My advice is to gas up the car now, get some cash out of the ATM, and watch the Weather Channel. It'll take a while to get off Sanibel Island and back onto I75 (if there is a traffic jam).
The problem, of course, is that the hurricane could change course, in which case you'll have ruined your vacation for nothing. But, trust me, it's no fun to live in Florida without power for days on end.
And, as an almost lifetime Floridian, I used to take hurricanes for granted. Not anymore. Not since Andrew, in '92.

WOW!!!! I would never have gotten that from the show I've seen. I must have been watching something else or maybe I was concentrating on something else.
IMHO, anyone who defends Jeffrey probably has his same personality. That's fine. I'm going to try and not post on this subject again, but it just hurts me that if my mother had to go through that, I don't know how I would react.
And, a lot of people need to read the Psychiatry Handbook (I'm drawing a blank on the professional name of it) and find out the real definition of Passive/Aggressive and not throw it around so casually.
Tim said in his podcast the relationship had trouble from the start. Why would that be? His refusal on the jacket? What else? He didn't entirely blame Jeffrey for what happened whereas he has been vocal in his criticism of Vincent, so I don't think he was just being circumspect.

Actually I did post that the producers owe an apology to all of the moms and sisters, because very few were given flattering outfits, and I wrote an email to Bravo suggesting a public apology. This whole episode was really tainted.
I am bothered by all of the blame on Angela's Mom, especially by the posters who insist that she shouldn't have cried, shouldn't have expressed her hurt feelings. If it is indeed true that the moms and sisters had no idea they were going to be used as models, then they were all good sports to participate. I'm sure that Darlene was excited at first, and wanted to be a good sport. I watched the show again, a painful thing( don't want to ever see it again), and I still saw nothing to tell me that Darlene and Angela were out to destroy Jeffrey. She came with high hopes and left completely crushed. Yes it is true that the producers chose to show the footage of her crying, but where could she go to escape? the cameras are everywhere. Do you think she wanted to be humiliated on National TV?
As for the idea that she shouldn't have told the truth to Tim or on the runway, who can forget that last season Santino made a horrible outfit for Kara that was falling apart. She kept quiet, and the show would have been better served had she told the truth. Actually I think the judges were pretty dumb not to notice the awful construction. That is when Santino should have gone. Of course we know that the producers wanted him kept around for drama.
An interview with Angela's mom is on the Blogging PR board. She says she doesn't fly and asked them if she could take the train. They said "No, it's the plane or nothing". She flew. For the first time in her life. She was, probably, already drained from nerves.
That's a good point and it can explain why she seemed a bit "off" I guess. Vincent seemed to say in episode 1 that you get off the plane, get to the production and boom it starts. That could have been the experience of a lot of the guests for the week who were from far away. Thanks for sharing that. It explains what I thought was a fragility on her part that came across as manipulative.

I will take 10 minutes.
As for the timing, this is the same problem I have on Wed night for PR. I stay off the board until I see the show, then by the time it ends here, you all are up to 30+ pages. LOL
I only watched part of the pre-show myself, but did anyone have an opinion on fashions? This was my take..
I did watch a bit of the pre-Emmy show, but didn't see Tim Gunn. Heidi looked beautiful in the red dress. I wonder who made it and if it was an insult or a tribute to Jay's rejected red dress, or neither. Seal was great.
I thought many of the gowns were trashy, but Kyra Sedgewick was way overdressed in couture, but beautiful. When does the average person ever get to see such clothing worn?
Most of the celebrities were mysteries to me. I think the blonde lady, Katherine something in the favourite dress of the stylists was too sheer and desperado looking.. like cast me! cast me! I have boobs! And those boobs were sweating into the dress it looked like. One lady in a pastel print looked like she raided her mother's closet. And there was a lady in a tan bow front gown that looked all washed out even with big diamonds.
Also, one lady a Julia something wore a black and white dress that hoisted her bust on some kind of fabric sling.. unattractive. One anorexic looking younger woman Ellen something was wearing a heavy purple Galiano and looked
horrible. A Virginia something was in a H0 gown for sure! One woman, Kim something wore a very plunging yellow chiffony thing that looked cute, but her face looked drawn and her hair looked like it had been shellacked. One woman was wearing a very bright South American looking dress, but her hair was in frizzy ringlets and long like a bad Cher'do. One younger woman would have looked nice in a vintage silver and gold gown, but her hair was hanging straight
down (hippy style) and not quite obscuring the ugliest and biggest earrings. I think she was trying to do "silver and gold" but she was too fair to pull it off.
Besides Heidi's red dress, was a more modest red silk and satin dress someone's wife was wearing that was also beautiful. Tyra Banks looked awful in some dark slinky thing. And Debra Messing[sp] in white tiers looked horrible also. Figures!
But a Sarah something wore a beautiful white lacy vintage gown! Sandra Oh looked great in a ruched purple gown. One of my favorite gowns was worn by a Portia, but was inexplicably panned like Kyra Sedgewick's... too fancy? Most of the worst dressed women just wore trashy sheer stuff.
The men looked good who wore ties. Others looked desperado. And I usually don't say that. Some men can pull the open shirt look off. These dweebs could not IMO. Love the dove grey ties with tuxes.. almost silver?
Is it true that that Ryan guy has it in his contract that he has to appear taller than his female co-hosts? Thats what someone said on teevee.. pathetic. I'm only 5'8" but I'd be more embarrassed to have that written somewhere, than to appear shorter than a woman.
So what did you think?

