Based on toonight's show, it looks like Elia's gone over to the other side. She bonded with the 3 guys and didn't come to Marcel's aid.

Also, there was an article/interview conducted with Marcel where he talked about his friendship with her in the past tense. In the same thought, he talked about his relationship with LeAnn in the present tense. There was a link to this interview on the TWOP board.

Yep. looks like she is going to betray him in the next episode. We'll see.

I wonder if its true or shes doing it cause their in the finals and she was persuaded? not sure.

Well, it will depend on 1) if it is true.

and 2) if true, if Elia had the decency and courage to confront Marcel privately first OR if these are things she has known about for a while, but only now reveal because she has joined the pack.

More Hawaii-Five-O mysteries.....

LOL H, as sad as I am with this episode and the thought that Marcel cheated you STILL got a laugh out of me. You are tooo funny. Hawaii 5.0 lol

My question is if he did cheat, how? Hmmmm, should be interesting.

As a Executive Chef with 15 years experience, I can assure you that Marcel is NOT good at all. His Food is not thought out to the point that it would be well executed in a restaurant. He never thinks of the flavor of the food and then how he would make it better. His Salmon dish tonight was sooooo boring. And what is his thing with Salmon and beets, it is not that great of a combination. If he wins it will be out of luck and not skill. He has lost the real concept of good cooking , which is take a great ingredient and make its great flavors shine and is only interested in making stupid foams.

Welcomes the voice of reason to the board.

You could be McDoonald's fry flipper as far as we know. I thought Marcel's potato cannoli was exceptional..as did the guest judge. I'd take his word for it. While the salmon was average, at least it was not something one would not serve in a restaurant, like chocolate/liver truffle.

I doubt he'd be working for Robuchon if he was as bad as you make out.

Sam shined best, foodwise. No doubt about it. Wish he weren't such a wishy-washy leader.

He has a point, remember Marcel was going to try to do some asparagus wrapped in bacon for the kids at camp glucose, before Betty and Frank saved him from himself, not to mention the bacon and avacado icecream.

We all forgot, Elia is still burning inside with jealousy after Marcel fed chocolate to that actress during the "Seven" Challenge!! She lost interest totally and has "glommed" (sp) onto Ilan for support and succor!! From the picture I saw on her nightstand, Elia looks like she's romantically attached already!! I wonder what he thought about Ilan staying in that apartment alone with his girl!! (Just Starting Some Sh#t)!! lol!!

Yes, they are all young and arrogant, I never said they weren't. Rather, since everyone at this stage of their careers is still learning, I wish people would cut Marcel more slack. He's going to mature and learn how to word things in a less abrasive manner, it just takes time. Marcel expresses his personality in a way that it more abrasive than the others, and that's why people seem to hate him so much. But regardless of how annoying someone might be, there's no excuse for the behavior the others displayed tonight.

Just jumping in to say, I think the crowd borrowed the camera and did their own taping. I don't think any of the Bravo people were around the attempted shaving of Marcel's hair. I think Tom said that either tonight or in the trailer for this episode. Will try to find it.

I doubt it. Reality show contracts usually state that they will be video'd 24/7. Some friends applied for TC and that was in the contract. Basically you sign all your rights away (not really, as that is against the law, but they do their best to make you feel that way). But will be glad of any hard info you may receive.

I am aware that they sign their lives away, as do the PR cast does also.

I am trying to find the information about them borrowing the camera, I think Tom says it in the trailer when they are sitting at the judges table. He says something like they taped the ....... just can not remember the wording.

If so, how could Tom have found out about it before asnyone was awake. I definitely got the impression that it didn't come from Marcel.

I can't really answer that question unless the cooks returned the camera broken and producers watched the tape.

Elia never stuck up for Marcel, she is a coward like the rest of the ones who pick on Marcel and birds of a feather...
She is a weak person who should have gone home long ago and would have if Mia hadn't quit to save Elia's butt. Top Chef title will not be hers. How many times has this crybaby said "I quit" or done something really weird??? Like smearing the chocolate all over her face because she couldn't understand how the judges could have liked Cliff's dish in the QF challenge. And now, the whole shaving her head incident and joining the children on the playground of insulting Marcel...how could anyone support her? She needs to pack her knives and go back to being a room service cook.

