I am so glad Vincent didn't get Auf'd but sad that Allison did.

I am also glad Michael won. Hopefully Vincent will listen have

listened to the judges and really wow everyone. smile.gif

I think the next challenge will be to design for a plus size woman. I base this guess on Heidi's comment "the average woman", the shape of the woman on the screen (Emme?) and the dress form Michael was using - it looked about a size 14. I am pretty sure I'm right and am looking forward to seeing it.

If you are correct and it is Emme that should make for a good show. She was at a trunk show I attended 2 years ago and was very nice. She is also prettier in person than in print or maybe it was just that her personality shone through more. She also has her own clothing line so that would make her a better judge I would think.
But then, I was not that impressed with Kate Spade or Vera Wang lol.

interesting challenge last night that's for sure, but two (so far) team challenges and a waste recycling plant as source materials--what-is bravo running out of money? but i agree-it's about time for a plus-size challenge (and im not a plus size, not even close). PR needs a reality check in a lot of areas, judging by the posts and i agree with most. nina needs to change her medication and heidi needs to go get a 4 year degree in fashion design. see ya next week kiddies.

And you've been here all of what three months before me? Wow! I guess that makes you an elder on this board. Let me tell you something, I've been involved and indulged in the fashion industry probably since you were a baby milking your mother’s tit. I've worked at one of the top fashion houses in New York with haute couture. So forgive me if I think my expertise warrants my opinion even though I haven't been on this site very long with you wholesale bargain basement shoppers.

Your comments are unwarrented. Since you refer to your experience in the fashion industry in the past tense, one assumes you were fired for your attitude.

The one thing I didn't comment on before was this phrase "since you were a baby milking your mother's tit." That, to me, is a very hostile and sexist way of putting down a woman and undercutting her professionalism and her value as a human being. It's just an indirect way of crudely saying that she is just a pair of [censored] and has no brains. It's completely offensive and demeaning to women.

I also think that that crude reference is the subconscious reason why everybody reacted so strongly to this post.

Of course, the devil in me can't help trying to think up a reply that would stop such a person right in his tracks. Hmm, let's see. There has to be some high-road, classy way of simultaneously defusing and putting such a jerk in his place.

Hmmmmm.....

Hmmmmm....

Nope, can't do it. The only thing that comes to mind is "I was bottle-fed."

PR has lost all credibility. It is obvious to me now that they do not keep people on the show based on talent. They keep them on the show for ratings. Vincent is a total nut and a weak designer. Clearly this is not a fair competition for the contestants but a reality entertainment show based on personalities.
Linwithane
I think that Heidi said "every day woman" - maybe that means someone that people would see everyday - like the new Today host - Meredith Viera? I hope it's someone like Emme (someone with an average woman's shape. However, they designs would still be shown by the same reed-thin models.

I like Laura too. Although I'm older than her, I taken a bit of her advice to heart. In the Road to Runway, she said that she never dresses down: it was a slippery slope ... the next thing you know, you're wearing sweatpants driving a mini-van.

I took a look at myself - wearing my husband's sweatpants & t-shirt. Extra pounds and two kids made it easy to stop trying ... got my hair and nails done the next day. Working on tossing the stretch pants.

(Must say that I don't have anything against mini-vans though)

Good for you! I, too, think "WWLD" (what would Laura do?) when I want to pull on my old sweatpants and not put makeup on before I run out to the grocery. I just hope I will keep it up.

I also agreed about the slippery slope we mothers transverse but I do think it would be nice if Laura could get herself some more clothes. I have seen that same black way too plunging dress for just about every runway and the riding outfit too. I thought she was going to pop a boob when she was arguing with Vincent.

Perhaps something to do with Martha Stewart's Every Day whatever it is line? Perhaps designing some ordinary office attire, with Martha as the guest judge?
Flgirl
I think Heidi is just jealous of Alison!
Alison is really pretty and extremely talented. Every outfit she has designed has been way cooler and more modern than anything I've seen on Heidi, and Alison styles herself way better than Heidi does. It was literally inspiring for me to see Alison's talent on the past shows and it's a shame she didn't make it to the last three.

What really bothered me was the hostility the judges showed toward Alison. They seemed to be attacking HER rather than her garment. They came off as meanspirited bitches (Kors included) intent on bringing down a young, pretty, and talented designer.

Worst of all, they voted her off because she made her model look bigger than she actually was -- a cardinal offense apparently. Making someone look fat (their words, not mine) trumps high school drama-class costume design. Alison's design didn't wow me, but it was certainly better made and prettier than what Vincent threw up.

I used to watch Project Runway because it had a semblance of integrity . . . not sure what I think after tonight. Even Tim is aghast.

