Mike seems like a cool dude. Can relate to him ... and love the accent. He has got to be the hottest stud you guys have had on.. good luck mike

I really liked this episode. Mike's place was so blah and empty. And I thought my brother's room was a blank slate. Mike could have listened to Ted better and done all the cooking himself, but it really is the effort that counts. As a straight girl, I would love it if a guy made me a meal for a date or something, but does that happen? No. I loved what Thom did to his place! And speaking of Thom... how ticked was I when they showed only the first part of his hip tip with the sheets? Outraged! I thought my TV was playing tricks or that my mind went blank for a second and I just missed it.

Michael, Michael, Michael...
"When I first heard about you guys..."
AH! His girlfriend signed him up! Another SG unfamiliar with what he was getting into! I loved that the guys brought their own CSI investigative set! Lawdy - a cop AND helping with the baseball team? When do you have time, hon?
It was only inevitable that this would be a classic "the guy messed up" episode... and I giggled and gaffawed the WHOLE way!

Did I miss something? Was Michael color blind? Pink can look Tan to someone who is color blind... yeah.. That's it... that explains Carson getting the guy such low-toned (sexy, sharp) clothes! (Carson not putting the SG in color was almost unthinkable!)

And speaking of Carson - **THUD**!!! Thank you, you dear mesmeric cutie Carson for putting yourself and the other dear boys in CALVIN KLEIN!!! (And WHEW, LAWD!) Carson was STUNNING!!! I still love the lowlights in his hair - and his wonderful sense of humor! I wasn't crazy about the frayed edges - but the SG's jacket was cute. (Hey - buddies! Hands off the Carson designed couture!!!) Carson does SUCH an amazing job - every time! (And he makes a lovely Bride... but {Ahem} perhaps to find one next time more his size... let alone UNZIPPED prior to trying on!!!) (Sound of seams popping)

And then there was JAI Whooo Lawd! Boyfriend was FINE!!! (The room temperature went up 10*! I swear!)
This episode didn't have as strong a focus on Jai as I would like - but I am deeply jealous of Michael getting that cool phone! (Yes, my cell is paleolithic too!) Jai's instructions on the speech were right on target - and Michael's hats off to his mom was truly beautiful.

Thom was not only stellar in his purple stripes - he was seriously brilliant with the design of that apartment! (Was the ceiling from Armstrong? I want to see their line of ceiling material now! I love their floors!) Michael's place was warm and buttery like Jeff Toale's place - don't you think? Sure was better than that FAUX FINISHED Pink painted PANNELLING!!! (Peptobismol is prettier... and that pre-Thomified apartment made me need some, seriously!) Thom - you are a wonder to behold! (Too bad we couldn't behold all of that HIP TIP you silly editors!!! That was just WRONG of you!! )

Ted, Ted, Ted ...wonderously handsome, so much more relaxed and playful... and had to suffer another Straight Guy destroying the meal. Sigh... baby - you tried! (Michael... boil next time... Teddy... more cooking classes for SG's!) But now, Teddy - dearest... this kids girlfriend signed him up - so you might have been strenuous on the "THIS IS ALL FOR HER" messages... this poor dear was obviously not a regular viewer! (Shades of Lawson Clark - don't you know!)

I loved Kyan's romp - and the whole workout at the gym. I wish my back would let me do those side crunches - but alas - NO. (Must find another way to maintain core muscles.) ...Hmmm... Thom loooked like the thinnest one of the bunch this time... more dears than Teddy and Carson have been nibbling on doughnuts...) Kyan was a stunner - and I really was telling myself - "Must work out, must work out...!" I was so proud of Michael with the whole "Spray, delay and walk away" gushzzz in the face! **snaps** But I do wish he had shaved.

I thought the game was wonderful! Yeah! For Michael hitting the winning home run! I loved how cute he was - and his girlfriend was a stunning beauty! I thought his little brother was a doll and I loved his mom! What a great smile!!

I really must stop and post with a clearer mind later... (Things I Hate About You is repeating, and I must go giggle over that snoring vacuum sequence again!)
Peace darlin's!
(Thanks for making me laugh dear Fab 5 - you make my days easier!)