Agreed her "quitting" snit dosesn't bode well for running a restaurant or kitchen. Marcel though recovered beautifully after the tray of food was knocked off by Cliff. Handling pressure one of the traits they are looking for.

Id be shaking a little if I was Tom...Cliff is HUGE!

And what is this supposed to mean? Chef Tom is no lightweight from what I see. But notwithstanding that, even though Cliff is a jerk and his actions were unjustifiable, he was under the influence of alcohol. While that is no excuse it is a stretch to say that Chef Tom should have been afraid because Cliff is "huge" when there has been no evidence of him having a propensity for physical violence.

It meant if it was ME...Id be scared...and yes, while he had no prior physical violent behavior ...he did tonight...I would have been scared...

thats what it meant

First of all, the subjunctive form is "If I WERE Tom..." That is presumably what you meant as well. Sorry but that and using "your" for "you're" are two major pet peeves for me.

Second, it says a lot that you would have been scared if you were Chef Tom just talking to Cliff surrounded by a camera crew AND with 4 other people in the next room. Television is certainly a powerful medium!

BOTTOM LINE. Top Chef producers aired one contestant assaulting another. There is no excuse for it. They should be held accountable.

And I quote from Tom:

Marcel’s chicken wasn’t great, but he had actually made a stab at chicken confit -- a preparation often used with duck leg, in which the meat is cured in spices and slowly cooked in its own fat. If the chicken confit had worked, it would have been unusual and delicious. Most likely Marcel cooked the wings at a temperature high enough to make them safe, but the faulty execution gave the dish a soft, undercooked texture and appearance. And though the judge’s confit discussion did not make it into the episode, we discussed it and agreed that, like Sam’s unsuccessful watermelon dish, Marcel’s chicken showed a stab at doing something interesting. Also, Marcel was responsible for the vegetable tempura, which all agreed was delicious.

Guys, please don't get me started on the Watermelon Steak....yes, I agree that he does not deserve the unwarranted bullying from the other cheftestants. However, I simply see Marcel in the same light as Mikey when it comes to skating by through the challenges based on luck and circumstances and not necessarily superior cooking skills. Flavor-wise, he definitely is not in the same class as Sam or Ilan, but his presentations are lovely. It still has to taste good though, and that's where I think the controversy lies when it comes to Marcel...do his flavor profiles really stand up as superior among the other chefs? I'm sure this would be a never-ending debate.

Right on! I totally agree--

Ilan is a coward and bully!

I will also add, that--

Sam: He's not a true leader. In tonight's episode, Sam just sat back and did NOTHING while Cliff was assualting Marcel right in front of him. Excuse me, isn't this the guy who touts himself as being once-labelled "the sexiest chef?" Well, he's no top chef, and certainly not sexy any more! He WAS originally my pick to win TC, but in the past few episodes he's gone waaaaay down. He's a a good chef, but not a top chef. He's also a wuss. (Initially, I thought he could be another "Harold" but instead he's been a progressive let down.)

Elia: A good chef, but too much drama in the kitchen. Repeatedly, she has fallen apart in the kitchen; not good under pressure, terrible leadership skills.

Marcel: I think will be a great top chef in a few years--he has the most vision and shows more consistent creativity than the other 3--And for now, against the others, he's the most apt to win this TC competition because the others lack soooo much.

Now, I'm cheering for the underdog, Marcel! Go baby, go!

This season's TC competitors have nothing on last season's last 5 finalists. Gawd, I miss Lee Anne, Stephen, Tiffany, Dave, and Harold!

AS to Marcel's flavors:

"Marcel’s Wild King Salmon, although presented in what I thought was an unoriginal fashion (not what we expected from our resident Foam King), was prepared just right. The display of heart shaped potatoes may have been trite, but the flavor combination was a crowd pleaser."

Actor,
On a serious note, Be very careful with yourself. I know 2 people with a similar sounding virus that ended up in the hospital - one was a guy that was the pinnicle of health! It is a nasty virus!

Yes, do take care of yourself. I had a very similar virus in April and got so sick! I was puking my guts out (literally!) and was in so much pain I couldn't sit up, lay down, move, hold still, nothing. I had never experienced pain like that in my entire life.

