Wow now I am 155 pounds at 5'6" and I can only get into a 12 - 16 depending on the garment. I carry a lot of my weight in my chest area and a lot of designers don't allow extra room there so that does not help. It's great that you fit into an 8. I would have to get down to 135 to do that and even then I may only be in 10 - 12.

Remember, there is heavy editing in what we see.
FINALLY, SOMEONE GETS IT ABOUT THE EDITING.
But, as far as Jeff is concerned, didn't anyone ever tell him to respect his elders. There is a way he could have gotten around her criticism without acting like an unruly child. It was disrespectful and not adult.
I believe in respecting your elders when they are deserving of respect. She trashed Jeff to everyone BUT Jeff and that proves she isn't worthy of respect. She was sneaky, snide and rude. I thoroughly agree with the way Jeff treated her after.
I've gotta tell you if someone [expletive deleted] slaps me I'm not going to kiss their ass just because they were born before me and if I'm an [censored] to someone younger than me I thoroughly expect them to call me on it. Age doesn't always give you wisdom or tact.
Perception is amazing. It goes to show how people can see every angle of a situation. I agree to disagree with you. That's how you saw it. I do agree about the age thing, but usually elders aren't sneaky or snide or underhanded. Tim asked and she told how she felt. I didn't see her going behind Jeff's back. And she told her daughter. HER DAUGHTER, who else will you tell.
But as I said, we all see something abstract and come away with different views.
Darlene didn't have to tell her daughter, anyone within earshot of Jeff and Darlene heard the whole exchange. You saw Laura and Jeff's mom looking at Jeff and Darlene during this exchange. They clearly heard it. You saw Angela trying to listen as well, but she was a bit farther away. But, all in the workroom were probably aware there was something going on.

Having been an editorin television, I actually believe it's not how it happened the way you saw it on TV. I saw editing that made me think that it was compiled from several other situations. A trick to see if it's true...look in the background of the priciple players and look for continuity

Holy cow!! Six hundred a month just seems outrageous!! I know it's not a choice you can make to go without, but isn't there any kind of assistance you can apply for??
Isn't it unbelievable? I get about 8 prescriptions a month and if I didn't have an awesome prescription plan I would be up the creek. I can't imagine how people without insurance manage to eat, pay for housing AND afford their medication.
I have several Canadian friends and they really have it together. Socialized medication is truly the humane way to run a country! My friend, Steve, went to the hospital and when I asked him how much it set him back he was like "cost? I paid for nothing." Too cool.

For those of you who say that Jefferey is a designer and that Angela's mom was the difficult one... I ask "what are you smoking?" The fact of the matter is that FASHION is a business...yes, it's art too...but if you make crap, how do you expect to sell it? Now as far as how he treated Angela's mom...he was sooo way out of line! If she had been Madonna, would he have spoken to her that way? Uh no. And I just cannot believe that Jeffery's mother was making excuses for him. How wacked is that? If I was Angela's mother, I would have told him where to go and how to get there! I would also not show up for the runway. that would have really screwed him.
And what positive things did Darlene bring to the table? What did she tell Jeff about what she wanted? A jacket? No can do in a day. Joker colors? Doesn't quite work. I didn't see her give any other information to help him.
I agree, I just watched the bonus footage, Darlene was very sensitive. I liked Kayne's Mom's attitude when asked by Tim, she stated that she was happy and Uli was the designer, not her. Jeffrey and Angela's Mom were a disastrous combination. I do think the blue was the correct color choice to compliment her coloring. Uli's design was showed her consideration of Kayne's Mom's proportions and Kayne's Mom seemed to have the best attitude. According to Laura, Angela's Mom and her own Mom did not know they were going to model. What is up with that?
I wonder if this is one of the episodes that a major sponsor backed out of and they had to come up with something on the fly.
How do you see the bonus video?

