Nope. No dairy products either. Thinking about about something pineapple based. Or homemade bbq sauce.

So, you're having to improvise? You gettin' a jump on the next episode, chucole? wink.gif

Do you have some type of oil, a liquid like juice, stock, wine, or beer, and either flour or cornstarch? You can make a sauce if you do.

Or try this stir-fry sauce if you have the ingredients: OJ, pineapple, garlic, ginger (powdered or fresh), a good oil, crushed red pepper, soy sauce, honey or cane syrup.

Saute the garlic in the oil, add the pineapple, ginger, and crushed red pepper. Add the OJ, soy sauce, and honey continue cooking a little. Sprinkle in about 1 Tablespoon cornstach, stirring, and continue cooking til it thickens. Add your meatballs. Sweet and spicy. happy.gif

I don't have Imperial Jade which would be darker green and more uniform, but a bangle of natural
@@@@@@@@@@@@A grade jade that looks half translucent green and half white. I have not had it very long, and I do hope it gets darker as that would look better against my skin, though I do wear white and brights often. You are right that close up it does look very complex and mesmerizing.

Oh sweets I've got beautiful chills.
How beautiful.
Let's hope that day is a long time coming. wub.gif

I've decided my whatever.....service
or memorial ...I can't go anywhere
near a church I will burn in hell laugh.gif

It will be nothing but fun.

I actually had a thought for a biz to do theatrical funerals and still might..I also had an idea to do cremation art but my stoooonad lazy ex wouldn't do anything I asked to make money.

Peeps do that..Put the cremains on canvas in the paint.....And they make all kinds of things with them. Even jewelry and glass.

So aynwhoooo not sure what it will be but it will
be a party and totally unconventional ala Andy Kaufman.

AND I have decided..it will have to be an all Elton
affair...I can't go without letting him know how
very much I love him and Bernie and how he has changed my little life.

In my heaven they play Elton all the time
OK..... I get a few non Elton days..'Cause in my heaven he needs a break as he is playing to me live and alone..... Bernie and I are making out rolleyes.gif

We would start with this.

This is my ex's art work most of which was done when we were together.....It's all very Daliesque inner demon dark stuff and him playing guitar
and singing too.

(His voice shines on other songs and I guess
I am still a fan even though.
I was his biggest for a long time wacko.gif )

I don't care as he put it on the you tube public page and will be very happy that peeps are looking at it as he is a true narcissist me me me musician artist dwelling in his weirdo head....He really went
weirdo the last few years.....oyyyy

He left me with bills..He turned on me after 10 years...... I do not love him anymore but I was so into the music and the art and he is very smart and I miss that part a lot......There were those harmonies..... We had a very nice 7 years.
The last three were hell.

Oh well he doesn't let any comments through
without approval so you can't write to him and say mean things...lol.....I've tried.

He actually could be wonderful
sometimes......and always on Saturdays.

Newbie here, but I hope this might help, if I'm not already too late.

How about some sauteed onions and garlic, deglaze the pan with either lemon/water or a nice dry white wine and some oregano, finish off with a few pats of butter for sheen? Simple, yet flavorful and won't funkify the Parm cheese.

I intro'd myself in another thread, but the long and short of it is:

I'm a home cook, work, married, a mom, love TC and liked reading here, so I signed on. Pleased to meet you. Good Luck with your, er um, balls.

I know this is a few pages back....but I am an hour from CP AI...it is the roller coaster capital...has the most in one park I think and usually have a record breaking one or 3...depending on the year. New ride every year...CP now runs most of the 6 Flags parks.

You have to try the famous fries when you get there

Get up this way and check it out!

Thanks, LD!

I went to the original Six Flags in Arlington as part of my first honeymoon. They had just opened the Texas Twister, and when the ride was done; my husband looked a little green, but I wanted to ride it again! laugh.gif

Why are the fries famous? Are they celebrity fries? cool.gif

Welcome to the boards,

Yes. Yes, I did. Fine, you found me out. I'm really a twelve year old boy trapped in a 30ish (I'm still ISH dammeet!) year old woman's mind.

