What are you implying, that good manners and decency are Old Fashioned? Not true, look at Tim Gunn. Everyone here seems to respect and admire him, he IS a gentleman. Maybe that's the problem with this generation, they don't understand that speaking the English language correctly, showing respect and having decency and good manners NEVER goes out of style. It's call "Class" honey!
Did you ever consider that if the editors did not want the foul language and disrespect in the program, they could have editted it out or redone the scene ? Even the crowd favorite, Michael, called his icon Pam "Mother********" Grier". Laura was quite adept at calling other designers A******. Many people use foul language, some just use it more often than others. As for manners and decency, they have not gone out of style. Not everyone in the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s had manners and showed common decency - why get bent out of shape when a few don't show it now ?

I'm not a fashion expert but I like anything that has to do with creativity. My wife and I have watched this show since the first episode of season one. What is very apparent here is that this show is an absolute joke. I enjoy watching it. I enjoy seeing these people create things. But this show is just a joke. They set up these elaborate weekly challenges and when a contestant who is a favorite of the judges doesnt perform well in the challenge, they just totally overlook the rules and the favorite is just passed along to the next week. Why have rules? Why have challenges? Why even have a weekly show? The judges should just pick a couple of people they like and immediately go to the big runway and let them duke it out. The final challenge to pare things down to a final three was the topper. Michael was a favorite, Jeffry was a favorite but they both failed in the final challenge. "What to do?" gasped the judges!!! "Let's just let them all go to the final! To heck with rules!" When you set a contest up with weekly challenges, it's not what the contestant did last week or the week before. It's about what they did on the challenge!!!! If they failed the challenge, they should get kicked off. I'll admit I didnt care for Jeffrey. But I am open minded enough to look at his final designs and if they were the best, he should win. I never cared much for Uli's stuff but it was quite apparent that she put the best dresses out there for the final. She got robbed. Nina and Kors, aka Pete and Re-peat, Click and Clack whatever, raved about Jeffrey's cohesivness. Cohesivness?? He trotted out about three or four different outfits with white leather pants and gawed awful tops. So yeah, I guess that's cohesive. Michael Kors is the one that just bugged me. Mr Contradiction on a weekly basis. Doesnt like someone because they dont "Wow" him, or they keep bringing out the same old same old. Then he tells someone else about how much he loves that they had a theme or a message that was seen in all of their work. Iwonder if he knows he has clothes hanging in the clearance aisle at TJ Maxx. I guess what makes me mad is I invested all that time in watching this show only to see them totally tear away any shred of integrity they may have had. I knew when they chose to take 4 contestants to the final that it would wind up a waste of time. What a joke, and the joke is on all of the viewers who stuck with this nonsense to the bitter end.

The problem with this show and for that matter most of Bravo's shows of this nature is that little blurb that appears in the credits almost too quick for anyone to see it about the producers having an influence over the shows outcome.
Every year we have a villian/a-hole who somehow manages to slip into the finals over and over. They survive at least one close call and maybe more where, aside from their fans, everyone is in agreement they should have been gone. If you showed 100 women the bottom two outfits in the Mom challenge I would be stunned if 5 of them would have picked Jeff's outfit. But his drama value kept him alive in this challenge as well as the party dress challenge and quite possibly caused the final 3 to be expanded to the final 4 because of his milk maid dress.
I think people here have had enough of the shady judging and the double standards that seem to be prevalent. Nina and Kors calling out Laura and Uli and other for same old same old when its still clearly what they do well and not calling out Jeffery but praising him when he does basically the same thing. Same in terms of Kane who was faulted for poor taste but it was never questioned for Jeffery. Hello crotch bling anyone?
I was rooting for Michael and Laura and thought Uli won hands down last night. I really don't like Jeffery but I thought his garbage challenge dress was pretty great. But unfortunately the producers of the show contrived to give us this gutter to glamour story that really is besides the point. Every contestant had an interesting story but the producers chose to make this Project Rehab at every turn. And the bruhaha at the end about the receipts and what not was clearly a joke. Why should Jeff not only get to go over budget but also have missing documentation and not be held accountable? What's to stop every designer from going over budget, see what comes out the best, and then remove what's needed to comply with the rules after you get caught, if you get caught? Sorry but, unless your a blind fanboy/girl of Jeff, were not buying it.
This show is just like every other reality show that chooses to sacrifice the skills of the participants for drama.
You know your introuble when Boxing and the Ultimate Fighting Championship put out reality shows that have exponentially more credibility than Bravo's.
Great post. I agree 100%. They sacrifice the integrity of the show for the drama. Its a a bottom line business, and ratings is the main point. The decisions on this show should be taken with a big grain of salt, as they are made in part with an eye to the ratings and entertainment value.

