Heh Heh...Thom mentioned at the very end, after covering the teak outdoor furniture that he was "going to drop the kids off at the pool." Y'all know what that means, right?
Time for a dump!! Heh Heh!!

Hi I'm new here ...
and I've got a question !!
Is that all the new episodes of Queer Eye is over ???
Because is going to do manhurt on Oct,12th !!
I'll be so sad if it's true =(
FiliciaFanatic
I love seeing the guys go outside their comfort areas, giving their advice on things they're not experts in -- like Kyan helping with the cooking, or Carson shopping for sheets with Thom. So I really enjoyed seeing the four others take Carson's job and take the guy shopping. That said, seeing Carson return halfway through made me really happy.
ThomsTeddyBear
Ok, how many wives were glued to the tv set when Thom said he wanted a dip in the pool?!

*stands on top of nearest furniture and raises hand*

And how many thought he may do something in the hip tip segment to tie in with that "dip" in the pool?!

*places chair on top of furniture, stands on chair in an incredible balacing act and raises hand*

My eyes hurt from sitting there staring in hopes with them wide open - oooo, he's such a wonderful tease...darn it!!

That was a HUGE house! Lots of room but definitely needed help. "I'm so glad they realize that I am a genius," Thom said in a past episode - and it's so true!! After what he did, they would have to drag me out of that house to get me out; I'd never leave!

It WAS a great house but way too close to mom. There's plenty of space in town, exploring it would have been my agenda! In fact it was, I moved on the opposite side of town from my mom when I moved out at 21.

The clothes the boys picked out in Carson's absence were pretty darn good! Especially the clothes Thom picked out! Notice Carson used the shorts Thom picked out for John's final outfit! I love my hubby but it did look better with the blue shirt for the cookout...JUST for the cookout.

Now comes the interesting part - how long will it be before his fiancee says, "I'm not your mother".

Luvsthom and I were talking about that too and came to the conclusion that a possible big factor in the so-called ratings drop could be from inconsistency in programming. A few new episodes then reruns will turn people off in a heartbeat. Not me, I'm staying! But others get tired of so many reruns. Now they want to put this Manhunt thing on in our boys slot...I'm like WHAT THE HAYELL?!! Tuesdays at 10 are ALWAYS QE nights! What the Hades are we supposed to do now?!
Stogie
Actually, in the hip tip at the end, Thom said "now I've got to drop the kids in the pool!" What this means, as I have heard it, is that he has to poop! I was surprised to hear the phrase used on TV, but it did crack me up!!

During the show he looked out the window of the original house John was moving from, saw the pool, and said, "I want to take a dip". Memory moment because that's when I screamed and picked up the phone.

Welcome to the boards

WHAT? They're putting that crap in their time slot? What are they thinking??? Tuesday + 10 p.m. = Queer Eye! They can't take away our boys' time slot -- that's just wrong! It's like disturbing the laws of nature, or something, not to mention totally screwing up my weekly routine (which is, sadly, largely centered around "must be in front of the TV at 10 on Tuesdays"). I don't get why they wouldn't put that crap in at 9, like they have with every other new show, to get the ratings boost of the Queer Eye sandwich.

I just read at the QE site that there won't be any new episodes until JANUARY! That's 3 and a half months away! How will I survive until then?! Now I wish that Bravo had spaced out the new episodes instead of showing them all in a row. But I know the Fab 5 deserve time off and if it means no new shows for awhile, so be it. Anyway, I was a bit bored with John W's show but I enjoyed seeing the other guys try to do Carson's job. I thought they did a great job but I really missed Carson's clothing commentary. I wonder what really caused him to be absent? The clothes that Thom picked for John looked like something Thom himself would wear. I was so HAPPY when Carson showed up halfway through the show! I didn't realize how much entertainment he brought to the show until he wasn't there. Thom's makeover of John's house is now my favorite of all the episodes! It looked gorgeous! Thom probably let his creativity go wild since the house was completely empty before. I laughed at how Carson couldn't resist making a little change in the outfit Thom picked for John. It was funny how John's family all lived in the same neighborhood.

Yeah, I laughed when Thom said that too because I knew what it meant from hearing Jessica Simpson saying it on her Newlyweds show. I'd never heard that phrase before Jessica said it.

