Yes who knows what these people are like in real life. So why send so much of your time trying to explain Marcel's behavior with possible medical conditions and trying to badmouth the rest of them with your psychobabble?
So if you admit you have no idea what these people are like in real life are you also admitting that your analysis of them is pure reckless speculation and possibly slander?
Slander would assume I know them and am treating them as real people whom I know. I don't. I treat them as fictional characters. And yet, they are public figures, as it were. Yes, it's a crazy mix of fact/fiction etc. SO goes the lives of those who put themseves in the public view.

What about the timeline? Why were we led to believe the shaving of Elia's and Ilan's heads occurred before the assault on Marcel, and not after?
It's clear in the video that after Marcel breaks away from Cliff and leaves the room, he walks past Elia (on the floor, apparently laughing) with her full head of hair.
Why would Bravo mislead us about this? Has there been any kind of explanation?

Really you think he won? I hope so. His responses to interviews really confirms what I gathered from various sources. While Ilan just comes across as kinda crazy, have you seen his audition video on bravo? He's so fidgety and bragged about stupid things like getting fired for personality conflicts and how he likes to argue. I feel sorry Marcel had to put up with people like that.

HAving read the article, I am now convinced Marcel won.
And deservedly so. They really did torture him.
Ilan? reminds of that pitiful creature in Lord Of The Rings...who keeps saying "precious, my precious...." Sad.
Marcel is DOPE!
I do. But of course I'monly guessing from the various clues. What I do know is that once Marcel's story does get out...as it is now...sympathy wil be wholly in his corner and Betty, Sam, Elan, and Elia should take themselves to a monastery/convent.
I can see people boycotting Grub in LA or Casa Mono in NYC and Salute in Jersey....not something I would endorse, but people are pretty passionate about this show and especially about how Marcel has been treated.
It really is astonishing that Tom C lends his name and reputation to this crap. They should have booted the brat pack as Tom requested and given the 100K to Marcel. If he loses, and sues now, I wouldn't blame him at all.
There were other alternatives to sending those involved in the assault to Hawaii. The easiest would have been to bring back the last 2 chefs that were sent home.
An alternative solution (which is more in line with the apparent mindset of the TC producers/judges) would be to grab a couple of rejected contestants from the new "You Want to be a White Rapper" reality show.
Except that the White Rapper contestants have higher moral character, better ethics, and certainly better leadership skills, than the contestants they are replacing, and they may not want to have their reputations damaged by being associated with the Top Chef show.

You could be totally correct in you assessment, but then you could be in error also. I don't know, and have no real clue if they were there or not. No one has come forth to say they were or weren't there.
The proof lies in the Executive Producer's blog. They knew NOTHING about the assault until Marcel mentioned it in passing during an interview the following day. Only then did they confiscate the tape. So, either the Executive Producer is out-and-out lying, which I find hardly credible, even for this gang, or it is as she said. If someone on sataff had been filming, they would have known about it immediately, and Tom would have been called imediately,
Simple enough I think.
The producers have shown quite well how desperate they are to cover their as*ses by allowing Cliff unopposed airtime/nettime to spin his assault on Marcel into something that happened by him, basically a nice guy, because of...whatever his excuse du jour is.
If all we have is the producers' word on it---I don't think it can be taken as a fact.

There is no way an Executive Producer is going to lie in black and white in public at the risk of ruining her career or job. What hapopened in Season 1 is not necessarily what happened in Season 2. Of course, she MAY be lying, but it just seems too far-fetched.
I don't think a producer lying about something that happened on the show, especially where the show in question has had liability-potential events occur, is going to damage their career. I think they will end up enhancing their career potential.
Also, isn't it interesting that Marcel finally sought sanctuary in the bathroom? I assumed it was because it is the only room with a lock on it, and the torment was continuing by Sam/Ilan/Cliff, with Elia either standing by mutely or laughing her *ss off.

I'm sorry, but I do not take this kind of show seriously. I've said that many times both in this list and when I was posting in Project Runway. To me, it's a big soap opera. My comments are no different than if I was talking about characters on Dynasty. I am under no illusion that my coments have any real effect on the contest (how could it?) nor on their real lives. If there is any spill over into their real lives, it's because of ewhat they' themselves have done on national TV and people's willingness to believe that a TV show can reprersent the true nature of a human being.
It's all over-the-top. Every bit of it.
We all have real friends, real jobs, real lives that have nothing to do with these contrived shows. That's where we are real. Not in some ersatz world of message boards where people hide behind anonymous names. And no jury would think otherwise, nor any reasonable person.
Real chefs get real jobs and work their way up like everyone else. They deserve and get our respect. This is nothing more than cheap entertainment.

But if it is also the only place where filming is allowed, that adds another reason.
I don't think that they (production) lied about not being there as well. Think about it, there were five people who were there who could publicly refute that lie.

Not really. I mean unless you are under the care of a strict Freudian doctor, you would probably assume that was the only door with a lock on it.