There is a lot we aren't seeing. The show is edited for entertainment content and not artistic content (on the part of the designers). The producers may not have much to say about the voting, but they HAVE A LOT TO SAY about the entertainment portion and they do it the way they want it.

Vincents listens to and marches to his own drummer-I don't really see him seriously paying attention to the judges' or Tim's comments
Fawkes
I have read Tims Take and listened to his Podcasts religiously. I think Tim dislikes Vincent almost as much as I do. Did anyone else want to vomit when he told the Judges that it turned him on? I don't know about him but it was the biggest turn off I've seen in quite some time. I'm convinced that he's insane and the judges were, as Kayne hoped, smoking crack before the Runway show. Vincent should have been gone ages ago! Alison had obvious talent and I was definately a fan of hers. And by the way, it was not her fault that she had a plus sized model! Hey Heidi, show some class and not call the girl fat to her face!

I have to agree, it seems she was treated unfairly because she is a female designer and therefore should know how to fit a female body. I guess if you are a male designer you aren't held to the same standards. Those judges couldn't possibly think that Vincents dress fit his model. It was originally a strapless dress and it looks as though she had to wear her own bra to keep the dress up.

1. I think they are allowed to bring what clothes they need when they first come into Atlas and that is it, no further forays into the real world. Laura may not have anticipated she would last as long as she has!

2. In New York City, people walk. Knowing Laura's social position, they probably also have a car service if their destination is too far to walk.

3. This also brings to mind a thought: in Manhatten there are very few overweight people. They walk everywhere all the time!

I don't know what happened to my reply to this so I will try again.

It seems that Allison got treated differently because she is a woman and therefore should "understand" a womans body. Apparently Vincent is not held to this standard. There is no way the judges could have thought that his garment fit. And wansn't it originally a strapless gown? Was the model wearing a bra?
actor59
New here but I still wanted to post. I think Alison was robbed but I can't agree with all the Vincent bashing. I'm an old fart and when I saw what Vincent was trying to achieve during the building of his dress I kept thinking modern art! I know alot of people on this board are outraged that he was not aufed, But Kayne really missed the boat and despite the fact he has done some great work in the past should not of been given a gimme. But that is my stupid opinion. But another poster said go back and look at the pics on Tim's take I know he was upset Vincent was still on but just look at the style in Vincents Mind was that he created. I'm sorry but it looked like Modern Art from the 60's. Yes it would of moved better if he had made a mini dress and flowed better on the runway, I think everyone would have said very Wharhaul (sp)days in early New York.

I think Jeffery should have won the challenge IMO.

Laura is from New Orleans originaly so I guess you can move the woman from N.O. but you can't take the N.O. out of the woman. LOL I know many women like her here.

I have been watching this show since day one of the first season. I love reading these boareds you crack me up.
pianoforte
C'mon! Is it such an unforgiveable offense making an already thin model look a little bigger?? Bottom line, neither Vincent or Allison's pieces fit their models well. But Vincent was REWARDED for erring on the side of stiff, restrictive, falling apart, and unwalkable. And Allison was PUNISHED.

The judges didn't use objective words like "untailored" or "slightly roomy" or "too square". The insult is because their first words were "big", "plus-size", "shocked that a woman designer...", "unflattering".
And before Allison even finished her piece Tim commented on her model being "a little big". So the plus-size talk was there from the beginning.
NEXT WEEK THE DESIGNERS should design totally oversized dresses in protest of the judges lapse in class!
pj_runaway

I was waiting for these comments!! Boy, do we need some comic relief tonight!! Let's talk boobies!

There are no boobies to reference to. Just rib cage under a plaster white sheet.

I actually told my under-developed thirteen year old that I think her breasts are larger than Laura's (forgive me, kid)...

...BUT I'd just like to say that having a figure like Laura's AFTER bearing five children is quite an achievement. Unless, of course, she's just one of those freaks of nature that are metabolically incapable of accumulating body fat, in which case we'll just have to hate her on principle.
Jeden14
I join with the rest of you in my total disgust with the show last night and Alison's premature dismissal and Vincent's continued presence despite never turning out anything that anyone would want to wear. She makes one mistake and she is out and he gets to be in the bottom three, actually, most of the time in the bottom two, and he is given chance after chance. If they really believe that Vincent has what it takes to be America's next top designer, than I must not get American fashion at all.

