Instead of sitting down with all involved and talking with them, a swift decision was made - the black man must go. I guess I should have expected it. Reality TV always has to make a villain out of its African-American characters.
Shame on Top Chef!
Cliff did a good enough job of making a villian out of himself. His actions have NOTHING to do with the color of his skin!
Shame on YOU for making a racial issue where one did not exist. Give me a break!

It is sad, and it's kinda barbaric and I didn't mean to suggest that it should be socially acceptable, but it's a fact of life that people like Marcel tend to get beat up a lot. Some people will say that being a pompous little [expletive deleted] is asking for it? Personally I'm not a "tough guy" and eschew such physical confrontations whenever possible. But I don't go around tempting fate either.

Sam was drunk, that was the excuse, Sam keeps telling everyone every challenge that he is a Diabetic. Well if he's a diabetic he's not supposed to be drinking.
I've said before that I had a lot of respect for Sam on one issue...he had never used his diabetes as an excuse.
Until this episode, on the QF challenge when, before the judges even tasted his dish, he gave them the preamble excuse that he doesn't eat a lot of chocolate because he is diabetic. Then he ended up winning the QF, so the excuse was without reason.
About his drinking---it's his call. He's the one with the diabetes. Diabetics have a long enough row to hoe anyway. I think they deserve to be cut some slack if they occasionally eat or drink things they know they shouldn't.
But the reason he shouldn't drink isn't because of his diabetes but because it turns him into even more of an ***hole than he usually is.
Not really back on the boards, but as a diabetic, I felt like I wanted to say a few things....it isn't that a diabetic can't drink....but we have to do it intelligently, and with full awareness of what our blood sugar is before we pick up the drink, as well as what sugars are in the drink, and what our food and insulin (or oral meds) are or will be. And...not in defense of Sam, because I was appalled at the entire thing....but in explanation.....one of the body's reaction to stress is to increase the blood sugar level by dumping stored sugars into the bloodstream. So a diabetic under stress who drinks is indulging in some pretty poor choices right there. Going off the boards now, too much real life to deal with..just had a few cents to add.

Did you all see Ilan with his two fingers out behind Marcel to Sam as he wanted the second course...Such a baby.
SO glad someone alse saw that. More high school behavior.
So laughable and so pathetic.
I saw that too. Why couldn't he just say, "I'd like to take the second course?" What a poopy-head.
LOL..Yeah that and the whole cigar..I swear Sam is one shrewd hottie...He played that kid like a fiddle..I don't even think Sam likes Ilan ..He had a plan to win and that included an alliance like Survivor...I think it's becoming more apparent as time goes on..He got pretty mad at his boys in the restaurant challenge..over some bacon????....And Ilan is like So sorry Sam!!!.....Ilan was his willing flunkie.
This is all so Shakespearerean
It was like Ilan was being submissive to Sam's authority. I think, unfortunately, that the final two will be Sam and Marcel. I look forward to Ilan leaving...what a schmuck! Elia, I do believe has some serious mental issues. Plus, the christian thing,as the saying goes, "if you are going to talk the talk, you better walk the walk" Her behavior during this episode shows that the most important thing to her was her new buddies, not what was right. Marcel could use some new supporters, that is for sure, because she only supported him to his face, not behind his back.
It's obvious that Elia never asked herself before the assault, "What would Jesus do?"
Maybe give Ted Neely a much needed break by playing himself for a change in "JC: Superstar?"
I don't know, I gotta believe it: "Saviouring is hard!"

TC: What was with Ilan talking about Marcel being a virgin? Were they playing?
CC: I took it as a dig. They were breaking balls. I wouldn’t have gotten upset.

But wasn't it Tom that was the one complaining at the final judging that the chicken was raw? And wasn't it Cliff who told Marcel to NOT spout off blame onto the sauce OR the chicken until you know which way Tom's comment/complaint was going to be aimed at?
And to the other post below this: NO WAY! Serving uncooked (or undercooked) food shows a complete lack of respect for the food, as well as the patrons you are serving it to. "Most Likely" brings up way too much doubt. Easier to pass and eat the crackers/rolls, then complain on the way out to the management.

