Pure Hype. Not one hair on the troll doll was cut. Elia didn't whack off her hair because of Marcel. She's the one that had the bright idea to play with hair clippers and got the whole nasty mess going.
really, people. anyone that's been in Fraternities or the military has seen much worse hazing. We had a guy in the barracks that didn't like to bathe. You could smell him from 10 feet away. One night he got a special bath with brillo pads and a high pressure hose. Afterwards, he found a new respect for daily bathing.
Cliff is a big guy. He could have easily hurt Marcel, but was careful not to. He never punched him. Never squeezed too hard. Nothing was injured except Marcels over inflated ego.

Sizzler, Fred Goldman did not go "around the law". It is part of that law that if you lose in criminal court you can absolutely sue in civil court (where that butcher Simpson was found responsible for the two murders.)
Why did Padma call Elia an idiot? For the attack on Marcel or for shaving her head? I think Elia looks great with a shaved head (I did that once myself -- sure made showering faster!)
As for Marcel, he should have been booted out when he tried to make Betty lose when she was cooking (when she had nothing to do with the fryer cooling down.)
Marcel's response to Cheater Betty's own hateful comments previously to him can in no way reach the level of what he has endured from the TC bully-gang.
Tom C in his blog said that he wanted to send everyone home but Marcel and have Marcel win by default, but the producers overruled him. That's too bad because none of the bully-gang deserve to go to Hawaii. Indeed, I am surprised that any of them have found a job.
Good for Tom for wanting to throw their asses off and make Marcel the winner by default. That would have been so sweet!

So laughable and so pathetic.
I saw that too. Why couldn't he just say, "I'd like to take the second course?" What a poopy-head.
LOL..Yeah that and the whole cigar..I swear Sam is one shrewd hottie...He played that kid like a fiddle..I don't even think Sam likes Ilan ..He had a plan to win and that included an alliance like Survivor...I think it's becoming more apparent as time goes on..He got pretty mad at his boys in the restaurant challenge..over some bacon????....And Ilan is like So sorry Sam!!!.....Ilan was his willing flunkie.
This is all so Shakespearerean
It was like Ilan was being submissive to Sam's authority. I think, unfortunately, that the final two will be Sam and Marcel. I look forward to Ilan leaving...what a schmuck! Elia, I do believe has some serious mental issues. Plus, the christian thing,as the saying goes, "if you are going to talk the talk, you better walk the walk" Her behavior during this episode shows that the most important thing to her was her new buddies, not what was right. Marcel could use some new supporters, that is for sure, because she only supported him to his face, not behind his back.

Quote from Elia:
"It was definitely a training on patience, tolerance and love for others. Trying to respect everyone in the competition, no matter what. We all have different beliefs, different ways to sleep, to wake up, different characters. So you have to be mature and loving enough to tolerate everyone with everything they are and compete with dignity. I believe deeply in God and study the Bible, so this experience was a great opportunity to apply some of the wonderful things God has taught me."
And they wonder why Marx called religion the opiate of the people???

If I speak in the tongues of men and angels,
but have not love,
I have become sounding brass or a tinkling symbol.
It's about what you DO, not what you say or how you look.
I'd suggest you ask Ilan and Sam to define a mensch, but I'm afraid they never learned.
I pray that God is more forgiving and understanding of you than you have been of Marcel.

I'm just wondering how everyone would feel if it had been any of the others holding Marcel down and Cliff being the one egging them on. To me, it seemed that all four of them were guilty of the same infantile behavior. Cliff just happened to be the one elected to hold him down. If he hadn't touched him, apparently there would have been no punishment.