And Heidi calling Alison's model plus-sized? What was that about? What is our criteria for plus-sized these days? I was of the opinion that it was a person who was over a size 14, not size 0. Heidi's comments (and Tim Gunn's on his blog) were way out of line. Is it wrong that someone look like they have actually eaten something in the past month? Is anyone over a size 0 now considered fat and ugly and unworthy of nice clothes? Thank goodness the fashion world extends beyond the narrow view of beauty that these "judges" possess. And I am also glad that there are designers that continue to make beautiful clothing for the 60% or so of the American population that are over a size 10 and do not listen to self appointed icon's of American Fashion.

By the way, this might be the first time that I actually felt a little sorry for Jeffrey. I am so happy that Michael won and is finally getting the recognition he should have since the gorgeous coffee filter dress he made in the first episode, but I thought that Jeffrey's dress was just a little more interesting than Michael's. But Jeffrey's continued bad mouthing of his fellow contestants and his insistance that he is the only one that knows anything about everything quickly pushed the slight amount of sympathy that I had for him right out of me. I wish that he would just focus his energies into his own fashions and stop with the I am the only talent in the world attitude. Who knows? Maybe he might even win one.

Ok. I know Laura has ONE actual boobie cuz I just saw it popping out while she berated Vincent about his model not walking. WHY is she such a b****? She is like a dog with a bone who just will NOT let things go. Loved the remark that her dress was something she would wear. Uh, duh. ALL her dresses look the same and are something she would wear. Slashed to the waist empire style I AM AN ARCHITECT plain. We get it. Move on. Stop building A frames and branch out a bit. Maybe a little duplex next time.

Jeffrey. Talent but oh my. Is he always that nasty? He does not have one single nice thing to say about ANYBODY ever. As I watch him week after week making his nasty snide remarks about everyone else I think: Who in the business will ever really want to work with someone like that? Does he not get fashion is a business and making nice, the old iron fist in a velvet glove, will get you further. Just a nasty piece of work. Must be very insecure to be so mean. Probaly the old big neck small penis syndrome.

Michael is in a groove. Flew under the radar early. But consistently talented wonderful outfits. He glides above the storm clouds. He knows how to play nice in the sandbox while Laura and Jeffrey are wacking it out. And I just know he is nice to his Mom.

Kayne and Robert are the cutest couple and need to set up their own Barbie Pagent/Wedding shop thing going. They would be the perfect next Bagdley Mischca.

Angela shut up. You are too old to be dressing like you are in high school and your vocal enthusiasm everytime and OMG faces at each challenge are wearing thin. Gosh golly gee. Unless the next challenge is the angel Gabriel announcing it is to dress the VIrgin Mary in new Annuciation gowns nothing calls for that face at the reveal.

Allison was vanilla. Sweet but no mocha almond coffee. Yes she will be designing stuff with cute matching headbands somewhere else. But you will not be missing her at the end.

Vincent is crazy like a fox. We have all talked about how he seems on the edge of a breakdown. But he is just a menopausal guy with that little fidget going. His meds are working fine and I think we will not see the meltdown we are all expecting. I think he is guy who is giving it one last shot but is missing his kids. He would work better if towards the end of the challenge the door opened and his family piled in and brought wine and mucnhies and "oh gosh dad that is cool" and he could talk and laugh. I think he is probably fun at dinner. And unlike Laura would not shoot you when you did NOT eat the vegetables SHE chose for you.

I think Laura is having her 6th baby to replace the others she left out for the wolves when they did not adhere to her strict standards.

And just WHO do we think this is referring to? Guess anyone? This is a blind item from Ben Widdicombe's gossip coloumn in the NY Daily News this Tuesday.

"Which fashionable reality-show contestant recently made it with that closeted actor who has very specific oral specifications ?"

And to all you people threatening boycotts/writing letters of protest/dropping their jaws and wine/see the end of civilization as we know it:
IT"S A TV SHOW! Breathe deeply, go outside, talk to some real people and get a grip.

I am also another loyal viewer they lost. Allison has such an amazing talent, and I can't believe she left and Vincent got to stay. I just don't get it. Her dress wasn't the best, but it looked better than Vincent and Kayne's high school looking projects. I know a lot of people who were upset by Allison leaving and won't be watching anymore. I also think Jeffrey got robbed. HIs design actually looked like clothing...unlike Michael's plastic bag wrap. The judges seriously had a relapse this episode, and unfortunately, I think they will lose viewers because of it.

How about if they had to pick a mother out of the velvet bag? Then maybe Angela could make Vincents mother a nifty bubble skirt for Pattycakes birthday party.

oh PUHLEEZ! I usually don't take the time to comment on these sorts of things, but had to share my thoughts this time with the judges/producers of the show, for what it's worth...