What is funny to me is that the winner has already been selected, that happen months ago. All we can do now is watch and see how this all turns out. No comments are going to change the outcome of this season....
Exactly.
Actually, I disagree about that. The final episode may have been taped, but it's not aired. We have 2 weeks to influence them. They can still strip a non marcel winner. If Tom was indeed duped about the order of events, he may well come back at them with a change it or *I'm* not here next season.
Funny, I've read these boards since the start of season 1. Never joined up. Other people said what I would have. But I just had to point out that, just liked they taped extra interview stuff post shave that was used in many earlier epis, they can drag them back and do whatever they want. Will they? Doubtful. But they CAN.
Whaaaa? Lay off the weed!! LOL I am so sure that they are going to strip someone of their title based on a BB. OMFG!! ROFL

This was a lighted room, with a production crew (what did bravo just take the night off???)
Have you forgotten that the chefs borrowed the camera from the production crew?
and we are to beleive that bravo wasn't taping anything that night because the kids borrowed a camera? I dont' think so....
why? were you there? know a cameraman who was? know one of the assaulters?
Do you really think bravo would not film that night...after having them under camera for 24/7? it just doesn't make sense. they film them everywhere but the bathroom...that's been said by harold. So waht if the kids borrowed a camera....how does that translaste into bravo not filming. No I wasn't there...none of us were...which is why I don't take what happened on that film as cannon.
Here read this:

What a piece of CYA *hit. Producers are [expletive deleted], I'm telling you.
I loved this one:
"I've been producing television for about 12 years now and nothing quite like this has happened to me before -- it was a strange and uncomfortable situation for everybody. Of course it does make for a very compelling episode and for a producer 'compelling' stories are the holy grail. But this is one story I would prefer not to be telling."
"Compelling"?! "...'for a producer 'compelling stories' are the holy grail"?!?
A freaking ASSAULT occurred. They were sorry to see Cliff go? Why is that? Were they hoping he'd assault Elia next, while she was sleeping--wow, that would REALLY make a "compelling" story.
The producer make think it is a "compellng story," but, believe me, it is one I'll never watch again. That episode--and others where Marcel was harassed by the other chefs--are actually repulsive to me now.
One of the comments added to the blog asked a very relevant question. The producer said that a member of the production staff was sleeping in a room next to theirs and Marcel didn't go ask for help or report the incident.
How about Elia, Sam or Ilan going to ask for help? or report the incident?
With the editing of the first episodes showing Marcel to look much worse than apparently he is, and now this "blame the victim" approach and "coddle the perpetrators" approach of the producers, it's quite clear that they are more concerned with CYA than anything else.

You said it, but i believe that is EXACTLY the difference between hazing/harassment and Assault/Battery.
If Cliff didn't have the beer(s), would he have still been so easily lured by Elia and Ilan into doing what was done? I don't think so. I honestly don't think Cliff's the type of guy to WANT to tempt fate (and a prison record. He's a CHEF, not a SH!T).
KINJIRU
No, he's a SH!T. Alcohol doesn't make someone an *sshole. It reveals the *sshole that is already there but covered up by a facade of civility.
That willingness to assault a colleague, someone smaller than himself, and when he was the most vulnerable--while sleeping--was there in Cliff before he took the first drink of alcohol. Just like it was in the rest of them to collaborate/co-conspire in the assault of Marcel.

Video says otherwise. And his claim that Marcel is "like my little brother" screams it.
If that is how Cliff treats his little brother, maybe he DID grow up in a crack den.

I don't smoke any. Maybe that's why you don't understand? You're hogging it all? ;-)
First off, I said they could, not would. In fact, I said they likely won't. But they COULD.
Secondly and most important. I'd like to believe Tom when he says that his knowledge is that they shaved their heads and then went after Marcel. Now, people are screaming in every which way to him with PROOF that the opposite in fact happened. Given this, then HE may well react, may he not?
I have no doubt that things are going just duckily for the producers. They think ratings of the moment, not long term. However, Tom has attached his name and therefore his rep to this show. He was talked into a different decision as it is. It is reasonable to exist that with new fuel for the fire, he may well take a stand.

Something about those cameras had me confused, so i called a buddy of mine that works on a film crew for a production company in NYC, and asked him about the viewfinders/displays on those things. According to him, if it showed a date format ( __/__/___ ) and the REC, then it should also have a RED FLASHING LIGHT (or the REC should be flashing as it records as a sign that "all is well/in working order"). He also said that the DATE would show THE DATE, and not be blank. The ONLY way it would be blank would be if the camera had no battery in it EVER, and it was reset to zero because of it. How many production crews do you know that keep handy "dead cameras"?
I think it was ALL planned. And it wasn't a "dark room". The room was extremely well-lit. If it WASN'T planned, then Ilan and Elia and Cliff should forget about cooking, and get into filming/production work, because they'd make a mint! The Blair Witch Project had NOTHING over what these three whackaloons pulled off with only a single camera.
I *DO* think that Elia and Ilan should have been sent home as well. This was "their game", so fine. Pay the piper.
KINJIRU
Could you ask your friend about a production camera crew using a small, hand-held like Ilan was using? It looked to me like something any one of us would/could buy, and certainly isn't the same camera as the ones I saw on a videoclip about the show.
After the producers blog called what happened to Marcel a "compelling story," I don't trust anything they say because they do not think like normal people.
