In the Thursday edition of the Dallas Morning News there is suppose to be a guide to the QE while they are in town. So I will on the look out for that. BTW...Thom did make a book signing appearance just down the street from me at a Pier 1. Of course I found out about that the next day! It would be nice if they let us know beforehand !

This probably belongs on "Hints and Tips", but in this age of e-mail and cell-phone, I think that any man who took the time out to handwrite a meaningful poem (not a love-poem per se) would definitely impress. And then later, when able, to buy the book as a gift.. Mine came from- "Evangeline and Other Poems".
And the third gift is the reading of it..
Sigh... a man after my own heart... the good ones really ARE all gay.... sigh.

It was a while ago. Kyan and Ted did an apperance together to promote their book. They were both exactly as they seem on the show. Very nice, funny & cute as heck!!! Same with Carson, who I saw at a separate appearance.

Reality As They Know It; One hectic day in the lives of four power brokers
{snip}
The Talent Scout
Danielle Eifler's job at Queer Eye is to search for the perfect schlub.
She confesses, "No, I've never gotten a manicure or a pedicure. Not once...I never use cologne; Well, I use my own scent...I got my TV for $100 bucks from my neighbor. Everyone I know is broke."
Such are the early-morning woes of slob-dom being grunted at Danielle Eifler, casting director for Scout Productions' Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.
It's 9 a.m. and the hyper-chatty 28-year-old is videotaping a dingy third-floor walkup apartment on New York's Upper West Side. She pans the smoke-filled living room and zeroes in on its T-shirt and corduroy-clad tenant, a 28-year-old waiter pleading with her from his ripped lime-green sofa to choose him for a makeover by the show's Fab Five.
Bleary-eyed from three apartment visits in Brooklyn the night before, Eifler is casing out every inch of the minuscule disaster area, from the contents of its fridge (a large vat of margarine, some old bread) to the paint-chipped walls. Eifler is also checking out the size of candidates' homes for camera-readiness. This one is a bit small, she thinks.
The home visits get tough. "It's mentally and physically exhausting," she confides. "You're in someone else's space, and I don't want to sound creepy, but if there's a dirty vibe, you take that on." Can you imagine how she felt in Kevin's (comedian) place? Ewww
En route to the office after the half-hour apartment visit, Eifler talks about her job and admits, "It's really stressful. Knowing the success of the show rests on you finding a guy, that's big."
For the actress-turned-"talent" scout, 15-hour workdays are nothing new, especially as the breakout Bravo hit strives to stay fresh and on the air.
And she's not meeting beautiful people, either.
Back at the office, she grabs a quarter of a bagel from the show's well-stocked kitchen before rushing downstairs to greet the first of 25 makeover hopefuls she will tape in back-to-back five-minute interviews that day.
Eifler's got it down to a science. One by one, the straight guys, varying in sloppiness and nervousness, are ushered in. They hand over home photos, and Eifler mikes them and fires away:
"So how's it going? Where do you shop? So you owned a business at 12. What's that about? Do you have holiday traditions? What's your favorite thing about yourself? Are you willing to change that facial hair? Can I see you without your glasses? Ever considered contacts? Can you handle a group of five gay guys?"
It takes the New Hampshire native about 30 seconds to know if she's got a keeper. "When it's that good, it's like BOOM, that's the one."
Casting is crucial. Although the show is still Bravo's biggest hit, drawing five times the 18-49 audience of its other shows, viewership for this summer's 10-episode season was down 44% to an average 1.04. Eifler spends up to six
weeks casting each episode.
She and two assistants spend up to three hours daily plowing through the more than 100 write-ins the show's Web site gets each day from sloppy schmos or their thoughtful (?) friends.
With rare exception, straight guys are out if they're too tall or brawny (Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger don't make clothes in big sizes) or if they or their relatives live too far away. Eifler also wants great stories, humor,
quirkiness and a willingness to change.
"We get guys who wear the same socks all week, don't wash their hair or eat tuna out of a can, but if you have no events coming up and your family lives in Oregon, we're going to reject you," she said. (Queer Eye does do special episodes out of town.)
Part of Eifler's job is to find certain types of guys (cabbies, for instance) or men in certain situations. Currently, Queer Eye is trying to cast a couple who are going to be married.
She has recruited more than 130 couples by posting ads to Craigslist, scouring bridal registries, plastering flower shops with fliers and blitzing out more than 50,000 e-mails.
It's tough. But there are upsides, like seeing her scruffy Neanderthals transformed into hunks. "All the guys who've been on send insane thank-you notes," she said. "They really experience something enormously changing, and
they truly come out a better person on the other side."
Unfortunately, none of the interviewees this morning are doing it for Eifler.
"The hardest part of my job is the frustration of not finding the piece of the puzzle. It's a matter of turning over a million stones," she says. "After you've turned over 999,000 and you can't believe you have to turn over more, then all of a sudden that stone you turn over is the diamond in the rough, it's the guy ."

