I've seen things that would make your beautiful straight Helen Crump hair curl...And I 'v even done things myself that would in retaliation to crazy.

She's part of the luscious email attacks and she loves it...She actually has told me thank you for letting me be part of it as we really do have a raucous rowdy time.

I have witnessed cruelty to others so bad I had to speak up and then Lawd have mercy....I was afraid to at first....I was......but I did.

How many peeps have left these board because
of it.........How many good peeps????
And how many really care???....I do...I care.

A gang mentality exists here so disgusting the gangs in East LA got nothing on them.

Last night The Caps lost 3-2 in overtime. Denny was disappointed, until I pointed out that they started out awfully, and, since then, they've given him a lot to smile at.

There's always next year, and who knows, if he doesn't out grow it, and that's doubtful as he's growing like a weed, he'll have his Ovechkin jersey to wear to the games. You gotta have faith.

I'm taking my little buddy, Matt, to the Nationals game on Friday, and I'll take Denny with us. He likes Matt, and it'll be good to take his mind off of a "could have been" and put it on a "no freaking way". We're baseball guys, though, and, as I said, you gotta have faith.

I was just reading that Chad Cordero may be lost for the season. I've been watching Chad religiously since the Nationals got here, and he's a favorite in our house. Last year he was nice enough to talk to Denny for a few minutes, and he signed his baseball glove, so I know Denny will be sad to see his pal won't be going out there for the 9th inning.

I know I got to talk to Nick Johnson for a bit when the Nationals first got here, and last year watching him in the dugout when he could not play was hard. He was the one who got Denny access to Cordero, though, and that's one of the great things about having a relationship with your home team.

Would I say that Nick is a friend? No, but I'm a fan, and he's respectful enough to know without his fans there is no team. I'll be at the game, and I'll go down and say hello. He will be just as gracious as he always is, and that's enough. This is why I love sports; The players who are atune enough to know what the sport is all about, and that's the fans.

This post wasn't really "about" anything in particular. It's just a thought on why sports mean something to my family and I.

I miss Hungry, as well. We got off to a bad start, but I find he's an exceptionally nice young man, and talented as well, so we became board buddies.

Maybe he'll come back one day, though I really have no idea what his incentive would be.

And "black and white" to me means binary . . . on/off, good/bad, up/down, left/right . . . without shades.

So, I appreciate your comments very much, and will try to take future posts in mind of these definitions.

Ok my fellow inmates...

...In like the next 10 days, things are gonna get really wierd for me...My Parental units will return to their "domicile"...I will again assume the roll of (subserviant) "dutiful" son...I won't be as free(or have as much time) to post...We have discussed the fact that I'm a "care giver" before...
And since said "Parental Units" will be selling said domicile...I'm gonna have to move out..."gulp"...(at my advanced age-look at my name do the math)
Good thing I like dim light...'cause I'm lookin' at oil lamps to help cut down my future electric bills...
I've got a "bead" on a couple of very low income rental units...Close enough to work that I would almost eliminate transportation costs...
I'm going to have to eliminate my whole "entertainment" budget...(that includes the internet)...At least for a while...
Thing is I KNOW I suffer from PPS...So please those of you who do; please pray for me; the rest of you please think well of me ok?...

When I was in college,for the longest time I lived on macaronni, cooked in coffee pot, with a stick of butter, and a can of chicken al a king...'course that was when you could buy a box of mac for like .25, you could buy 1 stick of butter, and many canned dishes cost less then .75...My whole daily meal cost like $1.50...Mac and Dinty Moore, beef stew rocked...As did Tuna, and Peas...

experience? 3000 posts over four+ years but none on Top Chef before 5 months ago. I am primarily a Project Runway poster.
definition? no, just my impression at the time..
Now that we have Spring here in Massachusetts, I won't be posting much, but I hope to read your posts on the swan-song summer season of Project Runway on Bravo.
I have to say, Helen, that Top Chef has been a disappointment to me. Many of the posts here are more amusing and informative than the show itself. I have a collection of SimonBao posts and references in my kitchen with the cookbooks, including Ted Allen's!
I wasn't around for any of the big Top Chef controversies but I can't bring myself to care about any of it. I have been around for other controversies, but internet drama is all some people have, and so I leave it to those with the interest in maintaining it season to season. I agree with Justme that it is sometimes amusing how much time and energy some people devote to maintaining an internet persona. I don't see how peeps can make an average of 30 to 60 posts a day and maintain a quality life in the real world, but hey.. when I become perfect and hell freezes over, then maybe I will understand.

For what it's worth, I think the judge's favorites are Richard, Stephanie, Antonia, and the producers want a woman to win for a change.
I like Mark and Dale also. Mark has to be a little more like Dale and vice versa.

I'm certainly too new to know what to think one way or the other. But knowing a thing or two about devastating loss, I do know that seeking and receiving support is invaluable.

I also know some are more comfortable using this type of venue to express themselves. For whatever reason, direct, personal contact may seem too overwhelming, particularly after a traumatic, emotional event.

I'm obviously missing a lot of details and there is no reason I should be privy to them. Unless I see something blatantly mean and inflammatory, I try to extend my internet ear to listen and shoulder to cry on.

I'm sorry for your loss KK. *hugs*

Ok, I need an opinion or two or three. Chocolate covered strawberries. Warm dipping sauce or dipped ahead of time with the chocolate that hardens? Minds out of the gutters. You know which ones of you of which I speak.

My experience has lead me to making shortly before the moment of service. Predipped and set in a fridge, get all the condensation and a "grittiness" or "off" taste to the chocolate.

Predipped the day of and set on a counter. Fine.

I like to engage my guests (if you have the casual availability to allow this) and the good ol' fondue style of self skewering and dipping has always been a hit.

What sort of occasion are you talking about? Casual get together? Bridal shower? Romantic evening for two?

C'mon. Inquiring Chocolaholic minds want to know.

Aren't you the sweetest thing??
I'm ok but my birthday...my first one without her sent me missing her.

I took care of her for 7 years.
Tis a hard one..... And I miss her very much.
We all shared here when mum died and many of us have known each other for a very long time and it was a beautiful thing really.
Many share their pain and sorrow and joys here.....And we all rally.

But I've got a big fat circle of friends and family if I need them....But you are a sweetheart

How much time do you have?

What other foods are you serving (I'm thinking in terms of if the berries can wait until last moment/night before)?

If you can push them until the night before, or better yet- the morning of, they should be fine dipped and left to set. Berries aren't normally refridgerated anyway. The chocolate (you'll have to fill me in as to what you are using), tempered properly *should* hold up, hardened until the event.

Crickets! I haven't done a catering event since I was in college.
Oy. That hurt. *cries*