Kyan seems to have really put on the snark this time around, eh peeps? I've taught him well. It's nice to see his 5 o'clock shadow again. Sexy, like we just woke up together. *le sigh* He was all, "Holy tube socks, Batman!" and he really enjoyed doing the Irish (Scottish?) accent. After they moved the SG's stuff, Ky was fanning himself when talking to him. Um, hello, Kyan: If you're hot, simply remove your fricken' shirt! Please? It bugged when the fiancee stayed behind with MY man while the others went out to shop. (Uh, hi missy, perhaps after I tackle Miss Piggy, I can challenge you to a mud-wrestling match. Hey Piggy, don't look now, but Carson's flirting with your Kermie. ) What's up with Kyan doing the Kayaning - er, I mean kyaking-oh, sorry, kayaking? Isn't that culture? Well anyway, he looked so hot in those shorts, but that red wetsuit shirt was awfully tight. Yeah, I know they're supposed to be tight, but still, not a good look. Sorry. I loved when Kyan snarked to Carson, "She works her natural color." Kyan also told the SG about the benefits of taking vitamin supplements. I've been taking some for the past several months, and I've noticed I'm not as fatigued as usual, so that's nice. However, they make my pee greenish. (Yeah, I know: "Thanks for sharing, my_guy_ky.") Seriously though, if I could pee neatly into an empty Gatorade bottle after digesting a vitamin pill and then chill it, I could probably fool some people. Not that I've tried it. Yet. Now don't get me started on just how hot Ky looked during the reveal. That hair. That choker. That printed shirt. Then in the Hip Tip, there was more about vitamins. I really felt it when he went, "Mmmmmm."

I liked that aqua color of Jai's shirt. He looked so cute with the SG's turtles. Awww. They're adorable, but you have to compulsively handwash after handling and bathing them, because they carry salmonella. Their cages have to be washed frequently, too. I used to have one, so I've been there. Too much work. I wish Jai would've kept on that orange skirt in the store and taken off the pants underneath. Hee! I'm not too keen on this whole celebrity guest cross-promotion thing they're doing with Ms. Ormond. She reminds me of Marcy on Married With Children. It was amazing $$$ advice, but isn't this stuff a bit too pragmatic and mundane to be considered "culture"? Opinions, Jai fans?

I love when Thom said to Kyan, "You're actually more of a packer."

In Ted's Hip Tip, he said, "Duhlishus!" Yay!

Carson really called it when he said that the SG's glasses made him look like Velma. Good thing he got new ones, but I was kinda hoping that Carson would hook him up with contacts, ala Andrew. That scene was what got me hooked on QE in the first place.

Dang! They sure did a lot for this guy. Multitasking, as Carson said. Indeed! How quaint that the relatives lived on the same block. The SG's sister is cool for giving the FF beers and then for giving his fiancee a whip. Rjaye, I guess kilts really are the trend now, since even one of these SG's wore one while moving and shopping.

I read somewhere (don't recall exactly where) that the spacing ends up like that because of how they film the show. They do a bunch at a time, then they have to take the time to edit them all. However, I do agree with you. I think those l-o-n-g intervals they tend to have between new episode groupings is one of the reasons they've lost parts of the audience. The viewing public has a very short attention span, and with the possible exception of The Sopranos, not many shows can take those long periods off and maintain the same ratings.

I wonder what really caused him to be absent?

A few months ago, Carson was in Toronto making a movie. Some press stories said that he needed to take time off from the show, while other stories said he didn't miss any. *shrugs*. Anyway, that's what most comments I've seen have concluded.

It WAS a great house but way too close to mom. There's plenty of space in town, exploring it would have been my agenda! In fact it was, I moved on the opposite side of town from my mom when I moved out at 21.

I guess with a guy like that, just moving down the block was a major accomplishment. Baby-steps, I suppose. I moved out at 22 and I think it was about 10 miles away.
Quote:

I'll bet she already has!

I liked this episode. A change from the norm is generally a good thing! Loved Kyan's hissy fit when he met up with Carson. "I'm going to kill you!" ... "You were shopping, you weren't working!" (or something like that) HEE!!
KCee
Nuts, I messed up the coding, and the board wouldn't let me edit. The last two quotes from my previous post were from ThomsTeddyBear. Here's the last part, redone.

I won't speak for the Angels here, but I do think that the money lesson was the most valuable lesson this couple could have received! Jai did good! Still, it wouldn't surprise me if they're back living with the folks within 5 years.

OK here's a question for the class ... I have 3 posts in a row here (with this one it'll be 4) and my post count HAS NOT CHANGED. Anybody know why?

Wasn't that fun?! I loved that the other four dressed the SG. Of course we always knew they have many talents. But I would enjoy more of that. Carson not just helping with cooking but taking a SG and planning the meal. Ted doing the culture thang. We've seen Kyan do a lot of the culture types of thing along with grooming so what if Kyan went decorating? And Jai could do grooming and fitness--Lord knows he's a natural! And what could Thom do? Now we know he's great with color and design, what could HE do for a meal?
John W. was one of the happiest and most comfortable with himself that I have seen lately. Loved his family, YES, wish I had had such a close and big family to grow up with. I don't know, at first I would have agreed with those who say he is staying too close. But a brother and sister have also stayed in the neighborhood an they seemed content.
I agree that Coleen(?) will need to be strong about not becoming John's mom, but she seemed to fit right in with the family. So often you can see stormclouds brewing between future m-i-laws and daughter-i-laws at a party like that one. This party seemed to be very naturally supportive of the couple.
I guess from Ted's point of view the meal was a disaster but the family ate it up (literally) and enjoyed it. None of that sneer we've seen in previous episodes when pate was presented. Or what was the meal the guy who also tried to give a massage to his ex-girl? She was really appreciative. NOT!
What a gorgeous house! Thom had so much space to work with, for a change! Loved, loved the deck!
Kayaking on the Hudson river (was that where they were?)? Looks fun, but I'd hate to go upside down in that water. You never know what you might find. Anyone remember the Seinfeld episode where Kramer swam laps in the Hudson?
Carson really seemed to enjoy seeing how the others did his job. I read some of the posts about the Emmy's (a show I missed) and the comments about how each of the guys supported the others. This is what makes them watchable and likeable! No apparent envy of competition.
More later. I will miss UK tonight, I'm afraid, and my VCR doesn't do preset records, only real time. boo hoo.
Cheers,