Just because someone is a mother doesn't make them a saint. I've known woman with children who are monsters. She didn't make things easy for Jeff at all. By the way Jeff's mom seemed to be proud as can be by her son and she should be.
The man is a recovering drug addict and alcoholic who was living on the street when he turned his life around. He's now clean, sober and has a thriving business. Do you have any f*cking idea how hard that is? When my first hubby died I spun down that road and it almost killed me. As a recent poster, I have not read the thousands of posts so...please excuse any duplicate comments. Has anyone questioned production on this task yet? Why did you introduce another possibility of sabotage by giving them another designer’s relative? Why didn't you just have them
dress their own? It would've illuminated the human aspect that would undoubtedly enter. There seems to be some very poor decisions made to favor the sensational or possibility of the sensational. I would prefer seeing this show take the higher ground and actually entertain AND educate. Most of us began watching hoping for both. There is a massive, grass roots movement in design and construction of children's/teen and young women’s clothing over the last 6-8 years through EBay. Many of us have no formal education in THIS area (like Angela and Laura) but have been sewing for decades. There seems to be a distinct favoritism towards 'trained' designers. Why aren't they permitted to bring their own equipment? There is a big, immediate, disadvantage for someone not trained on the instrumentation (machinery if you prefer) and yet you make a big deal out the rules and Keith's breaking of them. If you want things truly on level playing ground, they each should be able to bring the tools of their craft including machines and their own models. You have to remove as many criteria as possible to form that level playing ground. The problem is the prejudices that exist among those making the rules and determining the tasks. The only group tasks should involve ALL members of the group being ousted not just the possibility of one. And nobody should be immune for group tasks. Talk about opening the door to sabotage. Please stop going for the sensational and make this a more realistic and fare competition. I'm not sure I'll continue watching at this rate. I want something more mature in nature and educational. Example, show how one designer's construction is done right while another is done wrong....up close and revealing. And....if construction is essential....illuminate those who can't ‘do’ right off at the beginning. I have had my garments gone over with a fine tooth comb for a simple blue ribbon for 4-H at local fairs. This is for a major competition, large amounts of money and a permanent change of life. Far more then a blue ribbon and yet rules are stricter and more finite. It's almost laughable the terribly poor construction seen on this show. Professionals???? This program needs some legitimacy besides the famous names. Too many of us know better then to consider what we are looking at as truly professional work.
Amen to that!

I really like Kara's PR collection. In fact, I wish we'd seen that instead of Chloe's "Brass Plum" show. I was really disapointed in Chloe's shiny, matchy-matchy fabric choices. AND, seeing the great things Kara did makes me even madder that Kara wasn't in the real final three. I was always irritated by the fact that Chloe announced that she didn't really want it, anyway, and then took up someone else's spotlight. Poor Kara.
Did they have Kara do a mock-collection in case someone dropped out or couldn't show? Knowing this helps explain why Chloe didn't pick Kara as her sewing slave for the 13th look. I always thought that was a little odd, and the producers/show never mentioned it.
If that is the case, how do you think Kara orchestrated her 13th look? I mean, if she was really playing along, wouldn't she have had to do a last minute look, too?
I liked Chloe's collection, but I do think that Daniel was robbed. I think the choice came down to maturity and the fact that Chloe already had her own shop. Too bad Daniel was unable to work with Michael Kors. That offer gave me hope at the end.