Kyan looked hot as usual and I loved his outfit. I also loved his Adidas workout pants and the way he had his "ass up in the air" during the ball exercise. I liked Ky's footcare advice. I love my man in casual clothing, and that short-sleeved over long-sleeved t-shirt look he wore in the Batcave was so Hot! I was all SQUEE! when I saw Ky with Jai in his Hip Tip! Then, in Kyan's own Hip Tip, he wore a sleeveless shirt!!! As he was puffing and contorting his face while he worked his triceps in the Hip Tip, my imagination ran wild and I kept rewinding that part. Hee!

Carson loves sniffing the SGs' underwear, doesn't he? Good thing the ones he smelled this time were clean. I know it's the thought that counts, but I wasn't really feeling the blazer that Carson modified. Good effort, though.

Although I didn't think the apt. was too bad to begin with, I loved the job Thom did with it. (I wasn't so hot about his work last week.) OKAY, I HAVE A BONE TO PICK WITH BRAVO ABOUT THE MID-SHOW HIP TIP! Here I was starting to get all SQUEE, when it was cut off before the best part!! I know there are time restrictions, but that was just mean!

Ted did well this time. I've gotta try that pasta recipe! Lord knows I need to eat more veggies.

The SG had good bone structure. Why did he need a makebetter? Just to be on TV, to get free stuff, to get a gay maid service, or for the GF to meet FF? His gut issue reminded me of Steve S. It was soft and jiggly, but he wasn't fat, and if the boys hadn't pointed it out, I wouldn't have known. I understand why he didn't have much of a wardrobe, working in a uniform. Other than the ceiling and the loose shower head, his home wasn't bad to begin with, before the boys trashed it as they went through it. It seemed as if the boys were looking too hard for things in his home to pick on.
The GF was very beautiful and lucky to have this nice-looking SG, but I got so tired of hearing the FF mention her name practically every other sentence. I mean, I get it - she probably was the one who "turned him in" to the boys, but does this all have to sound like it revolves around her? It makes him sound whipped.
So I wasn't really into this episode until the SG screwed up in the kitchen and freaked out. That made things more interesting.
For once, the idea for the reveal was good, and the SG's involvement in these charity events is commendable.

Notevayas, you're in for a real treat next week: The Bravo Twins. Again!

Well, alright, I can't help but comment....How cool was Ted in the reveal wearing that studded belt and pinstripe pants? *Sigh* I've must have rewinded that segment half a million times now!
(When I'm not wearing bloomers and petticoats I'm rocking in black!)

I just KNEW that you'd be rewinding that Ky-Tip! He! He! Thanks for the agreement over the CLIP TIP version of the STRIP TIP!

Now, to just patiently await the BBB's posting of our dear SG Jeff "GhostBeard" Toale down on his thread. Can't wait to see how he's been doing lately!
Peace pets!

Thoroughly enjoyed the episode (as usual) but here's a heads up for Ted: did you call this cop an idiot?....really?....you might want to make sure you drive under the speed limit for awhile. Although I must admit, I used to think the phrase ".....can't boil water" was a joke...until now.
Thom: you looked hot hot hot! That shirt straining slightly at the buttons......ghod help me!
Melly and Michael are an adorable couple.....to quote Thom from a previous ep (if memory serves me right), "I see good things for these little peeps".
Thom, that comment about stalkers....was that directed at me?
ThomsTeddyBear
Ahh, back to some kind of normalcy - oh wait, "normal" never applies to me.

Mike was as cute as he could be - reminded me a bit of John Z. in the face. With more exercise and less alcohol, he'll lose that bit of beer belly - there's not too much there.

Jai is never going to find porn in any of the SG's houses again, lol! They are all onto our boys now and they are cleaning house (so to speak) before the boys get there to avoid embarrassing situations.

Had a nice chuckle when Thom bumped into the wall wearing the football helmet - as long as it wasn't his face! Loved the Jeff Toale style he did on Mike's house - it was what was needed but it was still individual enough to relate to Mike. LOVED that Armstrong ceiling - I swear, I get so many friggin' ideas after watching Thom work! I also get ideas about my apartment.

I wasn't too cool on the green outfit Carson had Mike in but the others did the trick. I also liked that Jai got him an organizer because he really needed it!

