Dr. Boogie's lacquered cow plop hairdo for the Asian bride was sheer genius.

I am stunned that Tabitha is out...she was my choice for the winner...now I don't care....

The only mistake Tabatha (Tabitha?) made tonight was a cultural one. As an American who's lived in the US for 25 years (11 years in LA) and Australia for 20 years, I immediately knew that her frank, cocky, shoot-from-the-hip, no B-S attitude would get her in trouble.

The fact is, we Americans, specifically Los Angelenos, are allergic to raw truth. We much prefer denial and spin. Aussies tend to dive into the fray head first, hang the consequences. It's a more interesting, albeit more risky, way to live.

I thought the judge's dismay at Tabatha's candor was laughable. Or perhaps it reminded them too much of themselves, so exposing it was too much for them to handle? As Tabatha said, she has made no secret of her dislike of Weasel Boy, so why the shocked faces?

Hair styling is an expressive art, so personal feelings tend to be more present than in say, accounting or retail management. Besides, drama and bitchiness makes for good TV. Why else do we bother to watch these sadistic/masochistic reality shows? I for one no longer care to watch the show since the 2 strongest characters and stylists have been axed.

But don't cry for Tab. I'm sure she will make the rounds of all the TV interview shows in Australia and live happily ever after, free from the hypocrisy of American "experts."

I understand what you're saying but I must respectfully disagree. I like a hairdresser with an opinion and point of view...and isn't afraid to speak it. As the client, I encourage my stylist to guide me with color, cut, and styles...what s/he thinks is best for me and my look and type. I'd rather they be blunt and honest and not wishy-washy. So I wish I could get Tabatha to work on my hair. I wish I could afford her!!!!

Well that finale was bogus! I knew as soon as Tabitha threw out that vitriol about Tyson it was over!! The hair was bad enough, but that judges shock at total truth just overwhelmed everyone in the studio!! It was destiny since Tyson had won the last challenge!! No way should Ben have made it being a follower like that!! Few of his efforts were that good!! Tabitha was pretty consistant, but I suppose Tyson would drag her down one way or the other!! They had it out for one another from the beginning and he helped it along by picking her in the 1st place!! What a dope!! I suppose it's up to Anthony and Daisy!!
ShakaamaZulu
Well for all of you that were on tabath AND tyson's jock, i get the last laugh. Their hairstyles were god aweful. Tyson is a one trick pony, he can cut hair. I never got why you all liked Tabatha.

Now as far as the judges being shocked by what she said... they realy need to get a life. It's a reality show. I bet the producer was creaming in his shorts at Tabatha's outbreak. It was the best T.V. in the entire show. Why do you think they continously showed her saying how much she hated the poor guy. I was rather annoyed that they were shocked. These people are grown, they are not kids. Tabatha has every right to say she doesn't like shrimpy Tyson. And for the bridesmaids and party to say "OH YEAH WE NOTICED THEY DIDN'T GET ALONG" gimme a break, they'll probably go home and not shut up about it.

Now for the judges to be shocked by Dr. Boogy is STUPID. The guy does red carpet up-dos all day long. For Ben to be paired with Boogy, OF COURSE he should shut up and listen to Boogy. He's a wise man to do so. And the bride and bride'smaid looked awesome, as well as the mother.

I might like Boogy, because I'm capricorn, it's all about control. I don't talk people into anything they didn't want anyway, but i don't have time for someone to pussy foot around either. Tell me yes or no in 10 seconds or don't waist my time. And if I know something and i know you don't know it, I make sure you get right behind me and follow. I'll not put you down, but please don't waist my time speaking, take notes and don't make me repeat myself. Trust me, if you know something I don't know, i'll get right behind you and take notes. You can bet, next time i see you, i'll know more about it than you.

I see the previews for the upcoming show and the judges saying "oh my god Boogy is so overbearing." As far as i'm concerned, the judges are there to observe. And only judge the finished product.

