"Onkel SA! Onkel SA!" Rjaye screamed.
"Now, quit screaming, Rjaye-you're not going into the closet under the stairs!" Onkel SA called. "Yet," he said to himself.
"Cousin Thom's Teddy Bear is out cold in the hallway-I think she's on a bender!"
"Rjaye! Shame on you! You know Cousin TTB has a rare medical condition that causes her to go into Tasmanian fits, and knock herself out on inanimate objects!" Onkel scolded. He zipped up his stylish work-out jacket. "I should have gotten the cashmere," he thought.
Rjaye, chastened, clasped his little well manicured hands in front of his Klingon jammied tummy.
"What the hell am I wearing?" he said under his breath.
"Onkel SA!" howled MGK, pink nightie dusting the floor as she jumped up and down.
"Now what, young woman? We're never going to get this story started," moaned Onkel SA.
"Notey stuck my Barbie in the microwave, and he's making GI Joe and Ken sleep in the Barbie Beach House! He knows that 600 thread count sheets are only for girls!"
"Huh UH!" snarked Cousin Notey, and continued to pull Barbie's wardrobe out of the pink beach house. He was replacing it with much more stylish doll couture for Ken and Joe.
"Though Notey could've been more polite about it, 600 count sheets are for EVERYONE-boys and girls," SA explained to his young charges. MGK scowled.
"Just for that," she muttered to the boys in a low enough voice so that Onkel didn't hear,"you can't use the Barbie Pink Corvette for Ken and Joe's commitment ceremony!"
"Onkel SA!" Rjaye howled.
"Sheesh, you screech a lot! Dogs have gone deaf for a three block radius and now I have ringing in my ears," Notey snapped, and stuck a finger in his ear as if trying to dig out the annoying tone.
"Children, children!! If you don't calm down, there will be no story!" Onkel warned.
"Shouldn't we try to prop Cousin TTB up or something?" Notey said as he closed the Beach House carefully so nothing was disturbed inside of it.
MGK grabbed Barbie's clothes up with a growl.
"Cousin TTB will come to on her own-if we try to sit her up or help her to bed, it would be like trying to help someone who's sleepwalking--they'll attack to protect themselves!" Onkel SA explained.
The kids looked at each other with jaded looks.
"Honestly!" Onkel SA said. He settled into the overstuffed club chair, thankful a certain Fab Fiver wasn't missing it from his large estate up state. Of course, Thom hadn't been to his manor house for quite a while, and had no idea that most of SA's house was furnished with lovely pieces from a variety of highbrow furniture houses.
"Now gather 'round, kiddies," SA said gently.
The little ones climbed up onto his lap or the arm of the chair. Rjaye poked MGK in the ribs.
"I'll trade you these Star Trek jammies for your pink ones,"
he whispered.
MGK became thoughtful.
"If you throw in the bunny slippers, I'll think about it,"
she said noncommittally.
"And speaking of thinking about it-Rjaye?" SA said authoritatively.
Rjaye looked up.
"Please think about leaving the lotion in the bathroom from now on, and not in the closet under the stairs," he said sternly.
"Ew! I thought you said he was practicing for the Gay Olympics!" MGK said to Notey as Notey snickered.
To be con. (Please, Onkel SA!)
Love and peace, Rjaye.

