HI EVERYONE!!!!!!

Wow - I've missed you all so, so much!! I feel so bad for not staying current with you, but with work & everything, I had NO time over the summer to come play, or watch QE for that matter.

Greetings back Fraggle! Sheesh! I was wondering about you! I hope you have a bit of time to drop in more often... but don't let time with us interfere with your studies!

Welcome back to our essenkay too!

Y'all have a lot of reading to catch up on! Ha! Ha! QE school! --Well... hugs gals! I hope we get to see more of ya!

And for the folks still playing with the names... OK...
The goth name generator came up with "Damaged Roses" with my shortened name and "Flirting with Suicide" with my whole name. Scary, huh?

Whiskers - when I used your formula for the "porn" name... I end up sounding like a daytime soap opera star! With all my pets and all the places I've lived the past few years... "Hailey Harwell" or "Mandy Trellis Place" or "Alexander Greenbriar" or "Sebastian Townehouse Lane"... Nothing provocative at all.
Sigh...

BACK IN OLD ME-HE-CO--

(Superannaulted's cantina/gogo-boy bar):

"SQUUEEEK! SQUEEK!"

A groan from under a wobbly legged cafe table drifted up from the closed taverna's darkened shadows.

"What's that, Marvin, Martin, Martina...whatever the heck your name is-Mouse? A Mason jar is sitting on the stoop with a note in it? And it looks like it's written in crayon?" Rjaye muttered. "Are you sure you're not still drunk from last night...and that the Jar belongs to one of the Bravo Twins?"

The Mouse scurried over to Rjaye, grabbed an earlobe, and bit as hard as it could.

"Oww, ow, ow, you little rotten rat b---Wait? In crayon?"

Rjaye sat up, and slammed his head into the table.

"That can only mean one thing! Jai wrote the note!"

He clambered up, and staggered to the door. Swinging it open, he glanced around, blood dripping from one ear like Van Gogh on his first ear attack.

Picking up the Mason jar, he opened it, and looked in. Then he gagged.

"SA must've gotten this from the Bravo Boys-gak!"

Carefully, Rjaye pulled the note out of the jar, unfolded it and read with squinty eyes.

"The Evil Axis has stolen the Yellow Submarine? Where did he get that idea? There's only one person who would have anything to do with that, and she's in New York City..."

"New York City?!" the Mouse cried. "You don't mean..."

"Yes," Rjaye said profoundly," I. Mean. Her."

dum da dum dum!

"Then I guess I better get some plane tickets to NYC."

Rjaye looked gravely at the Mouse, foam starting to gather at the left corner of his mouth.

"Yes, Mouse-before she flies to England, we must confront the only person who could inspire such a kidnapping of such a precious piece of Beatles' paraphernalia---YOKO ONO!"

Rjaye then peered oddly at the rodent on his shoulder.

"Since when can you talk? And when did I start foaming at the mouth?"

Then Rjaye gently put the Mouse on the sidewalk, out of harm's way.

"Before you get those tickets, Mouse, could you please call the doctor?"

"Why?" asked Mouse.

"Because you gave me rabies, you ratfink @%#&*@!!"

Then Rjaye fell over.

To be con.

12 hours or more?? I could not imagine!!

At night before bed, take a pan of cool water and set it by you - then get a washcloth and wet it well in the water, ring it out, and sit back with your eyes closed and lay cloth - folded - over your eyes. Another thing, the best thing for stress is relaxing music...and I'm not talking about something with a fast beat. Look into new age/dreamscape cds and put them on when you do your homework. It'll relax your heartbeat just enough to stay tuned to your studies

HI EVERYBODY!!!!!

Well, it's me & I'm alive & back in business! I tried to post yesterday, but maybe something's defunct in the system & it didn't go through - or maybe it's this crappy computer, but...I'm going to give it another go.

I feel really bad about not being around, but I was working like CRAZY this summer at the diner place that I told some of you about, but it seems a lot of you may not understand, 'cause it seems to me there are a lot of newbies around (welcome, btw )

So, I'm finally at school here in good, old Maine. I start classes tomorrow (EEK!) I'm actually not too worried, except I can't seem to sign up for the French class I need :grr:, so I'm waiting for the head of the deparment to e-mail be back, so I can figure out what's going on & so I can buy my book. (Yeah - when the French book is bought: ~$340-345 spent on books. How insane is that?)