Hi Foo Foo, RSH,daverocks and katie, nice seeing yall again.
What gets me about this episode is why is Elia being held responsible for Marcels well being? She is not his nanny and from what I remember, she wasnt even in the room. I have no clue if she knew what was going on.
Some wanted charges pressed but what if Marcel chose not to press charges? Isnt it his call?
Also, the producers proved how unimportant the health, mental and physical well being and reputation of the chefs is to them.
There is a heatwave, people did die. Production did not make sure the rooms the chefs stayed in had working A/C and by all accounts, only the common room A/C worked. A/C had to be turned off while they cooked so as not to interfere with the microphones.
Mikey needed an emergency dental procedure. They found some back alley dentist who did a terrible job and Mikey himself wanted to call 911.
Long shoots with no food or bathroom breaks.
Tobacco and booze were well stocked for the chefs.
Hm, A/C isnt important or a decent health professional but Marlboros and Bud Light are?
Nice job Bravo.
brillke
Well I must concur on the horrific working/living conditions, and all the rest. Makes Bravo look like ass doesn't it? Maybe someone sueing their asses would wake them up to what they are doing? Not sure. This season overall(including the apparent Bravo s.h.i.t.stirring-behind-the-scenes-stuff) sure has sunk to a tawdry level that was just not apparent last season. *misses Dave, LeAnn, Harold..and yes even Tiffani..*

Liddy - I see where you are coming from. I only watched the episode onces so my opinions are based on my initial reactions. I recall clearly seeing Cliff and Sam in the video and hearing Ilan. I do not recall hearing Elia or seeing her in the shots. Therefore, I did not include her in my comments. However, if Elia did see what was going on and did not take any action, than she too is just as guilty in the deplorable actions against Marcel as Sam or Ilan would be in my book.
According to Tom C, she was not in the room, but she knew what they were doing and could hear what was going on....and did nothing.
What did you expect her to do? We all know Elia is tougher than Marcel but she's no match for Cliff.
Has nothing to do with physical strength, but everything to do with moral strength. A firm, "STOP IT" was all that was needed.
Tom C was absolutely spot on when he wrote:
The whole thing brought to mind that famous quote, "All that is necessary for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing."
I'll include women in that remark.
Sam was drunk, that was the excuse, Sam keeps telling everyone every challenge that he is a Diabetic. Well if he's a diabetic he's not supposed to be drinking.
YEEHAW Nan. GREAT catch. Hubby is a diabetic and didn't even catch that one myself...so Sam, what is your excuse going to be now?

What's so Shakespearean to me is that at the 7 Sins dinner, it was Betty who began the culinary cabal when she crowed "Let' s make it us 6!"...to Ilan's cackling delight. And one by one, the six are disappearing like the the ten little indians....Betty first of course...Ma Barker herself...then MIchael...not cut throat enough...then Cliff...too cut throat....who's next? Ilan and Elia...the Bonnie and Clyde of Bravo? Leaving Sam I Am Not and Wolfgang Amadeus Marcel to battle it out?
And Marcel pulling a brilliant soigne feast? Or a Sam victory followed by begging for votes so he can have the 20K as well cause he's om vacation and is "low on cash"?
Ah, the farce and of humanity....
And yet, think how much we are discussing issues of ethics and morality, in many ways it is a non-threatening way to examine our involvement on Iraq, torture, civil rights, ...by proxy.
There is good in all creation!

Are you saying that in your average restaurant kitchen, which is male-dominated, that they would conspire to physically attack with the intentions to deface someone in the kitchen they didn't like because of the things he said?
You're really saying that? Really?
No, someone would just pick a fight with him and then beat the hell out of him in the parking lot after work. I worked in bars and restaraunts for twenty years and I saw it happen several times.
Maybe I live in and work in rough places but Ive seen many an ass-whoopin between co-workers.

I agree the photo seems to indicate things didn't happan exactly how it was shown last night. It makes me wonder who first pulled out the shears.
I still feel that Cliff was being very, very careful not to hurt Marcel. He could have snapped him like a twig. But this was rough housing and horseplay. My brothers and I used to wrestle around all the time. Sometimes the furniture took a beating but we always knew where to draw the line. There's no way either of us would hurt the other. Heck even Abe Lincoln was a champion wrestler. It's something guys do.