Thank you for the welcome. smile.gif

Just in case some of you are violently rolling your eyes at the thought of putting something light and lemony with meatballs, I thought the same thing until my MIL taught me some of her Greek cooking.

The only thing different between what I suggested and avgolemono (lemon and egg sauce) is I omitted the eggs. I've only used that to give body to a particular soup using meatballs. Yet, I thought the premise of using the light acid and herbage would work well together.

I don't know why I feel the need to explain. I'm certainly not dealing with novices. However, I've more than a few friends turn pale at the mere mention of lemon or white wine paired with meatballs.

I apologize if I come across as patronizing. I trust you all will set me straight if need be. smile.gif

Please forgive a Newbie question, but is the Off Topic board the appropriate place to ask for recipes? I understand that this board could be for song or poem or random thought, but if it's food specific, does it matter if it's here?

I haven't found another appropriate place and I think the episodic threads are for discussion relating to the chefs and their dishes, no?

TIA for helping out a new gal. smile.gif

It's just one of those things ya have to do there...salt water taffy seems to be a must too. If you get tired you can go see a show...lot of young performers trying to make a start. They also have a water park. Depending where you are at in Cleveland area...you maybe less then an hour away.

Absolutely, Pita! The OT board is pretty much a free-for-all, so if it's recipes you're looking for, here would be the perfect place to lobby for them. I'm sure you'll get lots of great ideas too!

We used to go to Cedar Point every summer when I was growing up in Akron & Canton, and the rides (especially the coasters) were always the first things I made a dash for. I'm more a fan of the throw-you-around-in-your-seat-till-you're-black-and-blue wooden coasters than the smoother, more streamlined metal ones, but all coasters are beloved AFAIC.

We also used to go to Geauga Lake every summer, and I was really torn up to learn that GL closed its doors with last season, and will be selling its rides off to other parks. Sadly, I may never experience The Raging Wolf Bobs or The Texas Twister again. sad.gif

Oh good. Thank you.

Now you'll think I'm totally crazed in the brain and will want to boot me from the board, but I am in search of GOOD, low acidic recipes.

My boy (7) is about to undergo an upper GI series of tests. There is a family hx of esophageal problems on his Daddy's side and he has been dealing with a multitude of symptoms that suggest GERD (gastro esophageal reflux disease). He's 7 FFS. Yet, he's going for these tests and it most likely will determine a need of a dietary change, if only temporarily ( a couple of years until he physically matures).

I don't know how to cook without onions, garlic, tomatoes, vinegar, citrus or spices.

I was looking for veg ideas, specifically ones that might be low on the acidic scale or some meat/fish entree that would would be low on the spice spectrum. Yes, I'm scouring a certain other Network for recipes. Yes, I'm goo-goo-ing GERD boards. Recipes or alternatives to "normal" dishes are proving hard to find.

I know this is probably a long shot, but thougt I'd give it a try. I've already decided I'd make my regular meals, but take out portions for DS and not over season or dress the ingredients in anything that might aggravate his symptoms.

If any of you have any suggestions, they will be greatly appreciated.

I don't know much about the meaning of jade except that it is supposed to bring luck
. biggrin.gif

THE JADE WITH A LITTLE WHITE IS ALWAYS THE BEST

FOR ME ANYWAYS................

THE GREEN WILL SPREAD THROUGH OUT

THE MORE YOU WEAR IT OR KEEP IT CLOSE TO YOUR PERSON

biggrin.gif

I HAVE A JADE RING MY MOM GAVE ME SEVERAL YEARS AGO........

ALSO NOT "IMPERIAL" GRADE AT THE TIME

BUT.........

