"For those of you in NYC, Salute! is having a wine tasting on 1/23 at 6:30 pm. Here's the menu (they misspelt "thyme!") - let's hope Cliff didn't puree the white beans on that sirloin, since the Judges were mystified over the pureed lentils.

Duck Confit& Foie Tortelloni, Porcini Mushrooms
Opus One 2002

Dry Aged Sirloin, Roasted Garlic White Bean,

If Cliff didn't have the beer(s), would he have still been so easily lured by Elia and Ilan into doing what was done? I don't think so. I honestly don't think Cliff's the type of guy to WANT to tempt fate (and a prison record. He's a CHEF, not a SH!T).

KINJIRU

Video says otherwise. And his claim that Marcel is "like my little brother" screams it.

If that is how Cliff treats his little brother, maybe he DID grow up in a crack den.

Actually Amazon, while not condoning Cliff at all..I was the yoongest of 3 boys..and I underwent much worse than what happened to Marcel..and this was middle class suburbia. Of course none of us were 26 or 28 years old when that [censored] went down either..right?

Alcohol doesn't turn someone into an *sshole. Alcohol doesn't make someone, who doesn't already have the moral character to do so, sneak up on a sleeping colleague and assault him. It's already there, simply masked by a facade.

The only "face value" we have to take it at is the apparent "face value"--here's a guy who is willing to assault someone much smaller than him, after attacking his victim when he was the most vulnerable...when sleeping.

Regarding on what kind of "world" Cliff lives in, if he is top chef material he damn well knows that you cannot assault a colleague. Even if he is so socipathic that he doesn't think there is anything wrong with it, he must know that if he does it he (and the restaurant for which he works) will be in a whole world of legal hurt.

I think Sam, Ilan and Elia played Cliff like a $2 banjo. I think they had all agreed to get Cliff sent home, and that is why, once Cliff got Marcel down on the ground, no one came in to do what they apparently had promised to do--their end of the assault, shaving Marcel.

By the way---where did they get the clippers used to shave their heads? Supposedly all they can bring in are personal grooming aids. Who uses professional-style hair-clippers, designed to take off a lot of hair at a time, in their personal grooming kit?

What is funny to me is that the winner has already been selected, that happen months ago. All we can do now is watch and see how this all turns out. No comments are going to change the outcome of this season....

Exactly.

Actually, I disagree about that. The final episode may have been taped, but it's not aired. We have 2 weeks to influence them. They can still strip a non marcel winner. If Tom was indeed duped about the order of events, he may well come back at them with a change it or *I'm* not here next season.

Funny, I've read these boards since the start of season 1. Never joined up. Other people said what I would have. But I just had to point out that, just liked they taped extra interview stuff post shave that was used in many earlier epis, they can drag them back and do whatever they want. Will they? Doubtful. But they CAN.

Whaaaa? Lay off the weed!! LOL I am so sure that they are going to strip someone of their title based on a BB. OMFG!! ROFL

I don't smoke any. Maybe that's why you don't understand? You're hogging it all? ;-)

First off, I said they could, not would. In fact, I said they likely won't. But they COULD.

Secondly and most important. I'd like to believe Tom when he says that his knowledge is that they shaved their heads and then went after Marcel. Now, people are screaming in every which way to him with PROOF that the opposite in fact happened. Given this, then HE may well react, may he not?

I have no doubt that things are going just duckily for the producers. They think ratings of the moment, not long term. However, Tom has attached his name and therefore his rep to this show. He was talked into a different decision as it is. It is reasonable to exist that with new fuel for the fire, he may well take a stand.

Are you for serious? LOLZ Can you imagine the dialogue??

Tom: Sam, hand back over the MF $100,000 dude

Sam: Why?

Tom: because some chick named cassie said I COULD do this. We are sending over a truck to p/u all of the kenmore appliances too.