From the Sun-Sentinel:
Straight talk from Carson
OK, I'm going to write this as straight as I possibly can. Queer Eye for the Straight Guy's very own Carson Kressley has written a book titled Off the Cuff: The Essential Style Guide for Men and the Women Who Love Them (Dutton, $24.95), which hits shelves Sept. 27.
The charming, tres-blond, wickedly funny uber-fashionista who became the breakout star from the Fab Five gives us in book form what he (and a gazillion TV clones like him) does regularly in broadcasts: make us all manic about makeovers.
As on the TV program, Kressley's bon mots and advice run the gamut from, "Going sockless can add a Waspish joie de vivre to your look," to "Sweatshirts are only for the gym, people."
The book has plenty of illustrations by Jason O'Malley, but -- in true fashion-diva mode -- all of the photographs are of Kressley himself in the role of male model.
"This book is an easy, step-by-step guide to help you know what to wear and when, what to get rid of, and how you can shop, whether it's at Neiman Marcus or T.J. Maxx," Kressley said in press materials.
Here are some more of his pearls of wardrobe wisdom:
The devil wears pleated khakis: "I'm on a mission to eradicate pleated pants in America. Pleats are always the wrong answer."
Cashmere is seasonless: "Wear it in winter. Wear it in summer. Wear it to bed and to garden in for all I care, but cashmere is never, ever the wrong answer."
The Art of the Tszuj: "It just means tweak it, finesse it, make it personal; a little roll of the cuff, tweak of the collar or pushing up the sleeves."
Don't overdo it: "You want to be noticed for a look that's yours, and not because you look clownish and inspire the Barnum & Bailey theme song."
Disregard trends: "You shouldn't wear something just because it's the fashion moment ... The biggest fashion faux pas is trying to look like someone else."
Comb-overs: "Hi, your reality check bounced. You're not fooling anyone."
Waxing: "If you're at the beach and people are complimenting you on your sweater and you're not wearing one, we've got a back-hair situation people. I call this profusion of body hair `Mangora.'"
Oh yes, Kressley can be quite the queerleader for dressing for inspiration while going from ratty to natty.
"Absolutely everyone can dress well. And it doesn't have to be scary. It doesn't matter where you come from. It only matters where you're going. Don't dream it, be it, people. Life isn't about finding yourself; it's about creating yourself."
Aside from being a nationally ranked equestrian, Kressley is also a fashion expert for Us magazine and has degrees in finance and fine art from Gettysburg College (magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa).

