How juvenille of you to assume 1) that just because I have good online grammar that must mean I have no life and 2) that you have ever entertained me. I guess owning my own business and being a newlywed don't count as real life??? BTW, I just joined this blog yesterday because I was so enraged at the PR finale. I hardly consider that long enough to abandon the "outside world". Oh and as for me taking advantage of my life outside of a computer? I'll consider that accomplished when I have sex with my husband tonight. A G A I N and A G A I N.
I don't know if I need to hear this unless you're going to give up details. I need positions, length and width, if you please. ROTF
Thank you for your indulgence.

Jeffrey can't hold a candle to Chloe.
If Heidi Klum said that I would believe it, from you I don't.
Heidi is in a position to know, you are not.
FYI: Just because someone wears designer clothes doesn't mean they know a thing about design. It's called having a professional stylist-you don't really think Heidi Klum puts all her own outfits together, do you?!?
You missed my point.
Someone who has watched two seasons of Project Runway episodes on television is in no position to judge or compare the designers work.
Someone who has had the opportunity to look at their work first hand is in a better position to know who does better work.
Actually no I didn't miss your point. I disagreed with it. And fashion is designed for people like me, so yes I am in a position to judge what I do and don't consider fashionable. From what I've been reading on here so far, the vast majority seem to agree with me. Even if Heidi did see the creations close up, she was still obviously blind to good taste.
anybody who has seen the clothes Heidi has paraded around in this season knows her fashion sense is lacking. She is just lucky she is fabulously beautiful because those clothes on anyone else would look pretty awful.
tam the judges need a lesson in fashion. heidis clothes look awful. most of the time she looked like a clown or street walker. michael kors wears the same clothes all the time n nina is no better. maybe they can get judges that actually are real people to judge next year. and dont hurry to leave i will miss you.

right now I am not posting anything about Jeffrey, its all been said, and I wish him sincere good luck with his lovely family ( hey it was her birthday (his gf) when he won, so they will have two things to celebrate together )
Besides my boyfriend liked Jeffrey's music and collection best of all. Swedes! lol
Anyway, I was just watching Laura and Uli et al and their collections once again! Laura and Uli just thrilled me
Did you see Tim give Laura that great big hug when her show was over? Nice I adored Uli's show too it just rocked. I actually cried a bit when they showed it was just too lovely.
I will keep this video forever. This was the best show ever. Laura, Uli, Jeffrey would have won any previous season had they showed those collections.
good stuff

Two days later and I still can't believe the final judgement. However, I think I've come to understand the reason for Michael's undue criticsm: his collection was too "ethnic" for the judges. Heaven forbid that a collection be designed for a demographic other than gaunt, pale-faced, caucasian women! Oh no, that would leave Michael Kors' panties in a bunch! That innefectual, milquetoast, aspiring drag queen wouldn't know fashion if it was served to him on a silver platter with fois grois. The same goes for Nina Garcia, whose quintessential "point of view" apparently consists of Jeffrey's Bride of Frankenstein cum Candystriper motif.
Michael had a better shot if he outfitted his models with the Fall collection from The Gap, had them strut out in blackface and prefaced his answers to the judges with a "Yessum."
Perhaps the producers should quit the charade, dress up Heidi in an SS uniform and change the name of the show to Prject Reichland.
LOL! Funny. I don't agree with everything you say, but there are some elements of truth. Michael's collection was not as good as I expected it to be, and I would have ranked him third or fourth. I found Uli's collecton to be the best, followed by Laura's collection. Michael's and Jeffery's collections were too hit and miss for me. Nevertheless, there were styles in it that I found to be a lot more innovative than in Jeffery's collection.
That being said, it is true that the fashion industry is mostly a white world. And all political correctness aside, there is often times a difference in taste. "Rocker" wear will always be more accepted than more urban hip hop wear in these circles. I am sure Michael is aware of this, and it will have to be a part of his future decisions. Which audience does he want to cater to? Regardless, of what the judges thought, their decision will not have any bearing on his future success as a designer. Its all up to who he chooses to design for and how well he pleases his clients.