I really haven't kept up with the shows either. I feel like such a traitor. But, we do have cable in our room, so hopefully basic ME cable around the Portland/Bangor area gets Bravo (cross your fingers!)

I don't know - I'll find a way to stay updated somehow, hopefully. I just wanted to drop by & say that I really missed y'all's company over the summer & it feels good to be back!

~FC86

u missed the show too? i missed it twice, was too tired to wait up till midnight (that's the time the show is being aired). there was once where i fell asleep when i was watchin it. in a way, i missed 3 shows! and i still havent read the book. got it in july and it has been in the same position eversince... sch reopens in 4 days time and i still cant find the time to read it. loads of markings to do and various sch holiday activities to attend to... sigh... once this hols is over i might not be able to drop by again.. i'll try but i doubt i've the time... will only be back in business somewhere late nov...

indeed!

the education system here is tough... they are now moving towards innovation & enterprising or I&E for short.. but at the same time they are still sticking to the written-based assessment... complicated? contradicting?.. i know...

last term, my students were given a project work as part of their assessment, boy! it nearly drive me nuts!! some kids find it very hard to work as a group as they're not use to it... there were a lot of freeloaders... not forgetting arguements/bickerings... imagine, i've a class of 40students! every consultation session was never a peaceful one... besides having to deal with students there's also the parents, a few of them weren't that happy with that method of assessment and they always hv smthg to complain abt...

recently, the prime minister has declared a 5-day week for all civil servants/teachers... i'm really lookin forward to that and the class size has also been decreased to at most 30 students each and there will also be such thing as assistant teacher! yipppeee!!!! i'm jus hopin tt it wont take eons to be implemented

Welcome back, esenkay! Your schedule sounds difficult. What does "innovation and enterprising" mean? Over here there is constantly some new radical program designed to improve schools, but they generally don't seem to accomplish much but make things even more confusing.

Do your schools run six days now? Hope all your improvements come quickly! Are teachers paid well over there?

I really liked the viewer's email of the week. They really sum it up well. And the couple who write is in Texas! I wonder if they know their favorite five are right outside in Dallas....
EMAIL:
"My wife and I have been watching your program for about 4 months now, and we are both extremely impressed! When I first watched the show, I was skeptical. Not about the Fab 5 being gay, I have a couple friends who are gay and it never bothered me. I was just curious about how they'd be able to take a straight guy and re make him without changing him into someone who'd be perceived as gay.

To my surprise, they really did a knock out job! All of the things they talked about made perfect sense, and best yet, they took the time to incorporate the guy's personality with their own visions. It resulted in the new improved look. Now, we watch it daily, and we are amazed every time with what the Fab 5 does. It's jaw dropping. It also deepened my appreciation of the gay community.

I was never homo phobic, but it seemed gays were a separate section of life. Now, I truly appreciate that gays are very much part of our world, and are in no way different than anyone else. The professionalism, energy, compassion, and encouragement they display wow both of us. Though we may never be able to get the items we see them give the straight guys, it has inspired me to change my life in my own little way. Each of the Fab 5's mantras have seeped into my own life. In fact, I've been "trained" to remember things like 1) NO wire hangers... 2) Use product from the back and work to the front 3) putting color on walls and pairing them with complementary furniture makes all the difference, 4) to spoil my wife and let her know daily how special she is, make it all about her, and 5) even a straight guy can learn to cook delicious foods and not just Hamburger Helper!

I know this was long winded, but I really wish you all the best of success in both your personal and professional lives. You have motivated us so much, and though you 5 may never read this personally, I hope my words reach someone who knows Queer Eye for the Straight Guy has done a FABulous job. Keep up the great work.

Sincerely,

Chris & Laura"

Absolutely insane! What's worse, many of those courses change textbooks every year, so you can't even get your money back trying to resell them.

A friend of mine is a math professor at a local college, and she bemoans her department's continuous change of texts, and often to books that aren't very well written or organized. The new books are aimed at teaching students to regurgitate results to equations, not understand what the equations are.

Are you taking French as part of your major? Or as a GUR?

Hope you get to watch QE at your new place. Maybe you'll get the others addicted, and you can have a QE night with appetizers made from Ted's recipes.

Peace and love, Rjaye.

Would the BBB allow me to thank mrsd, and add a remembrance for the 1006 American soldiers who have died in the current Iraqi War (760 in combat), as well as 127 coalition soldiers. We have also lost 132 additional soldiers to the fighting in Afghanistan during this period.