I'll probably think of more later when I review the tape, I'm still lagging in energy from my trip so keeping it kind of short and sleeping alot. Will post again!

Finally I can comment on this episode! It was a great one, with Mike messing up a lot! (poor guy) First of all, I loved the whole detective kit that they brought in! --"This sheet looks somewhat fresh, but I'm not trusting it"(or something along the lines of that)--They were really using a lot of that kit, sampling and all! Kyan was really good hitting the board in the very beginning. I think Jai was a bit scared, though. Kyan's arm came pretty close to him! Ted, Carson, and Jai had a wonderful song going with the glasses, until, you know, they broke them.

I'm so glad that Melly called!(or they called Melly) Jai had a very scared look on his face when she brought up the feet. We didn't get to see Kyan almost pass out, though! Thom was also on the phone with Melly, and he was just on how pink the room was! And the dust! "There's jsut dust everywhere!" Speaking of the apartment, it was so bare! When I was watching the before and after scenes, it really hit me that basicallly all he had was a couch and a TV. And junk scattered around from the Fab 5 coming in. That ceiling was hahhhhrible! They could actually take it off, that was just scary.

Carson was very funny trying to put on Mike's cousin's(?) dress. While Carson was putting it on saying he could fit because he was a size eight, you could hear Thom in the background with a warning voice saying, "Caaarrrsooon...." Thom knew. *rrrrrippp* Oops!

Now to comment on what all the guys did that actually helped Mike.

Carson--I really liked the sleek suite that he picked out for Mike. All the shirts fit very nicely with it. But I wasn't loving the army-inspired pant and jacket. Sorry, Carson, but to me it looked like a bad jump-suite thing. But Mike did look really good at the end of the show. Mike owned a lot of black and gray, and Carson did a wonderful job of opening up his clothing options. I'm glad Carson explained the whole nylon doesn't breathe thing. "dehydrate--boom--dead--not good."

Ted--I feel really sorry for Ted right now. I mean, Ted explained what Mike should do, he showed him how, and kept talking about how MIKE was supposed to make this FOR MELLY. And then Mike goes and messes it up. Even I know how to make pasta. And Mike was making Melly do everything! Give the girl a brake! Being in Washington with the whole Mad Cow thing going on, I miss burgers. It would be so great to have a "Better Burger" here.

Jai--As always, he looked really good in this episode! I agree with De on that! So now we know that Jai is a procrastinator! I think we all put things off once in a while.(I know I do!) I want that little organizer gadeget that he got Mike! ("It will call you up and say, Hey!, you have a doctor's appoitment!") Jai was really great with telling Mike that he needed to get organized and start doing things! Jai also gave some really great pointers on Mike's speech, and it actually turned out really well. It was so sweet of him to bring up his mom! And snaps to Mike for keeping kids out of trouble! It was really funny when Jai was in the car with Mike, and after Mike commented about the couch being cinnamon, Jai went, "Oh, God, you really have been hanging out iwth Thom." Hilarious! Loved his hip tip with Kyan!

Thom--Sorry Thom wives about the mid-way hip tip! Thom did a fabulous job with the apartment! The ceiling was wonderful, anything was better than before! I really liked that shelf that he put in, but I was a little nervous when Mike lit the candles two inches from the wood...The furniture all fit together nicely, and I loved the color. Mike actually had stuff! Mike was really stiff in the furniture store. It was funny when Mike said how he called Melly 10 times a day, and Thom said, "No, that's actually a stalker."

Kyan--Good thing he took Mike to the excercise place. MGK must have liked that scene. I think Mike needed it with his growing gut, and it's good that he took the whole year membership. And good for Kyan for ripping off Mike's "sole"! "Oh, well, i guess you'll have to go buy new shoes." The haircut was really nice.

All together the Fab 5 did a great job! I'm going to shut up now because this post is going to be really long!