I have gone to people who gossiped and cried and threw temper tantrums and yelled and screamed. And i sat right there and paid them extra because when i walked out the door girls fainted when i walked by. I could care less what their lifestyle is, their demeanor, their behavior. Make me look fabulous and you can be loony as a june bug. I don't go to my auto mechanic for his pithy conversation. I don't go to the grocery store for the ambiance.

Anthony and daisy?

Anthony did one good hairstyle, the one at the very begining where he did the hair like the hostess. And daisy, need i remind you of the orange hair? the never winning?

Ben of course is ridiculous.

But, Dr. Boogy knows what he's doing. He won the mens' challenge and turned that ugly guy into a friggin red carpet escort "300" look-alike. And he doesn't talk [ unlike Daisy ] about anything he doesn't know about. Every elimination he completely explains to the judges what they are looking at.

I guarantee if that bride does her wedding and has her hair down everyone seeing the pictures are going to go .... uh wtf. She's friggin asian, her hair is bone straight and doesn't hold a curl for more than 2 seconds. She didn't know wtf she was even talking about. The only reason the bride'smaid looked better, was because she's a better looking woman to begin with haha. Had the bride come to me and said i want my hair down. I woulda said "ok miss asian i'm gonna flat iron your hair. That'll be $20.00 thanks for coming"... haha

I agree about Ben, Daisy does have diarrhea of the mouth, and never winning a challenge seems like a virtue!! Who's left after today?? lol!! What has Boogy won with all his BS?? lol!! Just because he can con a con, doesn't mean he truly believes all he says!! You can add him to the mix, but he will probably crash and burn at the most inopportune time!! We'll see!!

I like Tabatha's remarks because they were honest, from the beginning I could see where she came from. Tyson really did act narcisstic. I really don't understand why the judges looked so shocked when Tabatha shot him down, it's not like it's a secret she never has liked him. I was annoyed they fed us all of that, and no one even got to talk about the hair, so as far as we could see, they left because they don't get along.

Now the main problem I had with their opinions was about their problem when Boogie didn't go with what the bride wanted when she said she wanted her hair down. That attitude is so hypocritical, when you compare to how they reprimanded Daisy during the challenge where they gave those women the celebrity hairstyles, and Daisy couldn't get it across that the girl could not look like Christina Aguilera. Dr. Boogie made it clear that her hair down was not going to look good, and I agreed with that and couldn't see why she was going for it. Personally, I have seen very few brides with their hair down unless they're maybe at the reception.

I guess that Allure Magazine curse is holding down, but only if you rule out Anthony.

I think Dr.B is getting way too cocky he is showing his true colors. he is not a team player either (when the time called for it) it was part of the challenge to "get a long and show you can be part of a functioning team"
he blew it! and will blow it. it looks to me that either Daisy or Anthony will be the Shear Genius

I AGREE A HUNDRED PERCENT

I THINK THAT IS ONE THING I LIKED ABOUT TABBY

HER "NO FEAR" HONESTY

GRANTED IT COULD BE BLUNT

AND ILL TIMED

BUT HONEST

SHE SPOKE WELL AND STRONG ON HER EXIT

IN MY OPINION TYSON CHOSE HER FOR A PURPOSE

PERHAPS IT WAS HER DESIRE TO WIN

BUT TO HIS SURPRISE

IT WAS HER HONEST REPOSE THAT CREATED A DETANT FOUNDATION

IN ESSENCE SHE LURED HIM INTO CREATIVE SUICIDE

I FEEL SHE KNOWS WHO SHE IS

WHAT SHE CAN DO

AND THAT TYSON WOULD FALL TO HIS OWN INSECURITIES

LIKE HER

GLAD TO SEE TYSON GO

I thought it was pretty funny that Tabitha and Tyson got eliminated together. Tab pretty much deserved that fate. She's a great hairstylist, but what's up with all the hate coming out of her mouth? Very childish. I picked her as the probable winner in this thing.