'Queer' guys lock horns
The Queer Eye for the Straight Guy Fab Five have been watching too many reruns of Dallas. They brought their version of the Batmobile – their black Queer Eye Chevy Suburban – down with them from New York. But it has been modified.
The Queer Eye cruiser showed up for a shopping spree at West Village on Wednesday with a set of longhorns attached to the hood.
Monday night, design doctor Thom Filicia stayed at Tom Tom Noodle House in West Village until closing time. On Wednesday, witty Carson Kressley showed up for lunch

you're always complaining about how the guys you makeover shave "too fast" or in the "wrong direction". however my mom and i have noticed that you never tell them the correct way to shave either. just a little bit of viewer input

I think they want to see if the guys will shave the proper way, but you have to remember that there are 80 hours of tape that they have to condense into 49 minutes episodes so they may not show everything. Who knows maybe the guys do say it, but then again maybe they dont. Plus hello they are busy and do have to get a lot done in a short period of time. I mean they are busy.
Ok so I put in my two cents on the subject. I am sorry if it came out rude it wasnt intended to.

I don't think that it is off-topic...it's about them! Anyway, I agree with Heaven. They can only show so much. Some of the SGs actually do a good job. I think that Kyan thinks that they all ready know how to shave. Kind of like Ted thinks thay they all ready know how to boil water. Besides that, it makes the viewers laught when you see a SG practically shaving off his face.

As to your question, yes, I'm a native of the Philippines -- I had the good fortune to receive my early education in the American (now International) School in Manila. That, and my mother being a teacher, may account for my proficiency in the English language. ^___^
I have every hope of coming back to the boards often -- though being so far behind, episodes-wise, I'll prolly stick to the general forums. It's going to be tricky monitoring where I posted last if I keep to the threads for the old episodes!

From the Dallas Morning News:
The Eyes of Texas
When it comes to insta-celebrities birthed by television, the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy Fab 5 are rivaled only by The Monkees and the Partridge Family. While they're in Dallas shooting episodes for their show, the boys have been all over town. Just a mere glimpse of Carson Kressley elicits squeals reminiscent of the days of Davy Jones and David Cassidy.
As the summer ends and the Gulfstreams start heading back from Aspen and La Jolla, the Fab 5 have been livening up our little backwater with surprise appearances and witty bons mots.
All the patrons at Local in Deep Ellum tried to be blasé as Queer Eye guy Kyan Douglas came in for dinner. But the din of people whispering, "That's Kyan from Queer Eye," like a mantra was almost deafening.
The fashionable crowd tried not to stare, but there must have been a lot of weak bladders in the house, because hordes of people were suddenly heading to the bathroom so they could walk by and get a gander at Kyan.
Following a party for the stars at the downtown Neiman's, they headed out for some serious R&R. Some of the Queer Eye guys headed for the nightclub strip on Cedar Springs, where they stayed until the wee hours

Hi! I'm a huge 'Queer Eye...' fan from England. Yes, we do have our own version but, to be honest, no one makes gay guys like America! I'm here to pay my respects to the Greatest TV Show Ever (and I thought I'd never find anything to fill the gaping 'Friends'-shaped gap in my Friday nights!)- all the guys are fantastic but Ted and Jai are definitely my favourites. This is from our timid (at least in this instance) Ms. Thomasulo! She thinks it's a silly fantasy, I say it's a beautiful thing
Here's her vision:
(Song lyrics changed from See That Girl by The Righteous Brothers)
See that guy...
Look at him good.
That's something you
don't see every day now.
Dig those eyes...
Ain't they a prize?
They sure can get to you,
and, hey now,
Look at that crazy smile
I bet you can't believe
He was mine for awhile,
Ain't he somethin'?
See that guy...
Right by his side.
He's feelin' proud and
don't he show it.
Look and see
That could have been me.
Would you believe I'd go
and blow it?
I let him slip away,
And I tell myself I'm okay
But it just tears the heart
out of me
When I see that guy.
(break)
I let him slip away
And I tell myself I'm okay
But it just tears the heart
out of me
When I see that guy
When I see that guy
When I see that guy
Video
Woman watching a home movie of Thom and friends having fun at the beach.
Zooms in on a close-up of Thom's face smiling and waving at the camera.
Thom and woman walking on the beach holding hands, talking and laughing.
Woman looking at a magazine photo of Thom sitting next to his boyfriend at the Emmy awards.
Thom and the woman, alone and talking. With tears in his eyes, Thom reaches for her but she pulls away and walks out the door.
During the instrumental break, theres a dream sequence, Thom and woman dancing in a spotlight on an empty, dark dance floor. They slowly separate with outstretched arms, hands reaching then parting as dream fades.
Woman is watching through window, Thom and his boyfriend walking on the street. Thom stops but the boyfriend continues for a few steps. Thom turns to look up at the window.