Sorry, Christopher... Mike was hot, but not the hottest ever.. give him points, tho, he was right up there with our Skater, and a few others who would qualify for the hottest ever--
I do, however, agree with Depoetic, that it's once again obvious that the SG got signed up by the GF and had no real clue of what was going on! and MyGuyKy, you are SO on the money-did not love this ep till the reveal and the utter hysteria going on in the loft with all the screwups- And his handing off all the work reminded me of my favorite episode, Mullet man starring the Pizza [expletive deleted].. (oh, yea, another runner up for the Hottest SG evah!!! the sheared Mullet man..) I also got tired of Millie this, Millie that.. enough already. she probably was annoyed that she didn't get to meet them!
big_fan_of_Jai
I forgot to comment on somethings on my first post. Mike--Don't pass around your nose hair trimmer! Please! You should know that! Did you realize what you did? That was unsanitary!

Okay, rant over. Now, Mike, tell your friends not to try on your clothes while they are wearing a dirty t-shirt. They might possibly rip it. "Look, it's a big guy in a little jacket!" Please, no. For Carson's sake, don't do that again.

Okay, besides that and the cooking incident, Michael was good.

The SG was quite the hottie! He looked even better after Kyan got through with him. He was right about him needing help with his hair. It's amazing what a simple hair cut can do.

Did anyone else find it strange that he had a wedding dress in his closet? I'm with Thom in not quite believing the whole "it's my cousin's wife's" story. I also thought it was pretty nasty when all those guys were using the same nose clipper. But I guess I shouldn't be shocked cause guys think nothing of doing gross things like.

Loved, loved, loved Jai's shirt. I'm the queen of all things purple. Loved Thom's outfit too. I love it when he wears form fitting clothes to show off that fantastic body of his. And speaking of his fantastic body, I was was quite upset(as I'm sure most everyone else was) when they cut the best part of his hip tip out.

Let's see, what else did I love about this show? Oh yeah, the shelving unit that Thom chose. I had liked the black one he picked way back when for Tom M. at that same store.I was seriously scared when he lit those candles in it. Not the smartest thing to do.
Of couse Thom did a fabulous job on the entire apartment. He wasn't kidding when he said Michael didn't have anything.

And finally, that dish that Ted had him make looked delicious. Gotta try that some time soon.
ThommyGirl
I have a couple more things to add to my previous post. I knew I was forgetting something.

I found the Fab 5's distaste for the potpourri(Barney's pubic hair) hilarious. Kyan: Doesn't it smell like your Aunt June? Ted:It smells you YOUR Aunt June. They were so shocked when he pulled out another bag of it.

I knew as soon as Carson found that wedding dress, he wouldn't be able to resist trying it on. How cute was Thom's reaction to his doing so? "Caaarrrrssoonn!"

I also found the whole music with glasses performance in the kitchen very funny. It's not a complete show unless one of them breaks something.
Chipmunk_IQ
Well thanks. Glad to be here. I hope I come back too.

I can't post where I saw it, but somewhere else other people speculated that perhaps his cousin didn't have enough closet space for it (living in NYC), and the SG did. I wish they explained it on the show, though. I hate when we're left to put 2 + 2 together or to try to read between the lines about these details.

I sure did, hunny! After the show, I had fantasies about Ky being my personal trainer.

Y'know, I felt a bit misled by the promos before this show. They played soft music and said, "...and he's a big brother". I was led to believe that the SG was involved in the Big Brothers organization. But instead, no, it's just that he had a much younger sibling.

I posted in the General thread but maybe here is the best place.

Why does Carson always rant about anything but cotton?

Professional athletes use 100% synthetic materials in their jumpsuits, shirts, shorts, jerseys, socks, etc.

As a cyclist, when I switched from cotton T-shirts to rayon and polyester Nike Dri-Fit (and their clones) shirts, the difference was night and day. I was dying in the cotton T-shirt and shorts -- just completely drenched and overheating.

The Dri-Fit shirts breathe and wick sweat away from my body. Then there's my DeFeet socks which are synthetic as well. I know of no sock that will keep my feet dry after a 6 hour July bike ride in Houston. But the DeFeets do!

Linen has its place too, but if we followed the all-natural fibers rule except for clubs, when would I ever get to see a cute boi running around in skin-tight beige or white ribbed shirts?
ThomThyme
Carson did it again, he sniffed the SG's undies! LOL!
I loved how they were going around with all the detective tools! LOL! Thom made his place look great as usual!
Good episode. Looking forward to the Bravo Twins next week, that was a hysterical episode!