Uli deserved to win this one. I thought her outfit looked great, especially the colors and -- again -- her mix of patterns. I was so impressed with how good the colors looked on her model -- perfect!
I used to have a dress like the one Vincent made I bought at the thrift store five or six years ago. It was from the Kathie Lee collection for Walmart, only the accents were in white. So it wasn't creative. Nor did it fit well, which made it unflattering. It was too tight in the stomach so it accentuated her belly. Also, I don't think older ladies need to be wearing sleeveless things (unless you have arms like Madonna). PLUS, how was it an "every day" outfit? Didn't it have a rhinestone buckle or somesuch nonsense on the waist? It looked more like cruisewear than Laura's outfit (to me, anyway).
And poor Robert. I will miss his greatly. Just last night I got my fall catalog from Barbie Collectibles and his designs there are definitely the "best"! In fact, Mattel's capitalizing on his time in the limelight by featuring his designs under the heading of "Best" designs, and offering a discount if you buy two or more of his dolls. Check them out at barbiecollector.com. I wish him every happiness and much success. He seems like a wonderful person and a talented designer.
I have a # 2 Original Barbie with a few of her clothes
I am sooooo jealous. I have a #4 or 5 (they are so close together) and the original house and a few clothes. I had the Theatre Date outfit (including gloves & hat & shoes) but stupidly I put it in the washer and it kinda fell apart.
I love Robert's Barbie designs and was so excited to see him there. I was disappointed that after the first challenge that he sort of fell apart. I loved the Kayne & Robert show, too. The bonus video was hilarious. Poor Kayne couldn't catch his breath.

You're certainly entitled to your own opinion, but what I gather from reading your rant is that you have not had enough experience being an adult to understand all that you complain about.
Laura is comfortable with her body, and obviously has accepted her lack of chest. Not everyone has been blessed with B or more sized breasts.
If you had any children, you would realize how much time and effort one takes, let alone five. I know I wouldn't have time enough left for animals if I had five children...she has enough to take care of. Not everyone are animal lovers, and that's okay. What would the world be like if everyone was alike? Boring - that's what.

He then accused me of being rude to him and implied that I should kiss his ass because he was 40 years older than me and he had earned respect. I felt I didn't owe him a damn thing and let him know it. Since then I think age doesn't have a thing to do with respect. If you give kindness and respect you'll get it in return.

As a first timer at this I am just glomming on...I was so excited about this week's show as I had a hunch it would be about designing for full-figured women, something that has been ignored way too long in the fashion industry....then I watched the program...what a disapointment...after watching every show from day one of PR1, I almost turned off the TV as soon as I saw the "models" walk out on the runway.
This was the most unfair challenge I have every seen, and IMO ALL OF THE CONTESTANTS DID A TERRIBLE JOB. The designs for the smaller size models (who were not your "Everyday Woman") would in no way be appropriate for the full figured models. We larger ladies are sick and tired of seeing tents, long dresses that look like nightgowns on us, never wear sleeveless anything, black, black, black, fitted waists with belts to boot, etc. If these designers are so talented, why didn't we see any princess seaming, ruching around the waist (yes, we either do have a waist or can be made to appear that we have a waist with GOOD DESIGN!), empire waists, etc, etc. I just watched a BBC episode of What Not To Wear, and Trinny and Susannah made a size 18 woman look beautiful and really hot. It can be done!
I am very tired of watching the Jeff and Angela Show, and wish they would both grow up and act like adults. The outfit Jeff made for Darlene looked like a Nun and an Amish woman had a collision and morphed into one woman. He should have been Auf'd for that embarrassing monstrosity he made. Kudos to Darlene for even walking down the runway in it, and bless her heart she even put a smile on her face!!
The judging has been all over the place, and although I feel Michael is very talented and that Jeff should stick to his Courtney Love Style clients, Jeff's dress on the trash into clothing episode should have won. It brings to my mind an episode last season where Santino designed lingerie that made his models look as if they should be carrying beer steins in a Hooters in Germany but the designer who got kicked off for being "Boring" had his models in 3 black lace teddies that every young woman I asked said that she would actually wear!!
I realize that it is all about THE RATINGS, but if these judges keep going this way the people who watch this program because they appreciate the wonderful talent these designers possess and want to see them made beautiful clothes that are actually wearable will no longer be tuning in.
There are too many "unscripted" reality shows to choose from. I thought this one was different, but I was obviously wrong. As far as I can see, the only class on this show anymore is Tim Gunn.
To all you Darlene bashers out there and all you instant amateur doctors with your passive/agressive diagnosis of her, please remember that this is a middle aged Mom from a small town in Ohio who was suddenly flown to the Big Apple to be on a national TV show and then confronted and insulted by a very sick man and made to wear a fright constume down a runway in front of the world. I think that she handled all that very well. And for the posting that said she had to get used to the "Real World", as a resident of Northern Ohio myself, and having spent time in New York and LA, let me just tell you that this IS the real world, not the fairy tale cities you live in.
I will go now to mourn the passing of a show that had great potential but blew it for the ratings. If you get that Emmy, enjoy it, because it will probably be your last one. You are no longer any better that any other reality show out there.
So sad, but true.
Good Luck to Michael and Uli. They are models of good behavior and good designers as will.
Thank you all for letting me get this off my chest...I will sleep better tonight.