Regarding Jeff's work - In an interview Jeff gave, he talked about how he kept his runway collection separate from his workspace and hidden away so his sewers would not see it. Then in another breath he talks about having all his sewers sign confidentiality agreements (not a general one for all his business work - just his collection for project runway)
So this has me confused. Anyone else?
What Laura forgot in her collection, was just how much the judges adored her Peanut dress - which was sassy and quirky and utterly enchanting. I think this is what they hoped to see more of from Laura, but she decided to play it safe doing what she did, but only better.
Except for Michael, I think the designers have just rocks in their head in deciding they know better than the judges and they just would NOT listen to the constructive criticism of their work. Michael's collection failed simply because he procrastinated too long and just hastly threw together a collection of what he knew he could do quickly. But he also failed to take note of his strong points which was his sportswear designs.
It's a good thing Jeff went over budget. You guys seem to forget him asking Tim something about what if he couldn't get receipts, what would happen. Tim replied that they would figure that out when that happened. So I don't think there is any hard rules that were broken that would have caused disqualifications either for being over budget or not having a receipt for a garment. So they made the rule on the receipts with this show. I wonder just how Jeff could forget that he brought more than 12 garments with him, by just pulling out of the hat another pair of leather jeans (and I really liked that denim skirt he made as possible replacement). Thank god he lost the wigs (if he used the wigs he might as well had kubuki white faces! LOL)

And I am glad Laura did it her way. Frankly, seeing the horrendous negativity directed toward Jeffrey since he won, I am glad Laura or Uli didnt win. it would have been too painful hearing the kind of attacks on them that have been directed toward Jeffrey. I am emotionally involved in their collections so it would have affected me worse.
Of course we have had to endure some pretty harsh attacks on Laura anyway, but NOTHING like what would have happened had she won. Same for Uli.
I have been touched by Uli since her collection. I see now what she is about, and her sense of beauty, her drive, they affected my life, as of course have Laura's. Is there anything more beautiful that one can say about the work of an artist than to say that their work has touched you deeply?
This kind of connection should be what every artiste like Laura and Uli and Jeffrey and Michael work for. And Bravo let me experience this. Thank you Bravo!
I will definitely be back next year to enjoy the magic. I am studying fashion design in Paris so maybe I can be more informed also. Hopefull also maybe I will be less abrasive if I have offended.
I would hope that those whom I have offended will forgive me before I leave, because I would not like to think that I have in any way marred the rocking good time that we all have shared in this magical month

My very first post, yay!
I know this has been said 3,544,920 times, but I will say it again......
Why, oh why did they pick Jeffrey? Honestly? I just don't get it. Sure his "creations" are young and innovative......young because my toddler could have come up with some of his shapes, and innovative if you actually mean random as hell. The colors were wanky, his crap was too asymmetrical, and his "style" is honestly just too weird. Oh but I forgot, that is what "fashion" is about. Wanky, weird, messed up crap. How many things have I seen on runways that no one in thier right mind would actually wear? Not many. So I guess his winning made some form of sence. Still, I was dissappointed.
Throughout the show, I never really had one particular favorite. But I certianly disliked most of Jeff's stuff. Yes, there were a few that he did good at. I LOVED his recycled dress. But it actually looked classy. (Go figure.) Of course, I hated most of Vincent's crap too.....and he hung around way too long.
I probably won't get too hyped up for next season, unfortunately. I loved this show and enjoyed watching it until right at the end when I found out who won.
But I guess I (as the consumer) is a dummy who doesn't know anything. *rolls eyes*
Sorry, Jeff, you won't catch me (or anyone I can think of) buying your crap.
Uli and Laura......just tell me when and where, ladies......you guys rock!
I must say, I'm honored that your very first post was in response to one of mine . . . and so right on target to boot!!! LOL!! I couldn't agree with you more. The thing that really gets me is the fact that all season long Michael Kors and Nina continually espoused that the designers needed to create clothing for "real" women, then chose Jeffrey as the winner because of his "innovative" point of view. I find this laughable, considering the average American woman is NOT 5'11 and a size 0 (after all, 0 is the new 2 >-< ) although fashion is designed for models that are. I thought Uli's collection was the hands down best because she made clothes that a wide variety of women want to wear. Jeffrey's clothes are NOT creative, NOT original, NOT innovative and definitely NOT marketable to a mass audience. If Kors and Nina had listened to what they had been saying the whole time, they would have chosen a winner who had the ability and talent to design a collection that will actually sell. I'm brokenhearted too, but thinking of Jeffrey crashing and burning professionally is helping me through it . . . along with some tequila ;-)
I was pondering the wearability issue as I rewatched the finale last night. Although I love her use of prints, I was surprised by how many of Uli's designs made it darn near impossible to wear a bra, something that most women over a size 2 do need to wear. I, for one, am not interested in using those silly stick on things for daily wear. Several of Laura's dresses were very see-through, which I had missed the first time, and would not work well on anyone with an actual bust.
I am 52 and a size 8, and I thought Jeffrey deserved the win; I could easily see myself wearing at least three of his dresses.

