...not those jeans too many folks wear these days that show half butt crack, with a belly that sneaks over the top of em. It's not that the folks are over-weight by any means, it's where the jeans cut into the waist...very unflattering...especially when the shirts are cut high enough to expose too much belly.

Yeah, old-fashioned, but in the right pair of blue jeans, every woman is a goddess.

I couldn't agree more....and here in the St. Louis area we call that a "muffin top". I don't know why someone would want their @ss to look short and WIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On Purpose, even.

Yep, something about a woman who's not afraid to be less-than pristeen. I actually liked the tossed and disheveled look, you know, an old pair of Levi's and a T-shirt...not those jeans too many folks wear these days that show half butt crack, with a belly that sneaks over the top of em. It's not that the folks are over-weight by any means, it's where the jeans cut into the waist...very unflattering...especially when the shirts are cut high enough to expose too much belly.

YES, the old faded blue jeans that are so soft to the touch. I know exactly what you are describing.

HAVE TO AGREE ON THE RESEARCH PART OF STUDY

ESP IF IT IS WITHIN YOUR FIELD

WAS KINDA NERDY MOST OF MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL YRS

ENJOYIED SCIENCE AND PHYSICS ENGINEERING ETC

THE PROCESS OF THE CALCULATIONS THINGS LIKE THAT

BUT FOUND IT BORING DURING MY JUNIOR YEARS

ENTERING COLLEGE I CONTINUED WITH SOME OF IT

BUT REALLY DIDN'T "TICKLE" MY FANCY YOU KNOW

I THINK IT WAS THE FINALITY OF IT

ONCE THE ANSWER IS THERE

IT'S DONE, MOVE ON

THE THOUGHT PROCESS FOR ME ANYWAY

ENDS WITH THAT FINALITY

IN TURN I FOUND IT MORE INTERESTING TO PERHAPS COME UP

WITH THE DIFFERENT ANGLE

AT LEAST FOR DISCUSSION SAKE

PROVIDING MORE MENTAL STIMULATION wink.gif

I GUESS THAT'S WHERE THE SAYING

DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS CAME TO PLAY EH laugh.gif

STILL THOUGH IN YOUR EQUATION

THE GRANDULAR WEIGHT OF A MOL IS VERY MINISCULE

AND IS FIRST AND FORMOST THE IMPORTANT FACTOR IN IT

AS THE SOLUTION YOU ARE SEEKING IS ENERGY PER GRAM

KINDA SHOWS WHAT KIND OF NUT I AM

AS I WAS THE ONLY ONE TO ATTACK IT THOUGH LOL

I GUESS THAT'S WHY I AM THE VILLAGE IDIOT HERE

AND WEAR THE COOL POINTY HAT biggrin.gif

BET NO ONE WILL WANT THAT HONOR ANY TIME SOON LOL

ON THAT GYM Q

I THINK I READ SOMEONES ANSWER

AND I HAVE TO AGREE

FOR THE MOST PART IT IS A PSYCH YOU KNOW

SHE IS A CELEB NOW (KINDA SORTA)

AND IF ANYTHING LIKE THAT PERSON HAD MENTIONED

JUST TO SAY THEY DID SO

REALITY OF IT TO ME

I WOULD HAVE TO SAY IF THAT WAS SAID TO ME

ASK ME IF I CARE LOL wink.gif

Your process of thought, is VERY intriguing, thus throwing you back up front with the brainiacs...sorry to "out" you as an intellectual, Just. ...but the angles you pose will give birth to new questions. It's a never-ending cycle and a most beautiful one at that. Ingenuity comes from the most unexpected sources and usually (believe it or not) from lessons learned from past failures.

To be bored with a question simply means there's more to it that hasn't been dealved into. It's my nature to see things as the whole, then the part, then the part that makes up the part...kinda like human to system to organ to tissues to ions to nanoparticles...hence why I profess gleefully that I don't know it all...only scratching the surface, but MAN, what an infinite surface to scratch....what it is that makes us.

It's great that "A's" came easy to you...tends to lead one to believe that there is something deeper inside of you...a question waiting to pop out that hasn't been asked yet...by anyone.

But heck, that's the educator in me speaking. I honestly get excited at new angles...different ways to see things. For you to call yourself a "pointy-hat-wearer" is a farce...I can see that in your argument...well done! Don't stop :-) There's lots of arguments out there waiting to be put forth...why not by you?

As far as the gym question....I'm a product of the 60's and love to question authority...especially when i can do it freely, like in these boards. If the social norm is "It ain't about how good it is, It's about how much it costs", someone's gotta speak up eventually...why not me?

