I remember in college, rushing fraternities and sororities, the hazing and other stuff that happened,... vaseline in the hair? Nair in the shampoo? Putting underwear in the freezer on top of fish so your undies totally smell fishy? Shaving the eyebrows? Hand in cold water to make you pee in bed? All stupid pranks, all not at all very nice. But filing assault charges for any of that? Suing all parties involved? Wow.
From some of the posts I have read, some may think frying in the electric chair may not be enough of a fitting punishment for Cliff and Bravo.
Exactly. These "Marcel should file assault charges" posts are pretty over the top. Same with the lawsuits. Yes lets jam up the legal system with more petty lawsuits.
Thinking like this pretty much the the same misguided logic that argues that tag and dodgeball should be banned from schools and that childrens sports shouldn't have winners or losers.
If it was up to these people in 20 years we will all have to walk around incased in sanitized bubble wrap watching episodes of the hit game show Tie Tie or Draw, where everybody wins!!!
Still joke it was asault plain and simple....even as something as spitting in Marcels face could land you in jail as asault. The thing that bothered me was Cliff pulling Marcel out of bed while Marcel was sleeping throwing him on the floor and then putting him in a full nelson while Marcel just hung there. If that is your idea of a JOKE well we will agree to dissagree.
I'm not saying it wasn't assault nor was it right. I said it started out like a joke and it was obviously a dumb idea because there was little thought to the outcome in regards to Marcel.
That being said, Cliff was removed from the show and Marcel wasn't seriously hurt and seemed to accept Cliff's apology so I don't see the need for the police, lawyers, restraining orders, body guards, No fly zones or U.N. Peace keepers.
See we do agree and I think Marcel took the high road he just locked himself in the bathroom and re-did his hair! I'm sure he could of made a much bigger deal of it but he did not.
Absolutely he could have and it would have been well within his rights. I already pointed out that he handled the situation pretty well all things considered. I just think given what happened how it happened, and how it was handled by all invovled and the outcome, all the pleading for court dates/litigation is ludacris.

What a depressing way for one of the more talented chefs to go. But I was glad to learn that he would have likely been eliminated anyway. At least he has the comfort that "he may have won" had he not pulled this stunt.

I posted very early on I couldn't believe Sam asked Marcel to help him "plate" his dish after his rant a couple challenges before!! They show nothing but contempt for Marcel, then ask him to help them out!! That is so disturbed!! Reminds me of being tripped down a flight of stairs then being asked to lend money!! Makes little sense; I'm not that "Big!"

On a serious note, Be very careful with yourself. I know 2 people with a similar sounding virus that ended up in the hospital - one was a guy that was the pinnicle of health! It is a nasty virus!
Yes, do take care of yourself. I had a very similar virus in April and got so sick! I was puking my guts out (literally!) and was in so much pain I couldn't sit up, lay down, move, hold still, nothing. I had never experienced pain like that in my entire life.
When I got too sick to say no anymore, my boyfriend finally drug me to the ER where they told me I had ruptured my spleen! Now, normally you have to be in a vehicle accident or have serious trauma for this to happen, but I'm special! I vomited SO HARD that I ruptured my freakin spleen! It was the most intense, awful pain I've ever experienced. I'd rather have 10 babies at once using pitchforks as forceps than go through that again. OMG... it was terrible.
So... needless to say, since my hematocrit was dropping like crazy... meaning I was losing blood quite quickly, I wound up in emergency surgery at midnight. They say if I'd have waited another 6-12hrs I would have been dead.
When my doctor came in the next day to tell me how the surgery went and what an enigma I was... they just couldn't get over my "injury" coming from vomiting... he told me he found a surprise while he was in there digging out my body parts... I have a second spleen! This, as I understand, occurs in approximately 1 out of every 10,000 live births. So I guess I really am special... lol...
It was quite an experience. I even had social services questioning me as to whether my boyfriend beat me up... lmao... they were trying to come up with a "reason" I guess.
The only thing we deduced was that there was a new virus going around in nursing homes and hospitals, and I must have been exposed at work. Very strange. Very painful and awful. Very much NEVER want to have to go through something like that ever again!
Anyway... drink plenty of fluids and get lots of rest... and if you're vomiting and develop a horrible, sharp pain in your abdomen that doesn't respond to any type of pain relief... get to a hospital! The 3 days worth of morphine was nice, but definitely not worth it!!!

I know I made it perfectly clear that Cliff's actions were not right. His intentions were not to hurt him. I just don't see why a federal case should be made of it.