To be fair to Tyson though, she did the bride's hairdo that the judges didn't like, and if she could have refrained from badmouthing Tyson to her clients (yes, I know it was not in her ability to do so), maybe they could of stayed on instead of Boogie and Ben. Maybe not, the mother of the bride hairdo was terrible!

Tab has a life and [works at? owns?] a salon in New Jersey, so I wouldn't say she's ignorant of American culture.

And anyway, I think the shock of the judges wasn't so much at what she was saying, but because it was in front of the clients. Plus, she should have been trying to sell the hair instead of obsessing bizarrely on Tyson. And, you are supposed to transcend personal feelings in your professional life to get a job done. Remember, the clients said they were aware that Tab didn't like Tyson? I imagine that's unprofessional no matter where you are from.
sandisays
Well, Tabitha will not be remembered as a great hair dresser she will be remembered as the b**ch who couldn't get along with people, acted rude in front of her client, and didn't even make it to the finals. Believe me if my hairdresser was in an argument with the preson at the station next to me I would be worried about what my hair would look like (scary). Dr. Boogie and Ben didn't do much better with the challenge but atleast they sort of got along. Dr. B thinks hes going to walk into the finals but so far i have not been impressed with his work. And the Ninji (sp), enough said.

The wall of death has spoken and not a moment too soon.

Agreed...Dr. Boogie said it-that wall is the kiss of death. As soon as Tyson picked Tabatha I knew she was done. Too bad she was the most interesting thing about the show. Daisy is very happy to have won but will the curse continue?
Madame_Bleue
Tyson and Tabatha- Glad they are gone. Tyson's "everything I do is the best ever" attitude got on my nerves. Tabatha, well it's no secret that I couldn't stand her, I think it was really stupid for her to go off at the mouth in front of the judges, If she wouldn't have done that they might have stayed. Like one of the judges said "If they were in a hotel room and acted like that it would have ruined everyone's mood" it's unprofessional, you put it aside and work your best. I don't think she had to right to critique Tyson's aweful work, yes it was bad, when her's was terrible! That bride looked like her stylist forgot to finish. There's a way to be honest without being mean and rude, too bad for Tabatha she never learned charm. I'm glad they're both gone, see ya later!

Dr. Boogie and Ben- Dr. Boogie really annoys me, I don't know if it's the arrogance (he's just as bad as Tyson.) or his whole "Doctor" thing with the scrubs and all. Wedding hair and red carpet hair are different and he gave that bride a red carpet look and it was ugly. The bride's maid looked great, if he wanted to do an updo he should have done that one on the bride. However, she wanted her hair down, and with Asian hair it's hard because of the texture, it tends to fall flat, however with a really good iron and very strong hairspray (Big Sexy Hair is amazing.) it could have worked (at least for the challenge.). I really like Ben though, he really hasn't had a chance to shine because most of the recent challenges have been updos and those obviously aren't his strong point, all stylists have a weak area. I think however if he's given the chance to do his thing, he'll shine. His personality is great, he cracks me up. Did anyone notice how his had that extention on his head during that one challenge? And the Ninja thing had me rollin'. I have a feeling he's gonna shine soon, he's waiting in the background to jump out anytime.

Daisy and Anthony- Daisy talks a lot! However, she's a great stylist, that bride looked AMAZING! I absolutely loved it, the whole party looked great! I was so happy for the mom, she was so thrilled and she looked great. I think it gave people a look at how a stylist can really help someone and give them a whole new attitude. I can tell you it's the best feeling when someone comes in and sits down in you chair feeling bad and after you do their hair they feel like a million bucks it's the best thing in the world, you feel like you gave back to someone and made that persons day. Anthony does really good work, I'm waiting for him to step out of shadows and do something great, he's got it in there I just wanna see what he can really do.

Predictions:
If the curse holds then I'm guessing that Anthony will be the next to leave. If it doesn't, Boogie's attitude will get the best of him.