32 production days. Any more days = more production costs = less profit for producers = not going to happen.
Well than maybe less challenges, more people kicked off during group challenges, and more complex challenges...I don't know. I get the whole money makes the world go round thing...but one has to hope for integrity...
Well we can wish for integrity, but I think PR has totally lost any hope for that. Look for more snarky drama in the future. And if the show isn't about finding the best designer, then what's the point?

Two was when he talked about dumpster diving. Back in the bad old days of punk rock my friends and I used to dumpster dive behind some of the city's best fashion houses and then make haute punk couture from what we found. There's nothing like an expesive Armani coat that is ripped apart and then reconstructed with safety pins and the like. We looked fabulous!
DCJB, I have been reading your posts for a while now and I think you may be my musical soul mate. Funkadelic and punk, Wow! If you like opera too, I think I might love you, LOL. In a platonic way of course.I was a punk in L.A. in the late 70's, early 80's. Hung around The Germs, Black Flag, X, Fear, etc. I see you have your email posted, could I send you a Bizarro cartoon I think you would like? I wish I could post more here, but I have an ancient computer that freezes up almost every time I do. But, I read you all and enjoy. It's frustrating when I want to jump in and can't. Oh well.
Then you love me. I love you. We're in love.
My dad was a serious opera fan and he passed it on to me. I've never understood how rock people can say they don't like opera. I think it lends itself to the theatricality and emotions of great rock. I've spent so many evenings at the opera and I'm so glad that my dad passed his love for it to me. Now that he's been gone for 10 years I can still feel his presense when I am watching it.
And I hung around with Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Scream, The Slickee Boys, and too many others to name. I was in a band that opened for many of them. I still count Ian McKaye, Dave Grohl and Henry Rollins as friends. Ah, the good old bad old days!
And, yeah, you can send me anything you want. Are you ready for a big beary guy with a safety pin through his ear and a blue mohawk though?

**OK... here goes - Top Three Uli, Michael, Jeffery
Uli wins.
JUmp on it**
I actually agree with you on this. I thought Kara got robbed last year. If Chloe hadn't gone I wouldn't have had to suffer through her "upholstery on parade" presentation at fashion week. Kara's faux collection was so much better and, certainly, more cohesive than the three who actually went. That's the slot where Uli fits and I think she's better than Chloe.
I didn't like Chloe at all, though I loved her personality, and DO think she knows how to make clothes. I thought Danny V's collection showed just how young he is. He's 24. He's a very sophisticated 24 but still. Santino had problems with the fit on some pieces (which could have been fixed if he had done them on real models instead of forms) and he played things a little safe but I remembered what Wendy said about Jay's collection the year before. He's got some sort of computer where his brain is and though I don't always respond to his pieces they do have power.
I think if Uli goes this year we are certain of a woman who won't play it safe or give us walking living room furniture.
I still think Jeff is going to take it all but that's because I love him. Cosa Nostra is the bomb.
Agree with everything but the Jeffrey love. On his audition videos and the bonus videos I can see why he has a good bit of success already in his niche. He does have "mad skills". and he promises an exciting runway show for sure!
I got so much flak for my unwavering support for Santino last season on the Runway 2 boards because of what came out of his mouth as much as his experimental style. I kept asking people to ignore his words and look into his eyes which were telling me a different story. Well, Jeffs eyes are just as insecure as Darlenes. I cannot respect him as a person. But I did notice that one of the first things Darlene said to him after he said he couldn't do the jacket for her was that she thought she might cry. That was a threat, and I don't blame him for not going down that road with her. But I am not too concerned with Jeffs psyche.
I also worry that Uli will be cast as Kara, Jeff for Santino, Michael for Chloe, and Laura or Vincent will take Daniel's slot for classic. I hope Michael will win, but not because he makes a good "story" and some kind of "goodwill ambassador for PR", but because he deserves it for his runway! But I would be happy for Uli to win also because she is another "natural". Laura is good, but she is not innovative enough. And I can't support Jeffrey because I think he has a serious problem with strong women, and his fashions are for tragic waifs only.
May I ask what is it about Laura that disappoints you? From her audition video she seems a very family-oriented person who just excells at many things. I can see why her husband scooped her right up. I might resent her if her clout with MK edges her in over Uli, but I want to like her for her individuality and willingness to go on teevee and share herself..

