I wonder if Andrew knows he has ADD?

He has all the positives such as honesty - what you see is what you get - caring - creative - smart as well as the negatives - doesn't here the "little details" - quick temper - excessive talking -etc.........

sigh I'm gonna miss him he was fun!

I'm back in town after flying to Nebraska for a nephew's wedding on Sunday. I finally got through the backlog of "Wedding Wars" posts (though sometimes I got confused and thought I might be on the OT board). Now, I'm finally trying to wade through the OT board itself.

Regarding Mother's Day, because the wedding was on Mother's Day, and all my siblings and their spouses attended along with Partner and me, it was the first time that all of us had been together with my mother on Mother's Day, since I moved east in fall 1977. Although the focus of the day was the wedding, my mother was also ecstatic to have us all together on "her" day.

HOw nice. That sounds wonderful.

Oddly enough, I am way left of most conversations - not this one!

What would Jesus do? I think he would cry over how whiney and self-serving many members of our society have become. He would help if help was deserved and/or honestly requested. He would "call out" those who have the means to help themselves but don't.

As far as bringing children into the world, there is always a choice - condom, abortion or ABSTINANCE. PERIOD! EOD. Crack house or not. I hate that women have to bear the brunt of this, but they do. I cannot carry a child. I can be told to keep my privates out of your privates. IT SUCKS. With great power comes great responsibility. I am not saying that there is an easy answer.

I agree with you about lazy whiny gits.

I do but what about the peeps who aren't.
Those who really are vicitms of terrible abuse and neglect and abandonment and worse.

How can you know what that woud be like and how we would handle it??

Jazzie rose above..Many peeps have.
But what about the ones who can't????
Even peeps like Lisa and Dale.
They probably don't even know they have a problem ..They will now lol

And therein lies the distinction.
Without help I belleve that many can't.
They don't even have the basic tools to do so.
I have seen and dealt with it for many years in many ways..Should they NOT have babies???
Of course they shouldn't but I
worked in and around the ghetto for years.
And every young black chick there thought it was cool to have more babies....It was the cool thing to do..I used to say what are you doing???
Are you crazy???
That's why I only have one child ..by choice.

So what do we do???
We who know better must reach out and help
because it won't go away on it's own.
It just wont and it hasn't without education.

And that takes money... And politicians do not care about the inner citty... a proven fact.
I tell my aunt.... you may not want to pay for education for prisoners but you better.
Because it will never end.

Never... unless we do something...Like it or
not...I don't think Jesus would do that as
you say as he didn't then...He would love them and show them the way...He would teach them how to fish.

BUT you have to remember..I am a serious leftster...lol

I believe in tearing down our govt.
and starting all over with true real
socialism...Everyone working for a common goal and those who don't work we teach to.
And if they won't work they get nothing.
And everyone helping one another as the
Amish do...We have to take care of each other..We must because we are falling apart.
We made this mess...We could change it all.

That's Nuthin!

My father wouldn't allow a boob tube in the house until I was in high school and then only because we "inherited" a seven incher from a deceased family friend (run with that one, psh). We were the last family on the block!

Our only glimpse of Sid Ceasar, Imogine Coca and Bishop Sheen was through the plate glass window of the local hardware store.

A seven incher - I do remember that was my first contact with television - it was 1948 and we were visting a friend. Their tv was a big box - must have been 3'x3'x3' with the 7 inch screen in front of the box. Everything was tubes back then.

Sid Caesar and Imogine Coca - your Show of Shows.

I aint touchin' the "7-incher" comment with anyone's ten foot pole, but ...

I used to watch UHF reruns of Your Show Of Shows at my grandparents' house every weekend (along with Space: 1999, Star Trek and The Wild Wild West) when I was little. I was actually watching YSOS when they announced Elvis Presley's death in '77, and to this day the show and Elvis' death are synonymous for me.

bJason....thanks for your concern, I understand what you mean. But, I brought myself into this context on the other thread a few posts back, so it's OK.

Actually, I think I'm the one that got this whole thing rolling by saying that, ultimately, I believe we make a choice in how we handle our life....the good the bad and the ugly of it. I've made no secret (though haven't made a big deal out of it either) that I had serious abuse issues growing up. I think many more of us are out here than people may want to admit. My point, going back to the initial conversation, is that as an adult, I firmly believe we have choices to make. Even if you are brought up that way....example..my hubby was raised by a variety of angry women (mom, aunt) and some not so great step-dads. He was brought up with the hit and hurt method. He chose not to parent our son that way. He chose to move beyond what hurt him as a child and be the parent he would have preferred having. Does he succeed? Mostly.
Is our son more aware of what kind of choices he as an individual has? Without a doubt. There's a fine line between being led and making a choice. No one else can do that for you. Even being led by your *whatever* is a choice. SO.....before I fall completely off the soapbox, I'd best finish up fixing dinner. Homemade honey-cornbread, dejavu meatloaf (leftovers incorporated into it LOL) mashed taters and green beans. Care to join us? Always enough to go around in the JazzieP'Zazzie household!

I know how you worry about per centages.

Thank GAWD I am bad in math.

2008 Tax Code
The only thing that the IRS has not taxed yet is the male penis.
This is due to the fact that 69% of the time it is hanging around unemployed,
10% of the time it is hard up,
20% of the time it is pissed off
and 1% of the time it is in the hole.
On top of that, it has two dependents, and they are both nuts
HOWEVER,
effective January 1st, 2008, the penis will now be taxed according to size.
The brackets are as follows:
10 - 12" Luxury Tax $300.00
8 - 10" Pole Tax $250.00
5 - 8" Privilege Tax $150.00
3 - 5" Nuisance Tax $30.00
Males exceeding 12" must file capital gains.
Anyone under 4" is eligible for a tax refund.
PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR AN EXTENSION

HEY where'm I gonna get $250... tongue.gif ...