Jumping in to say I am now actively rooting for Marcel (even though I believe Sam will probably win it).
Why? Not because everyone picks on him. Not because Cliff throttled him in his sleep. Because he made me lmao in last night's episode. When Padma said to the chefs, "Didn't anyone tell Cliff to stop last night?" Marcel said with a wry smile, "I did." That was funny! For him to have a good attitude and a decent sense of humor after what was done to him shows a good deal of character. Plus he was very gracious in accepting Cliff's apology. Plus he didn't run crying to the producers when he was attacked (and yes, I consider it an attack). Bravo Marcel!
When the show started I was rooting for Cliff. I can't believe he messed up this chance of a lifetime by this stupid prank. True, he probably would have been asked to leave this episode anyway, but at least he would have gone out remembered as a worthy contestant rather than a bully. Yick.
OHG-ROTFLMAO I forgot about that, when Padma asked if anyone asked him to stop...(gawd, now I can't stop giggling...) It was PRICELESS and I can't believe I forgot about it. He deserves an award for that!!
It was another priceless Marcel moment.
Doesn't say much that Sam, Ilan and Elia never apologized and in fact Sam and Ilan are still publicly dissing Marcel in public. But as common wisdom holds, you reveal more about you when you attack another than the person you are attacking. Marcel's professional silence is deafening.
Oh so true! I was actually very proud of Marcel. I don't know that I would have been able to a) accept the apology from Cliff with the grace he did, and
not slam the rest of them at the judges table, which he actually did in a way. When Padma apologized, he said "no apology needed from you"...another one of those moments doncha think?
Why did Padma feel the need to say sorry? Did she do something wrong?
In addition to knowing nothing about food, she also knows nothing about ettiquite.
I don't know what she was apologizing for. Maybe because they ALL let it get out of hand and didn't stop this crap weeks ago when it all started??? If it had been nipped in the bud, maybe their ratings would have been less, (maybe not) but the integrity of the show would be intact. JMO

Simply put: I'm out until Project Runway 4 !
Sorry but I fell in love w/ Bravo programming when Project Runway first aired and have enjoyed many of their shows as guilty pleasures, especially Top Chef 1, but after last night Bravo has officially hit my seedy level, ala Jerry Springer, Jackass and most reality shows offered on Fox.
An overwhelming number of the contestants on TC2 are immature, arrogant, petty, nasty and vile. And as if being the most arrogant Uncle Tom wasn't enough Cliff treats us to watch his violent streak, gee thanks Cliff...thanks bunches.
I realize the drama that the cast of TC2 has displayed is an attraction for most so I know my stance means nothing to the powers that be; however, between this show and the other drivel Bravo has offered of late, I HAVE to leave. I'd rather turn my TV off than to continue to watch immature behavior, manufactured drama, constant sniping, bitching and violence. The only thing I can say at this point is:
Thank you Bravo for exposing me to this season's chefs and letting me know where they work. I entertain regularly on business across the country and it is always good to know where not to go.
I agree with you on a lot of your points, but why do we have to drag race into this? Sheesh.

Just a quick note or two..first, the judges said, "Cliff would probably been sent home, his dish sucked", then in the next sentence, "Well, now that Cliff is gone, who should we send home?" WTF! It sounded like 4 peeps were going to Hawaii, and when Cliff was told to pack it up and vamoose, that left 4 peeps!. Why would there be ANY discussion of who was going home? If Cliff had not attacted Marcel, and would have made it to the judges table, he would (so they say) been asked to pack his knives and go. That said, then they had ALWAYS planned for 4 peeps in Hawaii. Make sense???
Second, on the booze bill....to quote Brad Paisley...helps white people dance...(song title, Alcohol)
Come on Siz your a Savant now did you not get the memo? We already knew there would be fou...oops sorry Chef Tom hope I did not break my contract as a Savant...ugh NO Siz they had a challenge but loved all the dishes so they all get to go! How's that Chef Tom now can I become a Bravo Afficianado like Justme I want Box Seats Dang it!
OH MY GOD!!! I have failed in my mission to be the bestest and most awarest savant...are you going to take my merit badge away Actor? LOL I promise to NEVER do it again!!
Ofcourse not SIZ...lol we are all trying to get to Justme's box in the sky..wait that did not come out right...but were all movin on up to the east side!