At this moment, I'm choosing to believe that Tom is Honest. Given that, I know if I was talked into changing my mind on a decision due to being "Misinformed", I would do everything in my power to fix it. Yes, even if it stripped one winner over another. His name and rep are attached to the show, I'm sure he doesn't want to be remembered as someone easily dupable, or a person afraid to correct a wrong once he knows of it.

I mean seriously, If Sam "WON", he'd only be stripped of the win if the true order of events showed he should have been dq'ed before the final. If he wasn't to be dq'ed, no change in his win. Same for any of the others.

Slap some bacon (extra crispy, 'cause that's how they make it in Hell) and some Vidalia onion ('cause I have to offend as many senses as possible) on that burger, and I'm there!

Hi everyone....

I don't know if this topic was discussed or not, but I don't believe SAM was filled with alcohol. WHY?

He wears a diabetes pump which means he is probably a juvenile diabetic Type 1. If he drank enough NOT to know better, his blood pressure would be on the floor thus affecting his liver greatly. Juvenile diabetes, unfortunately,
gives one about a 30-35 yr. life span. Hopefully, it is now longer with new medications.

NOPE....Sam was quite sober yet still didn't help another person in need. He just sat in the chair and laughed. Also notice he didn't shave his hair either. I guess he didn't want his fellow "contestants" think he would rat on him thus not telling the producers.....Remember, a TC needs people to work for them in the kitchen <remember Harold vs. Tiffini?>

I guess "playing a game" interfers with a person's logic? Tom C. wanted all three to go.....Yet for the first time, the producers stepped in and said, "NO!"

I have said goodbye to the HoWeave board and now to the TC board. BRAVO has become the new "Jerry Springer."
I am not into violence or stupidity.

I feel Andy Cohen should be fired. His smile on his face during the interview with Cliff was disgusting....so was Gail's smile and pat on the back to Cliff.

The HoWeaves are a combination of emotional abuse of the families, and TC contained both emotional and physical to one young man.

NBC.....FIRE ALL OF THE PRODUCERS!

I don't like Marcel because he's been bullied, harrassed, abused, attacked, humiliated, and continually bashed by the show (who hates Marcel the most poll? are you kidding me?). I like Marcel because he handles himself with much more aplomb than the rest of the lot on tc. He's shown over and over again the true meaning of professionalism. While his food may not be stellar imo being a tc isn't ALL about the food. It's about maturity and being able to handle yourself in the most stressing circumstances. Which clearly he has shown to be the truth not once but over and over again....

Hi everyone! I haven't posted much this season because even though I'm watching the show I just don't like any of the contestants. I think at this point Sam will win but I just think, "Meh...who cares?" Last season I loved Harold and Dave and LeeAnne and felt that I had people to pull for...people that I thought would add something to the world of culinary arts.

So, anywho...a big wave to all my old board buddies and a big :-P phtttttttttt to this season's a$$hats.

Oh man oh man, do i know where YOU are coming from! There was such a black & white difference between last season's offerings and this season's. Last season, you had CHEFS in the competition. This season you have glorified wannabies and untalented "Line Cooks". A waste of videotape tp the extreme.

So far, even the Marcel-fans know Sam's going to win it in the final'e. Last season you were guessing to almost the end (but WELL DONE, HAROLD!).

KINJIRU

I would be surprised if anybody but Marcel won. It's bad enough that Bravo endorsed the assault of Marcel by sending the co-conspirators/collaborators to Hawaii...but to let one of them win?

I admit, I have to agree. I grew up with six brothers. And someone was always in the hospital...because of "rough-housing." On the other hand, we were like under the age of 18. But brothers have a special relationship which make that kind of behavior understandable. The weird thing is, no one believes Cliff considered Marcel like a little brother. Why he has come out with that line is truly beyond me. I mean, it's so lame-o.

Everyone's engaging in the same behaviors now, display. The "haters" are doing what they've always done, and the "lovers" are doing what they've debased the haters for engaging in all along--the condescending "isolating" and "degrading" behavior they claimed was targeted at Marcel.

They've taken all that ammo and aimed it elsewhere, that's all. Voicing your opinion is one thing. Making it personal is another.

