Not a single one of these clowns knows anything about the history or art of hairdressing. Everyone's hero is either there mother or Vidal...LAME. What about idolizing Anny Humphries, Gene Shacove, Alexandre or Antoine the father of hairdressing. Never heard of any of these, figures. The cast picked for this show know as much about Hairdressing as the casting crew knows about picking the right Stylist for the job. O well, I'll just go to work tomorrow knowing that come April I can watch a bunch of hacks dry cut the crap out of some ones hair. Can't wait. Yours truly,

Wow! It looks like Top Design has killed the "Top..." franchise, so they needed to give this show an entirely distinctive name hoping we would give it a fair chance and not associate it with the "Top..." trainwrecks.

I love Ben too! I was one of his first clients when he started at Armando Vazquez in the mid 90's. God! I can't believe it's been that long. I thought he disappeared. I didn't know he stayed local. I use to go in and tell him do whatever you want and I was NEVER disappointed.

I wonder why Jacklyn Smith was named to host the show, I would figure a hair expert or hair stylist to the stars or something would be better than an actress who's as far as I know, is not a hair expert.

I personally think that in this interpretation of hairdressing the idoltry of another whether its someone who has created a process or a design is meaningless. The true inspirations are the ones who we work with. I have learned more from people I have worked with than anyone that I have seen at a hairshow or conference. My idols are tiffany, susan, nancy, diane, rich, shirley, valerie, and all the clients i have learned from. None of us our to good to learn and humble ourselves. Look at who went home tonight. He deserved to go home.

Ok now this isnt lets see who can " read" the best. Insulting each other is unprofessional and frankly embarrasing. Lets all grow up and talk abotu the show and not ourselves or our abrasions to others.

I'm thinking it was because she is like Heidi Klum. A model with great hair and a very astute businesswoman.

I'm with you brother/sister. I know plenty black female hairstylists that could cut / dye / fry[which they haven't done yet] / saute' / weave / curl / braid / suture all in one day and charge $30,000 not just $650.00. [ someone on the show mentioned that like it was a big number ]
As for the comment that no qualified black women showed up to audition, well ... I don't know, all the black girls i know do hair from 5 years old on up. For her to not be qualified she'd have to be ... hmmm not black from my experience. I'm surrounded by black women at work and oh my friggin god it's a friggin fashion show every single day. And they do their own hair. Well you have to as a black person realy. Even in college all us guys cut each others hair. It's funny there was never a gay stigma put on it either [ something else i heard mention in one episode ] And before someone thinks all the black women i work with all have weave let me shut you up before you start, they cut their own hair, dye their own hair, straighten their own hair, hell if they were 4 inches taller and 30lbs skinnier they could all be walking the runway in new york's fashion week, or milan. It's just that friggin amazing.
Guess I'd have to watch BET to see black people do much of anything.
P.S. You know what's funny is, the first episode when she said hair show I was expecting a whole bunch of black models to come out. I've never heard of a white hair show. I mean what would there be to show, everyone dyed and cut? That'd be a short show.

Why do the blacks always find a racial issue everywhere. If there was a worthy contestant auditioning, then they would be on the show.
I am sick of it.

Spoken by someone who obviously has "NO CLUE!" If you're a woman, you might be marginalized, but I doubt discriminated against, so try to talk from experience rather than ignorance!!

I don't think it's necessarily a "racial" issue so much as it might be a "stereotype" issue. I've been to salons where they mention "African-American hair" or "Asian hair," and I always wondered what they meant by those labels. Apparently hair behaves certain ways depending on one's ethnicity. And since Bravo is a television network whose job is to maximize ratings and appeal to the broadest possible audience, they're going to look for contestants who they "feel" will appeal to the audience at large. Do I agree with that assessment? No. But I can see where the network is coming from, at least from a demographic standpoint.

what you should be sick of is that most of them were either gay or bisexual. where's the diversity there? one of those spots could have easily gone to a straight black female. they sure had plenty foreigners too. i'm sure their were plenty of worthy contestants but this show is for entertainment purposes only.

Gay or Bisexual?? Where did that come from?? The only ambiguous "bi" character I thought was Dr. B!! His blatant flirting with Rene was more than a little embarassing!! What a lack of control knowing he's being recorded!! I wonder what his so-called wife and son thought about that when they saw it televised!! To me, this was worse than a Clinton moment in the '90's!! It's one thing to be told your spouse is a louse; it's another to see it along with a couple million other viewers, family, and friends!! lol!!

Wait, you're taking a ruler to the knuckles of Bravo's viewers for not being "sick" enough that one of their shows featured what you deem to be too many gay or bisexual characters? Bravo is a network working toward furthering the equity and equality of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered individuals, and yet you have the brass cojones to take them to task for that? That's a little like bashing BET for showcasing too many black entertainers. And not only that, you want to dig your bigot-shaped little hole even deeper by purporting that "foreigners" are also on your list of those unworthy of being considered for a television show? Wow.

just callin' it like it see it. i didn't know that the mission of the bravo tv network was to further the gay and lesbian movement, lol. that's rosie's calling. i'm simply stating that the majority of the cast was "other". it feeds into the stereotypes that most stylists especially men are all gay. why do you think the board fav ben kept stating he was straight? he was the ONLY straight male in front of the camera. here's another one for ya, tuff to enjoy bravos workout cause they don't work out! it's a lesbian soap opera. call me archie if ya want edith... as for the foreigners, it hurts my ears to hear peeps chew up the english language. it was not shear genius uk...and bet, is that all ya got. most blacks over 16 don't even watch that garbage. plus yes they showcase primarily the same stereotypes of african americans. viacom should rename it bev-black entertainment videos.

That's a little harsh.....that's like telling everyone they should never travel.
Geez, their "English" is more grammatically correct on this show than probably the majority of Americans.
There is a big difference in speech patterns from Georgia to Oregon, but we're all Americans....
So in my book, I think you kinda are going a little too far.

Excuse me!
I teach English and it is us - the Americans - that is chewing up our own English rules!!
I can't tell you how many kids - and I don't teach elementary school - tell me "that's just the way I talk and you can't change it!!".
I try my best not to get into the middle of arguements, but I have to let you know who is doing what to the English language!!
