I suppose it's not intended, but it shor ees funny!
it'd be really funny if he shaved his head! sorta like, and there you go. I was watching last season a few days ago and sitting fuming over Dave's going home in vegas and her taking credit for his fab dessert but was like, now this kind of drama, I can handle! haha. it was so much more innocent. I think that it was all engineered by Bravo to make everyone more accepting of Tiff so they can bring her out like DAve and LeAnne. anyone noticed, she is the only one of the last four who has nothing to do with bravo? I wonder if is her or them?
here's another wild conspiracy theory. I wonder if the winner will offer Marcel the money in apology? that'd be crazy. I mean, I agree, they should have sent them all home. but I don't think they should have declared Marcel winner by default. but perhaps offered him the money and gave no one the title? I guess they couldn't do that though. his food just hasn't been that great. he's been in the middle mostly and a few times on the bottom of the pile.
They need to bring Tiffani back to serve as a kind of 'guard' to watch them in the kitchen while they cook. I can see her now..'SHUT THAT REFRIDGERATOR DOOR!! CLEAN THAT UP! GET AWAY FROM HIS POT! MOOOOOVE IT!!! NO SEXUAL COMMENTS ALLOWED YOU FUKWAD! CHICKEN LIVERS AND CHOCOLATE?? WTF ARE YOU THINKING??" lol
Tiffani would shine.

WOW! Listen to this about the "Assault"
"Let's talk about the most controversial moment on the show, when Cliff, Ilan and Sam assaulted you in the last challenge.
"I'm taking a nap on the couch, and Cliff picked me up in a full-nelson, tossed me on the floor. The plan was to toss me around like a rag doll and have Ilan hold a camera and Sam shave me while Cliff held me down."
Sounds like something out of Lords of Discipline.
"Exactly! I broke free and told them to get away from me. I went into my room and tried to take a nap, and Cliff follows me in there and starts hurling chocolate bars at me! I then had to go to another room and lock the door."
NO wonder Cliff is trying to act all kissy-face. Unbelievable. Children.
Marcel rocks the house.
"Children"? If you're referring to the "children" depicted in "The Lord of the Flies," I'll agree.
With that new information, it makes TC giving Cliff unopposed airtime/nettime to spin his assault even more radically obscene.
I read elsewhere that Marcel ended up sleeping in the bathroom that night; I would guess he finally ended up there because it was the only room with a door that locked.
And they sent these [expletive deleted] to Hawaii? Great endorsement of their behavior.

I understand that you think that our reaction makes light of real assaults, but that is entirely not the case. What happened to Marcel is unacceptable behavior and the kind of assaults you describe are also unacceptable. What I have a problem with is that you said:
"There was no danger"
We all saw Cliff hold Marcel down by his neck. That could easily turn into a very serious injury. Like some hockey player got punched in the neck and now he's paralyzed. Yes, Cliff did not go into this planning to hurt Marcel but it could happen. The fact that nothing more serious than rug burn and bruises happened does not change its unacceptability.
Exactly. To the victim, ALL assaults are equally real To assign realativre value is to diminish another's reality. They do it all the time in dictatorships. Minimize the small stuff so the big stuff looks even less evil.
Like those who think that stealing office supplies is not the same as embezzling 100K. They ar edifferent in amount, but exactly the same in kind. They are both theft.
it's called relative morality and a sure path to a corrupt character. let alone social chaos.
Stop the hand wringing okay?
Marcel did a interview recently with a Las Vegas newspaper in which he compares the incident to something druken frat guys do, and says he was so pissed afterward he was thinking about smashing a lamp over one of their heads.
HERE:
http://www.lasvegasweekly.com/2007/01/18/feature2.html
OBVIOUSLY some people here calling Marcel a "victim" when in reality HE DOES NOT SEE HIMSELF AS ONE, and apparently he never felt threatened at all.
As a matter of fact he said he went into his bedroom after the incident and Cliff started to horseplay even more and was throwing chocolate bars at him. That's when Marcel was like, enough of this sh*t, I'm sleeping in the bathroom.
Marcel knows it was stupid druken frat house type behavior ...why is it people here want it turned into some major crime, comparing to real assault victims??
If HE did not feel threatened or like it was an assault, why the hell are some here continuing this HYSTERICAL hyperbole?
Talk about disproportionate response.
I do not condone 'Jackass' type antics from that night, but what is MORE scary is the response from some people.
Did it ever occur to you that Marcel may be minimizing this to save face? After all, it was his masculinity (so to speak) on the line against Cliffs.
Let me 'splain...
no, that would take too long...
Let me sum it up (<-- anybody who gets that movie reference wins cool points)
I don't know what it's like to be a dude, but I would imagine that any assault may be minimized & played off as rough-housing in order to save face.
Yikes! Dont you think you do a great disservice to Marcel by saying that? You are either saying he is weak, I do not believe he is, or that he is a liar.
Marcel seems far less upset over this then his fans.
Inigo Montoya agrees with me.

See your so wrong and you don't even know it. Top Chef isn't an actual workplace. In a workplace you can go home, go on the internet, watch tv, turn on the AC when its 120-130 degrees , go to the bathroom/ for a walk without asking etc... mainly if you you don't like someone you can get away from them.

Yikes! Dont you think you do a great disservice to Marcel by saying that? You are either saying he is weak, I do not believe he is, or that he is a liar.

No no no, not AT ALL. You've taken what I've said here out of context. I don't see Marcel as weak at all. I was just saying that pretty much in our society it is seen as normal masculine behavior for guys to wrestle each other down, and that any guy who might oppose such behavior may be seen as a wuss. Let me be clear, I think this was an assault & that it wasn't like two 5 yr old boys rough housing. But that if Marcel had screamed "Assault" then people may be seeing him as wimpy.
Guess you just need to be in my brain to understand, because I don't really know how to 'splain it any better. Lacking on my communication skills today.

