Hey, this is the opportunity to vote against really bad taste in television by boycotting "Work Out" and all of it's garbage!

So now this entire thing is okay. Why? Because Deenie is an actress

and has behaviors that are not attrative. So this makes what happened

to Deenie okay? I don't think so. Neither is the Peeler/Jackie thing

okay. Why have you really decided to change your attitude about this

situation?

Kari Ana

QUOTE(JCpalmsprings @ May 13, 2008 - 11:39 AM) I have signed everything as well and even posted links... If you had seen some of the other shows she (deenie) has been on you would see some of her behaviors... Remember there is alot of editing... I also believe that when this show was finished Bravo had no idea these 2 episodes would cause so much harm and offened so many people....

I agree with this person it is all for the show and rating. They all are getting paid very well to act like well to be nice...jerks... and they all new what they were getting into. As to the comment later about Jackie's DVD hello it is scripted and it all is happening months ahead of time! Do you not think that there are worse shows on TV? Are you getting upset about other shows that are on even in prime time that our children are watching? Maybe you are great but if not I don't think (this is my opinion) that all this bashing is necessary.

according to andy cohn's blog jackie was in NYC last night for the big bash the bravo and ? universal station, put on at rockefella plaza , so that advertisers can meet , and greet.....is Good Morning America on the bravo mother station???

I think NBC is the 'Mother-Ship' of all this stuff. Hitting em in their sponsors is the equivalent of a huge punch to the gut (aka wallet). Kudos to those few sponsors who have chosen to pull adds from the show until they can watch for themselves and form their own opinion about whether the actions portrayed on this show best represent their respective products.

I made a comment to Soy Bars about their use of the word 'Positive' in their add, but how the show completely contradictcs their ideals. I'm sure many others did the same.

I'm getting free soy bars out of the effort, of which I plan on having a 'positive' party with a few close friends while we kick back, watch some TV, nosh on Soy Bars, sip on some Propel Fitness water, and enjoy some home-style entertainment. We won't be watching Bravo TV, probably something we can all enjoy and giggle at (Colbert Report, John Stewart...). I have a few buddies who have decided to spend Tuesday evenings at my house for bubbaque, Soy Bars, and Propel and TV (Non-Bravo) until this thing comes to an end.

I strongly urge anyone out there of a like mind to celebrate the accomplishments of this fine group of folks (the ones writing on these boards) with high standards of decency.

Your (actually, everyone's) efforts have made a difference. We may never get an appology from Bravo TV or from JW-Waddell, but ripples were made in some veeeery big ponds for large industries to take action to at least pull their adds until they can make a decision for themselves.

Well Done All! I have to say I'm proud!

If anyone has contact with Peeler, remind him, he has a GREAT opportunity opening up in front of him...don't abuse it...stay true to your Carolina roots!!! I passed a Peterbuilt Truck on the highway on the way home tonight and had to smile. The inference I got from it is that you (Peeler) have to be bigger than all of this if you want to benefit from it (Bigger than the gym you were fired from, Bigger than the woman who fired you, Bigger than the network that set you up) Go for it, Bubby - take your shot!!!! You've been set up to WIN! Do the right thing with it!!!

PETITION CALLING FOR WORKOUT CANCELLATION

I've started an online petition for those willing to back up their opinions/comments here with a strong message to Bravo and the makers of Propel Fitness Water. The formal letter will be sent to Bravo on Monday (tomorrow).

Copies will go to the National Exercise and Sports Trainers Assocation and the International Sports Science Association (organizations which certify Ms. Warner) as well as Gatorade (makers of Propel Fitness Water), HRC, The American Cancer Society, The City of Beverly Hills, CA and NBC.

I will post a copy of the letter here.

Spread the word!

You are so right, on all counts.
We have done what we could to stand up against what we thought was wrong, and were heard. And maybe, just maybe made some people in high up places listen to the "little people" a little bit more. We saw a line being crossed and stood up to say "no!" and maybe helped some people see the line a little more clearly. And maybe we even redefined for ourselves what entertainment is and what it isn't (sometimes that line can get blurry too).

And Brian, you were right on this one, and we backed you because of it. We saw your heart and your motiviation and that won our support. If you continue to act out of that good heart we know you have, you will be fine. But take a lesson from Jackie, a good thing can turn bad real fast if you let your ego get the better of you (and we will call you on it just like we did her).

I like the show! I take it as a show and I have started working out. I think you are making a big deal over nothing! If you don't like the show and a lot of people do then change the channel and move on. I know you are entilted to your opinion but so am I am and I don't want anything to happen because you guys have an issue with Jackie.