I loved it when Seal was asked if he in fact did say he found Heidi at her most beautiful when she was pregnant. Seal replied "well yes, I mean shes been pregnant almost the entire time Ive known her" or something very close to that. Too funny.

Missed that one! I'll have to go back and check TiVo. BUT, speaking of which, did you catch the nippage during the last award? On of the actresses from The Office had a wardrobe malfunction. I wonder if that's going to be splashed all over the Internet by tomorrow.

Seal was great because those comments were loving and totally off the cuff and then when he got into a little trouble or the commentator got too fresh, he stepped back and Heidi parried expertly. They make quite a team.
I did not watch long enough to see any wardrobe malfunction, but I doubt it was accidental. Some of those ladies, by the way they dressed, seemed to be inviting that kind of attention. Just spell their names right I guess?

**Wow! Can you be any nastier?**
Have you been shackled to an addiction that calls to you in every fiber of your being? If you haven't then you really have no idea what you're talking about. I've been there and I give praise to those that fought their way out. Withdrawl is easy. It's the life you have to lead after that's hard.
So, ya know, take your little milquetoast outrage somewhere else. I'm not impressed. Probably the hardest thing you have to do every day is decide what shirt to wear.
And, just so you know I'm not a nasty person by nature. I'm usually very nice, if a bit sarcastic, but when you jump on someone who has fought their way back from the abyss and made something of their lives it makes me unbelievably angry. I'm going to defend them immediately.

http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Marc_Alaimo**If I was directing a period film I might very well have Laura do the costumes but I don't really respond to that whole "flapper" thing. It reminds me of "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and you know that can't be good. That was a bad movie in 1967 and it's worse now.
As to the whole Jeff - Star Trek allusion. Hello? Bear, here! We live for the Trek! I look at it as a good thing.

i just saw a commercial for the next episode and had an idea. Maybe the designers are the jetsetters. They have to design for each other an outfit glam enough for the filthy rich. Look at the commercial next time. Angela actually looks halfway decent and is wearing shades much cooler then her normal birth control frames and her hair looks different. As for the judging being different, maybe Tim gets a say or they themselves get to judge.

I liked that movie. Ha Ha Shoo-Shoo.
I think Laura is classic. I wonder if she can do other stuff. I see her having a design ethic like Carolyn Rhome (sp) or Carolina Herrera.

We live for Trek, yes, and we are starving, my Polar Bear and I.
Hated Enterprise. I grew up on Voyager slash and Deep Space Nine. My guy has some vintage Kirk/Spock from the 80's MIT archives. It's on the computer paper that came in rolls.. His favourite is Next Generation which puts me to sleep.

ps.. do you think Jeff is trying to look like a Cardassian? or just act like one? he he..

Wow, Just getting here.
dcjewbear, my heart goes out to you. Some of us DO know what it's like. I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband.
I like to say I'm stuck between the hippies and the punks, too young to be a hippie and too old to be a punk. I identfy more with punks, but being from Austin, we went thru the whole cosmic cowboy Willie stuff when he was an outlaw, not an icon. I think it's a fair guess we're close in age, I was born in the spring of 1960. Anyway, I think most people our age have been affected in some way by alcohol and/or drugs. I have lost many friends to HIV, car accidents, OD'ing, Hepatis C, etc. One of my favorite cartoons is of a guy sitting all alone in an auditorium under a banner that says "National Conference for Functional Famlies".
Like the BigBoys used to say, "Pray for us, we don't fit in".
I have been clean for just over 15 years, and quit cigs in May of 2000. Yes, it's hard, my drug of choice was coke, didn't have to do it very long to screw up my life real quick. I am grateful I have a supportive family. I hope you have people in your life that love you.
