One of the best episodes in the fight against fat ......Todd did a great job, and will continue to do so. The guys never wanting to give up,Thom joining him in excerise class and the races. Hugs and kisses to Thom for being there (physically) and the other FF. I certainly would like to have Thom as my instructor....

OK, so let me get this straight: 20-something unemployed fat kid lives with attorney brother and mom and dad pay the bills. QE shows up and gives him personal training, life coaching, nutrition counseling, and other goodies, including a dream job internship. Fat lazy Todd manages to lose all of 30 pounds in 6-plus months, and yes, completes a mini-triathlon. Anyone else notice that he didnt get the normal QE schwag of clothing, home makeover, etc.? Looked to me like the producers had to have a come-to-Jeebus just to get him to complete the episode. Pathetic.
You know, I tend to agree more with JayBob than with the others who have commented so far on this episode. I might not be quite so judgemental but, yes! It was like pulling teeth to get Todd to commit. The personal trainer (I think it was, or maybe the friend) said it all, Todd was a yes man--he was enthusiastic with his words but not his commitment. And yes, I agree the 30 lb he lost made quite a difference--especially in his handsome face, and he WAS handsome! But he could have done so much more.
In his defense, however, he did comment at one point that he felt someone else had set the goal for him (the triathlon) (it sounded so good as a theme!--From Fat Man to Iron Man) and that he didn't feel a personal commitment to that goal.
And he was funny!! And a good sport in general. But, yeah maybe if he had had a little more input originally on a goal he might have done better. Remember when the couple expressed a love of dancing? That was incorporated into their physical fitness program and boosted their morale when it sagged.
Kudos as always to the Fab Five and especially Thom's willingness to support Eric physically.
As for the booty (swag)--it's almost obscene in each case and I sometimes feel the guys are just going thru' the motions as they hand it out now. It's definitely my least favorite part of the show.
Cheers,

p.s. STILL--I've so enjoyed this series of episodes overall--the longer term commitment to the makebetters, the longer term goals for the makebetters, developing a deeper relationship with the makebetters.

I griped and whined that in the last episode we didn't see enough of Thom. Well, Ghod must be reading our posts! Congratulations, hugs, kisses, and any other form of affection Thom desires, for successfully completing the triathalon and being such an incredible support for Todd. I'm still a bit out of breath from seeing Thom in latex.
Next ep looks like a tear jerker.....a widower who needs a bit of help from the FF. As my old friends on this board know, I was widowed after my husband was killed on his motorcycle. In the promo, it looks like Thom gets a bit emotional and, needless to say, I'll have the tissues handy.
It's so wonderful to be back on the board again! I love you guys!

Didn't think he was gonna hang on there for a minute....but he pulled through in the end!
Poor Kyan looked about ready to burst into tears when he saw what he did with that GLUE....
And I gotta hand it to Thom too! I expected that to be more of an event for Kyan...but TF did a great job!

Yeah, I have to agree that he was somewhat less than committed to the whole thing - but I kind of liked that they ended up with one who wasn't quite the stunning success everyone else was. I'd actually wondered what would happen if one of their picks DIDN'T meet their goal. Of course, Todd did lose 30 some pounds AND finished a triathalon (sorry, I can't seem to figure out how you actually spell that, but you know what I mean) so he certainly didn't fail, but he could have done way more in six months. But it just goes to show that not everyone suceeeds, even with all that help.

I was going to mention this very thing when you mourned not having enough Thom in the last one- that you should have PLENTY of Thom viewing in this episode - but I haven't been able to get on here in ages - this site is ALWAYS down. Anyhow, I figured you'd be very happy! It was quite impressive, him doing the triathalon too, and doing so well.
I kind of dread the next one - the tear-jearkers bother me. But, hey, I'll take whatever I can get.
And let me just give a plug for my other Favorite Show since they did a commercial for it during this QE: for anyone who has never seen Six Feet Under, YOU MUST WATCH.
Seriously. Best.Series.EVER. Bravo is getting back on my good side by airing it. And it will cheer me up during the next QE drought, which I'm sure will be along soon.

raindog: I'm really looking forward to watching Six Feet Under on Bravo since I never got to see it on HBO. I was too poor for the cable upgrade.
I understand that the tear-jerker episodes of QE can seem exploitive (I'm not sure if that's the reason you're bothered by that type.....it could be that you just don't want to feel sad), but I'm really touched by the part in the promo when Jim (the widower) mentions the possibility of walking in the sunshine again. It's been several years since my husband, Tom (yeah.....that's right.....go ahead and draw your own psychological conclusions about my infatuation with Thom) but I still have days when it's difficult to walk in the sunshine. Even from a distance of 3000 miles, Thom and QE have helped me so I know the Fab 5 can help Jim.
Just to appease anyone who is annoyed that I'm babbling about Jim on the Todd E. thread, I will mention yet again how wonderful Thom looked in his swimsuit. How much did I want to wrap my arms around that chest!?!?! Lookin' good, Pumpkin.

I'm with you, Tomasulo, I also never had HBO and have heard only good things about Six Feet so I'm looking forward to it as well. Wasn't Jack McFarland up for a part on Six Feet at one time on Will and Grace?
There are only two reasons I pay extra over basic cable in my home town--Bravo and Lifetime and recently (with the exception of Queer Eye) neither of them have been living up to the extra $30 a month. Hope this will change, soon!
Cheers,

I actually watched it all on DVD - we just have basic dish. And if you like it, I'd really suggest DVD - I bet Bravo has to cut stuff and bleep language, and the zillions of commercial breaks will be maddening. I just was SO excited to see the commercial that aired during QE last week - it was like seeing old friends!
I'll say that the first three seasons were my favorites. It gets bleaker and grimmer during the last two seasons, to the point that I was actually happy to finish it by the time it was over.

I totally understand that - I think I like them less because I find them kind of upsetting. Actually, that's the same reason I found the last episodes of Six Feet Under kind of upsetting. I'm afraid I like to pretend I live in a happy little world where people you love never die, so it's always upsetting when reality seeps in. I'm so glad you found QE, and Thom - I can't imagine going through something so horrible.