I really don't understand how Jeffrey won either. His clothes were sooooooooo L. A., and we who don't live in L.A. would NEVER wear his clothes. Uli got robbed, how can the judges say real women would buy her clothes, and not crown her the winner? Are they saying real women don't know style? I am so disappointed in the outcome, I was actually sad after the show was over, confused may be more to the point.

Anyone even listen to the exit interviews? Michael is the ONLY one to swear! A few observations: Laura mentions more about her family in that video than the show did the entire season, and showed a mild, sarcastic wit that I found more endearing than anything I'd heard from her. Also, she admitted that Jeff's rock and roll hard exterior covered a big softey.
Jeff's comments about Harrison seeing Elmo and Da-da in the same light now just drove that home (big softey). Uli, in her video, commented on Laura being intimidated by Jeff's collection.

I don't think she should change her style but maybe broaden her range. Her style reminds me so much of the silver screen glam-look. I love it but at the same time I'm not anywhere in my life where those pieces would make sense for me. If she could think in more simple basics with the same classic look I might be interested.

I agree with you totally. Jeff's style has been the same. They have construed non-creativity with innovation. What a joke. This man is rude and nasty. If he is such a great designer he should have been able to design or at least sew somthing presentable for the fuller women on the family challenge (especially since he throws crap together). Instead he got rude and insulting. Everything he does looks like crap sown together. He is not Van Gogh of the fashion world. He can sew but he has no creativity whatsoever.

Good manners and decency are not associated with any particular generation or year, they are just good judgement and expected from people who have any common sense, intelligence or education (someone like Tim Gunn understands). Yes, TV will continue to allow bad language, etc., as it's merely a reflection of our current society.

Bingo. The best story won not the most deserving designer. Oh well the moral of this season is that If your the most TV friendly douchebag who can conger up a few tears people will overlok it when you dress someone like the mom of frankenstein and will even expand the finals when your Saint Paulie Girl Beer outfit tanks.
You could tell that Tim had sympathy for Jeff. I've never seen Tim hug someone so much. He felt sorry for Jeff.

So don't knock Jeffry's style - it could be

I like the fact that there are mixture of established and emerging designers... The greatest necessity in this business is cash flow and every designer deals with it unless you have a huge conglomorate like LVMH backing you collection... I'm speaking from experience... To even make it on this show is huge from a marketing standpoint... Every designer from this show is now a household name...

Ah, I'm so glad the Jeffrey won. The judges mentioned that he offered a collection for a woman's entire life from work, to meeting friends, to out on the town at night and I think this was one reason he won. He clearly was the most innovative of the designers. I loved everything he showed except for that long blue dress - not so much.
I believe the judges were looking for a fashion forward designer and Jeffrey was the best of the final four. We may not see his innovations on the majority of women today but it will influence what we see in the years to come.
I don't mind that he's rough around the edges - you can tell that he's got a good heart and amazing talent.
Yea Jeffrey!
I don't understand why people see his work as so inventive. I have seen similar stuff for years here in Los Angeles. Is Los Angeles really that distinct a fashion place? I am not saying the other designers were breaking new ground, but Jeffery is definitely not some great design innovator. And he was probably the worst at fitting the clothes on the models.

I haven't posted here in weeks. All the Jeffrey-hate was a bit overwhelming.
Seems like it's at an all-time peak now!

When is Season 4. This season was a suprise, because usually you have to wait until about a year later. I hope it's soon like this one.

YES! Jeffrey deserved to win!!!!!!
This is not a popularity contest - - or a pretty contest - - or an elegant contest.
This is a best innovative with a future design contest.
And that is Jeffrey.
It means nothing that you hate him.
EXACTLY!!!!!! I can't believe how many people are so narrow-minded and thinking about this on a television show level. This is serious business! Fashion design is not about who we like but where fashion is going and what's going to take it there!
I don't know how you can say this!! They had to scrounge up someone to say they liked Jeffery's collection! Most loved Uli and Laura with an honorable mention of Michael!! No way should that clown have taken this competition!! Yuck!!

Had to share this quote from New York Magazine this week. I LOVE it!
"Runway, meanwhile, has been essentially adopted as
the official reality show of New York, mostly because
it's the first one that gets this city right. The
Apprentice sells a vision of New York, but it's
packaged to appeal to outsiders - that is, exactly the
kind of people who think Donald Trump has impeccable
business sense and who consider the Trump Plaza an
icon of architectural glamour. If Laura Bennett,
Runway's resident New Yorker, were ever a contestant
on The Apprentice, she'd cut down The Donald with a
withering quip while nursing a baby in one hand and a
gimlet in the other."