You have GOT to be kidding me. A sensitive 'artiste'? Why would you even attempt to defend his behavior with that pathetic excuse? I myself am an artist and I find it insulting that you would insinuate that artists treat "normal" people differently. "Normal" people are the ones who PAY for the creative skills that we have. Angela's mom was only doing what the challenge called for which was to tell him what she wanted in an outfit. Hence the title "EVERY DAY WOMAN". In "real life" no matter who you are dealing with you show them the respect that you would want them to show you. If he is such a sensitive prima donna maybe he should go back to these wonderful clients who give him all the leeway in the world. If you're getting paid for your talent you have to realize that you have to deal with ALL kinds of clients - some of them MUCH more agressive than Angela's mother. Where is this man's personal integrity? His creativity is being overshadowed by his bad attitude and utter lack of grace.

Great post! Agreed, I hated Santino at the beginning of last season, but I totally loved him in the end. Just the opposite of what the producers wanted! So they quickly had to make Daniel V's collection and his purses the drama du jour.
I think we could both win that cynical poster award. I have been able to predict the auf pattern for several weeks now.
I can see why people thought Santino was entertaining in season II, but he and the judges were deluding themselves the entire season!! He made 2 decent outfits while the rest of the stuff was falling apart trashy!! He moved the drama; that's all!! It was unbelieveable how great he thought he was up to the last!! Even though I didn't care for her, more than likely they would have gotten more out of Kara who might have gone to the pattern dresses she said she was good at!! She might have surprised them all if she had been given more time and encouragement!!

I sympathize with you and the cost of the medication. I pay close to a $150 a month in co-pays thank God for the insurance. Co-pays that are $3 for generics and $9 for brand names. Having investigated all aid type programs for some reason everyone believes if you make or are above a certain monthly income amount you do not need assistance, somewhere they forget you have to live somewhere, pay for food, clothes and other necesities. You might try this.. Write the different drug companies and tell them the medications your husband is taking and what your medical expenses are plus your costs in medicine. I know this is touchy but include your Federal Income Tax if it will help you. Give them as much of a complete financial picture as you can. Get a copy of all the medication prescriptions too and send a copy of each to the drug companies . In other words document everything you say about costs and finances. The drug company will request a prescription for the drug they are supplying so have your doctor either fax it to them or send it along at the appropriate time. A friend of mine did this and the drug companies sent her medications for free. The government helps too but you have to be below the poverty level. She was way over their usual financial cut off but the composite picture of what she was taking and paying got her the drugs for free. The drug companies are not that difficult to deal with if you present a complete picture. They know that brand names and generics are expensive for people and they can help. Also face the facts it is a tax write-off for them. I live in a state where the government seems to have things a little mixed up in who they should be helping financially. I better not get into this, it is way too bizarre to believe.

As a forty-six-year-old woman who wears a size sixteen, I have to say that I found Jeffrey's design insulting, and, in my opinion, that's why Angela's mom was so upset. His attitude basically was, "You're an old, fat woman, and I'm going to dress you like one." Vincent, on the other hand, repeatedly tried to make Uli's mom feel comfortable and special, even telling the hair and makeup people that he wanted Uli's mom to feel beautiful. He GOT it! And Uli's mom walked the runway with a smile on her face, standing tall, and feeling beautiful. Interestingly, Vincent is closer to these women's ages, and I think he understood the mentality because he is. Perhaps, what last night's show demonstrated was that Vincent has found his market. He knows how to reach the middle-aged woman, and we are a HUGE market. I would love to have someone that sensitive to what makes me feel comfortable designing for me.

I heard in, I think minnesota, the governor is trying to get a proper medical system like in Canada. i can't see why the whole country can't do that, especially the higher populated ones. (

Just my two cents on the prescription thing... I have a LOT of prescriptions... When you establish yourself with the new Dr.'s, let them know that the cost of the prescription is unaffordable. My doctor has been amazingly helpful in providing physician samples to offset my costs, and on some meds, he has been able to provide me with specific contacts at the drug company who seem to have the ability to cut through red tape like it's butter. Also talk with your pharmacist. There is help out there, believe me. You might also try www.canadadrug.com.