Bottom line:
Michael designs clothes for [expletive deleted].
Jeffrey designs clothes for crack [expletive deleted]. He's also hostile to women despite his "romantic" crap. He wanted to "make the models go away" and use wigs to disguise them all.
Interesting how both the men designed clothes for how they want to see women. Both women designed clothes they'd want to wear.
It's unimaginable that Uli didn't win and that Laura didn't win. If one collection was "$30,000" and a judge would "wear every one of them" for the other, then we've all been had. They're judging in a way that we're not privy to. And this show has jumped the shark.
Laura's designs showed just as much skin, though veiled by see through fabric, than either of the men. What do you have to say about that?

May the beauty that rides on wings of angels traverse with you on your quest. Let the whispers of Leonardo da Vinci infiltrate your senses as gifts with visions so lovely they surpass the sentuality of Mona Lisa.
Let the rivers flow as beautiful silks following the curves of the every woman of God's design. Be of a mind beyond that of physical being in a journey of spiritual and energy light wonders of all senses that for which you perceive as beautiful beyond the world of Goddesses.

So a dress that makes you look like a candy cane exploded all over you is far more wearable than Uli's elegant creations?!? I am well aware of how difficult it is to find clothing that allows a woman to wear a bra ( 36DD au natural baby!) especially from designers. When I was talking about wearability of design, I wasn't thinking the same way as you. I was thinking what I would want to LOOK like, not if it allowed room for my industrial strength brassiere. To be perfectly honest NO designer makes clothing for real women to wear unless they have the same body type as a model! It's only after the trends for the season are revealed and then mass produced are real women able to wear the clothing. The point of the fashion show was to showcase the designer's point of view and talent. In both instances Jeffrey fell apallingly short, yet still won. *Sigh* Margaritas anyone?

Funny!! FUNNY!?!?

Much as it pains me to side with a Jeffrey fan {{{{ouch}}}}, I noticed the same thing about many of Uli's dresses. And many of Laura's cut-to-the-navel creations preclude any kind of support, too. Still, I'd wear one of their dresses with my bra hanging out before I'd wear one of Jeffrey's deconstructed Japanese nightmares.

Youre a winner to me AI
I'll take salt on my margarite por favor.
I really have come full circle with Uli. I struggled to like her, but after the show, I have come to adore her. It must be hard for her to live alone.
When Jeffrey was chosen and then Uli was told "auf wedersehen" she said to Heidi "thats one kiss I never wanted". How sweet she truly is. I loved her collection, and I loved Laura's most of all.
The fashion industry is very unforgiving to women I think. Laura and Uli were asked why they did not take more risks, but I feel they would have been auf'd if they had. And besides, they designed for women, and their clothes were inspiring.
My adoration for the designs of Laura and Uli truly is not a passive agressive attack on the offerings of Jeffrey and Michael. I give the male designers their due, but I just prefer the collections of Laura and Uli in this case.
I think women are overlooked in the fashion world and not taken as seriously as the men. Whenever a male designer presented something "seriously ugly" the judges always were quick to insert the comment that they respected their POV. When, say Allison presented ONE ugly dress, she was aufed and VINCENT was kept!
It's odd that we should be a second class minority in a world that basically revolves around clothing us, but thats how it is. Very odd..
This is not, btw, anti male. I honestly don't think men have any idea what we are talking about because female experiences are just very foreign to them. I am sure that I sound very "frigid" as Jeffrey so hilariously characterized Laura (a woman with 5 kids lol).. but I do love the male fashion designers and the female ones too.
Maybe what I am saying makes no sense so I will go out now for a drink with my guy

I am woman - - not only am I woman - - I have 2 daughters and a granddaugher.
You have an extreme narrow perception of beauty - - which you feel you have the right to prescribe to all women.
I fully understand classic beauty - - - but I also understand Fun - - - something that obviously escapes your narrow minded persona.
You seriously need to grow up. I reiterate - - - you act like a child.