It is killing me that you keep thinking I am Jackie or one of them! I am just a little ole' school teacher and don't know any of them. Can't I have my opinion or is something wrong with me for liking the show. Be careful in your response back please. I went back and edited mine! I know about bullies and I am always there to defend my students and try to teach them right and wrong. Would I want my students to watch this show? No! It is for adults and it is just fun and I have learned a few things! I am so sorry that it upsets some of you but why do you have the right to speak for the rest of us? I am sick of a few voices and politically correct people taking away others rights in this country. As far as I am concern the choice is easy...you have, what... 200 other channels?

I know bash away because I am wrong and you all are right!

You are entitled to like the show and to express that opinion. We are entitled to take exception to the show and to express that opinion. If you like the show, continue to watch and support it. We have the same right to our opinion as you have to yours. Ya know, it occurs to me that it would be a strategic move to put a "plant" into this mix to see if we could start fighting amongst ourselves...thus creating a negative atmosphere to disperse us - or get us off-track.

Shadowrider has as much right to its opinion as we do. Don't play into it and get upset over nothing...stay the course.

--Now this brings me to Gregg. Let's be real; Gregg should not be training Deenie or any out of shape, over-weight or obese person. He's an athlete's trainer. Gregg has been an athlete his entire life and went to college on a full athletic scholarship. Unless he's had some serious training regarding psychological issues relating to food, self-esteem, etc, he's not going to get it. The producers know this, Jackie knows this and that's exactly why they keep giving Gregg the most over-weight clients! He hates it, they get upset and yippee skippee do, Bravo gets their conflict.

--As far as Gregg keeping Deenie at arm's length... that doesn't have anything to do with Deenie's size. That's just a generalization regarding anyone in a profession where you must work close to or even touch a client. It should never get too personal or it just gets ookie. I don't think I need to go in depth.... Deenie wanted to emotionally lean on Gregg. She definitely wanted more of his attention (not in a romantic way) and it has nothing to do with her size. There are plenty of skinny, pretty girls who behave the same way. But trainers can't get that involved with their clients. Forget the boundary thing, it's also just a time management thing. I realize that we've seen very little of Deenie but I get the feeling she's someone who can just wear you out.

I beg to differ on Gregg's ability to train the obese - look at what he did with Tess, AFTER knee surgery. That is a real injury, and he had her losing a lot of weight, running on the treadmill, etc, by the end of the season. I think Gregg has a lot to offer people of all sizes.

Perhaps Deenies excuses got in her way, perhaps she wanted a 'friend' more than she wanted a trainer, or perhaps there was a little transference (sp?) going on there, but Gregg has the chops.

As far as being on time, yes, he should be on time, but Los Angeles is a tough town for that.

I actually respect him for keeping business, business... personal, personal, etc. Jackie could learn a thing or two from him! lol!

BTW, I have to completely disagree with you. The rest of the world shows up at least 15 min. early for important appointments. We don't let clients wait or feel like they are taking a back seat to anything. They are the ones paying for service...hence why service is foremost in our business...Clients pay our bills...we must respect that when we have an appointment with one, there are no excuses (short of personal death) that comes before their needs. Gregg has no excuses. He has treated his client poorly...that simple.

Okay, I can agree with that. When I thought of Tess, I thought about her getting upset, crying and I remembered Gregg talking about how they were still just trying to get her to a place where her body would finally start burning fat in work outs... something like that. But that was when he was confronted by Jackie about Tess not losing enough weight so I guess my perception of that relationship was a bit askew. wacko.gif He and Tess seemed to work quite well together. I guess maybe I was just trying to give Deenie one more excuse... heh:)

I like Gregg a lot and wish they would give him more time....

His blog about the Deenie topic is hilarious.

Well, I think Gregg's blog pretty much explains the situation. And I agree with him that if your trainer is late, do some cardio. Her ankle would not have prevented her from riding a stationary bike or doing something... anything until he got there!

As for the whole drama... Bravo played us for fools. That whole thing was set up. Deenie was told to go to the gym for an on-camera training session w/ Gregg. Before she arrived, the producers called her and said that Gregg wouldn't be there (most likely he was never told). The producer then told her to save her anger for the cameras. That's from Deenie's blog on MySpace and THAT is just lame Real World, adolescent crap that the producers have decided to play this year! Another reason the show sucks this season.

So, if I understand it you do not really want to see the show of the air you just want to see a better show? A lot of what you said, I have to agree with, except for lateness. There is NO excuse short of death. Gregg is in the Service industry. To do it well, one must "Serve" which means, making sure you are on time for appointments with clients. She also stated that there was a lack of communication between her and Gregg...therefore, he knew he was going to be late and never tried to let her know in advance - Inexcusable. He tried to say she had been late for appointments, but it doesn't matter...she's the patron of his hired skills. Doesn't matter if she's late...he still gets paid. Did he get docked for being late?

The reason Deenie said that about Her Journey etc was because Gregg's

first response to her about his being late was something like, This is your

journey, I can't do this for you. He immediately changed the reason for

his being late to Deenie wanting attention. He manipulated her and Lisa

helped with telling Gregg something about how Deenie needed the love.