There were plenty of people who loved Jefrey's collection after the showing. Again you have to think of the producers and how they are going to edit things. They are ging to try and throw you off the track as much as poosible.

I agree Jay. But, they only show us cliips they want to show us. So we don't really know what was said about Jef's collection.
I think Betsy Johnson says what Jef is trying to say much better.
Jef lost IMO becuse he didn't follow the rules, he went over budget.

did anyone else notice that throughout the season, laura never once let the viewer forget about her wealth and glamour and was never seen without some item from louis vuitton but when a katherine ross from lvmh (luis vuitton moet hennesey) was asked her opinion after the four shows, she thought jeffrey offered the best show and was the most innovative....HA! congrats to jeffrey
What the heck is wrong with glamour? Are women supposed to sit around with no makeup and sweatpants on, just to prove they're a "Good Mother"? Ugh. No wonder half of marriages end in divorce if that's what women think. All through history right up into the 80's, no self-respecting women of any marital or professional status would leave the house without makeup, her hair done, and looking totally chic. Even midwestern housewives. I know this because I remember. My mother ROCKED her glam outfits in her cadillac convertible in the 70's in small town Minnesota. Those women are a total inspiration to me, as is Laura.

FINALLY! Someone who knows what they're talking about.
No one is knocking Laura and Uli's designs. They are beautiful.
Its just not what you want in an innovative up and coming designer.
I am tired of this innovative crap. Uli and Laura are innovative too in their own genre and style. You need to be innovative to make beautiful outfits that design-wise have the taste of familiarity so they don't look boring and repetitive. Uli and Laura pulled it off, period. If innovation means weird and SERIOUS UGLY and no sane woman will wear his design, yes J won in that dept. Shame on PR. One minute the judges talk about "knowing a woman's body" another minute they drivel about "innovation" even when it means innovatively UGLY and in no way the designer knows a woman's body or taste!!

I think they were talking about the look on her face, which I'm shocked they were able to see with their head so far up their arse! It it blatantly obvious that Jeffrey cheated, and if anybody here read People magazine they would already know that. Right before the reunion special aired, People ran a small story on the whole "did he or didn't he" drama, and Laura discussed why she was so suspicious of him and his "work". Apparently, Laura's mother and Jeffrey's mother (PS: How did such a classy lady produce such crass???) became close during the mother challenge, and continued to stay in contact during the show's hiatus. During that time Jeffrey's mother mentioned that he had quite a bit of OUTSIDE HELP in finishing his collection. . . .
Naturally, Laura's mother forwarded this information, and so Laura was already suspicious when she arrived back in NY, and only expressed her doubts when Jeffrey showed up with hideous clothes that were sewn far too perfectly for him. Laura has consistently shown exquisite clothing that was perfectly sewn throughout the competition . . . I would expect nothing less than labor-intensive beading and sewing from her final collection and while I don't believe she had the best collection, the judges didn't doubt for an instant that she did all her work herself becuase her work was a level above the whole time!!! And next time you're trying to sound intelligent, don't quote Vincent. It's entirely self-defeatist and makes you sound about as sharp as the Leader of the Free World . . . .

I agree. "Innovative" doesn't mean shredded shirts, green stripes. That kind of thing appears "innovative" only to people who don't have knowledge of designers and design, thus lack context. Nothing "innovative" Jeffrey did, not one single thing, was something I haven't already seen another designer do. Someone mentioned Betsey Johnson, that's a great comparison. The striped dress was like something right off HER runway. Anyway, the most innovative thing I saw in the collections last night was the beading on Laura's dress with the green sash - the way the color of the beading gradually turned green on the bodice close to the belt. Small detail yes, but I have NEVER seen that before. And I've been following couture since I was 14 years old (I'm 39 now) and have worked professionally as a stylist in the past. In contrast, if someone is completely unfamiliar with all the designers Jeffrey copies from, then they really have nothing to base their opinion on in saying he's "innovative".

Mindofman... your statement above makes no sense to me at all. Laura was being who she is, she just happens to have money, be glamorous and has some LV luggage. Was she supposed to run out to KMart and get some luggage so that she could be more like the "common man". She is who she is. I don't believe that she thought because she has money, that would be an "in" for her and all the fashion icons would automatically vote for her. She is being chatized just as much as Jeffrey is but for the opposite reasons. People are blasting Jeffrey because of his past drug life, his blunt vulger language (I think he has a very soft side in him), and Laura is being blasted because she is affluent. I don't get any of it. I feel they both presented themselves honestly, they are who they are, AND were judged based on their designs, period.
