While Harrison Ford is certainly not a second-rate actor, he is a bit like John Wayne in that Harrison Ford is Harrison Ford no matter what movie he is in. For sure he is not in the same category as a Tom Hanks or a Dustin Hoffman.

True enough. You do pretty much know in advance what you're getting with a Ford flick, but sometimes, at least for me, that's not a bad thing. Blade Runner will forever be one of my favorite films.

Scruffy looking nerfherder that he is, have you seen Ford's chest-waxing video spot for the rainforests?

I'll probably catch hell from someone who hated it, but I have to say I loved it! I'm a die-hard Indy fan, and while 4 wasn't as "whipcrack" as the first three (especially Raiders), I thought it was a more than admirable effort that did the franchise pretty darn proud.

I hope you and Jen enjoy it!

We are taking Chase to see it tomorrow. I cant wait to see it because my guy Ray Winstone is in it.

On a side note,Fido was running around today and I had to do a double take. He really needs to get to the groomers for a trim but weve just been too busy. Well,I looked down and his hair looked just like the lead singer in Flock Of Seagulls. Picture this with a Yorkies face,

Plus,I got that song,I Ran,stuck in my head!

I just popped in here for a minute or two. I had made plans months ahead to take my little buddy, Matt, to see the Nationals play the Brewers last night. The Nationals won, and we had a great time, but that's not really why I am making this post.

I picked Matt up early in the day and asked him what he wanted to do. He replied that he wanted to see "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", and, while some of the reviews have been iffy, I have to say that we both loved it. The script was tight, it was wonderful to see Ford and Karen Allen again, and the supporting cast was delightful.

Shia LaBeouf was a smart move, and the tandom of Cate Blanchett and the ever sexy, ever delightful, Ray Winstone (WOOF!!) was a definite plus. Yes, it's a popcorn film, but it's a damn fine one, and I would recommend it to anyone who got pleasure from the first three films. It's a corker, and if "Iron Man" hadn't already come out, I would call it the film of the summer season.

But, if you don't like that sort of thing then, by all means, stay away. Those of us who do won't have to listen to you whine, and that's a good thing.

wub.gif Loved this movie so much...Jen and I and the entire audience just laughed and cheered... Great one liners and Harrison Ford was great as well as the supporting cast. AHHHHH having Karen Allen back was great as well. What a fun movie..... saw the previews for The Dark Knight I can't wait for that one as well..... rolleyes.gif

BLOGS AND BLOGGERS :
People use Blog sites in a myriad of ways. There is no standard way to use it. There isn't a rule book about the proper use. Most Bloggers issue statements concerning political views (Politico.com) and reference alternative sites focused on community service or a venue for opinionated diatribe. Most of us even ignore the question "What are you doing?" most of the time. Because blogging is an evolving community it can be complicated to determine whether a specific behavior is appropriate or not but you can find behavior and usage patterns emerging. Many bloggers are seeking friendships, although this is unfortunate for those looking to discuss issues. A cabal of sorts ensue and life's petty issues enter the blog-0-sphere. Recently, a co-editor entered the Bravo TV site in order to review "Top Chef" for article conveyance. Clearly, many bloggers are somewhat lonely, and form an odd and pathetic family of sorts. Sad because one has no idea with whom they are communicating, and some go as far as indicating "love" or "love ya". Sad, but true!!!

Earlier on the bloggers (using PollDaddy's nifty poll feature) I posted a poll asking "Is it okay to Blog and love? How long should someone remain on one Blog"?
The responses have varied but most people find that those that blog about a show for over a month are "lonely and pathetic " and seeking something that they are missing in "Unvirtual life". The poll found that 97% percent do not blog regularly. If they do blog, they do so for a day or two. Those that remain on blogs for weeks, or even months may find that they are socializing less in the real world. They are "disconnected" according to John Fries, Professor of psychology, Des Moines. " There are many people who are very lonely and hoping to connect online. Some of these users of blogs truly believe that the other bloggers are friends. This is concerning" The disconnect is becoming alarming, as the social strata is seeing more of these individuals lost in a virtual setting, seeking invisible friends beyond the keyboard.

I'm snagging on this specific post as an excuse to report that tonight I watched "Hairspray" (the musical) on DVD. I was prepared not to like it.. fortunately , I loved it. Maybe not the best musical ever written but very upbeat and very entertaining. I thought Queen Latifa was fantastic... the song she did during the protest march was as good as it gets.