I was at arriveateleven and I saw a picture of Jai. When I looked closer I saw that he was holding the organizer that he gave to Michael in this episode! Another thing to say that QE is not scripted, because Jai actually DOES use that organizer so he WAS telling the truth and not reading it off a script. (the scripted thing goes back in posts in general comments or FFForum)

I haven't a clue how to answer you - as I am not an athlete. I do, however, have the exact opposite experience to yours. Synthetics make me die of heat exhaustion here in our 100*+ heat - and natural fibres save my hide. (Rayon is a natural entity - it is tree cellulose.)

Perhaps you could write Scout and ask Carson directly?

Anyway - welcome to the forum! It was good to see another Texan! Pull up a chair and feel free to join in!
Peace and grace to you!

That was great - I didn't realize it was Thom saying that at first. It didn't sound like him - I thought it was Mike. The second time I saw it I noticed Mike's mouth wasn't moving, so it HAD to be Thom. Or ventriloquism.

I do hope they repaired the "cousin's wife's" dress, though.

A fellow HOUSTONIAN? Hello! and hugs!

My only question is WHY are you doing 6 hour bike rides in Houston in July. Are you inSAne? I can't imagine that _any_thing would help much ... and what difference would it make anyway since your brain baked in the first hour anyway?! Ok - please know that I am teasing.
I just got back from a day of strenuous shopping, I mean intensly going from ac'd shop to ac'd car. I'm wasted hot. And this on the coolest August day in Houston's history. It's _just_ 85*F out there. Practically chilly.

I don't know why Carson insist on cotton and linen. I detest them both. Against my better judgement was enticed into buying a couple of linen blouses this summer. 10 minutes out the door and I look like I've slept in them for a week. AND I HATE (I mean REALLY, REALLY HATE) to iron. Cotton and Linen just look rumpled and sloppy if not ironed. So I end up sending them to be dry cleaned just to avoid ironing them. For the past two weeks they've been in the dry cleaning pile. What good is couture if you don't wear it!??
Remember the episode where Carson bought the guy Tommy Bahama Hawaiian shirts? Well, my boyfriend bought a couple to take with us on a (fancy) Florida vacation (so he would have _something_ casual but nice. They do come in solid colors.) They are 100% silk, with a tag that says DO NOT DRY CLEAN. (AND they are almost $100 a pop!) Hello? Do you _really_ think that a guy who I've just barely convinced to upgrade from tshirts is gonna iron? No. And as I've said; I really, really, really hate to iron. So I iron them. Because HE would just as soon wear them wrinkled. He said If it bothers you.... you iron them.

Excuse my rant. But I just wanted to say I agree.

I am EXTREMELY curious about what Carson is gonna do to the Dallas SGs. Can you imagine? Layering? Yea, right.

hugs all,
Caseygrrl

As for heat, wasn't today wonderful? 80 degrees low humidity. Supposed to be even nicer tomorrow.

Yeah, for bike riding, cotton is scary. Maybe I *am* insane but if I don't ride in June-August, then when I get back on a bike in September it will be like starting over. We start at 7am and try to be done riding by 11am but that doesn't always happen. When it is obscenely hot, you keep a Polar Ice water bottle full of ice on the bike cage and pour it down your neck and on your thighs. Rest stops on organized rides are typically 10-12 miles apart, so you can refill on ice at each stop. Some even have ice-cold washcloths that you can squeeze thru your helmet.

I *have* definitely gotten delirious and fatigued from the heat but ice water solves it. Not fron dehydration though. I usually drink literally a gallon of Gatorade on 60+ mi rides.

Sorry to hear you don't like linen. Yes, it's hard to maintain. I would never wear a linen shirt, but a pair of white coarse linen pants is an absolute necessity if you must dress formal and be out in the sun.

The Dallas shows should be interesting. I'm hoping that Ted will go to Central Market.

After organizing the office I work at, I couldn't wait to sit on the sofa, and watch Thom and the guys last night. At 9:45 my boyfriend showed up with a movie...not! He is not a fan of the guys, but he watched it and enjoyed! He can't wait to try Ted's pasta recipe, and he couldn't believe the apartment. I, of course, had to hid my face when Thom's tease came on. I can't wait to watch the twins next week, plus I'm off next Wednesday, so I won't have to tape my eyes open to see Thom and the gang.