Hi all. Finally coming out of the shadows for my first post after a year plus of lurking around the boards. I feel as if I know all of you personally. Have been absolutely entertained by the mini-series antics of SA,RJAYE,Notey,My_Guy_Ky,CW,Raindog and numerous others involved.My_Guy_Ky.......having your way with Kyan after the prune incident had me ROTFLMBO. TTB and DE....you both are soooo easy to know and love. Okay girls.....better slide over...another Thom wife is among you. Just add me to the Harem. Also waving to the rest of the Thom wives, C.I.T's, Kyanites, Jai Angels,Teddy Grahams and Fivers out there. Oh, Thomasulo. I darn near wore out my re-wind button trying to get a better look at " the bracelet ". What a tribute from Thom that he would wear it on a show knowing that you would see it. His personality shines through so brightly. What a honey !!!!! Hope to be here often now that I figured out how to use the boards.

YAAAYYYY, ANOTHER FELLOW THOM WIFE! Omg, yes you must have been reading faithfully because you know all the fan names including Teddy Grahams!
I would calculate your number into the harem but my calculator exploded, the beads fell off my abacus, and when I tried to bring the calculator up on the computer, a screen came up saying "IF YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT TRYING TO CALCULATE ANYMORE THOM WIVES, I'LL ERASE ALL YOUR THOM PICTURES!!" You can imagine my shock, I thought my computer loved me! So if you want your official Thom wife and Freak Fan certificate, email me and I'll send you the link

None that my brain can ever remember, luv - lol! You did hear that our boys are in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas, right? They will be down there for 2 more weeks. They are also heading over to London! There's no specific date that I know of for that but someone here on the boards, maybe a brit, would probably know better than I.
Glad to see you back around, youngun - {{{HUGS}}}

I'm trying to wait till my local mall carries the calendar but with these rave reviews I may have to order it off the net!
Enjoyed all the Kyan tips last night. To quote Thom "Oooh Lord!" But I still wish they wouldn't have edited the Thom thread count tip-that is a QE classic!
There's a QE calendar! OMG! Have I missed something? Where can you get it? *star86*
Right now, Amazon.com seems to be the most reliable route - friggin' book stores!

All my efforts have paid off! I found out that some of them were hanging out at the clubs, so last night I ran into Jai! I have carried my book around with me everywhere, so he signed it for me. He was so nice and we chatted about the episodes that they are doing here. Jai was so kind and is just as gorgeous in person. I really appreciate the time he took out just to chat with me! He even told me he hoped that I got to meet the other guys as well. Oh and BTW, he is a great dancer.
Thanks so much JAI!
OMG, WTG!! Did you dance with him? Did you see any of the others?

OK I just got the newest issue of O magazine and I wanted to say that Thom's article in there is way to small. I think the guys should come out with a QE magazine. What do you guys think? A QE Magazine.
Love Always

That was something we talked about here in the forums late last year and we thought we heard something about it happening but nope, nothing ever came of it - despite everyone pledging their subscription before it would even be released!
TTB.. what do you think about fanzines? That would be right in your area of expertise. Of course you would have to be FAIR.. It couldn't be all THOM!

Welcome to the forum! I'm glad that this board has held your interest for so long, and that you're no longer a stranger. And when you found my stories entertaining, that made my day! I just wanna reach out into cyberspace and give you a great big {{{{{HUG!}}}}} "Ooh, honey, little slice of heaven."