And yes I think even after the scuffle (maybe in your eyes a stronger word should be used) Sam is the only one who has shown leadership in the kitchen during team competitions. I did not say leadership anywhere else. That does not negate the fact that cooking is also the final determination. We can only wait to see what happens. If Marcel outcooks them all, that is great. Let him be Top Chef. I just believe there is more to being a Top Chef than being able to cook. Administration of assignments is important also. Maybe we need to agree to disagree on this and not make an issue of our different opinions. You have yours and I have mine.

Wow I honestly don't know what is more disturbing, the "incident" or everyone saying there should be a huge law suit and everyone besides Marcel should be in jail. Are people actually comparing this to rape?!? How offensive is that to anyone who has been unfortunate enough to be a rape victim. I honestly cannot even begin to picture the LAPD's reaction to all of this. "Yes I'm on this reality tv show. My drunk roommates and fellow constestants woke me up from a dead sleep, pinned me on the floor and pretended they were going to shave off my hair. Then I got rug burns!!" Seriously do you think that taking away law enforcement who are trying to keep rapists and murderers off the streets for that is neccessary?!? Spending tax money on a court case for that?!? I'm not condoning what happened at all but it's not the end of the world, and definitely not the most heinous thing I've seen in my whole life. For pete's sake editing can be amazing sometimes. Who knows how long that went on etc. And saying they all deserve to go home is disgusting as well. Sam did say stop and was refusing to do what they were doing after being prodded. He said it was extremely akward. None of the chefs on this show have liked Marcel, and neither did a good portion of the audience. He went from being portrayed as the villian (intentionally trying to mess Betty up, Frank's incident, whining constantly) to being portrayed as the underdog. It's exactly like Project Runway from this season, although I highly doubt Marcel will win. What happened was wrong no doubt about that. But, does it really deserve this huge uproar? It's hard to believe everyone's watching the same show. It's supposed to be about cooking, and has turned into just another reality show. I miss the contestants from last season. I even enjoyed watching Stephen and Tiffany more than this. At least they all were VERY passionate about food, and that was the focus of the show. It feels like that's lost now. That these guy's are lacking the passion that was felt last season. I just hope Sam wins, he seems to be the all around best chef. Even if he didn't tackle Cliff off Marcel or start screaming "Stop," he has managed to pull himself together every time (well besides the watermelon )in the kitchen. Plus if you really are going to be this picky that they should go home for not saying anything, then Marcel should go home for tackling Elia at the beach and shoving the camera into I guess Ilan's face. I hope this begins to start focusing on the food more these last two episodes. And why are the producers so angry that they shaved their own heads??? There's nothing wrong with that at all. I agree about the law suits and making Cliff out to be Sadam Hussein.
But it was scary enough to be creepy and from the reactions
of a vast majority of peeps it seems that many feel the same..it was way over the line...Cliff is HUGE...Marcel is not.
Marcel was sleeping ..He didn't know what was happening to him......YUCK....The only reason I ever mentioned rape is because the way Ilan was screaming with glee..it did remind me of that Jodie Foster movie.Come ON Sam...Over and over.
I'm sure he was scared and you shouldn't have to be scared on a TV show of this nature....It is after all...all about the cooking ...No???