I would also ask if people could find it in their hearts to mourn the approximately 10,000 Iraqi civilians who have died. (I use BBC sources.) It is estimated that half that amount died in the initial invasion.

I will not mention the between 5 and 6 thousand enemy soldiers except to say that some were undoubtably unwilling combatents, and they, as the civilians, leave innocent broken and grieving families behind.
For every of the 1006 American deaths, there are the families, friends, sweethearts, left behind and bereft. There are also 7012 Americans who have been injured, some profoundly, and that impacts loved ones as well as society.
Numbers can only give us the barest hint of how this war has affected our society. And all our prayers are needed for our society to even begin to heal.

I was just about to say the same thing. Last night, I watched a program on the WTC "rise and fall of an american icon") and I was in tears almost the whole time.

My friend's dad was in the tower when the first plane hit. He was on the phone with a business patner and suddenly the line went dead. They heard the explosion, and sooner than later knew that a plane had hit. They rushed down the stairs, but security guards stopped them and told them they would be safe in the building. When they got back up, they saw that the ceiling was starting to cave in. This time, they came all the way down and went out of the tower. In some time during this, one of the towers had collapsed. (I don't know when exactly when they got out, so I don't know all the details.) They ran all the way to the bridge, and his wife and kid didn't know if he was alive of dead until he called from a friend's house a day or so later.

There are many horrific and brave stories from September 11, 2001. May all the people who died in the towers and surrounding buildings be remembered, firefighters, civilians, workers, and all. May peace be uppon the families who suffered during that hard time.

In the course of answering all our questions about Abby's experiences and rescues, the handler had to inform us that Abby was not so much a "rescue" dog as a "recovery" dog....trained to locate human remains. It was a sobering revelation to the group that was gathered around her. We cried and held onto each other for quite awhile. I will never forget that moment. So I will also add a personal thank you to Abby and her handler for her successful recoveries and the comfort I know it gave to the families.

Welcome back Fraggles! i'm just back too! Glad you are enjoying school, I start Uni in 2 weeks and I reckon I'll be forking out the same amount in pounds for my books! I'll be studying French too but I've completely forgotten it over this summer even though I was in France on hol! Trying to speak to the French was extremely difficult, which it shouldn't be!! Yikes! Whereabouts is Maine in America? I have heard of it but I don't know what coast it's on! Is it quite far from Kansas? *star*

Hi all,

I've got a couple of questions seen as I've been away for a wee bit!!

1. I saw Bravo are going to a Queer Eye For The Straight Girl. Are our guys going to be doing this? Is it still going to be in New York? And have they started filming for it?

2. The Fab 5 are currently shooting special episodes in Dallas, yeah? De, have you gotten to see them?

3. These QE UK episodes, are they going to be a regular thing on your TVs or are they just now and again?

4. I bought the QE CD and DVD and it had to be sent back twice because it was faulty! The DVD paused at one point during the behind the scenes on "All Things Keep Getting Better" and then it went out of sync!! Has anybody else had this problem?

I haven't got around to reading all the messages yet so I might not have seen if some of these questions have been answered!! Thanks, *star*

tragedy, we remember and send out our thoughts and prayers to all the families who lost loved ones on that horrible day. You Are Always In Our Hearts.

who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe.
We Love You.

God Bless the souls of the people who lost their lives there
You Are Never Forgotten.

Peace To All mrsd

~BFOJ

I sure know what you mean about tearing up. I always cry at the visions of the twin towers lying in a heap of rubble on the ground. I didn't personally know anyone who was there that day, so I can only imagine how tragic it was for the people who were. You're so right about the many horrific and brave stories. Bless them all for their sacrifice.

Peace mrsd

mrsdee: Bless you for your eloquent reminder. I can only add my expression of gratitude to all the rescue people (and rescue dogs) for their extraordinary efforts during 9/11. The company I work for had made a donation to one of the Search & Rescue Dog organizations and, as a result, we were visited by one of the rescue workers who brought her dog, Abby. Again, My apologies for failing to include another group who had a tremendous role in the weeks and months following the tragedy, The tireless rescuers who spent days at a time,
most often with very little rest, in the hope of finding a survivor, or worse, the body of a friend or co-worker. They, along with their search & rescue animals deserve a huge SALUTE. God Bless Your Souls. And to anyone who I've forgotten to mention, like the people behind the scenes that kept the whole thing going (think John KilCooley).
Thank you for your dedication.