BOY RED MARKER LOL

REMINDS ME OF THE OLD DAYS wink.gif

THAT GENNIE RIG YOU SPEAK OF IS A PRETTY EASY BUILD

SEVERAL DESIGNS OUT THERE TO COPY

READ AN ARTICAL ABOUT IT SEVERAL YEARS AGO

WHERE AN ENTIRE FAMILY SET THIER HOME UP WITH IT

THE KIDS HAD TO PEDAL TO WATCH THE TELI

LISTEN TO THE RADIO ETC

OF COURSE RESIDUAL ENERGY WAS STORED IN BATTERIES

THE FAMILY PHONE WAS A PAY PHONE LOL

I KIND OF LIKE THE IDEA OF GOING GREEN

THE ONLY PROBLEM THAT HASN'T BEEN ADDRESSED IS

DISPOSAL OF BATTERY CELLS

VERY VERY HAZARDOUS STUFF blink.gif

ACID LEAD COMPOUNDS NOT TO MENTION THE NON BIO DEGRADING CASES

SEEMS THOUGH RUNNING SUPPLIES OF FOSSIL FUELS ARE GETTING SCARCE

THE GREEN THEORY IS NOT PERFECT

REASON I HAVEN'T JOINED THE MOVEMENT I GUESS

A WORTHY PREDICAMENT FOR ANY BRAINIAC I THINK LOL wink.gif

FOR NOW USING WHAT WE HAVE WISELY MIGHT BE A BETTER WAY TO GO RIGHT NOW

OK ENOUGH OF THE SOAPBOX STUFF LOL

DO YOU REMEMBER THE OLD 20 MIN WORKOUT VIDS THEY USED TO HAVE biggrin.gif

I MUST SAY THE IMAGERY OF THOSE SCANTILY CLAD BEAUTIES

SQUATING STRETCHING BENDING

WAS THE BEST THING TO COME TO REGULAR TV VIEWING LOL

AND AS FAR AS ME HAT BEING KNOCKED OFF

I CAN STILL FEEL THE O'L POINTY ON THE TOP OF THE O'L NOGGIN laugh.gif

So JM, what did YOU think about the first episode?

HI KANI

I LIKED IT biggrin.gif

THE COMPLEX INGREDIENTS PROVIDED EXCELLENT CHALLENGES

I THOUGHT, DEFINING THE KNOWLEGE HOLDERS

AND THE ONES WITH COMMON "BOOK" TRAINING

FOR ME IT PROVIDED A CLUE OF WHO TO WATCH

AS I SAID IN THE TC BOARDS

THERE ARE AT LEAST THREE WOMEN AND TWO GUYS

BUT DEPENDING ON HOW THE CHALLENGES PROGRESS

WELL I'LL JUST HAVE TO SEE HOW THEY HOLD UP

DON'T HAVE A TRUE FAVORITE YET

BUT I THINK IN THIS SEASON

IT WON'T BE DIFFICULT AFTER THE THIRD OR FOURTH EP

Have had sea urcin, not a big fan of clams but have seen magugai. Big fan of both sushi and dim sum, so I've had chicken feet and was surprised at how meaty they are. The buloot and bagong are new to me. Had to google OPIHI, didn't know it was a limpet. Since it's a speciality what's the most common way it's served?

I got some serious catchin up to do with you guys in the 'different kinda foods' area.

I ate a worm once, but my sister dared me to do it. Swallowed a few million bugs while riding my bicycle too fast down hills too!

I'm hoping that when I get to retire, I'll have saved enough $ to be able to take an exotic vacation where I can sample local delicacies! I saw a gooey-duck thing once, but never had a chance to taste it. Does it taste like chicken or clams?

Never had geoduck but I would imagine more in the clam-like taste family. Just how exotic do you want to get? Hard core Bourdain or Bourdain-lite? Just watched a guy on the Food Network eat a beating frog heart at a place in Japan. I think I would have to think long and hard about that one and yet I've picked tiny crabs out of a glass fish bowl to have my chef drop them in a deep fry and season them with a little sea salt after which I popped them in my mouth. Very tasty.

Being a soft-hearted soul...I'd have a tough time watching my dinner die right in front of my eyes, then procede to eat said alive thing or recently dead thing...I think my feeling of guilt would get too much in my way, but I certainly don't hold it against those who can do it. Heck my most favorite beloved children, my dogs, eat live bugs all the time and I still kiss them on the lips (after I wipe bug parts off of formentioned lips)

I'm a softie too, especially when it comes to the animal kingdom, so for me, I just can't ever see myself selecting something (be it crustacean, mammal or otherwise) that would, in short order, become my dinner. My cats catch lizards constantly, and I can't count how many times I've pried those kitty jaws open and tried to save the poor little critters from certain death (not to mention that they're toxic in large doses), so as much as I love A.B. for his guts and charisma, I just can't see myself on the next adventure junket at Bourdain's side.