Cliff would have gone home either way, his was the worst meal and the judges mentioned that on tape. Cliff was set to leave no matter what.
Elia - did no one see this coming!! Remember when she 'lost it' and smeared chocolate over her face and caused that little episode a while back. Elia can't handle stress or inperfection. She likes to have control and when she can't control things she loses it and does crazy things (things she can control) - she also left the kitchen - I totally lost it for her. She lost my respect as a chef. You don't just quit when things don't go your way. Talk about childish!
Then go and do something stupid like shave your hair because you feel out of control and need to control something so you smear chocolate on your face or shave your hair. Dude, get real!
although i hate to say it but Sam has won the most challenges overall. He may very well win this thing. Aside from the junk he has said he does bring a bit more maturity (might be decieving though) than Marcel in kitchens, but I think Marcel could be potentially a great chef with more to offer than Sam in the long term. Ilain and Elia, nothing there.

You don't see what the big deal is? Let me break it down a bit for you.
Marcel is very aware that he's not part of the boy's club that has emerged. He's been openly dissed not only in front of the judges, but guests and has to continue to live in a hostile environment. Put yourself in his shoes (as hard as that may be to do) and imagine being brutally awakened by a hulking figure about twice your size and all you've been bombarded with is the fact that those around you want you gone. Exactly how would you react? The guys left are a bunch of F***S!

I have watched this series from episode one and I just don't see why Marcel deserves this. Marcel has had to perform under very stressful circumtances. Ilan used all 10 burners before Marcels dish went out if it was Marcel did this instead everyone would be complaining how awful it was he did this. But Marcel didn't do this. The worst he did this episode was not help Sam plate. Cmon, he was truthful, he didn't have the time. But he did help everyone when he was done with his own dish. Sam is an instigator and I agree that he and Ilan should be accessories to assault. In the real world Cliff would be in jail and Ilan and Sam would be facing charges also.

I just watched the re-broadcast of this ep and it pissed me off all over again. It's a little surprising that more people aren't outraged by all their behavior. There's just nothing worse than watching bullies gang up on someone. It was like watching someone being raped.Sam, watching Marcel being assaulted, says someting like, Yeah this is fun! I really wanted to throw up. I just freaking hate these people!!! I hope they fail miserably and that all their future ventures die. I would NEVER go to their restaurants. I said this before, they attack Marcel because he is the smallest of the males and they think, therefore the weakest. But Marcel is very strong, he must be to withstand their harrassment. To see a guy who's got to be 200lbs. overpower someone who's asleep and barely 120lbs...OMfreakingG...Marcel was literally 3 feet off the ground.

I have watched this series from episode one and I just don't see why Marcel deserves this. Marcel has had to perform under very stressful circumtances. Ilan used all 10 burners before Marcels dish went out if it was Marcel did this instead everyone would be complaining how awful it was he did this. But Marcel didn't do this. The worst he did this episode was not help Sam plate. Cmon, he was truthful, he didn't have the time. But he did help everyone when he was done with his own dish. Sam is an instigator and I agree that he and Ilan should be accessories to assault. In the real world Cliff would be in jail and Ilan and Sam would be facing charges also.

would have gone to Hawaii for the finale even had the
incident not happened.

Marcel would have been gone as well. IMO, the incident was his ticket to Hawaii. All the judges said they weren't thrilled with his dish, so if there was no incident with Cliff, Marcel would have been packing his knives and going home. It would have been almost wrong to send Marcel home after all that- and almost disappointing because I "love to Hate" Marcel. I wanna see Sam, Elia, and Ilan prevail in Hawaii.

1. We allowed the chefs to have a camera because one of them had asked for one because it was their last night and they wanted to mess around and have some fun. I think we all expected them to film themselves doing impressions of Tom and Padma and some of the producers (that's what usually happens and it makes for fun extra content for the Bravo website).
2. The chefs know that there is someone on the production team sleeping in a room nearby and that they can go to them at any time if they have a problem. Marcel could have done this but did not. We do not have producers sleeping actually in their rooms -- it has never been necessary to police grown adults and industry professionals like that.
3. The next morning, I got a call from a field producer who had arrived at the loft to find Elia and Ilan without any hair. I was furious with them as I felt it was kind of a juvenile prank to pull which undermined the dignity of the show (little did I know there was much worse to come).
4. Marcel did not come to the production team at any point the next morning to make a complaint about what had happened so it took a little while for us to find out. He was in an interview and towards the end he mentioned it rather casually to the producer who was interviewing him. The producer then asked him for the full details and notified me.
5. Once we saw the tape, we had absolutely no choice but to ask Cliff to leave. I was very sorry to have to do so, as it was clear it was supposed to be a prank but it clearly went too far.
6. From the moment Tom told him he had to go, Cliff handled himself like a total gentleman.
7. I think Marcel was genuinely sorry that Cliff had to leave like that. (I think I would have been a lot less forgiving -- it must have been pretty unpleasant to be woken up to that).
8. It was a little embarrassing in front of Chef Eric Ripert. We were so proud to have him on the show and he had been impressed by the meal in Santa Barbara. It was all going so well, dignified and all about great food. Then all of a sudden we were at judges table with one chef missing and two chefs missing their hair. It was like we had been hit by a crazy-bomb.
9. It was a strange irony that the judges felt that they most likely would have eliminated Cliff anyway. They could still have decided to eliminate another chef but chose not to. I think it was the right call, as it would have felt unfair to eliminate a chef for being the second worst in the challenge -- especially with the stakes being so high.
I've been producing television for about 12 years now and nothing quite like this has happened to me before -- it was a strange and uncomfortable situation for everybody. Of course it does make for a very compelling episode and for a producer 'compelling' stories are the holy grail. But this is one story I would prefer not to be telling.