I'm happy that a great artist won. I was very happy with the results of Season 1, very unhappy with the results of Season 2, & now I'm happy again with the results of Season 3. Wee! Hehe. I agree with the order by which they were eliminated as well: Michael, Laura, Uli.
Like I said in the other thread, I didn't really know what to think of the others' works but Jeffrey's works stood out. I was blown away by Jeffrey's collection. He seems to be the most creative & innovative but at the same time, his clothes were well-made--bold & wild but not "all over the place," as the judges said. His victory for me was almost like watching Jay Mccarroll win all over again. I suppose it's my personal bias, but I'm always happy when they pick "le artiste."
Laura - I've always loved Laura's 20's flapper-inspired stuff. Her collection was indeed very pretty & sparkly (hehe) & it's clear that she knows how to make clothes. Her collection, though safe--was impeccable. If she sets up a shop in NY I'd definitely buy from there. As for what Laura did to Jeffrey, I can see why she had to do it, & I just can't hate her for it...
Uli - I loved that she set aside her wild patterns (those were kinda getting to me) for her collection. I like anything shimmery and the cut of her clothes were precise and her collection was very, well, sexy. I would want to buy from Uli, too!
Michael - I wasn't really disappointed, but his clothes weren't my fave, either. He is young, creative, has a strong support system (his family) & time to learn.
Season 3 - The best season so far. I agree, Tim!

Well, I guess if "cutting edge" these days means creating garments that didn't even flatter young, anoerexic size 0 fashion models let alone an average body-type buyer, then I will be just as happy to remain a conservative old fuddy-duddy! I just really wish the fashion industry would give a little more consideration to average-to-plus size folk who are older than twenty-something. I mean really... what are we to do... be doomed to being considered "unfashinable" for the rest of our lives?
Women have complained about that stuff for YEARS! Would you like to revisit the days of corsets? or maybe tiny shoes/wraps so our feet won't grow like the asian people? We could talk about the women who start as young girls wrapping metal around their necks to press down the shoulders and muscles to give the illusion of length - only seeing their real neck when their necklaces are changed as they grow. Fashion isn't about fair to all anywhere in the world. Do you think shoe models have size 11 feet? No, they are usually around a size 5.5 or 6. Hand models having large and muscular fingers noway! Dainty and thin with nice nails is how they are chosen.
My point? Nothing is going to change the "twiggy" image in fashion shows. Emme was the only thing that got plus-sized models in the public eye. Maybe there was a show for such models? Unfortunately that isn't what sells. Thin, beautiful girls are what sells. It's all about sales, money, marketing. It's only about real women when it comes to cup size! and have those are fake!
Really tho, those fashion shows are not really about the everyday woman. They are about who is going to design the clothes. We are not going to wear metallic gold tights with foil breast plates/shirts...... check those out in the Paris shows!!! It's just about their getting attention and then editing those designs and ideas in various ways including materials.
That's what I Think everyone is missing that doesn't get it. I personally wouldn't wear anything Jeffrey designed cause it wouldn't look good on me as a 43 y/o woman. I'm not who he is designing for, nor am I who PR is wanting to see designs for. They want to see versatility within the guidelines of what's considered beautiful in models. Young, skinny, different. Look at the models themselves in the past 10 to 20 years. They've changed races, facial ideas of beauty, but they are still young and skinny.
I'm an old fuddy duddy and if I had reason to purchase something from any of those designers it would probably come from Laura. If I were a free-spirited young girl again, I'd be all over Jeffrey's clothing. That doesn't mean every girl would be either.
There are arguments for both sides because no way is definitely the right way - because it's all about taste. HOWEVER, as I have said before - PR asked for new, innovative, versitile designers. Jeffrey proved he could be that - like everyone else he also made some mistakes. He just lucked out on the runway.
I thought Kaynes coutour gown was pretty. YES, it was a bit much, but the idea was really cute. Those people thought it was gross. Oh well......