I'VE SEEN THE COLOR DEEPEN FROM THE FIRST TIME

SHE GAVE IT TO ME

THE COLOR NOW VERY CLOSE TO BEING OF THE HIGHER QUALITY

ALSO A VERY CHUBBY , HAPPY BUDDA PENDANT,

HAVE TO SAY HE HAS A GREAT FACE, AND PROTRUDING BELLY

BOUGHT THAT ONE FOR MYSELF biggrin.gif

TOO COOL TO PASS UP LOL

THERE WAS A JEWELRY STORE HERE THAT HAD

A REALLY NICE "IMPERIAL" JADE BUTTERFLY

NICE SIZE . EXCELLENT QUALITY

BUT IT WAS

ADORNED WITH BAGGUETS AROUND THE PERIMITER

TO INFLATE THE COST OF THE PENDANT

PERHAPS IF THE DAIMONDS WERE PLACED IN A MORE

ARTISTIC MANNER ..................

BUT THEY WEREN'T ....SO I PASSED ON IT biggrin.gif

BUT HEY NOTE

KEEP THAT PIECE CLOSE TO YOU ALWAYS

THE COLOR WILL DEEPEN

THE BEAUTY IS UNDESCRIBABLE biggrin.gif

I DON'T KNOW HOW THEY DO IT

BUT THE TORONAGASHI SEEMS TO ALWAYS GO ON

WITHOUT A HITCH..............(KNOCK ON WOOD)

WITH LIGHT BREEZES TO PUSH THE LANTERNS ALONG

THE GLIMMER OF THE CANDLES SPARKLE ON THE

RIPPLING WATER'S CALM

I HIGHLY RECOMEND IT .....................

AS SOMEHOW IT GIVES AN UNEXPLAINABLE

FEELING OF SPIRITUAL PEACE biggrin.gif

I love jade too. My favorite necklace had a silver charm with a blood jade and another charm with my Chinese zodiac symbol, dog.

biggrin.gif

BLOOD JADE ?? LADY BRILL

DO YOU KNOW HOW RARE THAT IS???

WOW

NOW I'M A BIT JADED wink.gif laugh.gif

IT'S SO VERY HARD TO FIND GOOD AUTHENTIC PIECES

MY AUNT TAUGHT US HOW TO SEE IF IT'S REAL

OR INJECTED......

IF YOU'RE IN THE MARKET TO PURCHASE MORE JADE PIECES

SHE SAID ......WHEN YOU DO GO TO SHOP

CARRY ONE OF THOSE SMALL BOTTLES WITH AN EYE DROPPER

WITH WATER IN IT

PUT A SMALL DROP OF WATER ON A FLAT SURFACE

OF THE GEM

USUALLY THE BACK .....WHERE IT SHOULD BE EXPOSED

THE WATER SHOULD BEAD

IF THE WATER GOES FLAT ON THE EDGES IT IS A GOOD CHANCE IT'S FAKE

ANOTHER THING TO WATCH FOR IS

THE COVERING OF THE BACK MOUNT

AS THE CLARITY CANNOT BE DETERMINED IF IT IS

HECK WHAT CAN I SAY

I'M REEEEEEEEEAAAAAL PICKY WHEN IT COMES TO JADE biggrin.gif

You guys won't believe it but I spent most of yesterday reading your posts and trying to get an Avatar. Was very amused by the posts but very unsuccessful with the Avatar. Had trouble sleeping last night so gave the Avatar thing another try (after all, KristlKrost has one that even sparkles, I should be able to get one that just sits there!) and, ta-da I have an Avatar!!! I know, no big deal to you pros, but I have only been at this stuff for less than a month, great big deal for me!

As you all will get to know, computers are not the only thing I know almost nothing about, I also (real confession time here) know squat about cooking! I'm always willing to learn new things though, so hope to learn much from the show and you all. To be honest, when the cheftestants describe what they have made, most of it is greek to me. And will someone please tell me what miso is? I hear so much about it but have never heard of the stuff before (I take it that it is sweet?) blink.gif

BTW NiCi, that is a SUPER FINE avatar, IMHO. Yum

That's cuz you don't live in produnkville. Hell, they knew my name before I even moved in. Pros and Cons to everything baby. It was only 2, so they weren't drunk...................yet.
I'm to the point now, if I show up on a Sunday afternoon empty-handed, I'm almost shamed to the point to go home and fix them something. Sometimes, I tell them tough. Have a pizza.
