Thanks , I am nervous about it but I did quit before. Many years ago just went cold turkey and stopped for 3 years, but then like the addict I am I thought I could have just one and that was it. It's been 28 years since then and I am ready. The patch has worked all night for me so Friday when I get out of work at 6:30 am , no more smokes. It's been a long time comin.

I don't know about you, but when I saw this off topic board I was so f*cking happy, because I could talk about the movies and plays I was seeing, the new music I was listening to, and the baseball games that are such a big part of my social life.

Bear over the past two years being on this board I'd say you get a heck of alot of love.... from me and alot of people. I have even called you when you were going through a tuff time because of my Love for you.. I was concerned as one human being to another... if that is not love I do not then know the meaning of the word.

My name is Travis, and I'm a filmmaker from Michigan.

I LOVE Top Chef with a passion, and also love cooking (my 4 passions in life are filmmaking, writting, cooking, and singing).

I was wondering if anybody else here is auditioning for Season 5? I am! I've got the paperwork all done, I just need to do my video (which is easy for me), and figure out what to cook in the video. I'm just wondering what you think I should cook for it? Something simple but extremely tastey.... or something complex and fancy? My mom wants me to do one of my more complicated dishes... my girlfriend wants me to do one of my simpler ones. I'm kindof leaning toward the easy one because I think most people who try out are going to be trying to show off with fancy dishes that look amazing.... and so I'm thinking I should do something that's simple, tastes great, and is somewhat original.

Your thoughts?

I can remember listening on the radio to Dr Demento as he played the different Python skits( along with Firesign Theatre , Tom Lehrer and others) and just dying. Then when the Flying Circus started to be televised here it became a "must see "each week. I can almost quote the Parrot sketch and the Lumberjack song... Welcome and good luck with the auditions! I recommend cooking something simple with a small number of local/seasonal ingredients. The "prevailing winds" are such that a chef shouldn't need gadgets, tricks or a mountain of ingredients to create bold and unique "flavor profiles" for a dish. Show some flair and explain what you are doing.
