Grin.....thanks, I'd forgotten about that one, was trying to place the reference when I read the swan post!

Good afternoon all, just poured me some cawwffeee, am relaxing on the porch and getting the place ready for tomorrow! Yes, I'm actually doing chores instead of cruising the coast with Le Bebe'! *smile* There's room for everyone! Glad to see all the old (dare I say gang?) friends LOL, and all the newcomers who've found their way to the porch! Kanpai!!!!

Oh *aside to NoTe* Yep, definitely have a great climate here in SoCal, unfortunately that also placed me and mine about eight miles from the recent fires and on standby to evac (which we didn't have to, thank goodness!)

*back to PR stuff*
Ummm.....I know everything is already taped, but here's my PR request for this season anyway!

Please, no flourshi ummm, flowrshm, ohhhh, please please please no Angela-flowery-THINGS!

Please, no salad bowl hats, no Mama-drama (I'm still cringing over the everyday woman challenge)

PLEASE let there be some contestants that tickle my funny bone the way Santino's take on Tim Gunn did and the way Kayne & Robert's lovely btchiness had me laughing myself silly in the midst of life dramas.

PR Powers that Be....
I want to laugh, groan, dish on the challenges with my board friends once again this season. I want to be surprised, maybe even dismayed once in awhile, but never ever bored. And please give me lots of the wonderful "carry on" Tim Gunn moments that keeps me watching PR!

Thank you!

Gotta go, *grin* just had a call and I have to run an unexpected errand. Gee, beautiful SoCal sunshine, my Le Bebe' with the top down, a twenty mile drive. Such a sacrifice! Enjoy the porch, later folks.

NoTe.....currently have 2 meows,(both altered of course) who only tolerate each other. My girl is grumpy, and the boy is young. Kind of like me and my teen LOL! The elder is a maine coone named Smokie and she's a "mama's girl" who loves to curl up in my arms like a baby and be rocked! Go figure....the other meow is a marmalade laddie-buck who loves to hunt birds whenever he can sneak out, and he is also my teen's faithful friend. My son has already decided that Buddy (the marmie) has to join him when the kidlet goes off to college in a few years. That's a fun thought! Instead of the dog eating his work, the cat clawed it!

Conversation sounds good around now.. and I look forward to tomorrow night to hear people's first impressions of the contestants and their work! I agree with ITSJUSTMEAOD that it is fun to simply watch the show and post reaction to what is very good entertainment. The producers are quite skilled at piecing together the film that will create certain story lines and impressions. And of course sometimes the contestants are complicit in falling into a certain "role" that they feel will help them (a la Wendy Pepper -the self-confessed schemer of season 1). wacko.gif

I read on one of the blogs that there may be more strife among the contestants because they are as a group more established than in previous years. It may be that some challenges will either be intentionally humiliating or call on them to cooperate more than usual in order to expose those whose egos get in the way, or conversely, to weed out those who are not aggressive enough to cope with egoists. ohmy.gif

So tonight let us curl up with our cats, hubbies and laptops and enjoy the last quiet evening on the boards. We have "Are You Being Served" and "Keeping Up Appearances" on ch 11 and at 9pm is "Dancing With the Stars". I guess you are not much of a tv person and more of a reader. Will your husband watch Project Runway with you? My guy has limited tolerance for my fluff and fandoms. It is a good thing that Bravo reruns the episodes the next day because sometimes I don't see the whole thing in one go unless I extricate myself and watch lonely in the kitchen which is where I usually post and beta. I just have to swivel the chair to see the tv which is great for cooking shows.. the instructive kind.. though I have to omit so many ingredients.. we are not adventurous eaters here. rolleyes.gif

I read farther on that you narrowly escaped the fires.. I guess the wind was fierce for a while. And Global warming is beginning to have consequences. We are lucky that we are near water but on high ground over crushed granite. I don't know the science of it, but I know that this old house has endured many storms. It started out as a summer house, but it was built to last.

Hyacinth Bucket of "Keeping Up Appearances" is a hoot! She has on this floral dress and hot pink hat with fake flowers atop! I wonder what costume designer does her wardrobe? That would be fun. I like the episode where she drags her husband sailing in a ridiculous outfit, but they end up in a rowboat! Well, it's time to grab snacks for the next show. Thank you for your sweet posts. Until tomorrow!

Yeah, yeah ... me and M.J.:

Said you wanna be startin' somethin', ya gotta be startin' somethin'.
I said you wanna be startin' somethin', ya gotta be startin' somethin'.
It's too high to get over and too low to get under,
You're stuck in the middle and the pain is thunder.

I took my baby to the doctor with a fever but nothin' he found.
By the time this hit the street they said she had a break down.
Someone's always tryin', start my baby cryin',
Talkin' squealin' lyin', say'n' you just wanna be startin' somethin'.

I said you wanna be startin' somethin', ...
It's too high to get over and too low to get under.
You're stuck in the middle and the pain is thunder.