Elgar can be thoughtful and complex (Enigma Variations) at best and yet sometimes unintentionally pompous in the English Victorian style (a la Pomp 'n' Circumstance Marches). I must admit I'm not familiar with the Hollberg Suite but while the composer was fairly prolific in the English Romantic genre and popular in his lifetime much of his work is underplayed today.

I have always enjoyed Richard Roger's Victory at Sea immensely. That being said, like many contemporary musical comedy and film composers when he tries his hand at "serious" music he often lapses into the British Romantic style rather than forging ahead in a more adventuresome mode. I am not surprised that you should point out similarities between Rogers' and Elgar's work.

Incidentally, I find Elgar's life story fascinating. If you're not familiar with it I recommend it to you.

I most certainly didn't misattribute the Holberg Suite. Grieg wrote it, but the post I was answering credited it to Elgar. Elgar never wrote anything with the name "Holberg" in it.

*sad sigh* I have nothing to contribute to the music discussion. I know how to listen to a radio and that's about the beginning and end of my musical abilities. sad.gif

My son had an endoscopy done this morning and thankfully everything looks good. Medication will only be on an as needed basis and he's allowed to self-regulate what types of food he feels comfortable eating, as there seems to be no one trigger food.

I didn't share too much about it (mostly out of stupid selfish worry). However, in relation to food, I was really struggling with things to make for him. The usual suspects that trigger acid reflux and esophageal problems are tomatoes, citrus, vinegars, onions, garlic and chocolate.
Imagine getting that list of No-No foods!

I didn't know how to cook for the last three weeks. I was afraid the poor kid was doomed to a life of boiled chicken and rice. But now, I can slowly add in an ingredient a week and see what bothers him and what doesn't. If this kid can't eat onions or garlic, I may cry.

In all seriousness, these past few weeks have tested my creative culinary skills. I have a great appreciation for the CTs and coming up with some spectacular dishes, stone cold. I'm on a mission now. I'm going to see how many substitutions I can come up with for my normal meals.

What's a good substitution for garlic? wacko.gif

I'm willing as long as I can have viola instead of a harp! Peace, Supe!

Sad to say Pita. I don't think there is such a thing as a good sub for garlic. Poor kid.

PS. KK, ready for another double. Spicy salt on the rim. Lime twist-forgot that last time-me, not you-NOTHING on the side.

My contribution to the Musical Peace Pipe.....I wanted to link to my personal favorite, Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky, expecially the last two movements, but my browser is not allowing me to copy the link????!!!

So, I will simply say that the whole piece is wonderful listening, but as a musician....the last two movements, to me, still rate as the most challengingly difficult and FUN pieces of music for a low woodwinds player such as myself!

Ok Super, I know you've probably listened to both the Victory at Sea, suite (Eric Kunzle's, version is really very good-if commercial) and Edward Elgars, Hollberg suite...Am I wrong or was Richard Rogers, influanced by the Elgar piece...There is a part of the "horseplay" seg in VAS, that is almost a direct "riff" of the Hollberg suite...
I know that all this falls into that "grey" area of "You Gay, dudes aren't supposed to like that(been discussed before)But VAS is one of my fave shows of all time...IMHAO the it should be like on the History Channel every day...VAS RULES!!!... laugh.gif ...

((((PIta))))) Had endoscopy myself years ago.....still makes me shudder. Don't know what to say on the substitute for garlic. Is it all garlic, or just fresh? If it seems to be just fresh, can you use a very light dash of garlic powder? You also might try looking at some of the recipes for post-bariatric patients, since you will probably be doing slow and easy food add ons. Besides cutting down on acid, you may want to initially use a blender or fp to make things easier to digest. Don't know if that helps, but you've got our support!

Chicken salad! I think so since we have a heat wave going out here. No grapes in the salad, though, I just put the last of our grapes in the dehydrator to make raisins LOL! Besides, my guys like my curried chicken salad, so that's what we shall have here.....maybe with some raw veggies (not mushy cukes or dried up carrots LOL) but sliced roma maters, onions, shrooms and sliced napa cabbage. Ummmm......will pick up pita bread and ummmm! Geez, now I gotta go to the store for stuff! So much for cleaning out the fridge LOL!

I'm putting on my fun (don't give me a hard time, all you classical music fans) favorite CD.....Pirates of the Carribean at World's End! Great music just for a lazy hot day!
M'waaaaaaa
Later!

Thank you Jazzie and Tula wink.gif .

Although my comment about garlic subs was a little jokesy, it really is hard to imagine what to do in any particular recipe calling for it.

Another point of investigation, not related to food, is the size of his tonsils. Holy Honking Big Walnuts Batman! I'm not one to look down my kids' throats on a regular basis, only if they say they have a sore throat. But these suckers are ginormous.

So, there may be two parts to this issue: mild acid reflux and partial tonsil obstruction (that causes him to swallow repeatedly, swallowing air, causing back-up/burping, etc. yadda, yadda, yadda).

It's a might tricky figuring if the problem is soley food item related or a combo of food and getting it down.

Now, what to do about tomatoes? Well, I already know Spike's answer to tomatoes. *violent rolleyes*