Sigh - the dragon's have been slain! Those long threads that came before are doomed to be pushed far into the back boards since they can no longer be bumped up with a post. And we can no longer quote long past material...
Ok... for the head of the thread - I'm posting this little note for the Newbies sure to come in the future...
Greetings and welcome to the Forum, dear ones!
So many dear people come by and ask the same things as the dear folks that came before... that I just thought I'd stick a few things on the head of this thread.
I already listed the Scout Productions address that was current (as of this date) on the head of the "Hip Tips" Thread. I put the instructions for how to make Italics and Bold lettering and Colored Text as well as all the smilies I knew how to do ( for example ) on the beginning of the "Comments" Thread. I even wrote about how to 'list' things and how to start your own subjects on that same thread. I listed the Fab 5's Birthdays, and known romances (per this date) over on "Comments" also.
What I didn't mention was how to make quotations of multiple posters. When you hit the "Quote" button - it automatically puts the previous post on the screen for you to edit at will - and add your message. As long as everything falls inside the [ quote ] and [ /quote ] commands, their words will be set apart. You must make sure that YOUR note falls outside of the [ /quote ] in order to not be caught up in their post. By the way, when I demonstrate the command, I have to add spaces so it will show up here. When you actually use the command - remember not to put spaces or upper case letters within the brackets.
You cannot hit the "quote" button on multiple posts and have them appear in your one reply box. You must either cut and paste their words, or hand type them in to create a post with more than one quote in it.
You can also make multiple comments about ONE person's post by breaking it up with quotes. Either way - you must type the command [ quote ] at the beginning of what you wish to quote and [ /quote ] at the end of your quotation in order for it to fall into the quotation box.
Gee... was THAT clear as mud, or what?
Besides our replendent Gentlemen Five's Birthday's - we know that Carson recently guest starred in a movie with Hillary Duff, Heather Locklear and Chris Noth called "The Perfect Man" set to Premiere in the summer of '05, and he has a book coming out called, "Off The Cuff" in September '04. He is the spokesperson for Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers - make sure to tell pfgoldfish.com that you appreciate that!
Kyan has a book coming out in October '04 called, "Beautified." he is currently appearing at charity functions around the country.
Ted wrote several books while at Esquire Magazine: "Esquire's Things A Man Should Know About Style,"
"Esquire's Things A Man Should Know About Marriage," "Esquire's Things A Man Should Know About Sex," and "Esquire's Things A Man Should Know About Handshakes, White Lies, and Which Fork Goes Where." He is currently working on a cookbook. We haven't seen a title or release date yet. Ted is the spokesman for Perrier and Smirnof Vodka.
Jai Is performing thru most of August '04 in the Broadway show, "RENT" as Angel. His CD release has been put on hold. The upper eschelon say they don't know how to "package" an openly gay singer. (Hello? Elton John, Freddy Mercury, George Michael, Boy George?) Jai has been contracted to sponsor a breathmint - but I have yet to see the commercials.
Thom has his own design firm in NYC, "Thom Filicia Inc." and is the spokesperson for Pier 1, and has helped with special promotions with such companies as Xerox, and Olympus Cameras.
Our dear Gentlemen Five have been recently honored with 3 Emmy nominations - and the show will broadcast September 19, 2004.
Our posts go up here twice a day. The second thread on the main board is permenantly affixed, and on it you will find the next scheduled posting time. Posts are almost never put up over the weekend.
I hope this helps you dear new folks!
Please let me encourage you to seek out the old threads and enjoy reading all the madness there. Remember - look at the date on the posts you wish to quote. If it is many weeks or months ago, the person who posted may no longer visit here - or the issue may be long dead. ...Just a reminder.
Peace and grace to you all! Joy and love in your world today! --De

"I saw what looked like a wedding ring on the left hand
of QUEER EYE FOR THE STRAIGHT GUY's Ted Allen. Did
he marry his longtime partner? -- Annedria B. Louisianna
"I'm glad someone noticed," says the 39-year-old food and
wine expert. "We haven't gotten officially married, because
we're so crazed with the show, but we're definately going
to." Allen's partner is Barry Rice, a journalism professor
he met in Chicago 11 years ago; each has been wearing a
ring that long. Their first rings were Irish Claddagh rings
they wore on their right hands to distinguish themselves
from straight married couples. Now they wear platinum bands
and Allen says he likes to get his on camera: "I'm proud of
it."
Oh, dearest Teddy - if you DID read the
Bravo forums, you'd know we scoped that ring from the first
time it hit the QE screen! Congrats, darlin! And maybe when
y'all have a little time off at Christmas - you can have
that Ceremony! (I wonder if the boys will help in the setup!