Carson sniffing the undies again--I'm starting to think this is one of his kinks...

This boy better have had all of his shots between what he sniffs, and the unidentifiable "food" items he finds and sticks in his mouth...

Bad boy!

80*? 80* is wonderful to you people!? --Sorry, but being from Washington where it is now in the 80*s and everyone is wishing they had air conditioning/opening all windows/sitting out on their deck enjoying this once in a while experience, I feel bad for you. Of course, I'm not adapted to hot weather. Here, two and a half months of the year, it is sunny and hot. I'm wondering too what Carson will do with the SGs from Texas. Swimsuites, anyone? ha! j/k.

I don't go bike riding, but I ride horseback quite a bit and I think I would die without a cotton shirt. Although, I can't stand to wear the cotton polo shirts with the collar and everything like some people at the stable do. I don't compete cause I don't have my own horse, but I ride and I always wear (and don't tell Carson) a big T-shirt which is about 4 times too big. I figure, the horse doesn't care what I look like and usually no one rides with me so no one's around to care what I look like. But, my riding breeches are made of 95% cotton and 5% lycra and they are the best! If I could get away with it I think I'd wear riding pants every day. It would certainly get me a lot of attention!

Wow. I didn't know that. I always thought it was a synthetic. I know the original post on this topic was regarding active wear, but I'd like to discuss it in relation to fashion and casual wear. Over on H/T, I was ranting about having a hard time finding my size and the poor workmanship of most clothes I see at the mall anymore. (maybe it's because most of them are no longer made in the USA, but rather in sweatshops in 3rd world countries) The third thing that has contributed to my recent "aversion to shopping" is the sea of polyester everywhere - especially in women's fashion tops. Has cotton become such a rare commodity? I realize that with the invention of microfibers, nylon and poly have become more acceptable. I'm finding it even in the good brands, like Guess, HotKiss and XOXO. I'm even wearing a poly top as I'm typing this. Okay, poly is more permanent press than naturals, but what about long-sleeved tops? If my underarms never ever sweated, fine. I'm not hot about linen, because I too, hate to iron! Some cotton blends are more wrinkle-resistant. I wonder what ever happened to cotton/lycra spandex. It's too late for a New Year's Resolution, but I'll promise myself from now on not to buy anymore nylon or poly clothes, only intimates, and to hold out for cotton blends.

I liked Ted's Hip Tip about portion control. Fast food doesn't fatten me up, but slow food from restaurants does. I love dining out, but some places' portion sizes have gotten crazy. And it's hard for someone like me, who has a big appetite anyway, and who believes it's a sin to waste food. Most of my life, I've been the president of the "clean plate club". SIP! It takes discipline to take home the rest of the food. At work, when management brings in pastries on some Fridays, I see those giant blueberry muffins, and it's all I can do to take only half.

Actually, I love linen - it *looks* beautiful .... on other people. I just feel rumpled in it. It *is* cool and comfortable, I just hate the ironing part. I agree with you in the linen pants for a summer dressy look. I think my guy is sold on it too. He was amazed at the comfort. For him to wear _anything_ other than shorts through the summer is a miracle. He looked very snazzy in his linen pants and tommy bahama shirts when we visited friends in West Palm Beach. again - I just hate the ironing... <whine!>

Yes the weather was wonderful today. Sadly, tomorrow I will be locked in a seminar from 9a.m. til at least midnight. Is there any chance it will last through the weekend?

I admire you for your cycling. I razz you because I'm jealous. I have a fantasy of biking across America. But I am a wimp. Too much pain or heat or effort and I cave. I am doing good to do a half a$$'d treadmill work out a few times a week. Do you cycle Memorial Park?

Central Market would be perfect! Or Whole Foods. Do they have Whole Foods up in yankee country? I vaguely remember seeing one in Boston when I visited there. The Plano (big D suburb) Whole Foods is awesome and has a great cheese dept. I felt so sorry for Ted when Mike flubbed the pasta dish so badly. Who would have even imagined having to *tell* someone how to do pasta! I can get having to discuss not over cooking or how to tell when it is done; but EVERYone knows to boil the liquid before adding pasta. Don't they? Guess NOT!! I had _never_ heard of boiling the pasta in broth! Concept! Can't wait to try it.

