better if towards the end of the challenge the door opened and his family piled in and brought wine and mucnhies and "oh gosh dad that is cool" and he could talk and laugh. I think he is probably fun at dinner. And unlike Laura would not shoot you when you did NOT eat the vegetables SHE chose for you.

I think Laura is having her 6th baby to replace the others she left out for the wolves when they did not adhere to her strict standards.

And just WHO do we think this is referring to? Guess anyone?

It's not entirely up to the judges to decide who stays and who goes. The produces have a say in that also, it says so in the closing credits. Tonight Heidi used the word barely when she told Vincent he was in. She used that word once before, when Malan was let go. She said "Angela, you're in, barely" It seems obvious that Heidi uses the term barely, the producers had the final say about who stayed and who left. I agree Allison's dress was better than Vincent's, but Vincent makes for better viewing, so does Angela and Laura. Those three are always causing some kind of conflict. That's a big part of the reason people tune in.

Ok Allison made a misstep, but her garment at least had some texture to it, it just went wrong when it came to fit, color...Vincent's was just ALL WRONG, there was no saving grace for that get up. Vincent has a slew of atrocities lying in his wake, yet he isn't auffed & to add insult to injury Heidi proclaims that moron likes to push the envelope! All his garments are so simple, & not Supermom (sorry guys, I've nicknamed most of them lol) simple & elegant & thoughtful, but like hmmm, i can't design anything more complex than a column dress simple. It's all so disheartening! I was glad to see Micheal get yet another well deserved win YAY!!