PHEW! I'm so tired....just spent three hours at the emergency vet with my son's cat. He (the cat) had that male blockage problem and we nearly lost him! Good news is, the cat is home and going to his regular vet tomorrow. Blockage is cleared, but the cat, well, my son just came and informed me,
"Mom, my cat is stoned. What do I do with a stoned cat?" Oh well, maybe you had to be there.

Gonna take a jazzie-nap this afternoon for sure!

Well Jazzie,

We've had the privilege of dealing with a stoned cat - not once but twice because the cat woulndn't behave to get his stitches out! Keep the cat off the bed - not pretty when kitty tries to jump off! ohmy.gif huh.gif

All I can say is "enjoy" it as your poor cat stumbles along while the meds wear off (the poor kitty). Ours looked liked your stereotypical drunk Irishman walking down the hall and sounded like one, too! wacko.gif (Image of Uncle Billy in It's A Wonderful Life come to mind)

I am so sorry your cat had this misfortune, but I giggle in empathy and in "been there, done that, sorry you have to go there as well"! (t-shirt is in the mail - look for it sometime in Juvember) happy.gif

When my first cat, Pinocchio, came back from being neutered he was the same drunk Irishman you described. He'd sway back and forth unsteadily, and you could see he was plotting a course from point "A" to point "B." When he put his paws in motion he'd veer off course for a few steps, stop disgustedly, aim his head in the correct direction and expect his legs to take him there. Naturally they did the exact opposite. It was amusing and pathetic all at the same time.

KD....thanks so much. This was hard because this cat is young, about 4, and he and my 15 year old son are very attached. My kidlet sat through the whole thing with me. Because of the holiday we had to go to an emgency animal hospital about 12 miles away.....and we couldn't afford the full treatment they wanted to give him (900-1300$$$!) so we had him unblocked, and we will go to our regular vet for the follow up. I'm still tired from it all!

I loved the film of "Hairspray", though I would have liked them to keep Harvey Fierstein in the cast, as John Travolta, as good as he was, seemed like a casting "stunt", and he threw me out of the film at times. The play seemed like something that would be good on stage, and, on film, less successful. They made it work, and that says a lot for the folks behind the camera.

Unlike, say, "The Producers", for instance, it doesn't do a DOA. That's commendable and, unlike the excellent "Sweeney Todd", it doesn't jettison the stage production. Interesting. The cast album of "Hairspray" is great fun, and "Sweeney Todd" is dead on CD, without the visuals.

I don't really want to see Tim Burton make another film musical, whereas I would love to see Adam Shankman do another. Maybe that's because he also did the choreography (though Susan Strohman did both on "The Producers", with far less success), so he protects his dance numbers, and that carries through to the rest of the film. It just moves beautifully; something one can't say for Burton's "Sweeney Todd".

As much as I'm a Gene Kelly fanatic I've always had problems with "An American in Paris". Don't get me wrong, as it's a great film, but it's always left me wanting more.

Oscar LeVant (like the beautiful, talented Kay Thompsan, they always elevate anything they touch.) is, as always, a delight as Kelly's best friend and Leslie Caron ( Is she a great dancer? I don't know, but, like Audrey Hepburn and, later, John Travolta, she moves wonderfully well, and one can't take their eyes off of them) is a bonus as the girl of Kelly's affections. There's always been a problem though.

It's that ballet at the end. It's one of the highlights of American musicals, and, yet, it's the end of the film, and it leaves the project with a somehow "unfinished" feel. Unlike other great musicals, like "Singin' in the Rain", "The Band Wagon" and, even, the dance crazy "On the Town" (unlike many musicals it uses location shooting), there is no really satisfying "end".

I always praise "An American in Paris", but I've never "loved" it. Many people I know think this is crazy, but it's something that I can't help feeling.

I didn't watch the video but saw the still pic with the aftereffects(no chest hair). I understand that Ford let out a yell when the wax was yanked.

I have been quit for 3 Months, 3 Weeks, 6 Days, 14 hours, 15 minutes and 1 second (117 days). I have saved $617.35 by not smoking 3,527 cigarettes. I have saved 1 Week, 5 Days, 5 hours and 55 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 1/29/2008 7:00 AM

Hey Tater, You must belong to the quitsmokingmessageboard.com. I joined there the day after I quit. I still havent' had the energy to do the math regarding all those stats. I do know that I am saving quite a bit of money and my reward to myself is having my teeth professionally cleaned by my dentist. I have my 6 month appt on Thurs and am going to get a price on it then. My hubby usually is pretty tight with the bucks but he is so proud of me he agreed that I could do this for me. Did you quit cold turkey? Were you totally fatigued for the first few weeks. I have been dragging around like a zombie and I want to feel better. I have no energy and it will be a month on thurs. Tell my how you felt at first. I hope this is not unrelated and I am sick with something else. I should be feeling great by now, right? I am a very impatient person but a month? really.