Heck, even Michael had more "professionalism" than Marcel (but Michael was too much of a "Good Ol' Boy", and there comes a time when you HAVE to take things seriously, especially in a contest like this one).
Just Marcel's comment about "not caring if Sam does the course He was given the right to chose for" because he (Marcel) was "just going to do whatever he wanted anyway, and let the cards fall where they will". THAT showed obvious lack of respect for the show, it's production staff, and the contest as a whole. If he can [expletive deleted] about Betty using Sugar instead of Nutrasweet (an all out problem when you're cooking a menu for children that might be ADHD or Diabetics), what makes his crap not stinky? (Yes, but i didn't want to get censored by using the ACTUAL words, but we all know what the phrase was, i hope). ; )
It was Sam and Mia that brought up Betty's use of sugar not Marcel. Please get your facts straight.

Watch the show again, Flob1. If i remember correctly in the spot conversations with the contestants during the show, he opens his mouth the same way he did in the Firehouse when he tried to push Betty's buttons (and YES, Marcel-Drones, i KNOW she was pushing his back as well). Also the same way he crucified her dessert during the Thanksgiving show (yes, i realize it was just pumpkin pie filling to many of us, but what is pumpkin pie filling but PUMPKIN FILLING? Sheez).

Okay fine... once again, I did not disagree that Cliff did was wrong. What I am was questioning, if you look back at my original post, was the comparison of manhandling to one poster said gang rape and assault.
I see that your point, I did not need it broken down for me I watched the show from the beginning. As much as I do not like Marcel, Cliff went too far. Grnated it was bad, but by the next day, things were fine- Marcel and Cliff were fine- even Ilan and marcel were fine- everyone and Marcel was fine. Yet there are a lot of people saying that Cliff needs to go to jail. Bravo should be sued, Cliff should be sued, etc.
If anyone had needed medical attention? Then i can see it.
Since its such a huge deal, tell me what would be a fitting punishment for Cliff? 5 yrs maximum security? lethal injection? Stoning? how about a good draw and quartered?

just watched the rerun wanted to see the show twice before i came up with a response. its sad but i don't think anyone deserves to win, padma was 100% correct that no one was showing the qualities that they look for in a Top Chef. theres so much unprofessionalism and childish antics it makes me sick to my stomach. how do some of these people work in an enviroment when others are dependent on them to make desisions? and if you've ever worked in the restaurant business its a make or break mentality every single day, sorry elia but you'd be the first to break.
cliff deserved to get kicked off for his actions but at the very least he SEEMED sincere when he apologized, and it didn't SEEM like there was any hard feeling between him and Marcel. and wtf sam? the situation felt oddly uncomfortable for both parties? UMMM NO!!! maybe it felt uncomfortable the next day when you got called out on it, or by uncomfortable you mean "funny" cause i saw you giggling like a school girl while marcel pleaded for your help. ASS.
Ilan i'd imagine you had a equally as stupid comment about the incident, what was it again? oh right we were drunk. interrupt your peers when they're talking to you more please. ugh.
elia whats the problem? you need to get your head on straight(hopefully its a little lighter after losing all that hair) girl a MUCH MUCH better chef(imo) gave up her right to be in the competition so you could continue. but you give up the second something doesn't go the way you expected it? they enjoyed your dish hun..
this season is a train wreck but who can look away honestly? does this show even have producers on location or any kind of intermediator trying to keep the peace? chef tom said two words about the entire clif-marcel situation and doesn't feel like he needs to mediate. yeah tom shouldn't have to baby sit, but we've been at this breaking point for awhile now and even a few words of "knock off the funny stuff and focus on your cooking" could go a long way.
thankfully i can fully expect the reunion show to be full of even more drama and cheap shots at marcel that they didn't have time to broadcast the first time around. oh wait, this is a cooking contest? *sigh*
and JUSTMEAOD is there a reason why you type in all caps with spaces inbetween every sentence? all caps is yelling and sometimes your posts break the borders and makes all the following posts spill out into the advertisments on the side. sometimes you even have an entire page dedicated to your posts because you quote so many single posts in a row. i really wish there was an ignore feature..