I mentioned it earlier a couple of times that the movie with Jodie Foster, "The Accused," is a perfect example of inciting an incident like this and that all concerned would be just as culpable as Cliff!! They are all very lucky Marcel is so forgiving!! I'm not so magnanimous!! Someone would be in hancuffs being excorted out if it happened to me!! They cut their hair the world will go on, with Marcel's rug burns and all!!
Nobody...I don't think is comparing this to a henious crime...Just a very stupid..unprofessional and cruel thing to do to someone....He did nothing to warrant this and
YES..They should have been sent home at the very least.
What if???...What if he had broken his back??....Neck???
It can and has happened.
You just don't put your hands on peeps...Period!
I agree completely it was very wrong! Hands should be off. But, it's just not as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. Cliff got sent home and left in a good manner. He apologized, and Marcel accepted it. They are very lucky that all Marcel had was rug burns, but I doubt Cliff intended to hurt him at all. If he had then yes other measures should've been taken. But the what if's didn't happen. He got the rightful boot because Bravo can't have that. For those exact reasons the what if's and potential law suits if one of those what if's had happened. Marcel did handle it well (besides the camera being shoved but hey what do you expect?) he actually handled it very well. So the fans should just be happy it's over, happy there's still episodes for us to watch, and food to be admired. Cliff's gone, the others feel bad about what happened, and Marcel sucked it up and acted more than cordial considering what happened. Police don't need to be involved, I'm sure everyone on the show knew that. There's much more important things out there then this for LAPD to deal with. Plus, think of it this way if they had sent everyone else home and Marcel automatically won do you think he'd be happy? He'd win by a default, not based on talent. He's not who I want to win, but I'd think he'd want to win for his food, not because of a drunken prank.

Jazzie ..How is your mother????
I wanted to post and ask....I hope all is well.
Kristl....thank you for asking, I was catching up as a distraction to the last few days. My mom took a turn for the worse, and to honor her living will, the family had her taken off machines and meds on Monday and she passed away two hours later. We are honoring her wishes by celebrating the 9000+ extra sunrises she shared with us. She always told us that every day after her 50th birthday was a gift, and since she almost made it to 76 years old....well, we did the math, and it came out to over 9000 extra days that we had her with us beyond her own expectation. We are celebrating the facts the in those 9000+ days, she was gifted with the marriages of both her younger daughters, the birth of her only grandson, and seeing that grandson (her "bud", my son) make it to teenager-hood. I miss her.
Dear Jazzie,
You have been in my thoughts and prayers ever since CALady posted for you about your mom. I'm so sorry for your loss. The beautiful story you shared is a testament of love for your mother. Take care and be well,

Wow, Sorry to hear of your loss, J. I had to "unplug" my Dad as well, and I know how tough it can be. Sounds like she had a grand life and was surrounded by love. What a great blessing. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

Thanks... I appreciate the thought. I do expect I'll be popping in and out of the boards as things settle for me in my day to day life. The drama-trauma on the TC episode and boards is, at least, a distraction.
Thank you again

It's a freakin' reality show. Even if they did have their own camera (the TC's) there were absolutely other people there, had to be. It's just more dramatic to use the camera that the TCs used. Reality TV is just as much real as Pamela Anderson's boobs.
Interesting.
Did the producers set up the chefs for an incident?
- They gave the chefs a camera AND booze (remember how Mikey had to use contest money for beer so it doesn't seem to be extra booze lying aorund)
- How did the cameraman happen to be in the hallway WITH A CAMERA as Marcel came out?
- If the cameraman was alerted my Marcel's screams, why didn't he run in to help? Cliff held him for a long time
It seems Andy is the loser who coordinated tonight's events - from the drunken acts of the chefs to the live call-in show.
Before that skank Padma starts attcking the chefs, she might want to pick on that loser Andy first.
(Firstly, Good evening, all)
I know it's replaying later tonight, but someone mentioned SEEING Elia in the footage as Marcel was going into the bathroom. Now, if Ilan was yelling from the other room, and if Cliff and Marcel were on-camera, and if Sam were sitting away from all the going-ons, WHO WAS FILMING IT ALL OTHER THAN THE BRAVO CAMERA CREWS THEMSELVES?!
I have to watch it again to be sure of what the woman said, but she SWORE she saw Elia on-camera also, so that would mean Bravo not only KNEW what was going on AS it was going on, but was trying to "create controversy" to sell the final'e. They've already cut a few shows out of the schedule as it is (there was a scheduled "Reunion" show listed at TV.COM along with a few others. I kept the html if anyone wants to see it).
Hmmmmmmmmmm....... Veeeeery Interesting............
KINJIRU
Interesting. They originally HAD planned a reunion? Can you post the info on here???

