Thank you feast_atlanta, and I agree. What I find so ironic and laughable is that for the most part Sam and Ilan have been touted as the most professional overall of the season so far, but let them slip up just once in their "manners" and they're in everyone's dog house. It was the same with Cliff last ep--he was considered the "quiet gentleman" for so long, and then--BAM!--he said the first wrong thing, and he was persona non grata. Betty's been treating everyone like the rest of the cast should be bearing her along on her personal barge for way too long, and Marcel's been acting like a prissy little [expletive deleted] since day one, but they get passes because they make good TV. Please.
I'm just glad to see they finally got rid iof at least one of them. Don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on your way out, Betty.
Agreed Marcel is still on the program because he is the center of all the drama that happens on the program. Everyone would be happier if he was gone...
Elan and Sam have always been top notch and never involved in the drama really, so they finally had their say. I agree other posters need to cut them some slack, it was only once.
Atlanta, IronChef, and Swiss, please let me add my complete agreement with the three of you. Until this episode, Sam and Ilan have been two of the top-class competitors in the show. Along with Elia, they are my top picks for this competition. Betty has been consistently whiny and, while I can't taste through the tube, I have to agree with the judges that her presentation is frequently unappealing. Marcel may be a very talented chef, but with his (I think intentionally) irritating personality, it's no surprise that one-by-one every other chef is ostracizing him. And with his foam, foam, and more foam, he reminds me of the PR3 designers who seemed to design the same dress, week after week after week.
(While I've been watching TC2 since Episode 1, this is my first night to check out these boards. I got so tired of the nastiness on the PR3 boards that I decided just to quit them. Why waste valuable relaxation time on something that just isn't fun anymore? I love TC, and I'm hoping that you all are not having the same problem with these boards.)

Long time no see. Just jumping in to say that no, I dont think these boards are anywhere near as bad as they were last season. Come back and join us again. Starting about late Friday, people tend to do more OT, but its a very nice bunch and I like OT.

I think the moral of this episodes is "Keep your head in the game." It seems some of the cast members have all their hate on Marcel and, in a way, have lost focus on their own performance, their food. Betty in her exit interview said "I deserve to make it past Marcel." Huh? What happened to wanting to win? Good Grief!
Chef Tom points out that Mike's drugged state may kept him from wasting a whole lot of attention on the Marcel drama, and kept his focus where it should be on the food. I wonder if the key to winning will be the ability blow Marcel's babbling off?

I personally didn't mind Sam or Ilan's blow-up at Marcel.
Sam, Ilan, and Betty (and from what I could tell from the next episode, Cliff)all dislike Marcel. If it was just Betty then it wouldn't be such a big deal, but all 4 chefs dislike him. It's like that saying from Lucky Number Slevin, "The first time someone calls you a horse,you call them a jerk. The second time someone calls you a horse, you punch them on the nose. The third time someone calls you a horse.... well then it's time to start shopping for a new saddle."
Though I agree Ilan taunting Marcel about being a virgin was extremely immature, but I just can't help but to like Illan. Maybe it's because he's hot, and well, we all have had those moments when someone's comments have gotten the best of us.
And Marcel seems like he has serious issues. Why wouldn't he be able to take discounts from the cashier? Didn't the producers give them a rule book? And Avocado and Bacon ice cream? On what planet does that sound even remotley good?

I know this isn't the correct place to say this, but hoping CALady will be gracious of my butting in.
I have not been posting here very long, only a few weeks. I have to say to all of you newer posters that when I first came on board, I was kind of upset because a couple of the "old timers" (no offense intended) were REALLY going at it. I posted something about it getting kind of off topic (OT) or something to that affect and was concerned that peeps were not getting along. Still remember JUSTME answering that sometimes "spats" did break out, but that everyone was just venting, welcomed me aboard, and EVEN LET ME FLY THE JET!! Holy Cow BATMAN, I felt honored. Then, the unspeakable happened....I FELL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL!! OH MY GAWD!! Thought I had killed everyone. Was ready to call the funeral home, call the florist and order beautiful flowers for all the graves, turn myself into the FCC (or whomever you turn yourself into when you crash a jet) Thank Gawd, everyone survived the crash. My reputation was not tarnished in any way and ended up with the party at my house...(shhhhhhh, hubby was sleepin') I have a great time on here, getting to know new people, and GOT USED TO JUSTME AND HIS ALL-CAPS TYPING AND UNDERSTAND THE NEED. So, my point is, roll with the flow people and just enjoy it for what it is...lots of people voicing their opinions.

I appreciate that there have been people posting on this board for a long, long time. And I know that lots of people have developed long term friendships here; I respect that. Sorry for your loss, Actor. It doesn't make sense, does it? My location on the id section says St. Charles, MO...suburb of the most dangerous city in America, St. Louis. Not a day goes by that there are 3-4 shootings, arsons, violence of some sort on the news. And the police just can't seem to get a handle on it. And we don't have the issues that NOLA has.
A depleted police force. Lots of open areas that people can hide in. and from what I understand, lots of the most violent criminals are the only ones to be coming back to NOLA. It just isn't easy to understand or to fight.

It did get rather nasty on the PR3 board, and the night after a new epi, it gets rather noisy here. But we have been having some great trips these last three weeks on the jet and some great parties.

You're right. They spent so much time worrying about Marcel they just didn't quite live up to their own hype. As much as I like Betty, I think her skills, flavor choices, and presentations were just not up to "Top Chef" standards.

I sooooooo agree with you!! I love Ilan, but was so disappointed in his behavior last nite!! I've been on the wrong end of that kind of taunting as a child!! It's no fun even when some think it is deserved!! If the tauntee is unbalanced and takes a "header" off a building, what do you do then?? Wish you hadn't been such an A$$?? Have a quick outburst, but to go on and on and on victimizing someone isn't humane at all!! Marcel was finally subdued and that is where all the sympathy for him is showing up!! I'm sure he's encouraging some of this behavior behind the scenes, but these so called professionals have to start being more mature!! I'd do Ilan anyway!! lol!! What a hottie!! Maybe Marcel should give it up to Ilan and they could be friends again!! lol!! Maybe Ilan is just sexually frustrated and lashed out!! It actually was kind of creepy, too. It came out of the blue and was so out of context. Makes me wonder what has been going on in Ilan's mind, that this kind of comment about another chef's sexuality could just burst out.
They had been joking about Marcels virginity at the shows start so I dont think anything was "out of the blue".
Im reminded of last season and the few rabid Tiffani defenders. All the chefs had issues with Tiffani and all her supporters shouted it was all in the editing. Too funny everyone seems to forget that same editing this season. Well, many of the chefs spoke out about Tiffani and said she was even worse then what was shown on tv. That all of them had issues with her. Same thing this season with Marcel. There has to be a reason all the other chefs, except Elia, have problems with Marcel.

I agree thatthe Marcel bashing is too harsh. I think Ilan flipped out being in the bottom three for the first time. I think he may be one of those overachiever types who cannot deal with failure.... I also notice that Elia who has worked with Marcel does not dislike him..... That's a somewhat good sign....Also, Marcel was really playing up the dining room.... When I had to put my precious dog down, almost a week ago now to the hour, I was heartbroken. The next day I went to work, though I had no business being there. My budy, Matt, came by my desk that afternoon and put a little pin shaped like a Labrador (complete with little wings and a halo) on it. Matt knew that I was devestated and he knew that my dogs' name was Angel. He said he was sorry and got a little choked up.
Now I find that he's a retard. That it's okay to throw that word around. It's not right.