I hope you're taking care of you on the other side of the planet! ...You have my sympathy about the sneezing - it's coughing with me, though. Poor folks must think an old Model T-Ford car is coming with my "Kahooooogah" coughs! They're pretty loud. Hummmm... Anyone on the coast's have a light house in need of a fog horn?
Peace and hugs, hon. --De

Beautiful thought MrsDee...

So many were lost... and for you who live in the New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Washington DC areas - this is a time for poignat reflection with greater intensity than many of us will ever know.

For the Firefighters, (John K.) Police, Military, the Port Authority Police, Coast Guard, State Troopers, Postal Employees, (Jeff Toale), Nurses, Doctors, EMS Personell, Chaplains, Paramedics, Construction Workers, FEMA Personell, Hazmat Teams, Red Cross Workers, Counselors, and all who worked so tirelessly in the aftermath of September 11th 2001 - Thank you.

To the families of those whose dedication put them in the line of fire - and cost them their lives - may God lay his hand on your hearts today.

For the people lost in the Twin Towers, on the planes, and at the Pentagon - we remember you - and honor this memory. You will not be forgotten. You were from all points of the globe and all walks of life. You are missed, dear children.

A Psalm that meant a lot to me in those days:

Excerpts from Psalm 91:
He who dwells in the shadow of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust!"...

You will not be afraid of the terror by night, or of the arrow that flies by day; of the pestilance that stalks in the darkness, or of the destruction that lays waste at noon...

For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, lest you strike your foot against a stone...

"He will call upon me, and I will answer Him. I will be with him in trouble..."

I pray for all the Military folks overseas - and their families here at home. I pray for the people all over the globe facing the ravages of terrorist's hatefilled acts.

May there be peace on earth - goodwill toward men.
Love to all of you, darlings. --De

You know - I can't laugh and cough at the same time! Bad Kitty!

Actually - for a minute there, I thought they'd be able to get here in time for educating the idiots that don't understand the concept of hydroplaning in the rain when you try 70+ mph on an wet oily freeway! LOL!

(Black Ice on I-45's no picknic for YOU I'm sure... how often do you see that, anyway?)

I'm glad Kyan at least headed futher south... Would love to know if he and Greg got to play on 6th street there in Austin! (Ooooooo... my memory is paleolithic... is 6th street still wicked wild?)

Peace pets... it's a warmer 80*F today... and the Fair's in town! (I'd better get well quick!)
Hugs to all! --De

Let's not, and say we did! LOL! - since "Alexander Greenbriar" is me, and "Agatha Avenida Colonia" is you! LOL! ...As Whiskers said... VERY, VERY GAY! LOL!

I'm curious what everyone's favorite episode is? Mine is definitely the one with Richard Miller. The message of that episode was so strong, and that man was a true gem. Hooray for Richard!

Richard and his lovely wife and children were good people and the show in the top 5. But my favorite transformation was Butch S. He was a diamond in the rough. And he was easy-going (to a point) without compromising too much.

Hi all, I've got a couple of questions seen as I've been away for a wee bit!!
1. I saw Bravo are going to a Queer Eye For The Straight Girl. Are our guys going to be doing this? Is it still going to be in New York? And have they started filming for it?No sweets, it's a different trio. It's filming in Los Angeles, California - and it's in pre-production now.
2. The Fab 5 are currently shooting special episodes in Dallas, yeah? De, have you gotten to see them?**Weep, weep, cry, sputter** While you were gone my folks and I finished the move to Abilene - 3+ highway hours away. I'm stuck, darlin - and I can't believe I'm not there to see those beautiful men... such is my life.
3. These QE UK episodes, are they going to be a regular thing on your TVs or are they just now and again? So far they're just saying it's for September. Personally - I've been so terribly curious, that I'm dying to see them all - wheather I like them or not. I hear there are Australian editions in pre-production too. I like getting to see the shops and homes in Brittain. ...But then again, I'm a fan of the Travel Channel...the Home and Garden Network... the Weather Channel... and TLC's "Trading Spaces" and the Discovery Channel... so getting to see QE epi's from other countries is really COOL to me!
4. I bought the QE CD and DVD and it had to be sent back twice because it was faulty! The DVD paused at one point during the behind the scenes on "All Things Keep Getting Better" and then it went out of sync!! Has anybody else had this problem? Not I, said De.
I haven't got around to reading all the messages yet so I might not have seen if some of these questions have been answered!! Thanks, *star*