end. That seems to be the pattern with the Bravo

Wow! Sorry not everyone posts on the Bravo boards all the time. Juvenile?? I don't think at all saying that the world will go on, and that the police have more important things to do then deal with rug burns is juvenile. Sorry that you just result to name calling. It's pretty funny that everyone but Marcel now involved in that show are just considered horrible people by a few viewers. It's a TV show!!! Life will go on! By the way the Gotti TV show is one of the worst to ever air, and the Gotti boys couldn't be more repulsive.
What is juvenile is down-playing what actually happened.
And ir sounds like you have never been pulled from your bed late at night while sleeping by someone twice your size and weight and then was picked up off the floor and taken to the ground in a hold that has been banished from high school and colege wrestling because it has caused too many broken necks, and all the while having people who have previously threatened and screamed in your face, laughing and egging the assaulter on.
These were and are not Marcel's friends. They are not high school or frat boys, they are not brothers...they are people who intensely dislike and hate Marcel and want him gone. And everyone knows that.
You have no idea of the terror the psyche goes through. Nor the strain put upon the physical heart.
And if you did, you and those like you would never write what you have written. And it's only that ignorance that saves you from the condemnation you would otherwise deserve.
You have uneccessarily exaggerated the general concerns expressed in this forum. It was an aggressive assault. It could have resulted in serious physical injury, even death, especially considering Cliff's drunken state and resulting impaired judgment. It could have been pursued legally. Marcel chose not to. Good for him.
Any attempt to dilute it's seriousness is just as heinous in nature as the assault itself. We watch for children who torture animals because its an indicator of serious sociopathic tendencies. So too any unwanted physical assault by an unfriendly person upon another innocent person asleep in the safety of his home, temoprary or otherwise.
The inviolatibilty of the human person is a sacred and cherished right in a free society. The sole purpose of our laws is to protect that god-given right. No one should ever be made to feel in jeopardy of it. Ever.

Puff-ball interview of Cliff at http://bloggingtopchef.blogspot.com/
Blatant anti-Marcel bias excusing the brat pack mentality on interviewer's part:
TC: What was with Ilan talking about Marcel being a virgin? Were they playing?
CC: I took it as a dig. They were breaking balls. I wouldn’t have gotten upset.
BTC: It’s like one of those nights at work when you go at each other, then you are like, “hey, sorry let's go get a beer”.
CC: Right.
Yeah, right.
Agree. Not a very good interview.

Actually Virginia is great...excellent weather, close to DC, the mountains, the ocean...taxes suck, but hey! Low cost of living. The baptists are more amusing than annoying, esp now that we got rid of Macaca Allen, but it definitely is not Chicago in terms of night life unless you are in DC where the traffic is straight from hell.
The only peeps I know in Oak Park are a bunch of jesuits. Oak Park has some Frank Lloyd Wright and beautiful homes, as you obviously know. When I worked at Northwestern, I lived in Evanston, which i think is my favorite suburb.
Atlanta not my fav, but some friends moved their recently, artists...like it ok. South is definitely different, both good and bad. People not as friendly ("Stop by anytime" really DOES mean "don't you dare!") but they will do anything for you if you are in need. Springs is absolutely stunning with the dogwoods, azalaleas...and it lasts for months...not the two days as it does in Chicago! LOL

I just watched again....We haven't even talked about the sweet parts of the show. Those couples in the restaurant were all so sweet...Then Marcel was helping Cliff..So sad to think what comes later.....Marcel pops the champange...
After seeing it again the shock has worn off and I am more angry this time that no one says to Tom...Hey Cliff wasn;t the only one involved.Chickens!!!
I really noticed something too...Elia has gone to their side now..At judges table she won't even look at Marcel....He rubs her head after they are told they are going and she looks away. She's being hugged by Ilan on the way out...Elia says nothing about being remorseful at JT either..She almost looks indignant......Peeps do have to lie to themselves to justify bad behavior....She may have said those things but they don't show it....Ilan moved in her room and hmmmm.
In the previews she's saying..Typical Marcel behavior.Who does that sound like???
OK I could be wrong....Maybe he is a deeeeek..I just don't see it and I am trying to keep an open mind....Remember she thought Cleeeef was a deeek.
Ilan is outside stroking her hisssy fit over the dessert.
So is this real affection or working her???