Overall, you have got to be kidding me that you would keep Vincent in the running?!?!?! Bless his heart, but there is NO talent there. Alison has proven herself over and over to be a particularly talented designer and stylist. Frankly, all that's going to matter is that Alison makes great clothes with fabrics. Who the hell cares that she had trouble fudging something together from a pile of trash?!?!? Give me a break. I have no doubt Alison will find success designing great clothes.

So disappointed in all of you, judges. We depend as much on you, as we do the designers to fulfill your own obligations and maintain a level of integrity, professionalism, "innovation", creativity and vision worthy of your "stature" in the biz.

Heidi, doll, I respect you for prevailing in one of the lowest of the low industries, maintaining the highest level of integrity for who you are and for fostering a beautiful family life, BUT shame on you for stooping to the low of even remotely suggesting that an amazon rail-of-a-girl could appear as "plus-sized". While Alison's outfit wasn't flattering, it's unecessary to even suggest what you did. Think before you speak.

Producers, bad form not to edit out Heidi's ridiculous comment.

Michael, while I have total respect for you as a designer, your commentary is simply uninspiring.

Nina, it's difficult to find anything original or constructive in your commentary. Blah blah blah...but you sure have mastered the tasks of whining, complaining, and criticizing! It's always interesting to me how some people find their way into their lofty positions without ever showing any actual talent themselves. Hmmmmm...?

And Rachel Zoe...painful.

Tim, LOVE YOU! Admire you're ability to find the redeeming qualities in the designs while offering constructive advice/encouragement.

I have to tell you that I would love to take a journey down that slippery slope sometimes. When you work in a profession where you are dressed 7 days a week almost it gets old. I harldy have any casual clothes because there are so few occasions for me to wear them.
When we went to a football game with our son a few years ago I had to go buy jeans and a top so I did not look like somthing from outer space walking into the stadium. Had to buy tennis shoes also.

I have worn heels for so many years that my feet are ruined I am sure lol.

If I just had half the money I have spent on panty hose and suits I could retire and never work again. Unfortunately I have about 17 more years of work before I can retire. Trust me, the day I retire, I am going shopping to buy comfortable shoes and clothes. Maybe by then I will have grandchildren and can buy a mini van also!

She may not want to slide down the slippery slope but on the bad days when I finally come home so tired I can't see straight that slope looks very inviting lol.

I've never posted on a message board before, but I just had to say how disappointed and shocked I am that Allison was auf'd in this episode. I was even expecting her to make it to the final four.

I'm an art student and have been a loyal PR fan since the first episode of the first season. Until this episode aired, I had never felt that the judges had kept someone on the show solely to create drama. I could always see and understand their reasons for eliminating who they did, even if a designer I liked was the target.

But after this, I'm dumbfounded. It was as if the judges had completely forgotten what Allison had created in previous challenges. I thought the comments about her designs not being conscious of the female form were unjustified. Her work has been interesting and beautiful from the start. Whereas Vincent, and correct me if I'm wrong, has been in the bottom three nearly every week. Do the judges not take a designer's track record into consideration when making their decision?

And Heidi's comment about Vincent pushing the envelope? I felt like my intelligence was being insulted by that statement, and I'm certain I'm not the only viewer that felt that way. That's the best reason they could come up with for keeping him on the show? It was absurd. Maybe he is pushing the envelope, but into a bizarre 80's time warp where women wear baskets on their heads. And frankly, that's not something I'm interested in seeing.

It really makes me wonder what all was edited out that we didn't get to hear. After this whole charade, I've lost a little faith in the integrity of this show.

Nasty or not, Jeffrey's dress was far superior to Michael's. I like Michael and his work is consistently good but I don't think his clear plastic stole ensemble was more innovative or creative than Jeffrey's tinted newspaper creation.

The clear plastic stole had a classic sillouette. Michael made a truly stunnig gown and stole (even if the stole was made out of cheezy plastic) and the judges responded to the elegance.

Another newbie compelled to remark on last night's episode.

First, I don't care or know that much about high fashion. Nor would I pay "designer" prices. (Macy's is selling Angela's little cropped jacket for $129.00... give me a break! )
I know what I like and what suits me... it's probably like art... not everything is everyone else's cup of tea.

I watch Project Runway for the interaction between the designers and how they channel their creativity. I don't watch it for fashion tips or trends or to learn about design.

However, it is a mystery why a designer who has been consistently good and ranked well with the judges should be cast aside for one "bad" design in favor of a designer who consistently ranks poor.

I like Allison. I don't like Vincent, in spite of the fact that he makes good TV. I expect him to go postal at any moment.

As for Laura vs. the other bitches (eg. Kayne and Robert and Jeffry)...I say give them hell, girlfriend.