When I got too sick to say no anymore, my boyfriend finally drug me to the ER where they told me I had ruptured my spleen! Now, normally you have to be in a vehicle accident or have serious trauma for this to happen, but I'm special! I vomited SO HARD that I ruptured my freakin spleen! It was the most intense, awful pain I've ever experienced. I'd rather have 10 babies at once using pitchforks as forceps than go through that again. OMG... it was terrible.

So... needless to say, since my hematocrit was dropping like crazy... meaning I was losing blood quite quickly, I wound up in emergency surgery at midnight. They say if I'd have waited another 6-12hrs I would have been dead.

When my doctor came in the next day to tell me how the surgery went and what an enigma I was... they just couldn't get over my "injury" coming from vomiting... he told me he found a surprise while he was in there digging out my body parts... I have a second spleen! This, as I understand, occurs in approximately 1 out of every 10,000 live births. So I guess I really am special... lol...

It was quite an experience. I even had social services questioning me as to whether my boyfriend beat me up... lmao... they were trying to come up with a "reason" I guess.

The only thing we deduced was that there was a new virus going around in nursing homes and hospitals, and I must have been exposed at work. Very strange. Very painful and awful. Very much NEVER want to have to go through something like that ever again!

Anyway... drink plenty of fluids and get lots of rest... and if you're vomiting and develop a horrible, sharp pain in your abdomen that doesn't respond to any type of pain relief... get to a hospital! The 3 days worth of morphine was nice, but definitely not worth it!!!

DOUBLE-FEH!

Thank GOD i remove the commercials when i watch stuff. No way Bravo deserves a cent for putting this biased, pseudo-yuppy butt-kissing on the air. : '(

AT LEAST THE NEXT SHOW THEY ELIMINATE *2* (and i'll bet just about anything it's Sam Vs "The Precious li'l antichrist himself"). : '(

OOOOH! THAT'S WHY HIS HAIR IS SO LOPSIDED!!! It's hiding his horns! ; )

Betty, good to hear from you again! Nobody's hatin' on Marcel as good as you.

Who is Amy?

I can't really answer that question unless the cooks returned the camera broken and producers watched the tape.

I look forward to the answer. Breath not bated though.

Ok I just heard it, it is not Tom who says it, it is Ilan. He says, "We asked to borrow a camera to take with us back to the loft." It was in tonight's episode.

I remember that as well. but still doesn''t answer the question of whether Bravo had video cameras playing as well.

"Most likely Marcel cooked the wings at a temperature high enough to make them safe..." Most Likely? Hmmm sounds like damage control to me. Especially since it was described as Raw.

Who said they were raw?

Was it Raw or Rare? I cant recall but I'm thinking it was one or the other. Either way its an open invitation for Uncle Sal to visit the Colon.

Cliff is guilty of assault!!!!! Sam and Ilan should be charged too!!!!

I don't think anyone was charged, but in the real world, they would have been indicted as accesories!! Cheering an assault on like that is like Jodie Foster's movie, The Accused!! You don't have to actual touch someone to be held responsible for this act!! They are all very lucky not to be handcuffed and escorted out!! lol!! Is Elia psycho? She started this mess shaving her own head!! What a moron!! It helped to get rid of that greasy hair anyway; so Senade O'Conner (sp)!!

BRAVO! WELL SAID! And yes, i think it's called Incitment To Riot ("Mob Mentality"? Something like that). The Jodie Foster movie was a PERFECT example to use!

So how much is MC Foamy paying you to be his PR Agency.
LOL

Pro bono.

LOL given MC Foamy's personallity its more likely pro boner.

Can or will this episode live up to the hype?

Yes, Marcel had a slam dunk with that dish in terms of flavor, but slam dunks for Marcel's dishes are not consistent and that is simply the point that I'm trying to make. I'm not a Marcel hater by any means, just a TC fan.

Since you weren't there, I'll take your word for it. Keep stretching!

And you were there? Just checking. ; )

No. But Tom was. And i have no reason to doubt his word.

But then, since you think all the judges, producers, editors, cameramen, soundmen, mixers, grocery store owners, clean-up crew and gaffers are compromsing themselves and lying to protect little Marcel, I can see where you are coming from. I'd just rather not go there. But, hey, enjoy!