The boards have been a common ground for discussion for a lot of weeks, and it's only recently become a sandbox where they drew the line between the Marcel lovers and the Marcel haters. Discussion was civil, and so was debate, until now. Now that gloves and all bets are off, I guess even civility makes no difference.

This was a competition, not a professional kitchen. Where the stakes were high, which is bound to bring out the greedy evil in some. Not 100% of the contestants hated Marcel, he just happened to be the proverbial runt of the litter. An easy target because he didn't fight back. It's quite easy to follow how this snowballed out of control.

Are the words too big for you to understand?

Simple.

Let's assume Tom is both truthful in what he's said so far in the matter AND a standup person. The fact that SOMEONE lied to him about the sequencing, and therefore the nature of what happened to Marcel, may well indeed make a standup honest person rethink a decision and act accordingly. Notice I did not say that action would be to give the win to Marcel.

If Tom knows the real deal and is playing along with production and the story to do...well something I guess, then nothing will change.

I've never been a Marcel Fan, but I'm not a hater either. I think he should have to compete against the last 3 standing chefs that were not breaking contest rules in a way to get them DQ'ed. That would be fair, both by my understanding of the rules they agree to and by (I hope) society values that ganging up on people does not earn you a reward. That behavior would get them dq'ed from any smart kitchen in the world.

Amazon has made it an art form to bash, even if she is dead wrong and proven to be so, yet continue on as if she is that God Warrior from Trading Spouses or whatever it was called.

It's only natural that X percent of people are going to pull for Marcel because he is most decidedly they underdog. That's completely understandable. But some of these folks cross the line of sanity into Conspiracy City.

Quite to the contrary, in a "profesional" kitchen a "professional" chef does not inspire hatred in 100% of his co-workers. That won't even fly at Dairy Queen.

See, imo I don't think he inspired the hate. I think he signed up for the wrong program. I'm positive he thought the show was about cooking and being a top chef. Instead he got thrown in with a pack of greedy back stabbing people who all used him as their whipping boy. No matter if you want to argue with me or keep this going I'm done. If you can't see the obvious when its right in your face then it makes no sense to argue. You don't get it and never will.

And why? I'm not getting the joke.

Yes, but you are equating a TC hellish competition kitchen full of "equals" to a real restaurant with a hierarchy and salaries. IF Marcel were that bad in real life, no way would he be in charge of line cooks in Robuchon's restaurant, as he is.

Well the analogy was a bit off the mark IMO, but then again so was the response.

They pick on Marcel beacause they don't like him. That's really all there is to it. Cliff crossed the line.

Interesting post from TWOP...can't gaurante the accuracy ...

Get this, I just got off the phone with my sister's fiance. He works in one of those five star, hard to get a reservation restuarants in NYC( i can't remember the name for the life of me, my memory sucks) and he gave me some cool info.

His boss and five other owners of those high end restuarants were originally interested in hiring some of the Clipper Clique(my sister's nickname for the asshats), but after watching that last episode, they were all foaming at the mouth to get at Marcel. They want NOTHING to do with Sam, Elia, Cliff or Ilan. And my sister's fiance is dying to work with Marcel. He's actually encouraging his boss to send a head hunter out to him.( I didn't even know the food world had head hunters.) Apparently all the cook/chefs that my sister's fiance(his name is Loki by the way) works with want Marcel.

I would guess that not too many employers are going to want the Assault Brigade working for them. Such poor, poor judgment...could leave them open to tremendous liability.

In addition, I don't think it would be a good refleciton on a restaurant, to have any of them working there.

And again you misrepresent me. You like doing that, or is it an accident?

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuh... ooookaaay *ah coo-coo coo-coo coo-coo*

Sorry, I fail to see the logic in any of your posts. So what if Tom had been lied to about the sequencing of events? It doesn't change the fact that it did all happen. What difference would it really make to him whether or not they shaved their heads b/4 or after the main event? My point being that your point is moot when it comes to stripping a winner of their title based the sequence of this particular event. It happened, they know about it, they collectively chose not to do anything about the three remaining contestants in question. Whether or not Tom agreed with the producers on their decision to let the show go on, he did ultimately agree to do it.