Billie Jean is always talkin' when nobody else is talkin'.
Tellin' lies and rubbin' shoulders so they called her mouth a motor.
Someone's always tryin' to start my baby cryin',
Talkin' squealin' spyin', sayin' you just wanna be startin' somethin'.

I said you wanna be startin' somethin', ...

You're a veg'table, you're a veg'table,
Still they hate you, you're a veg'table.
You're just a buffet, you're a veg'table.
They eat off of you, you're a veg'table.

If you can't feed you baby, then don't have a baby,
And don't think maybe if you can't feed your baby.
You'll be always tryin' to stop that child from cryin'
Hostlin' stealin' lyin' - now baby's slowly dyin'.

I said you wanna be startin' somethin', ...
It's too high to get over and too low to get under. ...

Lift your head up high and scream out to the world,
I know I am someone and let the truth unfurl
No one can hust you now, because you know what's true,
Yes, I believe in me, so you believe in you.
Help me sing it: Mama se, mama sa, mama coo sa. ...
Mama se, mama sa, mama coo sa, mama se, mama sa, mama coo sa, ...

I forget the moniker of the poster that I promised that to.. it seemed to make sense at the time. I had very little interest in Top Chef and none at all in bringing any disputes over to a new board. I suspected certain posters were posting tandem.. backing up each other in their bullying for cheap laughs. I also suspected some were posting under more than one registration. The dispute sucked all the fun out of posting for many until leaving was the only viable option for some. I hope that never happens here.

I would rather post with someone who is kind than who is a sharp wit, though I appreciate humor! Lucille Ball is a personal goddess of mine. Supe and I registered on the Bravo QE board in 2004 within weeks of each other and hit it off almost immediately. Kindred.

As to my avatar, do you not remember Haldir of Lothlorien? Did you see the movie "Lord of the Rings"? Haldir was played by the very fine Craig Parker from New Zealand. The writer Kenaz sums up the character of Haldir in this funny play on the Gilbert & Sullivan tune from "The Pirates of Pensance". Kenaz has filled out his character much to my tastes in her riveting fanfiction on her own site and many others.

1. The Warden of Lothlorien
HALDIR:
I am the very model of a Warden of Lothlorien
I've information Noldor, Sindar, Dwarf and Numenorean
I know the kings of Gondor and I've fought the fights historical
From Gondolin to Barad-dur in order categorical!

With Orophin and Rumil I've planned for matters tactical
I'm master of the longbow and with sword I'm very practical
'Bout Uruk-hai and bloody yrch I'm teeming with a lot o' lore,
With many cheerful facts about the Silmarills of Feanor...

GALADHRIM:
With many cheerful facts about the silmarills of Feanor.
With many cheerful facts about the silmarills of Feanor.
With many cheerful facts about the silmarills of Feanor!

HALDIR:
I'm very good at hiding in the boughs of giant Mallorn trees;
When I see Halflings bearing evil rings it makes me ill at ease,
In short, in matters Noldor, Sindar, Dwarf and Numenorean,
I am the very model of a Warden of Lothlorien.

GALADHRIM:
In short, in matters Noldor, Sindar, Dwarf and Numenorean,
He is the very model of a Warden of Lothlorien!

HALDIR:
I know our mythic history, Celebrimbor's and Glorfindel's;
I'm pledged to serve Galadriel, with Celeborn I'm close as well,
I'm not a friend of Gimli's, he won't pass without a terse remark,
The dwarf he breathes so loudly we could surely shoot him in the dark!

I can tell a filthy ranger from the wielder of Anduril
I know the trilling tune that flows so lightly from the Nimrodel!
Then I can hum a fugue of which I've heard from Lindir's mandolin,
And whistle all the airs from that infernal Lay of Leithian.

GALADHRIM:
And whistle all the airs from that infernal Lay of Leithian.
And whistle all the airs from that infernal Lay of Leithian.
And whistle all the airs from that infernal Lay of Leithian!

HALDIR:
The slash fic writers pair me with the Greenwood archer's handsome form
They'll tell you ev'ry detail of Prince Legolas's uniform:
In short, in matters Noldor, Sindar, Dwarf and Numenorean,
I am the very model of a Warden of Lothlorien.

GALADHRIM:
In short, in matters Noldor, Sindar, Dwarf and Numenorean,
He is the very model of a Warden of Lothlorien.

HALDIR:
In fact, when I know who is meant by Gil-Galad Erienion,
and I can tell at sight a Mirkwood arrow from a javelin,
When such affairs as sorties and surprises I'm more vigilant,
And I know movie viewers often say that I'm belligerant,
When Peter Jackson offs me with an orch blade on the fortress keep,
Remember from your book-lore that I never set foot near Helm's Deep
In short, when Hobbits, Men, an Elf and dwarf show up in 'Lorien
You'll say a lesser Marchwarden would never deign to let them in!