I hate to sound like one of those old crones who say stuff like "in my day the music was so much better...", but, the last season of Top Chef was sooooooooooooo much better than this years crop of contestants. Im sorry, but Harold had it going on, all over these chumps! Tiffany may have been an assertive [expletive deleted], but she never tried to beat anyone down to win.
When exactly did TopChef turn into the Jerry Springer Show?
I agree, Harold was definitely a rock star last season! Hell, I think the only "negative" thing that Harold ever did was tease about Dave's "magical lasagna" to Steven, which made Dave burst into tears. However, the incident spawned another fabulous quote from Dave..."I am so over Harold and Steven, the two of them can go makeout somewhere!" Classic!
Toward the end, Harold grew to respect Dave and earned Dave's respect in return. That is an endearing quality of a true Top Chef, understanding that earning respect starts by giving respect. I wish that quality would rub off on some of the Season 2 cheftestants.

What also puzzles me is why they filmed it themselves? The only reasonable explanation is that they have no moral compass and no conscience. If they had done it secretly, I would at least be relieved to know that they had a conscience...that they knew it was wrong and required stealth, but to film it tells me that they felt entitled to assault Marcel, as if it was their god-given right.
That's perhaps the scariest thing of all. The entitlement to evil.
No wonder they remain unapologetic.
That was excellent! Would be a great question if they were having a reunion show. At least this all explains why they aren't.

Good luck on tonight's shoot, Actor. This is totally OT but did you hear on the news where Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie bought a 3.5 million dollar house in the Quarter and they are planning to live here and send their children to school here? What are they thinking? Heck, my family has been here for generations; I love this city. But even the private schools don't offer much in the way of edu-ma-cation.
Yup they are moving to Gov. Nichols two doors down from Wicked Orleans where my girlfriend Jen works...they are only here for 6 months while filming on Benjamin Buttons...guess it will be their vacation home after that must be nice...lol

What also intrigues me is that so many of the brat pack supporters and Marcel bashers dont seem to post very much during the dinner hour...that is, when restauransts are busy....could it be that some chefs, waiters, waitresses associated with certain other chefs are behind all those "pop-up gopher" posts and even some of the more established posters???
Just wondering.

Just jumping in to say,
Has anyone seen the trailer for next week? You should all take a peak at it. Not that I believe to much in the trailers but if it is correct...Marcel turns the heat down on the stove and gets Ilan mad, comments something about burning pan to Sam (if I remember correctly) and then moves Elia's steamer pan off the burner to put his pan on the stove. Elia's comment is ...paraphrased, classic Marcel behavior. Has he done this kind of thing before in other episodes and we did not see it or missed it? Could this be the reason most of the chefs are not happy with Marcel?
Suggest everyone take a look at it.

That might be possible. But I think Marcel is acting this way now because he's had enough of their b.s. if that is what he is doing. Hard to tell with those previews.
I don't think he was doing this before because none of the chefs said this. It would be simple to complain "Marcel is always moving everyones pans out of the way for his."

Marcel could hiccup and they'd say he was fuking with their concentration and being totally selfish and unprofessional.
When the tribe hates you, you can do no right.
I trust zero coming out of the mouths of Sam, Elai and Ilan. Zero.
They have openly conspired against him for some time now...and still, he keeps his cool. Amazing really.

The previews don't hold much water. They are always way more dramatic than the show.
Im am going to continue to watch the final competition just because I have invested to much time not to. I will say the behavior of all the contestants this past epsiode was a let down. Now I know why I prefer the company of my puppies.

Could be the way you intrepreted it, but I do remember that Marcel when asked by Ilan to take his eggs out of a pan (during a scene at breakfast prior to cooking in the Kenmore Kitchens) Marcel responded that he wanted to keep his eggs warm while he was cooking something else, which meant that Illan had to wait until Marcel was finished. It would not have hurt had Marcel removed his eggs and kept them warm in a microwave or something, just a thought. With all the craziness that has been going on, who knows what is going to happen next.
Boy there are some egos at work on this Top Chef. Will it ever end? Probably not. I really will be glad when this Top Chef has finished. Way too much drama for me. I think Actor is right when he says something about not caring who wins.

Let those who can see, see.
AMEN!!