Someone recently posted a beautiful photo of Ted and Barry on Carson's new site. In honour of Ted, I would repost the tribute ticktick first posted on General Comments in 2003.Quote:
ticktick posted:
Ted, I feel is so overlooked by fans of the show. You hoooooorrrible people.
Ted is so gentlemanly, so urbane. Poor guy has the hardest, most tricky, segment to cover. He must watch run-throughs of the show, screaming into his hands.
Well I certainly sit and chew my fingernails to the elbow watching the made - over guy flailing desperately to reproduce the supper dish menu Ted has taken them through beforehand.
I used to work for a sweety like Ted. We must look after any guy who is a sweety.
So, to honour Ted. Heads up! If you are a guy - learn to make a variety of classically simple dressings, sauces, stocks and techniques like how to make a perfect green salad with perhaps a fetta garnish or warm, crispy, bacon or a simple omelette. You can pull off a smart supper date with the simplest of dishes.
Learn words like "julienne, saute, fold." Have more than a can-opener in your kitchen - drawer.
If you are broke and you have a looming supper date - a really simple and utterly satisfying combination that is not going to cripple your wallet, is a platter of toasted flat breads, spreads and dips like hummus and tapenades; babaganoush and tzatziki.
Hopelessly broke? Lightly grill some flat Turkish/Lebanese bread, slather it with Greek yoghurt and delicately sprinkle over some fine rock salt....not handfuls - sprinkles!
Crispy, piquant and it might mean you have enough money left over to buy a slightly classier wine or amp up the flowers for the table.
As we have seen with the last straight guy Michael-the-cop- who-doesn't-boil-liquid-for-pasta-cooking, Ted sometimes over-estimates straight guy cooking skills and common sense-ie. lighting candles as they sit inside a wooden bookcase! He even thought one straight guy would know how to use a corkscrew! But these understandable miscalculations provide much comedy for those of us who cook on a daily basis..
I would like to add that Ted's eleven year marriage is an inspiration to me. It speaks volumes about the quality of men that Ted and Barry must be. And I hope that they find time to be alone and that their marriage glides over all pitfalls of celebrity. Barry looks strong and with a sense of humor so I have no doubt that they are enjoying the adventure together as much as possible. And I hope they are aware of the wonderful example their love gives all people, and especially gay couples considering marriage.

'QUEER EYE' GUY HAS EYE ON SCOTTSDALE
Thom Filicia swept into offices of Mad Science of Scottsdale with hugs for
everyone and enough one-liners for an upcoming episode.
The Interior Design Doctor of Bravo's Queer Eye for the Straight Guy was in
town as part of a $125,000 makeover the office received through Entrepreneur
magazine and Xerox Corp.
"I love that you brought the dog," Filicia said to a woman in the crowd
carrying a long-haired Maltese. "Living accessories are the new things. If
your accessories aren't alive, your fashion is dead."
Filicia, who wore flip-flops, jeans, and a red belt with a silver eagle
buckle, is one of five gay men in the hit show, out to make over the world one
straight guy at a time.
Filicia, who was raised in upstate New York and attended Syracuse University,
was discovered for Queer Eye when he was trapped in an elevator in Manhattan
with his dog and someone who was helping to cast the show. She found him very
entertaining.
"I swear to God that's what happened," he said . "It's kind of crazy."
Since then, he's had guest appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Tonight
Show with Jay Leno and The View and has been written up in publications
ranging from Teen Vogue to the New York Times.
But none of that seems to faze Filicia.
With an entourage of press, he went from room to room evaluating obsolete and
"tragic" aesthetics in the Mad Science office. "We are going to take the
shabby out of shabby chic and just leave the chic," he said.
Filicia was particularly impressed by the office color scheme of yellow, green
and purple.
"It's like a color wheel," said Filicia. "It's like living in a mood ring."
Filicia was also awed by a small boom box used for music in one of the
offices.
"Did this come from Barbie's Dream House?" he teased. "This is so gay. I can't
believe it. It's adorable."
And while acknowledging great respect for the Mad Science business, which
produces children's science programs, he said that as far as the office
remake, "We will have no problem moving forward."