Enjoy the cool weather while it lasts...
hugs!

I am no expert, but I run and I never Drink ice water because of cramps. Cool water is best. Multiple changes of cotton t's for me. Synthetic skin tight shirts are for children of all ages and middle age crises cases.

I love cotton and linen, but I despise ironing and that's why I end up avoiding linen. Nothing wrinkles like linen, and it's so sad. I hate ironing so much that my house is full of bottles of spray-on wrinkle remover. {hoping Carson isn't reading this and going into a coronary arrest} It works very well as long as you use it in plenty of time for it to dry. But with linen, you can have all the wrinkles out and by the time you drive to work you're one big rumpled mess again.

This made me think of one of my favorite Sylvia cartoons - it's a questionnaire saying, "Which of the following is used to remove wrinkles from clothes:

1) A five-iron
2) A tire-iron
3) A dry cleaner"

Swimsuites, anyone? ha! j/k.

Love for Jai!

I wish it was 80 here!!! It's SIXTY DEGREES at 2:30 in the afternoon in the MIDDLE OF AUGUST. I hate cold weather and I'm SO ready to move to, say, TEXAS. (Yes, 60 is cold. BRRRRRR) It's so annoying because winter lasts from, oh, September till June here anyhow, and it's mostly been rainy and chilly all summer.

Didn't say I drank ice-cold water. I drink cool gatorade from my 3 liter Camelbak.

Sorry to hear you think so little of skin-tight shirts. If someone is fit, I think they look fantastic wearing them. Not everyone is within reach of looking fit though.

I was cheering when Kyan gave a bike to the SG a few weeks ago. I don't agree that it was a "top of the line" bike. A top of the line bike is something like a ridiculous $8,000 Moots. Most people die of shock when you tell them that a good comfortable bike starts at $850.

I am happy to be cycling and it really only hurts if your seat is not adjusted, the bike is not the right size, or you are pushing yourself to improve. Not wearing the right clothes or having a seat that is TOO padded or TOO comfortable can be a real problem. If you just ride for pleasure then it shouldn't hurt at all.

I started in Memorial Park in 2002. But as you get faster and want to go longer distances, a 2.5 mile loop gets quite boring. Now it's 40-80mi rides that start from 15-70 miles away from Houston (Katy to Columbus or Chappell Hill). We're always on the hunt for hills (which Houston has none of).

I think Central Market edges out Whole Foods, at least in Houston. But Whole Foods is closer so I go there if I just don't have time to make the trek to CM.

I've got to agree to a point. I don't "glow" or "perspire" - I SWEAT! And wearing natural fibers makes it worse unless it's something really loose. I know Carson would hate me for this, but polyester shirts are my closet friends, lol. I have found a nice combination that lets me breathe though - it's a cotton/linen blend. My mother found a top made of that and it is sooooooo comfortable and I don't overheat in it. I don't know what she paid for it but I can imagine the price so I won't have many of those kinds of tops any time soon.

I can't wait to watch the twins next week, plus I'm off next Wednesday, so I won't have to tape my eyes open to see Thom and the gang.

LOL

Too bad they cut it short though - I'm SURE that that is illegal to do in most states where Thom is involved in revealing some part of his body!

What I do is handwash cool and iron while still a bit damp, hang to finish, and it's all good.. until you have to sit for any length of time, then you go rumpled.

Again!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAggggghhhhh! No Way! I'd rather watch a rerun of 'Ralphie' and stripper butts! I'd rather watch that Alan the semi-professional nerd self-promote. I'd rather watch Wayne stress out over losing his sponge! I'd rather.. filk!
Seriously though, what's this thing about cops?? Sure, it was interesting, but y'know there's fireman, paramedics (like tick's BF) hint hint hint..
But this Michael was a good pick. It looked like his first real apartment. And Kyan's segment was good, but he was not as overweight as Kyan thought, unless he was going for a job as a male stripper. From my point of view, all angles and bone makes for a rough ride. Theres nothing wrong with a little curve as long as there's muscle underneath!

