Full Version: Episode 203: Food For The People
Welcome to the message boards post for Episode 203: Food For The People. Tonight's challenges start out with our chefs heading to the beach to serve a refreshing treat to passers-by: ice cream! But some of them create exotic (and occasionally disgusting) tastes that you won't find at your local 31 Flavors. Continuing in our populist spirit, the chefs continue on to a firehouse where they must make a meal for several very hungry Pasadena firemen. Will their food fill hungry bellies, or be thrown away? And who would really want to try bacon avocado ice cream anyway? (Ew.) Talk about the episode in this thread and let us know what you think!

I am appalled that Top Chef would use TGIFridays for their challenge. It has nothing to do with being a snob. They could have goone with any other establishment (Chili's, Logan's, even Applebees). I SWORE I would never give that establishment ANY of my support or money after my last few experiences. Bad service, Bad management, awful bartenders, awful food including food poisoning, and worst of all theft from waitress (wwho we saw ONCE0. She skimmed the change off the top of the bill. When reported to Friday's office all that happened was a coupon. BOOOOOO Top chef! I guess I might have to stop patronizing your show.

Its all about the all-mighty dollar. TGIfridays had more dollar than the Brinker Intl restaurants did. All in all... TGIfridays is not that bad of a place to eat when you are looking for that type of food. They do a serious business coast to coast. Its not chez lafleur... and its not burger king.

I realize that a lot of stuff has been cut, but really, Betty is a bit over the top. I love Betty and would really like to see her win, and yeah, Marcel is annoying, but sheesh, let it go.

Nah. Betty is a cool chick. She certainly knows how to play the game and she's upfront and honest. Emily's comment about the lady eating her ice-cream ticked me off to no end. I really hope she goes home tonight.
As far as Betty's confrontation with Marcel: I think it was about time. You can be self confident without coming off as a snob. I'm glad someone finally did it.

Emily is insane to be so nasty on national tv! Won't do much for her rep! Plus - stop the whining! Most of the chefs I know have great imagination and are adventurous - and they've gone to the best schools and work in fantastic restaurants - not total snobs.
And I'm glad Marisa was in the bottom 3 for the ice cream. Miss pastry chef has bombed 2 desserts in a row. Another whiner - and why didn't she confront Otto when he made the comment about the mistake last challenge? Played it to her advantage - played the game - didn't play as a team.

I'm a newbie but I'm really excited about the show. Being new, I wanted to ask you pros some questions about the show:
- Is there always one elimination per episode?
- Does the show go for 15 weeks?
- How does it end? Is there a final 2 challenge like many other contest shows? What type of face-off do they have?

I love Betty----she was to tweek a childhood favorite dish---she did exactly what they wanted----and she is the only one who stands up to that egotistical little brat. Between him and that lying little pastry chef who can't make desserts...I can't wait for those two to be found out and booted.

I really hope Micheal isn't gone, but he is probly digging his own grave since Tom is a jerk with no taste at all but once you get on his bad side you have no chance.

Thank Goodness its Friday????? Thank goodness I don't eat that trash food is more like it. Honestly I think Wendys has about 100 times as much culninary appeal as that junk.
I'm in little disappointed in this episode, it was a little boring for me, but i hope Michael goes (wish it was Marisa for the ice cream).

Exactly. How were his onion rings? If everythign that Emily did was too salty then the onion rings alone should save him.