I think you are crazy for not seeing this, but whatevs.

Oh Lord, that's some mighty rosy glasses you are wearing, IC. With all due respect, there's been plenty of everything from all sides ever since Bravo boards began. All a matter of perspective. And your blame game only continues it. Almost all the big mouths are guilty of it...some much more than others. Some not at all..like sweet Actor. But we only see what we want to see. If I find someone, consistently annoying, I just ignore them. Just as some of those who find me consistently annoying ignore me. Just part of the big game called Top Chef Message Board...better than RISK! (well not really, but close)

Because the Bravo/Top Chef management did not step in when Frank's threat was made, I feel the Bravo/Top Chef team were just as guilty. They stood by and watched it develop also. So I believe the management is equally responsible for the actions of the last episode.

I think you are absolutely right. It would not be difficult to legally argue their culpability in creating a hostile environment...in a regular business, Ilan would have been fired long ago for sexual harassment.

And given the contractual nature of this show, it is technically a business, and subject to federal law.

Given the statute of limitations, it is no surprise that Bravo had Cliff on video Wed night putting out the "little brother" fiction. Marcel could sue at any time. I'm just glad he has the kind of integrity the others lack and won't stoop to a MickyD-style lawsuit.

Sexual Harassment? OF WHOM?! That's a big ol' Matzo Ball to throw out there. Whom did Ilan sexually harass?

KINJIRU

Ilan has continually denigrated Marcel with sexually oriented comments. It's using sexuality to exert power over another person. Based on other sexual harassment lawsuits, certainly Ilan's repeated sexual comments would qualify as sexual harassment.

Reason #43 why an employer would have to be crazy to hire Ilan. I used to think that some of them were redeemable with close supervision, but Ilan's behavior is so bizarre and unpredictable, he would be a potential liability in most work environments.

Well doesn't that go both ways? Aren't waJOKE, sooner, Kin(whatever), and the rest of the lot trying to "bully" everyone who is a Marcel fan to back down off this board so they can continue their stupid Marcel bashing, which frankly makes them all look like bravos minions, the "covens" friends, or the attackers themselves?

Not really. If just one person ever came on this board and said, "I like Marcel because his food is awesome!" I would be in shock. Most of you people just like him because everyone else hates him. That's got nothing to do with what this contest is supposed to be about.

I'm a "foodie", I like food. I watch the Food Network more than any other channel. I've never seen Project Runway and only a couple episodes of Queer Eye. I used to watch Kathy Griffin cause my wife liked it... but besides those exceptions and Top Chef I never even watch Bravo. I watch Top Chef becuase I like food, and Marcel's food does not impress me.

I watch TVFN religiously, Sooner, so I feel the same way. So much of this recent bickering has been about everything but the food. Marcel may have made some worthwhile dishes in the course of the show, but right now everyone's championing him not because of his culinary skills, but because they think he was "personally" wronged.

Should someone be awarded "Top Chef" honors for cooking the best food, or just because he's the guy most picked upon?

(And before anyone [read: You-Know-Who] decides to bring up my past posting of Sam's message during the Fan Favorite competition as "evidence" that I'm being somehow hypocritical or contradictory, the competitions are two different animals. "Fan Favorite" was and is just that, but "Top Chef" is supposed to be about the food.)

Well he has position there. If he were to go somwhere else he would have to start all over again. You don't walk onto a line and start telling people how to do things (like he did with Frank when he was preping a fish). Nobody is going to respond well to that kind of attitude even if he was right. Certainly not in this setting where they all have egos to protect.

BTW I'm not sure he was right? Frank seemed to be preping that salmon just fine to me?

Editing can make anything look other than what it is, including the horror going on in Iraq. Why do you think, from Day #1, that reporters' movements were highly restricted and often choreographed? With footage submitted for broadcast having to be approved in many cases?