You won't offend me. Opinions are what this is all about, right? And if I say something thoughless or dumb or spout off a bunch of malarky without *thinking it through*.... I'd thank you for calling me on it. Make me think. Make me articulate my thoughts well enough to be understood. Otherwise, I get lazy.
And if you are being a moody [expletive deleted], I'll either sass you back or ignore you. Won't hurt my feelings.
I admire you for putting your money where your opinions are. I believe that is what is strong about a capitalistic society like we have. If you don't purchase their product and they want to stay in business they will rethink their methods. They only do it if it pays.
On the otherhand, I can't keep up with it all. I tend to purchase based on quality of the product, if I can. I like to keep small businesses in business if I can; I try to avoid the big chains. I am lazy though and do waffle between my convictions and my convienence.

It is after midnight and I am starting to drift. I hope I made sense.

I think Carson knows a lot more about the "masculine" side besides just amor...He drives a Mustang, and seems to know more about sports, mechanics, etc. I mean, it comes with the territory. At some point growing up, he had to have "played the game" just to survive the other kids.

He also seems pretty handy in the kitchen. The boy seems to have it all.

You know the pictures of the Fab 5 all wearing white suits? It looks like Ky's trousers are linen. He's sitting down, but if I was there when he stood up, I'd be more than happy to tszuj those wrinkles out for him.
I made my black twill pants, after "having a fit" about finding pants that fit. Now, I just finished making a pair out of off-white raw silk. It's not easy to sew because it's such a flimsy and fussy fabric, despite its nubby texture.

...feldon28

Your response is interesting feldon28, and I am wondering if it has something to do with running vs. cycling, or just a general attitude toward differing opinion and esthetic..

I strongly disagree with your statement that "not everyone is within reach of looking fit though." And I find it telling that you used the phrase 'looking fit' and not 'being fit' which are not necessarily the same thing.
And you proclaimed this in response to my negative opinion about synthetic skintight sportswear? A little defensive are we?

All sports have their peacocks- even running. But an aspect of running that I appreciate is the low cost, making it an inclusive sport as opposed to an exclusive sport. Someone with $200 running shoes has not much more advantage, if any, over me in my $80 trainers. Some Kenyans, for example, who are the best runners in the world, often run barefoot!

I share a route with cyclists and skaters and I find many of the cyclists to be extreemly arrogant, often cutting me off my path. Quite a few are terrible eyesores in the morning with their garish spandex costumes. I say that literally and figuratively, runners are much more 'down to earth' and friendly! But if you want to be shallow, no sport gives you the inner thighs that inline skating does! But I will always say that no muscle is sexier than a fit mind. And dressing like a billboard doesn't demonstrate individuality or confidence.

I realize that to some, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy represents a vindication and affirmation of a self indulgent elitist lifestyle. Yet I don't see that message as much as I see the exhortation to be open to all the good things life has to offer, including the many things that do not come with a daunting price tag attached, such as your example of the $8,000.- bicycle.

For example, eating well is less expensive than buying processed fatty/salty/sugared quick foods. Dressing well is owning a few nice things and taking care of them. Grooming starts with fitness and cleanliness and is not expensive at home. Investing in solid furniture is more cost effective than buying junk that will need to be replaced. Good furniture can be refinished and re-upholstered. And good manners and thoughtfulness of communication are priceless. Culture means more than the right tickets or cds. These are messages just as strong as tips on which brands and designers are interesting at any given time.

I am not disparaging cycling. In many parts of the world it is a major method of transportation and not a sport at all. And cycling as a sport is more inclusive than many others. I suppose what I'm really interested in is attitude. And how this attitude relates to Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. I posted previously that I wanted the Fab Five to be respected as the unique individuals that they are, and not because they make darling paper dolls for bored society girls.. or boys for that matter. I would add to that that this show is so much more than an infomercial for high end consumer goods.

Yes, the element of sybaritic sycophants still irks me. As comfortable as the Fab Five are in their venues, they are still very guerilla theatre in my opinion. And as long as they embrace their own diversity and revel in the expanding space their personal honesty is creating for them in this world, I will go on cheering from my own small space that I more selfishly protect. And lob out Opinions whenever I like.. and fish for ideas in this great forum.