GALADHRIM:
You'll say a lesser Marchwarden would never deign to let them in!
You'll say a lesser Marchwarden would never deign to let them in!
You'll say a lesser Marchwarden would never deign to let them in!

HALDIR:
For my military knowledge, though my arrogance is oft engaged,
Has only been brought down from the beginning of the Second Age;
But still, in matters Noldor, Sindar, Dwarf and Numenorean,
I am the very model of a Warden of Lothlorien.

GALADHRIM:
But still, in matters Noldor, Sindar, Dwarf and Numenorean,
He is the very model of a Warden of Lothlorien!

Just convo with NoTe! (very OT! *grin*)

My friends who took the pics are the ones living in a mobile home park and they have a beautifully overgrown yard....they are definitely a very laid back "California" couple, she's an artist and musician, and works with her husband doing painting and restoration of buildings! They are very very neat folks.

*smile* Not doing a girls night out....but am planning more than a few lunchtime beach cruises with some of my gal-buddies! Hubby's sweet, has no problem with it. I think it kind of tickles him about me and Le Bebe'
LOL!
As to the books vs. TV, one of the good things is that I go back and forth between insomnia and needing frequent naps. So I end up doing TV and reading (sometimes at the same time!)

Love my sci-fi movies and series, (and your Gilbert & Sullivan version from Lord of the Rings is a CLASSIC) See, I go to ComicCon with my teen each summer because I am a sci-fi fanatic!

Beside that, I have an addiction to the CSI (all), NCIS, and Law and Order CI series. (besides, of course TC and PR!) I do definitely read like crazy, often have more than one or two books going at the same time, write poetry in particular, and am branching out into a fantasy novel, do tons of things with digital photography, especially melding the photos with original haiku.

Let's see.....love cooking but am NOT a chef, love yarnwork....knitting and crocheting and redesign of old clothes! LOL...my hubby knits and weaves so we don't usually fight over money....we fight over yarn LOL! (Which one of us gets to use which color!) Tis fun and keeps me from paying attention to the aches and pains LOL! There you go NoTe....everything about Jazzie there is to know in one post LOL!

Love to you and yours (see, I get attached so darned easily, just ask anybody on the board!)

Do we know who actually had designed that dress for her?

Craig Parker... oops. Yeah I never would have remembered that. I can't wait for The Hobbit. I've no clue how it'll be edited into three hours of screen time though.

It's a credit to Craig how unforgettable he is from a handful of lines in the 2001-3 movies. His photos look so different from his character of course. It took hours to get into his makeup. In RL he looks like "the boy next door". I have the extended version of the movie trilogy but have never been to a LOTR convention. I've read the women still mob him, but he is not stuck up at all. I don't know if he is married or not; I am a fan of his skill as an actor of course, but mainly his character in the movie reminds me much of someone very close to me.. wink.gif maybe 20 or 30 years ago.. ha!

IT'S TOO EARLY TO MAKE PREDICTIONS BUT . . .

In preparation for the first episode tomorrow night I took a second look at the three outfits each designer showed at the gala preview party in New York last week. By and large I've tried to overlook personalities this early in the series and figured that as of now I just might be more objective in grading their work. I rated each runway item on a scale of 1 through 5 trying to balance originality with practicality, impact with construction, edginess with wearability. If I had any doubt I added a plus or minus to each item. So based on a possible score of 15 here's my grade for each of our designer candidates going into the first round.

Top Contenders:
Jack 13+
Chris 13
Rami 12

Good Job:
Christian 10
Steven 10
Kit 10
Elisa 10-

Dark Horses:
Kevin 9+
Marion 8+
Ricky 8+
Jillian 8

Make-it-work:
Sweet P 7
Carmen 7

Pack y'bags:
Victorya 7--
Simone 5

Hmm ... we have three kitties--Sonny (sadly minus his Cher now), Grabby (named after Galadriel, or as we refer to her, "Grabby Elf Lady") and Weasley (our new little gangly orange boy, named after Ronald Weasley), and we also have three mice--Andromeda, Narcissa and Ballatrix. Are we allowed to participate in the Kitty Cuddle too, or is this one a Members Only affair?

Lia

Hi again Lia..

So you share some of my fandoms.. that's a relief! I get attached to people and things at rough points in my life and refuse to let go.. no te vayas.. see?

And when have I ever been Members Only? The only refuge I refuse to share is my cave with Supe. tongue.gif

Affair is such a loaded word.. ha! ohmy.gif Of course you are welcome to cuddle.. Why grabby elf lady? Galadriel has it rough wearing Nenya! And if you get a white ferret you can call it Draco.. it will eat your mice and bite your cats so maybe not..

I am on and off here and miss much, but I go back and read when I can.
I direct some posts to individuals but all are always welcome to comment.
Chatting with Jazzie has become my comfort zone when things get confusing.. we have so much in common.. not knitting! rolleyes.gif

Soon the board will be brimming with new posters and ideas! wink.gif