I read on another board (I won't say where) that some people were sensing resentment towards Carson by the other 4 guys. I didn't get that vibe AT ALL! Sure, there were some snarky comments about Carson having arrived after all the work was done, but I saw that as being in good natured fun. What do you all think?

I loved that house too, but I have to agree - WAY too close to the parents, especially if you're getting married. I think there's a very important buffer zone with inlaws and parents. We're an hour from my inlaws, which is a good distance. Close enough to go any time, far enough that they don't just show up on the doorstep. Although at one time they DID go through a "showing up on the doorstep" phase when we'd moved to another house. That was annoying.

The fiancee seemed like a pretty strong woman, so I hope she'll put her foot down fast.

I didn't get that at all either. The snarky comments were kidding. Carson even made a snarky comment about himself, something like how the best way to succeed is to show up after the work's done and claim all the credit for yourself. Honestly.

I think you're right about the "drop the kids in the pool" remark although it didn't sink into my brain when Thom said it. I didn't catch that either. I thought he said he was going to drop the kids off at the pool not in the pool.

And tomasulo, that was very self-deprecating. Good job.

I liked the turtles. My sister used to have turtles like that and we kept them in a small children's swimming pool outside and one day they escaped and we never was them again. I was so glad to see Carson show up. But I thought the other guys did a pretty good job doing Carson's job.

I missed Carson too and thought he was going to miss the whole show. But he showed up in the middle and we shouted, "Carson!" The boys did do a good job in dressing John and yes, it was in clothes they themselves would wear (I LOVED Ted's choice) but Carson's touches are always extra special

Ok, there's something wrong with the way that was phrased.

DITTO!! It was a nice big house but with room to work with, Thom outdid himself!...except for the backyard love plateau in the John B. episode - that was just TOO on! I was thinking that after seeing what Thom did with this house, every straight guy they do is probably going to empty their house/apartment of everything before the boys come over from now on.

Resentment?! Nah, no way! The boys know each other's schedules and what each other has to do. Kyan was just teasing, he wasn't serious. No way the boys would be like that - that would be like being jealous of a friend and friends never need to be jealous of each other - except in play, lol

ARRRGGGGGGGGGGGG !!!!! Are you serious ? I saw the ads , but didn't pay any attention to the time slot. No QE shows until next year ???? What are they thinking ???? They will lose many regular viewers while taking that much of a hiatus. Viewers not as dedicated as those of us here on the boards will be changing their viewing habits and will not return next year. And, may I add, this sounds like no Xmas episode or reunion show either. OH......say it isn't so. !!!

On a related note:::::: Why the HE*L does Bravo need a Manhunt show anyway to find the sexiest man alive ?? Hey Bravo......HI.. you already found the top 5 on the list a year and a half ago. Their names are Thom, Kyan, Jai, Carson, and Ted ( not necessarily in that order ). Actually, I'd put all of them in the #1 spot. So Bravo.... please reconsider the programing schudule. If not..thank God I've got all the eps on tape and you will find me watching them over & over again until 2005. Theres an idea for New Years Eve.....a QE marathon party, with drinking games and samples of everything the guys had to drink in each show. Might take until March to know what month it is, but that'll teach Bravo to take away my fab guys !!!!! Yeah right !!! Okay then.....mrsd....crying in the corner.

mrsd: You're right again, honey! Manhunt? Gimmee a break....I stopped looking a year ago! T-H-O-M!!!!! I could be mistaken (Pumpkin, look how self-deprecating I am!), but from the Bravo promos requesting a family with more than 3 kids to contact them for a holiday special, I assumed (I know it's dangerous to assume but I'm a risk taker) that the special would involve the Fab 5. Am I totally in the dark? And, if I am, Thom, could you join me immediately!!!
mrsdee
Sorry, but I'm too upset about us losing our Fab5 for some Manhunt show that I can't even talk about the John episode right now. Will have to get back at a later time....mrsd

A big shout out to Thom for saying ".......we forgot to get him a donkey" when John had Coreen lug in the tub of ice. Coreen, you need to learn how to work those dimples! Lots of guys would be falling over themselves to carry that ice tub for you! Wise up, John. Your mom didn't do you any favors by letting you think that a woman is there to take care of you.
Susan
umm... guys? It's not like they aren't going to be on at ALL. They are just moved to Wednesday. Unless you are watching something else then. Just do your Wednesday routine on Tuesday so, you can watch the Fab Five on Wednesday. *Susan ducks for cover*