Putting on the glitz
The glitterati showed up in droves Friday night for Marshall Field's Glamorama fashion show--and glam it was. The Commodores, Patti LaBelle, Boy George and Sheila E. all performed at the Chicago Theatre while sexy Ford models boogied out on stage wearing couture by the likes of Oscar De La Renta and Stella McCartney.
Labelle closed the show singing "Lady Marmalade" with help from some new bosom buddies (some of whom should sing backup for William Hung) whom she pulled from the audience.
After the show, the guests walked over to Marshall Field's for the extravagant afterparty. Actress Kelly Hu, "Queer Eye's" Ted Allen, Bill Rancic, Oprah's decorator Nate Berkus and David Schwimmer were a few of the stars who mingled with friends while kicking back cocktails in the VIP room. Allen gave me the scoop for this season's "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." "We're going to make over a frat house," Allen said. "And we're making over a cowboy."

Ok, if you don't know the group Journey then you won't get this song
*Sung to "Only The Young" by Journey*
ONLY THOM'S WIVES
Every night and in each town
you can hear the thunder of their cries
the one million wives -
they wonder why
They see him on another page
and ask "Did you see him, Dawn"
I say "I'm dead, carry on.
His love can't be wrong"
Only Thom's wives can say
they're free to love that way
sharing the same desire
consumed by wildfire
They're not expecting promises,
throughout their lives they dare to tell
how he makes their hearts swell -
how in love they had fell
Only Thom's wives can say
they're free to love that way
sharing the same desire
consumed by wildfire
*instrumental guitar solo*
Only Thom's wives can say
they're free to love that way
sharing the same desire
consumed by wildfire
Only Thom's wives can say
Only Thom's wives can say

Only Thom's wives can say

ONLY THOM'S WIVES
Every night and in each town
you can hear the thunder of their cries
the one million wives -
they wonder why...
OMG - as one of the many Thom's wives, I trully have tears in my eyes.....thank you TTB......

TTB: Boy, you weren't kidding! So glad you warned me that the enlargement of Thom's picture was....well.....LARGE! I could suggest Neosporin but I really think in this case kissing the boo boo would be the right treatment for the little cut on his forehead......strictly from a medical standpoint of course.

Sorry for the late notice, but I saw on another board that Carson will be appearing Thursday, Aug 19 (TONIGHT) on "The Gramham Norton Effect', which airs on Comedy Central at 10pm (eastern).
I've never heard of this show. I'm assuming it's a talk show with comedy (seeing what channel it's on). Anybody know?

I have heard of it, in an article. Graham Norton is a Brittish gay man who does comedy. (I think) I can see why he is having Carson on the show. You can see this for an article. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5271366/

Hopefully kissing the monitor transfers the potency

OMG!! Thank you! I think I've seen a blip
of this show while flipping channels... He's blond, and
gay, and a comedic talk show host from the UK... right?
(Where's our British fandom when we need them? ...Hey!
Where's Star86 from Scotland??? We're missing a bunch of
peeps again!! Forget the "Bat" signal - someone run back
to NYC and light up the QE signal!!!)
ANYWAY Thanks for the heads up!!! I'll have my VCR
prepped and ready!!
Peace hon! --De

Is he really? Wow, i love Grahm, and i love Carson. okay, so here's the dish, Grahm Norton is british and he is a talk show host... and he's gay! he is like a gay Joan Rivers, without the fashoin sense. lol. so that ought to be a hilarious show. but i warn you, Grahm is not a kid's show, lol, he is raunchy, and hilariously funny! it ought to be a great show, thanx for the heads up hun!

GASP!!!! Thanks for posting this!! I had no idea, and I LOVE Graham Norton. He's an Irish comedian/talk show host. He's got a British talk show that airs on BBC America - The Graham Norton Show, very appropriately. Oddly I've never watched the Comedy Central version which is very recent. I keep forgetting about it, even though I'm very interested in seeing how he translates to American TV.

Oh, and Graham Norton is flamboyantly gay and hysterically funny. This will be great!
