Unfortunately there are too many people in this world, who think of ALL gays, as being "just like Jackie when she is at her worst"...
With people on this board sharing their opinions, their lives, their struggles, their personalities, their laughter, etc...this board has become a powerful means of proving how all gays are not like her.
I personally am thrilled to see others post here about their lives, whether it be the struggles and prejudice they face for being gay, for hardships due to physical handicaps or illnesses, for saying hi to their partner, for telling of taking care of their mother or for light hearted things such as talking about their goat-cat/cat-goat or handing out cookies ..
Those are just a few examples of what makes this board such a great board and helps others see "whether gay or straight", we all have alot in common...
Maybe one persons story on here can touch the "common ground" of a bigot and change that bigots attitude towards gays. Or just being able to witness the love between two gay people as Dr B and Alex have shared with us could do wonders to show gay bashers, that love is love regardless..... Whether straight or gay, we all want the same things from love...such as companionship, happiness, joy, freedom to express it and acceptance of loving who we want to...
Being straight I welcome any help educating other straights into accepting gays. It is not an easy task to change a bigot, but this board has the potential to help tremendously.
To me, it would be an insult to be stereo-typed as...."just like her"....
Ms. Warner putting herself in the public eye in such a negative light, and not holding herself accountable for the bad publicity, is the very reason countless people. whether straight or gay, will not stop talking about it...So instead of bashing those who are still talking about it, I am in total agreement to continue to call out , the one who failed to talk about it....Jackie herself.
Having ran my own business for 20 years, I will never keep my voice quiet to her indifference to "gossiping about her clients", regardless if they had cancer or not, it is totally unacceptable.. Yeah, we have all stuck our foot in our mouths before, but a persons true character is shown when they make a choice to either remove their foot from their mouth using accountability or if they cram the foot down even further , by ignorance and indifference.
Since I am cancer victim myself, I want to remind Ms. Warner the very subject of cancer she disrespected (and could have used to her benefit instead), might just be the very thing that becomes her downfall... For cancer, is not a bigot. ...Only people are.