This entire situation was mishandled, by the producers because they

set it up. It is time to see the truth. Gregg is a jerk. He is late, he

is always canceling appointments and not calling her back. He has made

it seem she is leaning on him and in truth, he is not living up to what

was promised Deenie would get by Jackie. I cannot understand how

anyone can miss the truth of this. According to Deenie's blog, Gregg

had actually CANCELED yet another work out session with Deenie only

he hadn't even told her. The Producers called her to be sure she was

coming in, and the told her that Gregg had canceled. I would not be

surprised if she didn't think that they wanted her there for drama but

also because Gregg was someone they wanted to be outed. Who

knows.

Why they showed us this stuff is beyond me. Makes me wonder what

is really going on with Bravo and NBC. I fault both of them. I wish I

didn't love Medium so much. smile.gif I have my television weakness also. smile.gif

QUOTE (KisaB @ May 13, 2008 - 05:14 PM) *
I wasn't judging Deenie for her size at all. I really wasn't. Hmmmm.... let me see if I can clarify...

--To me, Deenie's outburst was too much. I'm not saying she wasn't justified in her irritation with a late or absent trainer, but her blabbering on about "my life, my journey" and all the emotional drama was out of line. Deenie's reaction alone is what made me question her stability. It had nothing to do with her size or who she may be on a daily basis and now that I've read her blog and know that she's an "actress;" I'm not really surprised by the drama. But still, what some people call drama and emotion can easily be defined as a mood disorder in my book. tongue.gif Fine, be emotional, be passionate but know when and where it's appropriate.

--Deenie does make excuses. I just read her blog and everything was a rationalization and justification for what she did. Even her blog was emotional. I think it would be very difficult to train her. We all make excuses for various things in our lives, but hers are clearly related to food and exercising. Her needs go beyond just working out. I don't see her as 'fat and lonely' at all. I suspect she has many friends but I also get the feeling that Deenie needs to be the center of attention and that she needs alot of stroking. An emotionally independent person would not feel as rejected and wounded as Deenie did about Gregg's behavior. Deenie made the issue with Gregg very personal and it wasn't. Gregg was wrong for being late, etc but it had nothing to do with Deenie on any sort of personal level.

I realize that we've seen very little of Deenie but I get the feeling she's someone who can just wear you out.

yeah yeah yeah... the other trainers (at least Jesse) spend more time with and call their SkyLab clients but they also get a lot more camera time when they do. I don't think it would be the same away from the cameras. I don't know of any program in any field where you're allowed to call your trainer anytime 24/7 without being charged for it! People have their own lives and unless you're on your way to the olympics and expected to win a gold medal and I'm your coach, don't call me unless it's scheduled and I'm being paid. If Jackie wants her trainers to be life coaches as well, then those hours and the total number allowed per week better be included in the contract.... I know that may sound harsh but there have to be clear lines otherwise people will just take advantage of it.... not everyone but Deenie has some sort serious entitlement thing going there...

Oh, yeah. Gregg should have been on time but it should have never turned into this drama....

Deenie needs to take a step back and get a sense of just how many people live in this world. Her "ME" thing is almost as big as Jackie's....

Alright-enough about Deenie. I have a question about Peeler but this post is already too long... OY!

no you are right and that was uncalled for and if you notice I did go back and edited my reply! But yes you are asking for the show to be taken off the air!

I did go back and read your edited version - thank you. Did you consider my response bashing or bullying you? I hope not, as that was not the spirit in which it was intended.

I personally do not feel that my response to the show has been a "politacally correct" thing. I have been sincerely disturbed by things that have gone on this season culminating in several things that happened in the last episode. Prior to this season I genuinely enjoyed the show and thought highly of Jackie and her trainers (especially Doug). Had Jackie not participated in the highly unprofessional and cruel gossip about a cancer survivor client's body and unjustly fired her trainer who just wanted to talk with her about it and then lied (and kept on lying and lying and lying about it) I would have just stopped watching the show and that would have been it. The fact that she can treat people so horribly (not to mention her overweight clients, her trainers, and just about everybody else on the show) without consequence feels so wrong (talk about a bully!) that I just felt like I had to do something about it. I honestly think she is spinning out of control and needs to be stopped - for her own good and for the good of those around her.

Don't worry though, we are still but "little people" and Bravo will not cancel the show mid season. They won't even acknowledge us (except to lock down threads we post on) so I don't think you have anything to worry about. This season will progress as if our little protest did not happen. Yes, several sponsors took notice and are considering pulling thier support - but even this will not stop the show mid season.

You see, I am a teacher too. I am not politically correct. And, like you, I do not like bullies. I am just an average person living an average life. And I just wanted to express my concern about something I found unjust and disturbing.