I'm also sad because we lost Sidney Pollack.

Oh no I didn't know..I adore that man!
He wasn't very old and he made some GREAT movies but he was also a great guy they say. They say famous people die in three's. But my scientist tells me just coincidence.

I'm so superstitious in some ways.
But am not in others. I really am weird blink.gif
I will not stop my gas pump on anything but an even number..I can't do it.lol

Anyone wanna' list quirks???

OK I will say a word and soon as
I say it it comes on the TV or radio or
I see it on the computer...Not always but it happens A LOT!!!

Spooky!

And none of the bios online about his death mention the great work he did in Will and Grace. I know it was "just" a sitcom, but a ground breaking one at that!

He will be missed...lots and lots of great work that we'll be able to watch over and over again.

Sidney was 73, and that's close to the male average lifespan in the United States (73.6 per 1999 stats on the great Wikipedia, lol). But he did have cancer, and that will often shorten lifespan regardless of age.

I am very boozed, and I am making all kinds of typing errors that I have to go back and correct. Oops!

Additionally, I read the Andy Griffith whistler died today. My mom is 66 and she often has lots of memories of the famous people dying lately..are there any great rock n roll pioneers alive today besides Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis?

Jazzie... on a practical note watch out for one concern.... we have delt with the same issue in a cat and after getting the urethra cleared our cat would NOT wait to go outside or use a cat box; as soon as it had the urge to urinate ,he went. Our only recorse was to relegate him to the outdoors permanently....you just cant get that "cat" smell out. Also , if you feed your cats dry food be careful of the ash content; high ash content is a major contributor to the blockage.

Hey Ford....thanks, we've already switched his food over. So far, he's using the cat box, but he was, ummmmm, dribbling a bit yesterday and Sunday. Seems to be doing better, he was chasing a bug in the living room this morning, though admittedly not at full speed!

I'll pull out a few extra blankets, and Sampeg is bringing her Arroz Caldo con Pollo (sounds wonderful-- spicy Filipino chicken soup with rice) so nap away, and feel better, ok?

smile.gif Hi, Woshkie (any significance to this name?) I downloaded the little quit keeper from a site called freedom from smoking...it keeps a running tally on it. I just put in when I quit, how much I smoked, the price I paid for them, and it does it all the rest. I don't like math enough to be doing that myself. Yes I did quit cold turkey.I tried the patches before and they didn't work for me.I was horrible for the first 4 days, after that things started getting a little better.Though the mental addiction is even harder to break I've had a really tough time. I am an old lady of 55...and I smoked for 40 years....those things had become my reason for living. When I first quit I would go into the bedroom by myself and cry and punch my pillow. My Hubby was very supportive....course we've been married FOREVER.Are you depressed? Is that why you are dragging? Try not to think of it as giving something up...think of it as gaining something (your health). I won't say I felt great at 1 month....though my breathing improved tremendously in 1 week. I am just now getting to the point that I don't think of having one all the time. I was like a zombie at first because the smokes were my purpose in life....I had to keep feeding that monster. I had energy though...and I bought myself a membership to a gym....that has helped. I really hope you can stick to it....it really is great not to have to worry about feeding that monster anymore.GOOD LUCK!

Good Evening Tater, I don't think I am depressed at all. I'm really proud of myself and happy to be smoke free. I am thinking that the nicotene is just cleared out and without that horrible stimulant my body is just dragging. Guess how old I am? 55 same as you and probably smoked for just as long. what a coincidence. My hubby is also very supportive and proud of me. Tomorrow I am going to the dentist for my 6 month cleaning and I'm checkin into getting my teeth whitened. I am also calling my Dr and get an appt. I might need some bloodwork and it's possible that my levels are down. I had been diagnosed with vit d def
several months ago and had to take a huge dose of vit d for 4 months I had it retested a couple of months ago and it was fine but now that I have quit the evil weed I may need to check it again. I am really in a good place except for the tired all the time thing and once that is ironed out, look out world here I come....................