I tried the whole "crawfish-take-off-the-head-and-suck-out-the-tasty-brains" bit once when I lived in New Orleans, and once was more than enough for me!

I absolutely fell in love with this show and the poeple it surrounds this season. Which is funny, because I watched some of the first season. I now regret not watching all of it. So much happened on this season that mirrors my own life, it's scary. I loved watching Jackie and Rebecca together - they are so cute. I hope we get to see a third season and what happens next. I think Rebecca is good for Jackie; she is the unexpected. As for the loss of Doug - oh my goodness. I can't believe what happened. It's just unbelieveable. My heart goes out to all that love and miss him.

So I'm guessing that means no crab, lobster or oysters at your house.

[/quote]

I admit that I do love the shellfish, but nope, couldn't be in the house while it's being prepared...tried to stay once while a date made me a wonderful dinner of lobster flown in from Maine...I had to grab a handful of dogs and run outta the house...made me cry...I'm a big sissy about that kinda stuff.

I have a small herd of cats along with a pack-o-dogs. All my kids are indoors (dogs only get out for pee and hikes and stuff with me...coyotes are living in my neighborhood...they like cats...for meals), so have to wait for the odd bug or lizard to sneak past the threshold of the front door...hate it when they howl for me to wake up and see what they just got for me...usually half of the bug or lizard, but I do try to save em when I can and get them back outside where they are safe. I think my furry kids would love to go on a Bordain outing if they could find a responsible sitter for their feeble Mom.

Here's something further silly to my predicament...I actually feel guilty while eating chocolate easter bunnies.

Have had sea urcin, not a big fan of clams but have seen magugai. Big fan of both sushi and dim sum, so I've had chicken feet and was surprised at how meaty they are. The buloot and bagong are new to me. Had to google OPIHI, didn't know it was a limpet. Since it's a speciality what's the most common way it's served?

I can definitely relate to the hunting stuff...had to do it in my time, but we really didn't do it as much for sport as it was for food. My brother is a huge enthusiast of it to this day and wonders why I won't join in...doesn't understand that I just don't see the need for it anymore since we can afford to go to the store now. I can understand the need to maintain population numbers to keep the animals from starving to death...just can't bring myself to hold a weapon against one anymore.

Have to agree with you on the sport hunting motives. I just can't relate. My part of the world is part of the migratory flyway and there are many opportunities for bird watching and sadly hunting. The endangered whooping crane is one such bird that can be seen. Yet a couple of years ago some whooping cranes were killed because the hunters thought they were shooting an unprotected species of crane. What I couldn't understand was why anyone was shooting any kind of crane. I mean, cranes mostly stand still, hunting frogs and fish in the shallow edges of water. Where's the sport? Are they tasty? I just didn't get it.

I agree, it ain't a sport unless you find a way to arm the animals. When i hunted, it was for food. I came from very humble beginnings and we did hunt for food. We ate what we killed and respected and honored the sacrifice the animal gave to sustain us.
Back east, deer has to be hunted to maintain population numbers, but if the hunter only wants a trophy, he or she must donate the meat to feed the hungry. Out here, there aren't as many restrictions and just about any a-hole can get a gun and a license to use it. kinda scares me about folks feeling they need semi-automatic weapons to hunt...another debate.
Would I kill again, yes, if I had to feed my family and that was my only option. Would I kill a starving or injured animal? Yes, respectfully and quickly to end its suffering. would I feel horrible about it? Yes.

See I get that. I like fishing, not good at it but enjoy it just the same. Grew up as a kid crabbing in the Chesapeake Bay because we liked to eat them. Dad hunted but not because he had to but because he wanted. I just can't unless it's with a camera. However I will say I have chased deer which is pretty damn funny if you saw it. Me and the hounds in the big dog park chasing some massive buck thru the woods. Dogs never chasing too far because they always sense the heart attack I'm about to have and come back to check to make sure their meal ticket hasn't kicked the bucket. Gotta love that about them.

Oh hell yes, I loves me some rice. Jasmine rice, japonica, basmati, black rice. Lord, don't EVEN get me started on ristotto or paella. Thai sticky rice.
I'm trying to imagine what the dish would look like that combined that black chicken they used in the protien episode and black rice. I'm pretty sure Gail would have not been happy about the lack of color other than black.
If anyone wants to check out just how many different rices there are check this link out:http://www.foodsubs.com/Rice.html
