The season premiere - it's finally here! "Top Chef" is back for season 2, and we have a new host and a new bunch of chefs. Discuss the first episode, "Into the Fire", here! What did you all think?

Tiffany must be watching (and reading) not at her new restaurant, didn't she want to travel and pay bills? Lets hope we don't have another Tiffany this season. I can't wait to see who I will love to hate.

We need another Tiffani and we need another Stephen. If no one opts to fill those roles, there will be nothing to talk about here in the forum. It will just be another cooking show like what you'd get on the Food Channel.

All I can say is that I hope we get some noteworthy meals and recipes this season. Most of the dishes I made from the show were just outstanding and I can't wait to start cooking!

Wow "Cindy Lou", I'm pretty sure you don't have a clue what Tiffani is doing or has done. Here's what I know. None of the chefs from season one as of this date have opened their own restaurant. But thanks, always glad to know who the haters are right off the bat.

Are the episodes going to be sold on iTunes like last season? I just moved to college and I don't get Bravo anymore... it's a tragedy!

I heard she was working as a lunch lady trying to get children to eat uncolored unsweetened applesauce ; )

Yeah it's true none of the previous season's chefs have opened restaurants, but last I heard Harold was going to open his restaurant Perilla, and i really hope other chefs do as well.............though I imagine it takes a long time to set up a restaurant if you want to do it right......and given that expectation will be high that could explain why to date there is no former top chef place.

Hi everyone!! So glad TC is back. Hopefully things can be civil here on the boards so we can all enjoy the chit chat!

Anyway, great to see Harold be a part of the opener!! Interesting group of chefs... should be a good season.

Dunno when or how, but replacing her with the new host was a great move. She's actually somewhat knowledgable about food and can talk on TV without sounding like the girl who couldn't get a part in her highschool play.

So far, I really like Sam and Emily. Not crazy about Marcel or Otto. The others, well, the jury is still out.

I also have a feeling Marcel is going to be the new snooty overconfident one. Not sure about the others. Just glad to have the show back! Was great to see Harold.

Someone posted that another Stephen was needed...I'm not sure I agree with that, but we have one! Marcel is the son of Stephen! He's already gotten on my nerves! It'll be interesting to see if there are any other parallels between this season and last...

Looks like Marcel is going to make the new season interesting*evil laugh*. I thought they had a hard first challenge and did a pretty good job with it overall. Nice to see Harold included to start the new season off.

Although I do find myself just looking at Padmas arm...that must have been painful whatever it was...
Marcel must be related to Stephen...haha..right down to the ties!
Ive just been so used to watching the marathons..I can hardly wait seven days between shows

Well, shoot, I missed Padma's arm. What's wrong with it?

Marcel does remind me a bit of Stephen. And Michael reminds me a bit of Miguel. Trying not to draw parallels here, but I can't quite help it.

I'm pretty impressed by Elia, even though I'm not fond of her attitude about "American food". For being so young, she seems to have quite an instinct for cuisine.

I can't stand the new host. She sounds like she is a very bad actor and during parts of show like she was doped up. Perhaps she has the credentials and her body impressed the network but she is not pleasing to this loyal viewer. Bring back season 1 host! PLEASE!!!!!

It looks like Padma had surgery or something...she has a big long scar on her upper right arm...although...it doesnt take away from her beauty...shes very pretty

I thought the same thing with Michael!

Kudos to Bravo for having the best two reality TV shows: Project Runway and Top Chef -- intelligent and compelling, and a very strong group of future top chefs this season!

My top pics before seeing the show was Ilan, Marcel, Sam and Ilia purely for their expertise and education. I had a feeling that Marcel would suffer from being the next Stephen (pompous and arrogent) from last season and after seeing this first episode I'm afraid this would happen.
The only people I wanted to see go are Otto (because I find him very annoying and a bit over the hill in this range of talent), Michael (because of his inexperience fine cuisine and being more suited to the contestants to the first season of Hell's Kitchen), and Josie (as I see her as the next Taffani, an overbearing bitchy lesbian, which her fellow competitors would easily turn on her).

Other few interesting notes:
I thought Ilan is a spitting image of Ted Allen (the food and wine guy) from Queer Eye, interesting isn't it?!!!
I was pleasantly surprised that Betty was in that top group -- I thought her dish was great.
I was very surprised and shocked that Ilia didn't know that you can't flambé red wine.

Looks like an awesome season.
Hell's Kitchen better find some decent contestants -- you can't afford to have second rate line cooks!

I think the new host had or was in some kind of accident, I think when she was a child.

It's nice to see that she doesn't feel that she has to hide it.

It's nice to have a host who knows something about food. I'd swear the last one had a trainer standing off camera giving cues and tossing her treat safter every forgetable line she uttered.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Marcel will be the next Stephen. I was super disappointed when Ilia didn't know how to flambe` correctly. That just seems to me like it would be a basic skill for a chef...at least that's how it seems after talking to my friends that are chefs. Either way, I can't wait for next weeks episode!

Yeah, I thought Katie from season one had an annoying voice kind of like Heide on Runway but I would rather have Katie then Padma. Katie said "Pack your knives and go!" with such force whereas Padma said it like an actress with hints of "I feel bad for you" in her tone. Sorry Padma, Please back YOUR knives and GO!!!

I thought it was ok with a nice cast of characters but what is with making pretty women look bad in the kitchen? The braided hair under a hat looks awful.

I think Marcel is a the new Steve (as do so many others) but at least there isn't a [expletive deleted] like Kenneth.

I liked Suyai and she seemed SOOO nice, not to mention adorable, as does the girl who says "I love you to Harold" and I am sorry she got the boot over Marcel. I would love to taste her red snapper. I mean her signature dish.

There were some pretty accomplished people in the group.

OH! So cruel!!! But Heidi's voice is just as annoying on that other show! I kind of liked Katie. You know what I don't like is how loud the background music is on the show that it's kind of hard to hear what they are saying...Maybe it's just my crappy TV. So can anyone answer my question...Is Tom GAY??? I am a huge fan of his and think he rocks as a business man and chef. Just curious because in his bio it says he opened a restaurant with his "partner" Danny....Hmmm.....Answer me anyone...

Where are you getting this from...Katie was the HOST, that's all. I was watching the chef's and the eliminations not Katie. I can't believe how many people couldn't stand her. Actually now that I think about it; I couldn't stand her either! Now we got Padma. Nough said.

As someone who loved the last seasons ending contestants, I watched the last 6 or so shows like 10 times each. I have opinions of new season.
I HATE the new host. I never thought anything was wrong with other girl, she was way better than this one. Don't know who I like yet. Hated to see the final 4 for elimination, then go to break and they show Marcel on next week, DUH, that killed suspence. Liked seeing Harold. I think Tom should just be the host as he does it well.
I recently looked at last years contestants web pages, myspaces, news, etc. And I saw one thing on Harolds Myspace that was bad news. He hasn't opened resturant, but then he comments sorry if I haven't replied to you as I'm usually drunk or hung over. AHHHHH, I hope he didn't blow money on booze.
I see Tiffany was cooking on Nantucket for summer. Others just working. I look forward to last years contestants on new show as judges. Anyway. I hope new contestants are as much fun as last years.
Sorry for long post, my first here. But really had to say I HATE THE NEW HOST