I agree with this. I kinda liked Tabatha's honesty but I thought in some ways her ego was clashing with Tyson's because they both had 'em. I honestly didn't see anything so bad about Tyson. She said he shouldn't make her 2nd pick and he didn't; she was last. She walked into that and she hated Tyson for following her own view. He really wasn't that bad a guy. Most of 'em had egos and I think Tabatha and Tyson's were about equal. It seemed to me she wanted to oust Tyson frankly and for that reason I really couldn't watch much of the episode. I knew what was going to happen.

I don't see how Tyson is a one-trick pony given he won for the "Sally Shag" and the Elizabethan thing. Frankly, speaking of that, I thought the dress was all wrong with its width being so great; it seemed as much (if not moreso) as 18th century dress as a 16th century costume.

To me it kinda proved Tabatha got her priorities warped in cheering for Tyson's outster more than dealing with her own. It seemed to me her disgust for Tyson outweighed his for her and thus the problem of the pairing laid more with her being incapable of putting aside their problems for the sake of doing quality work. The fact that she's going to be the complainer about a problem she has a large share in creating to me is what would have been considered ridiculous.
swiss74
In my humble opinion, I really do not think Tabatha sabatoged the challenge last night, she is just too much of a competitor for that. I actually thought all three of the hair designs were substandard from work they had done previously. We all knew that Tyson was weak in putting hair up. That was evident in previous challenges. From the work the two put forward last night they should have been eliminated. Tyson made a poor choice in a partner for the challenge. I can not believe he did not know that Tabatha did not like him. Tabatha did not have time to rework the bridesmaid hairdo that Tyson created. Tabatha was right, I to have seen better French twists done at a beauty school. What he did with the bride's mother was sad. It seemed last night anything he touched was substandard. Where was Tyson's head in the sand for the last few weeks? How could he not know of Tabatha's hostility?

I think that Dr. Boogie and his partner were definitely better than Tabatha and Tyson, but they were not good enough to beat out Daisy and her partner. Dr. Boogie's partner was very smart in letting Boogie take the lead in the challenge last night. That is not to say he is inferior in hair design but Boogie has more experience in that kind of design, or I at that is what I think.

Daisy's hair design for the bride was stunning and the hairdo totally worked with the bride and her dress. That team really produced last night.

Now for my opinion on who the winner probably will be. Remember this is just my humble opinion. I have felt that Daisy was the dark horse in the race. She on a whole, continually has come up with hair designs that are creative and beautiful. When left to her own devices and not trying to totally please the client she has been brilliant. The one time when the client put so many restraints on her her work just was not up to par. When she has been allowed to be creative it has appeared to me the design was great and the client has been pleased even if it was not what the client wanted at the start.

I don't know had Tabatha and Daisy been paired if they would have been the winners. Whether Daisy talks to much or not is really not relevant, if she can create hair designs like last night's I would go back to her over and over to have my hair done. If her chatter became annoying I would just tune her out.

guajira in da 212
I'm so glad Tabatha is out. She did know how to cut hair, but that's about it. All she could do was that. There are plenty other hairstylists out there who are more talented and have a better attitude. I'd hate to go to someone who is moaning and complaining the entire time. I believe her constant negativity led to her defeat. Her bride's hair was awful and in fact, was worse than Tyson's styles. She did not leave graciously and instead left looking bitter and angry. What a sad way to lose. Somebody must've really messed with her for her to have such a negative outlook on life. Poor thing.
Pancha125
Tabatha let her hate for Tyson rule her and it was this that led to her
demise, like all wicked witches, rather than Tyson's hairstyles.
When is it ok to act like a ten year old mean girl when you are in a
professional setting? Never,it leads to elimination. We did not see all
the discussion between the judges that lead to their decision, but I am sure it wasn't Tabatha's frankness that cost her the competition.