I hate reality shows because they always drag one abrasive, annoying creep to the final episode or two just to keep the tension going and the watchers watching.
I figured that PR was a slightly different reality show because the contestants needed to have some talent along with a, ah, colorful personality. It isn't just a back-stabbing experience like Survivor or Big Brother. So, I watched PR with my children for the first time this season.
I couldn't have been more wrong in my assessment. Talent or not, this is your typical Spam in a Can reality show. Nothing special about it, except for the fact that they let the show's token creep, Jeffrey, win. That hardly makes for entertaining television. In fact, it makes for very insulting television and, given the petty nature of reality shows in general, I kick myself for not knowing better.
I was willing to look past Wendy and Santino making it to the final three, though both of them should have been auf'd numerous times on the way to Bryant Park. I was willing to look past Allison being auf'd for making a "zaftig" (size 6?) model look big while Vincent produced week after week of ill-fitting, unflattering designs. I was willing to believe that these players remained in the competition because fashion is a matter of taste and not because their abrasive and/or egomaniacal personalities made "great TV." But after this finale, I just can't extend any more good faith to the Project Runway producers.
Jeffrey insulted a client, insulted half the designers, broke the rules, designed the least wearable collection, sent at least one hideously unflattering dress down the runway that all of the judges hated, and still won. Worse, the editing in the finale highlighting his drug problem and garment construction controversy made it totally obvious that he was going to win, so there was no fun in watching.
Michael Kors said Jeffrey designed for every event in his woman's life, but no matter how avant garde you are, you'd look ridiculous going anywhere in the polka dot cropped top with the trims hanging off it. Add that to the two misshapen blue silk dresses and you have 3 unwearable looks in a 12-look collection. Any one of those 3 would have been worthy of Heidi's "auf Wiedersehen," but add them together and you get a winning collection?

If Heidi Klum said that I would believe it, from you I don't.
Heidi is in a position to know, you are not.
FYI: Just because someone wears designer clothes doesn't mean they know a thing about design. It's called having a professional stylist-you don't really think Heidi Klum puts all her own outfits together, do you?!?
You missed my point.
Someone who has watched two seasons of Project Runway episodes on television is in no position to judge or compare the designers work.
Why do you think I've watched only 2 seasons? How many seasons will it take for you to accept an opinion <@@>
We are all entitled to judge the designs! The very fact that this is a TV show invites us to judge. Judging is subjective, and each person has his/her own taste. Unfortunately, there used to be more parameters to taste, but today, it seems that anything goes. So today, we see more underwear than we have ever seen. My parents would have never let me leave the house with extremely lowrise jeans and my underwear sticking like a statement. Gross! Ditto that for the fashions that are made for bras being seen. If this opinion makes me old-fashioned, that's just fine with me. Even though Laura and Uli sometimes showed too much skin, on the whole the taste level and the level of execution were much, much, much higher than Michael and Jeffrey. Maybe the PR judges need to watch more "What not to wear", to get an idea of what is really flattering and tasteful. Shouldn't fashion be about what looks the best, and not about the ugliest costumes which are "innovative", whatever that means.

Hitching on again!
Okay for the people who have been on here for awhile I thoroughly have enjoyed our discussions. I do want to apologize about a little mudslinging I got caught up into a few days ago. It wasn’t very mature but I’ll admit that I was getting really tired of these people who “all the sudden” after an entire season choose to come out and start crapping on others. I just freakin snapped! The now calmer me would like to add that I’m happy this season is over. Anyone who knows my regular point of view yada, yada knows how I feel about the designers and out comes. I will however say that this group of regulars has just been the most fun to chat with. Sometimes we could find ourselves on the opposite side but more than not everyone was willing to at least attempt to see all sides of the scenario. I’m done here off to Top Chef 2. I hope to see y’all over there or next year. It’s been real…well at least as real as reality TV can be!
Hugs and a Fine parting gift of *Oreo’s and copy of InStyle!*
