This story won't help you at all but here goes anyway. Years ago I had a female Siamese, not fixed and when she went into heat the whole neighborhood knew it---and she was an indoor cat. I had a friend (another warped individual) that offered to nail a Vix Inhaler to a table leg for her!!! (I told ya he was warped!!!)

Yeah, that is kind of warped and would be (hhmm, how to put it as delicately as possible) the opposite of throwing a hot dog down a hallway.

Also being a bit warped myself, I'm hoping her "brother" will give her some action. That might be the best for both of them!

You know that old addage about Dads locking their daughters in their rooms until they turn 30? Yeah. Keep kitty away from the outdoors. Make sure windows and doors are closed. The pheromones they produce are wicked strong. Any male cats in the area will know and might go so far as to mark your door, trees, car tires, anything. That spray is truly horrible. Had one spray me in the car on the way to his neutering appointment. Took weeks to get that smell out of the plush interior of the car... Try Purina website for help and links.
Also, keep a damp towel around for any um accidents. And try your local SPCA, like KK mentioned. Sometimes they'll have a list of places that offer a reduced rate.

The accidents may be a bit of spotting.. sorry not trying to be crude... I remember my dog when I was young running around the house in a pair of my brothers old yellow swim shorts (speedo type) with a hole cut out for her tail. My brother and I thought it was just something funny not the precautionary measure my mom took when the dog went into heat...
Oh, it is impossible to get out that smell. The Speedo idea is a great one (however amusing it may seem). Unfortunately, given my "voluptuousness", it would be easier for me to fashion a tent from mine and sequester her in it for the duration!

I'm feeling a little sentimental about Mother's Day coming up. Kinda bittersweet for me as I lost my own mother around Mother's Day.
I'd like to celebrate and acknowledge the people here that don't fit the *traditional* profile of *Mother*. You don't have to have given birth or even be a woman to live a "mothering life". If you love, care for, nurture and mentor----anyone, not just young children---you fall into my definition of Mother. So I'd like to wish everyone here a Happy Mother's Day early!
Thanks Rady, it is very thoughtful and kind of you to think of this. I'm not sure how many of us there are out there, but Mother's Day can be a bit tough (especially for those of us who wanted to be a mother and for whatever reason did not become one). It is a time we can take to recommit to investing our lives into the lives of others instead of dwelling on the fact that we do not have children. Thanks for the reminder and the sweet wish!

I hope I get some responses to this. cause I need help and this is way off topic.
I've been up since midnite with my doggy. He's 11 years old and has skin allergies. He has been scratching and nawing and licking all night long. I give him bathes every other day, give him benedryl and hot spot medicine. Prednizone used to work, but because of early stage renal failure, the vet doesn't want to give him that anymore. He has open sore that I keep put triple antibody cream on, but nothing helps. Any suggestions? I can't stand to see my doggy suffer like this.
I am NOT a vet...only an animal lover. My beloved Westie was on prednisone all her life for skin problems. Died at age 11 of kidney failure.
I now have a rescue schnoodle who seems to have allergies/skin problems as well. Our vet has prescribed temaril-p 1/2 to 1 tablet a day for itching. It seems to help a good bit. Now our 2 year old puppy sleeps happily through the night. There is still a little bit of nibbling and scratching but not much. He used to keep us up all night.
I spoke with another animal lover and she recommended Organix dog food, coconut oil, and MSM. We recently bought Organix but have no results to report. Have not tried the other items at this point.

To answer all questions at once, here:
1) I would not want to burn the Youtube version, as it is a low-quality, low-res 18MB WMV file. What I'd put on DVD is the High-quality AVI file that is slightly over 1GB.
2) the size of the good file also means I can't really e-mail it!
3) the error is a "run error". It keeps going "Burn Failed due to a run error. We've saved...blahblahblah... info that might be useful in figuring out the problem, would you like to save?" I took a look at the "blahblahblah" file and it's basically about 8 pages long of syntax that I don't understand because I'm not a comp. geek.
4) I only know 3 other people with DVD burners. One lives 2 hours away. One only lives 45 minutes away but is out of town for the weekend. One lives 30 minutes away but is at work and won't answer his phone.
5) I can't wait until Monday because I'm leaving on Sunday to go up to Kalkaska to be a camp counselor for the summer! I therefore need to mail stuff out tomorrow morning at the LATEST, as I won't be around after that.
6) I know the sound sucks, but I honestly don't care at this point! It's not one of my films, so it doesn't bother me so much... and I suck ASS at fixing audio problems other than J-cuts and L-cuts. I generally have someone else edit audio for my films.

"Speed Racer" finally reached theaters today.
I've been a big fan of the Wachowski brothers since I saw "Bound" many years ago. I thought it was smart, funny, and exciting. Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly were hot as all get out, and I looked forward to more.
When "The Matrix" came out I was in love. This was the film that I dragged anybody I came into contact with, who hadn't seen it, to. It didn't even bother me when "Reloaded" and "Revolutions" left me baffled. I totally bought them while I was watching them, and I own all three films on DVD. I still watch them.
The brothers then took a back seat to James McTeague for "V for Vendetta". They wrote the film, and it had their fingerprints all over it. The direction may not have been as good, but it was still spectacular, and captured the essense of the graphic novel.
Today I took my bestest of best buddies, Denny, out of school so we could go to the first show of "Speed Racer". Walking out of the film, at the end, he said "that was really bad and you owe me a good film."
He was understating it. This film is a waste of great visual techniques, and, since the technique is the only thing there, it's not even enjoyable. It's nice to see John Goodman and Susan Sarandon (as Speed's parents), Christina Ricci (Trixie, a role she was made for) and, even Mathew Fox, as the mysterious X Racer. Too bad they aren't good in a good film.
I couldn't tell if the role was badly written, or Emile Hirsch is a bad actor, but there is a hole in the middle of this film large enough to drive a fleet of Mack trucks through. I've never been less interested in a star of a major Hollywood film. He's not even good to look at.
Do not go to this film. Warn your friends. And, if you suffer from motion sickness, I suggest you don't even enter the local multiplex that it's playing in. So far this is 2008's worst film, hands down.

I'm aware that both those films opened to great notices, but, to be honest with you, I never had any interest in seeing another "coming of age" film, and Drew's response to them was, "this is why we have Netflix. They will be the same films in three months".
I did read bits and pieces of the book that "Into the Wild" came from, and if I had seen either film, that would have been the one. Interestingly enough, while they have both been available, we've not seen either. I looked and they're not even on our list.
It seemed as if Hirsch had gotten his pages for the film right before they filmed. He never seems comfortable, and his work with Ricci, one of our finest young actresses, is embarassing. his work with Goodman and Sarandon is even worse, and we won't speak of the total disconnect between Hirsh and Fox, though Fox seems ready to go.
I know there are people out there who will still see this film, even after reading this. Fine. Just don't come to me and say you weren't warned. I've already wasted my cash, and, no matter how much you try, you can't polish a turd. It doesn't work that way.