Gregg's music career wasn't taking up nearly as much time as it appears

to be doing this season. Tess's appointments were not being canceled

or changed, and he had the time he needed to do his job well.

As far as Gregg, he has always made me nervous. I was a bit curious

about the court thing he had which he was afraid was going to send him

away for awhile. He told Zen about it.

Kathy Griffin is a professional Comedienne...and a damned fine one at that. Her art is her humor. This show is not humorous in the least (absolutely no comparison to this show). It depicts Athletic Trainers, Businesswomen, and Lesbians in the poorest of lights. The average viewer actually believes that this is the way of all Athletic Trainers, Business Women, and Lesbians. If They (Bravo TV) could show a 'Real' Counterpart to the main charecter that wasn't demaning or degrading (REAL), I would be less likely to support a boycott.

One of the things I have to say about Deenie...is that if you don't think a severe ankle sprain is a real injury..then you haven't experienced one. It does HURT...and one minute you can be up and then next minute you feel a SHARP pain and your ankle just gives..and down you go!

When I broke my foot and was in a cast...I had more ability and it took less time to heal then when I sprained my ankle. When I sprained my ankle..I had MULTIPLE PT sessions...and it took MONTHS to get back the strength back.

I sprained mine when I stepped off a step wrong. It hurt so bad I swore I broke my ankle. My friends called an ambulance...and I remember the EMTs warning me that if it was a sprain it was going to take longer to heal then a break. I thought they were kidding. They were right on the money.

About the only exercise that didn't hurt was anything in the pool (as long as I was careful about not moving my foot when I kicked).

Nurses get upset with the Porn industry with their depiction of their chosen profession. I get upset at this show's 'Soft Porn' view of a very serious industry. Believe it or not, not all trainers are sluts or egomaniacle, self-proclaimed experts in the field (of which they have NO training). Bravo TV is dispersing a myth to folks like yourself. I would be much happier if it were about a trash collection company, but I fear the Garbage collectors of America would be just as justified in their aversion of the depiction.

Personally I would like the show to be cancelled and Jackie to loose every penny she ever made off of it. Why should Jackie and Bravo profit from re victimizing women who had to have their breasts removed because of breast cancer. Jackie and Bravo deserve any backlash they get from degrading women who have had breast augmentation due to cancer all for what ratings. They thought this was gonna boost ratings, well I hope it doesn't. They say what goes around comes around, looks like Jackie and Bravo have some bad karma coming their way.

WOW! Amazing! Um, I never discuss personal details about myself on boards so you have no idea what I do or don't do for a living. I will say this, I along with MANY Americans do not wear a helmet and ride the short bus to a 'center' everyday. I can tell you that I'm um, well let's just say I'm pretty well versed in the area of fitness training, gay fitness training, straight fitness training and even the Special Olympics...

I do not think that all trainers are sluts, egomaniacs, etc anymore than I think that every gay man has sex at the gym! (A stereotype that was perpetuated by Will and Grace by the way). I also don't look at nurses and think Porn and for the record, I'll give you this one tidbit of personal info. My mother is a nurse and I have never ever once heard her say anything like that! Your opinion. Not an overall reality.

What I think is that Jackie is really unpleasant, she made huge errors in the Jamie Eason situation. Beyond that, it's a show. A TELEVISION show! And if you really think that everyone is an idiot and thinks that all lesbian business women are this way because of a SHOW on Bravo, then you must be very busy because there are literally thousands of shows reinforcing stereotypes or depicting various groups in a poor light.

Your comment was insensitive at best. It was a huge generalization that assumed complete ignorance not only on my part but for the entire population as a whole and that makes you much more like Jackie Warner than anyone else....
KisaB
I don't like Peeler anymore than I like Jackie. I used to like Peeler and thought Jackie was wrong but now, I think they're both a bit deluded. Brian needs to show some class and stop talking about Jackie. He also totally lost me when: 1. When he made some vague claim to the new Greg about being in the military. Peeler was never in the military. Greg WAS and is very accomplished. 2. When he freaked out and said all sorts of derogatory things about Jackie and used the fact that she is a lesbian against her. That was wrong! The fact that she is a lesbian had NOTHING to do with their relationship! What if she was black? Would he have left the building making comments about her race?

I don't choose sides when it comes to Peeler and Jackie. To me, they just cancel each other out. There's no way Doug would have approved of Brian's behavior. That's one of the reasons Doug even spent time with Brian... he was trying to help him...

Fact: SkySport is Jackie's gym. Say whatever about her, but she did make her own way and achieve some very decent success. Kudos to that.

Fact: Brian Peeler was a 'failed' construction worker in LA looking for work. He was CAST on Work Out by Central Casting to introduce conflict. Well, he did that and now he just can't stop talking about it. I guess it's more interesting than discussing dry wall.