If she was as sophisticated as she likes to portray herself as, she would
have never participated in this schoolyard behavior. She thought Tyson was weird, so she didn't like him, so she thinks its ok to berat him and try to
humiliate him. I am personally disguested by this attitude. Is she not wise enough to know that when you concentrate on others' faults and not accentuate your gifts you are setting yourself up for failure.
Didn't she learn from last week when instead of losing, Tyson won, because of her misguided energy. She could have turned the whole
situation around, like Anthony did. But her hate, ego, and prejudices prevented this, so she got what she put out. She was the master of her own destruction.

P.S. Her hairstyle for the bride was dismal.

If not Tyson, who deserves more contempt? lol!! He started all this stuff trying to hose her when he had the power to do so!! As I said on the Tyson string, he went out of his way to make her life difficult by choosing her last when picking their models!! HE DID THAT AT LEAST TWICE!! HELLO!! Wake up and smell the freakin' hairspray!! As unpleasant as you may think Tabby was, she really only had a problem with 2 people; Tyson and Evangeline with her hedgeclippers!!

Yeah but Jay...To me...that is just plain strategy..He didn't do it venomously...He just did it to win which is smart. He never once said I can't stand that beotch so I'm getting rid of her...Tyson seems sweet to me. Tab's hatred of Tyson was so unwarranted and over the top, methinks she just wanted good TV time. The villains always become the stars.

The guy never said a bad word about anyone. Everyone else seems to be getting along somewhat. Look how Ben took the Dr 's criticisms.......lol! He just stood there and took it like a man.

Ben is one together dude if he could just stand there and not get mad at the Doc. I like them all, but Tabby would NOT be a friend of mine if she is that closed minded. I think she knew what she was doing all along. Whatever her reasons were. No one else seems to have a BIG problem with Tyson.

OK... You don't like the guy but to start spewing that at judges table is ..well....it was uncalled for....Yes they probably would went it anyway. They both cut hair beautifully but they didn't DO the Doo's well!!

OK.. Just watched Tab's exit video and she feels he lost it for her......WELL...NO If I saw something I really hated......I woulda' said something right away and fought for my team. She had to have seen how it was going. She coulda' saved it for them. He says she worked on the french twist too. The french twist was a classic. It didn't look all that bad. I need to watch again...Oyyy

Well you didn't notice Tab, Boogy, and Ben huddled together I see!! lol!! They all seemed to be conspiring to get rid of Tyson!! No one really cared for him, but Tabitha just expressed her animous a lot more publically!! It's over now for both of them unfortunately!! It isn't the 1st time the most talented have been axed off these shows and it won't be the last!! American Idol kept the "doowop boy" yesterday! lol!!

That'll be $20.00 thanks for coming"... haha

Boogie only can cut with clippers. That's mortifying. He might as well use the hedge clippers too!! He's good for wash & rolls or men's styles.
That's it. He butchered that one girls hair with the clippers. My visually impaired cousin could've done a better job.

Yeah, I see what you mean, but I also do haircuts with clippers and they are not that easy to achieve. But I've never have left a "tail" thing on the back... blink.gif A mullet would have looked much better than that! ...Wait! Didn't the Mullet go out some time ago? wacko.gif

Didn't she learn from last week when instead of losing, Tyson won, because of her misguided energy.

Tyson won last week because the judges did not know what an Elizabethian hair style looked like. Had they the judges done their homework they would have known, powdered wigs did not appear in the Elizabethian court it came much later in time. You can research this yourself on the web. Powdered wigs or hairstyles were more common in the French court.

Both Tabatha and Tyson deserved to go home. Tabatha's bride hair style was less than good, while Tyson blew it on the french twist and the brides mother's hair. Neither of them were good enough to prevent them from going home. They both failed horribly last night.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the episodes play out. This Sheer Genius has sure been entertaining, with personalities and hair styles.

I don't think it's fair that Tabatha had to get kicked out because of Tyson. I think Tyson is very annoying, though as is Tabatha. However she was very talented. Now I hope that Ben or Anthony wins. I don't think Daisys very good.