What really is bad is Elia now wrapping herself in the cloak of the Christian faith, claiming how important it is to her, how she reads the Bible every day, yadda yadda yadda. Clearly, if she actually does study the Bible every day, she must be limiting it to the Book of Job, because NOTHING that Jesus Christ ever espoused was reflected in her actions that night.
I was in Job's Daughters (an organization with Masonic affiliation) for many years, and if nothing else, the lessons of Job taught us that in the face of adversity, one must have absolute faith in the face of challenge, the knowledge that you will, indeed, be tested, that your adversary can and will test you to your very limits (you may not win, but if you do, you'll be rewarded a hundred fold), and that forgiveness--of your God, The Adversary and those around you--is all part of something beyond our scope but within our possibilities.
All that may not have been on Elia's mind that night of shearing, but I'm willing to bet it was the morning after, and I think she was counting on the fact that "forgiveness" was a fairly big deal in Christ's book as well as Job's.
I'm not especially "Christian" anymore, but if Elia wants to "cloak herself in the Christian faith," then that's her own bugaboo and her own "cross to bear," and maybe she doesn't even feel she did anything worth repenting for.
Religion is such a touchy subject overall, and kind of creepy when applied to a reality show, but since it was brought up and all ...
IC, sorry for not being more clear in my original reference to Job. Sometimes one can assume others get a reference, and often they don't.
I'll try again.
1) Elia has made it a point of extensively claiming that she believes in God, reads the Bible every day, etc.
My point was that what she claims is different than how she acts, and not just as a collaborator/co-conspirator in the assault on Marcel.
We see this, unfortunately, a lot in America in Christian celebrities. Rev. Haggard in Colorado is a good example.
2) The point I was trying to make about Job --and obviously didn't do a very good job of it--is that Job suffered mightily from the Old Testament God who--as Lewis Black (the comedian) says--could be a [expletive deleted] at times. Job's suffering occurred when Satan met God and God was bragging about how wonderful Job was. Satan told God that Job was only good because he had such a good life and tragedy hadn't really beset him. Satan challenged God, saying that if God allowed Satan to make Job suffer unspeakable tragedy, that Job would denounce God.
God agreed to the deal and allowed Satan to visit terrible tragedy on Job. Still Job praised God. So Satan asked God if he could have another go at Job, and God again allowed Satan to torment Job.
During all of this, God--who could have stopped Job's suffering at any time--did not intervene.
So my reference to Elia, if she actually reads the Bible, probably focuses on the Book of Job, is making a comparison about a man (Job) being tormented, without cause, by childish co-conspirators/collaborators (God and Satan). God, who is supposed to love and care for us, allowed the tormenting to continue, even when God could have stopped it, for very childish reasons (i.e., Elia, who is supposed to care for Marcel, for very childish reasons, allows the tormenting to continue).
3) I don't see how Elia could NOT know what she did is wrong. If she is Christian, she follows the teachings of Christ, and what she did that night was very much against the teachings of Christ. Marcel was being physically attacked and was obviously in distress. Even afterwards, Cliff/Sam/Ilan continued to harass him. Elia did nothing to stop it, and Marcel ended up sleeping on the bathroom floor, without a blanket or pillow. I can't see anybody believing that is what Christ would advocate.
4) Unfortunately, many Christians do things they know they shouldn't and then believe that everything should be forgiven because they have prayed to God about it and God--so they say--has forgiven them.
I believe that is a set-up for a religion of sociopaths. We see this evident in politics in America where, time and time again, "Christian" politicians or politicochristian celebrities will be involved in the most heinous things and then claim everything's a-okay because God forgave them. Then they go on and continue to do other bad things, and again use the "God forgave me" get out of jail free card.
I can't understand how Elia, involved as she was in the assault in Marcel, has the nerve to claim she is Christian, is very religious, reads the Bible everyday, etc., etc. It makes my head spin to read such duplicity.
I have a suspicion that she brought out the God card in an attempt to make herself look better after her actions on TC. "Christians" who are involved in bad things and then wrap themselves in the cloak of their God often do so to convince the gullible that they really are, at heart, a Christian, despite what their actions portray.
Just my opinion...your mileage may vary.

HAving read the article, I am now convinced Marcel won.
And deservedly so. They really did torture him.
Ilan? reminds of that pitiful creature in Lord Of The Rings...who keeps saying "precious, my precious...." Sad.
Marcel is DOPE!
I do. But of course I'monly guessing from the various clues. What I do know is that once Marcel's story does get out...as it is now...sympathy wil be wholly in his corner and Betty, Sam, Elan, and Elia should take themselves to a monastery/convent.
I can see people boycotting Grub in LA or Casa Mono in NYC and Salute in Jersey....not something I would endorse, but people are pretty passionate about this show and especially about how Marcel has been treated.
It really is astonishing that Tom C lends his name and reputation to this crap. They should have booted the brat pack as Tom requested and given the 100K to Marcel. If he loses, and sues now, I wouldn't blame him at all.
There were other alternatives to sending those involved in the assault to Hawaii. The easiest would have been to bring back the last 2 chefs that were sent home.
An alternative solution (which is more in line with the apparent mindset of the TC producers/judges) would be to grab a couple of rejected contestants from the new "You Want to be a White Rapper" reality show.
Except that the White Rapper contestants have higher moral character, better ethics, and certainly better leadership skills, than the contestants they are replacing, and they may not want to have their reputations damaged by being associated with the Top Chef show.