Daisy is awesome. She is consistently at the top.

Ben has been at or near the bottom each challenge!! I wonder how he even made the show but to be auf'd the 1st day!! lol!! His day/night effort was the only one I can remember he ever got any true praise!! Daisy has been at or near the top every challenge!! I'm no fan since she talks too much, but she's obviously good!! That wedding bride was stunning; I thought Grace Kelly right away!!

Ok, I'm not sure if a "cultural" mistake was the only one Tabitha made. I have to disagree with you there. Her high school bully antics were getting pretty boring. I think it's great that she's just so honest, but, there's a time and a place. I think the judges were just plain annoyed at her inability to be professional when it came to both the clients and her feelings towards Tyson. She acted like a child having a tantrum. I'm not sure if I'd call that "raw truth" and a "dangerous way to live." I'd call it pure immaturity.

Being a hair stylist myself, I couldn't IMAGINE bashing a fellow stylist to a CLIENT. The clients don't care about your personal drama. They just want their hair done. They want to be the center of your attention since they're paying for it. I certainly don't think they were just "allergic to the raw truth."

All in all, Tyson carried himself as a true professional. There's also a big difference in being cocky and confident. Tyson was very confident in his work. Believe it or not, it's okay to believe in yourself and give yourself a pat on the back for doing a good job. That's the true point I wish people would realize. Tabitha was very cocky. (which is usually the case with mediocre stylists - their ego is bigger than their talent) She was the true narcisist. She couldn't handle the fact that Tyson was a better stylist with a little more self esteem. She was pretty obsessed with him in the end....a little scary. She didn't even talk about herself, the hair, or the show anymore, just him....

Whether you live in LA, Australia, East Coast, Mid-West, whatever, unprofessional is unprofessional and childish is childish. I lived in LA myself for a little while and tend to think the exact opposite. There's nothing BUT harsh honesty there. Try living on the East Coast! We'll straight up let you know. It depends on what part of America you've lived on. LA's not the only city here smile.gif

I cant believe Tabatha is gone! I had her or Anthony winning with Boogie a very close second. Guess it could still come true.

Discuss!

Discuss? What's to Discuss? Shear Genius?

Oh, that would be the show that's being cleared out for the next season of Top Chef just as it was getting good. What other reason can there be for gratuitously cutting two challengers out of six? Regardless of the outcome, it's clearly a blood-letting.

And this is the _second_ time they cleared out two challengers on a single show. Geez guys, stop being so passive-aggressive! First it's "exciting new series," then it's "let's clear these guys out fast!"

Personally I like this series a lot, although I don't think it has the staying power of Top Chef or Project Runway. Hair styling is a fairly limited niche. But there's enough mileage for, say, one or two more episodes before ol' Tom graces our screens again. No rush, really!

Now the show has unceremoniously dumped most of its interesting contenders, basically out of expediency, more than anything else.

I don't like this "throwaway reality series" strategy that Bravo is pushing. It's making my head spin. Project Runway, Top Chef, Project Runway, Top Chef, Top Design, Shear Genius, Top Chef, ... AHHHHH! Enough already!

I think ultimately, if Bravo keeps this up, people are going to tune out. It's hard to tell what the channel is offering anymore. And it's a total mistake to beleive that Project Runway and Top Chef were successful because of some formulaic approach to Reality TV, as opposed to the unique chemistries of the competitors, the judges, and the creative medium.

In Shear Genius, it appears Bravo has opted for the formula over the people, and thus has thrown a promising and innovative series to the wolves.

I did forget to say, as much as I love Dr Boogie, I felt his styles were way too much bad 80`s prom hair. I felt he and Ben should have been the ones to leave.

True but I doubt it will happen here....i heard Top Chef has brought back the top three chefs from both seasons for a new show, that sounds like an interesting concept, it may happen here as well, in the future.

Just found this on the web , it seems Tabatha Coffey has asked Anthony to join her.
